Clean room, nice pool, and close to some good restaurants and the San Ignacio marketplace. Easy to hop across the street and get a few snacks or groceries from the grocery store. Staff was flexible and you can pre-order your breakfast the night before on site if you are planning an early tour. Only downside was staying the second food room facing front (hotel guests and nighttime swimmers were a bit loud for someone like me who needed to get to bed early).

Really enjoyed our stay at the Midas! The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and ours had a fully equipped kitchen as well. The pool area and bar were relaxing, especially after a long day in the jungle. The staff were wonderful, especially the kitchen crew, who worked tirelessly to get breakfast orders out at 6 am, even when there was a citywide power outage one morning. Everything was within walking distance as well, just a short stroll to restaurants and services. Highly recommended!

Clean fun bungalows with nature outside so you don’t feel like you are in the city, but it’s close to town. The walk to the market and restaurants is only 5 mins. Water refill in the lobby and excursions pick you up at the hotel easily. Staff is nice as well.

Pros: pool, butterfly garden, decent restaurant.
Cons: room was basic with no dresser or space to put clothes. It was noisy overnight and we were kept up. No regulation for parties etc. the hot water kept going in and out. There was a lot of construction noise. One staff member was really helpful, the others not so much. If you care about sleep, this is not the place.

The room was clean with a comfortable bed and a very basic bathroom. After the excursions, it was nice to be able to cool off in the pool. There is an onsite restaurant with good food and amazing staff! There is a grocery store across the street. It is a 10 minute walk to the town plaza/market.

Stayed in the main building. Room was a bit run down (broken lamp etc...) but the beds were comfortable and bathroom was new and clean. Booked in advance but noticed that on the day of check in, the same kind of room we had booked was $50 cheaper. Wished I had waited to book last minute, and then we could have stayed in one of the much nicer cabanas in the back of the property for the same price that I ended up paying.

We arrived at the hotel exhausted after 14 hours of traveling and the music at the pool bar - right below our room - was blaring. We were told that it would be turned off at 10pm. It was all a bit crazy as it was a coolish Monday evening and there was absolutely nobody at the bar or pool! We had just wanted a quiet night's rest. I'm so glad we just booked the one night.

It doesn’t look like much from the front but we absolutely loved our stay!!!! We stayed in room 18 and the bed was amazing! The large screen TV after being out all day was nice to come back to. The room was big and comfy! We only had breakfast there and it was so good!!! Love the staff in the restaurant… for the price… so worth it!!!

The staff here was very friendly at this low key hotel and they offered a reasonably priced shuttle service to and from the airport. Sylvia in particular was so nice and attentive in her waitressing and her efforts to find me some Belizian coins. :-) Rooms are small but were clean and have everything you need. It was historically cool when we were there so did not use the pool but the ambiance around it and the pool bar was relaxing. Breakfast is good and they can make it to go if you are off to see a cave or Mayan ruins. The dinner menu is a bit limited but everything tasted great. Hode’s place restaurant is a short walk down the road if you are looking for a wider menu selection. A grocery store is also across from the hotel so the location is great. I would recommend this place!

Staff at front desk helped us locate my phone by linking to my husbands phone, the gentleman with glasses found my phone location on a map, Aaron who works part time there offered to drive me to the address where I had left my phone in my purse in the back of friends car, they had picked us up and dropped us off and we had no address to go on, no phone number because it was only on my phone, not my husbands, also I had credit cards and money there…Aaron was a sweetie, just wanted to help…the road was rough and hard on his vehicle, and he had just got off work…he was also exceptional at driving me all the way back…Barthes was also helpful and very kind when we had tour operator and shuttle pickup issues, what a great group

The restaurant main cook named Angie refused tp prepare the food as requested. She was written and verbally told of our Dairy ans egg allergies and still tried to serve it to us . The waitress Sylvia told her of our food allergies and Angie the cook ignored her. Putting someone’s life at risk because you are lazy is inexcusable.

Room was clean. Nice setting back in the trees and surrounded by nature. Hot water was intermittent. Wifi was nonexistent in the room most days. Staff were ok but not very friendly or helpful. Pool was very cold and seating in pool area was delapitated and in need of repair or replacement. Food at restaurant was quite poor compared to options nearby. If tours are staying at the hotel, you must book your breakfast in advance or you will have to wait until they depart before your food arrives.

I stayed in a King Deluxe room at thought it was great value. The staff were all excellent, the hotel restaurant was great and the pool was large. Plus, the location was ideal (close enough to walk to the market / downtown but removed enough to be quiet) and there's a large grocery store directly across the street if you want snacks / sunscreen etc.
I would certainly stay at Midas Belize again.

