Beautiful oceanfront stay

The staff and location were lovely. The view from Bay Palace provided beautiful sunrises, gorgeous views of the mesmerizing blue water beach, and enchanting views of the town.

Wouldn’t stay again

Room clean but not deep clean, loads of dust on bed frame and pictures, ants in bathroom. Outside terrace and internal floors not clean for feet or white socks. Staff ok, breakfast very poor. Worryingly unsafe glass barrier around main pool, could be pushed over. Air conditioning basic. General maintenance low, jet shower had been glued so couldn’t change settings. Drains gargled and could smell around pool. Simple golf cart service to help guests up the hills, don’t stay here if not fit. Wasn’t the best hotel, not the worst either. Needs investment and an experienced manager. View great, not worth the money. Shame.

We stayed in the family room, which was spacious and had a fantastic view. The old-fashioned furniture and bathroom didn't bother us, but the bathroom flooded every time we showered, even with the curtain closed. The water wouldn't drain, leaving the floor slippery all day, and no squeegee was provided. The bed was tatty, and the mattress was old and hard. Thankfully, I brought a self-inflating mat for some comfort. The aircon was old and barely worked. Despite closing the windows as instructed, the staff dismissed our complaints, leading to hot, uncomfortable nights. There were lots of steps, but we enjoyed the exercise after all the eating and drinking.
Food and Drink
Breakfast was disappointing and not up to 4-star standards. We often had to fetch our own cutlery, salt, pepper, and bowls. The food was the same every day and of mediocre quality. The only highlights were the yoghurt, cheese, juices, and coffee. The fried eggs were cold, and the scrambled eggs were rubbery. Fresh fruit options were limited to apples and a bit of fruit salad. Some young waitresses seemed to be in training and were unsure of what to do. While we enjoyed the swifts and swallows flying overhead, the hotel made no effort to clean their droppings from the banisters near the dining tables. The food was disappointing, so we were glad we didn't book half board. The bar inside was empty, with no music or atmosphere, which was a shame given the inviting terrace views.

Stunning setting & incredible views.
The hotel is very tired.
Tiles coming off in pool, no pictures.
Food is very basic.
Staff were very kind and friendly but when I checked in, the receptionist got lost trying to show me our room. Felt sorry for staff who are desperate for you to like your tine there.
The whole place needs significant amounts invested to upgrade.
It could be incredible.

Great staff and views but poorly maintained

Unfortunately the hotel was about to shut for ‘major’ renovations. They are sorely required! Had to move room three times in four nights due to unfixable room faults, including failed front door lock, failed internet (rooms either side OK) and toilet flush knackered. Great views, friendly and helpful staff, but tired fixtures and fittings and probably not such great value at present.

The hotel is in such a beautiful setting. The views are out of this world. It is built on the hillside, so everywhere is a climb although they have installed some lifts. The service and food is fantastic.

The pool is fantastic. Service at the front desk was excellent. I was surprised that the rest of staff didn’t really speak Greek and the woman working the pool bar hardly knew how to make a frappe. The breakfast was good, though not like my sister remembered from a previous visit. The rooms are dated. Bathrooms/showers need an upgrade. The sensor on our door didn’t really work so it took forever to get in our room. No art on the walls. Tiny TVs. There is parking but it’s a treacherous drive up and don’t bother to book this place if you’re not able to easily go up and down stairs. Thank goodness we’re capable but I worry about older people who may not be. I’d probably try staying somewhere else next time.

The guy at the reception is friendly and accommodating but the woman is, she’s more interested in selling boat trips and cruise and hiring a car than helping the customer. The so-called “A la carte “ menu is almost the same every night with few choices and food wasn’t very good. One dinner there was a maggot in the food (dead) that they replaced the food with a different main.If you order a more interesting main like seafood/squid they say that they’re all gone. My advice is don’t go for half board- it’s not worth it. The pool is lovely and big and reception area is nice and clean. The room is a good size but bathroom needs updating- no room to put your toiletry bag. I have an issue with toilet brush holder sitting below the loo roll holder that every time you take tissues off you touch the toilet brush which is very unhygienic. There are days we can smell the sewage especially in the bathroom. The drain of the bath is partly blocked even having a having shower is like flooding in the bath. The bath/ hand towels that they provide are not a 4 star at all( see my photos below). It looks like they cut the towel into two- threads are loose and hanging and smells bad. I don’t remember having towels in this condition in my own home let alone the hotel especially in a 4* hotel. The view is beautiful but the steps going up- I counted 150 steps from the bottom to the lift. I feel for the people who have mobility problem.

This was probably a great hotel before electricity. It has all the makings to be great BUT someone has to put the money back into it. Elevators out of service and walking up 90 steps with bags is no way to vacation. The views once you get to your room are out of this world. Spend the money and make it nice again.

The hotel location was good, with a stunning view and lots of restaurants nearby and a charming little town. The swimming pools were great, clean and fun. Unfortunately the hotel itself is tired, lots of little bits of maintenance, painting, fixing required. The rooms were surface clean, but not detailed. The breakfast buffet was standard and fine, however the evening food was barely edible (we opted to eat elsewhere even though we had paid for it to be included). The day-to-day staff were very nice and kind, they looked over-worked but always extremely nice to us. Any requests we made, like about bringing a roll-away bed, fixing the wifi, and bringing baby-food, were done immediately. Overall we were a bit disappointed and would not stay here again.

Superb view and great layout of this hotel property. The carpark has a unique exterior elevator to bring you down to your floor. Breakfast buffet has plenty of selection and is fresh. Thank you for the upgrade

The staff went above and beyond when inclement weather occurred and we needed some travel advice. The property is beautiful quiet and our own room was private we arrived before the restaurant opened but enjoyed the large continental breakfast on the balcony each morning. Overall recommended stay in Kefalonia.

Outstanding views

Lovely hotel offering splendid views.
Only stayed here for one night due to another hotel in Sami area letting us down on arrival ( Dimitris Studios) despite having booking confirmation and prepaid status.
The Kefalonia Bay Palace saved the day for us. Hard to evaluate a hotel with only a few hours stay but the few hours were perfect.
Staff excellent also but the hotel does require strong legs as the approach and interior is all based on steep climbs.

The property was very clean and the staff were excellent. However, we were VERY disappointed that Expedia had given us no indication of the amount of steps in the property -there were some lifts but there was no way of getting to our room without climbing a substantial amount of steps...this would definitely have been a problem for older or less able persons.
A further comment is that the gym was not usable as there was a problem with the electricity and connectivity. The spa was not open either.
This was very disappointing to us.
Finally, this was advertised as an adult only property on your site but this was not the case at all.
We would be grateful for your response to these comments. Thank you

I could spend a very long time listing both positive and negatives, but as a general i had a fantastic holiday, the staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly/helpful and I would be more than happy to return to the hotel. I would however offer some advice that if you are not fit/active then this hotel may not be suitable for you due to its steep hill location and the amount of walking required

Our second Holiday at this Hotel , some areas looking tired and breakfast not as fresh and natural as last time .
Staff were attentive and polite but as already pointed out the breakfast tables were grubby and food was missing at crucial times .
Overall experience was quite good .

Great Hotel and Staff

A great, quiet, location, close to the picturesque town and harbour. Wonderful views of the bay from the room's balcony, to watch both super-yachts, and sailing enthusiasts, etc., as they come and go below, and for the evening moon-rise. The approach road ends uphill at the hotel, so very little traffic noise. The staff were superb, efficient, friendly and helpful. Great views also from the excellent pool , restaurant and other public rooms. The snag for some older clients might be the many steps to the various levels, but ignore the reports about driving to the car park, we found the climb easy in our hire Panda! It presents no problem to any competent driver. A nice touch was the free tapas when ordering a large beer from the pool bar!

Don't go here if you any sort of mobility problem.

Horrified at the access situation. Built up the side of a mountain & 140 from our room to the pool! & 100 to the main building for breakfast. Wifi not good. Breakfast fine. 2 out of 3 lifts not working. Obviously being run on a shoestring.

Good location but no good if any mobility issues

I have stayed at Kefalonia Bay Palace before and would so again but it is built on a very steep slope and there has been a problem with two of the three lifts so I would not recommend it for anyone with any mobility issues. Also a car is advisable as it is approx. a mile from centre of Agia Efimia and this seems longer in the heat. Private villas are exceptional at this hotel.

For an expensive room we expected much better. A junior suite is really a UK twin, there were 3 incomplete light sockets with just wires hanging out of holes, a power socket was dangerously hanging off the wall, the shower head was held up by a string attached to the emergency pull cord and the room was not very clean. A very disappointing stay.

Steps are awful. Hotel is boring

The hotel is the highest point up the hill. There are no lifts and the stairs are a killer. Birds make nests above doors but the cleaner Magdalini is the loveliest thing about the whole hotel. I heard the receptionist was very friendly but I didn't find that at all. In fact whenever we approached or called reception she made us feel as thought we were a nuisance. There was never any staff available to serve drinks and i don't think the pool was chlorinated. It certainly didn't smell like that. Hated having to put used toilet paper in a bin instead of down the toilet. Found it gross!

Too Many Issues

A little bit like a pretty mausoleum built on a mountain side, pretty,
but still a mausoleum built on a mountain side.

Staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful.

Beautiful stunning views from rooms, but it all goes a bit wrong from there.

Hotel has no atmosphere whatsoever. No nightlife, Never saw the bar staffed in the evening over 4 nights - so walk into Efimia.

The catch is you will have somewhere in the region off 142 steps down to road level and of course 142 steps back up to Lift level - to the 1, yes 1 working lift and of course unless you have a car, Efimia is a lovely 1km - It's fun, but it all adds up.

No working pool bar during the day, minimal staff on duty, no working snack bar that we could see.1 lift out of 3 working. Our room was small, rather bare, Shower leaked substantially onto floor, this was fixed immediately - staff excellent.

On our first evening no warm or hot water in shower at 8pm, after mentioning it to lovely Cassie on reception, next day water as hot as you like..

Hotel very quiet when we stayed. Clearly there are some management and staffing issues that require attention.. The location is stunning but quiet. The hotel looks great from afar but a bit too tired up close.

It isn't a 4* hotel so don't be surprised... we still had a lovely time in Kefalonia, wonderful island, wonderful people, but wouldn't stay here again.

Would definitely recommend the 2 bedroom villa with private pool. Large, comfortable and big sun terrace. All staff friendly and helpful - easy 15 min stroll into town. Got a good last minute deal. Lovely place to relax for a week in the sun.

The hotel has great view and decent condition.
However there are few minor aspects
1. It would be nice if the cleaners would consider the blipping red light which indicates 'Do not disturb'
2. I would have appreciated to find the minibar not empty.
3. The toilet paper is restricted entering its destination