Midas Belize was a great starting point to our family adventure! We loved the large pool that included a hidden 'cave' feature. The hotel was right across the street from a large grocery store and fried chicken fast food restaurant. Midas was also walkable to other popular and restaurants in the area.
We loved the morning breakfasts at Midas, including the ultimate breakfast sandwich and the ancestor breakfast. The fry jacks were delicious as well! We also loved the dark roast coffee at breakfast!
The room was large enough for our family or five, with a kitchen that was perfect for 3 nights. There was lovely tile in the large bathroom and shower. The hotel grounds were filled with wildlife, included iguanas and frogs.
We appreciated the friendly staff and enjoyed our stay the Midas Belize!

We loved staying at Midas Belize. It’s very safe- they have a delicious breakfast and there is a grocery store right across the street. It’s very close to tour options and other shopping, yet it is quiet, safe and comfortable in the hotel. The staff was very accommodating and the room was clean.

Very basic rooms. Campus not clean. Bathroom would not flush and maintenance arrived several hours later and said main pipe was clogged . We had to go use the pool bathroom . They said they could not provide an alternate room. Towels were threadbare. Toiletries limited . Internet would not work well. Would not stay here again . Unfortunately ours was a last minute trip and no accommodation available in proximity to the center.
Only positive aspect is walking distance to the center with good restaurant options

Vey cool property just at the egde of town. Easy 10 minute walk to the market and downtown San Ignacio. The rooms are quaint and very clean. You don't need much a you won't want to spend your time indoors. The area is so beautiful with lots of tropical wildlife. The onsite restaurant was very good. Staff was very friendly. My only complaint is the pool was really dirty. Not a big deal though. I would definitely stay there again.

For the most part the stay was okay, but I had reserved for 3 adults and the space was small and only two towels that looked worn out were provided. The bathroom did have 2 packaged soaps but the shampoo was used and aside for an extra toilet paper there were no other toiletries, not even a face rag/towel. Bathroom wasn't thoroughly clean and had smears and mold on walls. I was also charged an additional check in fee at the hotel, which I was not aware about. I had stayed so much times there, that this was somewhat dissappointing.

Disappointing Experience with Misleading Booking Information

I booked a cottage at Midas through Expedia, where the listing showed an option for either one double bed or two twin beds, with matching pictures. Since my party needed two twin beds, I selected that setup.

Upon check-in, the receptionist only asked me to fill out an information sheet, pay a service charge, and told me my room number. No directions, no check-out info, and no WiFi password. When I got to the room, I found only one bed. I returned to the front desk, where the receptionist, with an annoyed expression, informed me that this was the last available room and that all their cottages only have one double bed, despite what Expedia advertised.

I expressed that this was unprofessional and misleading, as I had paid for accommodations that didn’t suit my needs. We asked to speak to a manager, hoping for a solution like an extra bed, but were told no manager was available on Saturdays. Instead, we were given a hotel office number to call for a transfer to a superior on Monday.

At check-out, a much friendlier receptionist informed me I had to pay the service fee despite the fact that I had already paid at check-in. Apparently, the previous receptionist had not logged my payment.

On a positive note, the bathroom was spacious and beautifully designed with a natural feel. However, the overall experience was frustrating due to the inaccurate listing and poor customer service.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Midas. It’s an easy walk into town, the cafe onsite was excellent and good value, the staff were very helpful. The pool was great, and the tour company (Tukan) were a great choice for exploring Mountain Pine Ridge and its waterfalls and caves. Also great you can get cold purified water free from reception.
Only slight irritation was some of my laundry was returned wet inexplicably. It had been sitting around long enough to have a smell and will need to be cleaned again.

A nice treasure but noisy

Midas looks nice and is well located in San Ignacio. Even though it's ont the edge of town, you can walk to most places. For exemple, we walked to San Ignacio Resort for the Green Iguana Conservation Project tour (20 minutes), then walked to Cahal Pech ruins (another 20 minutes) with 2 kids.

On site, the maid staff works well. Our rooms were done everyday. The pool area is quite nice. The bar was always staffed when we were here. Keep in mind that locals can have access to the pool without sleeping at the hotel.

The only problem we faced was that it wasn't quiet at all. We've experience some noice late at night (midnight) and early in the morning (6:00). Still, this wasn't the worst as this could be considered normal. There was one instance, during saturday night where there was a group of young people talking and laughing hard in the pool area from 3:00 to 6:00 AM. When I went to asked for less shouting, I was told : ''relax, it's the weekend.'' I can't say if I had badluck or if it's often like this. All I know is that there isn't security or staff that can keep things quite at night.

BAIT AND SWITCH!!!! I booked a junior sweet and they put us in a half cottage with an ajoining wall to another visitor who snored and kept us awake all night. They never told us there was a change as though we would not notice. The junior suite includes multiple beds, rooms, full kitchen, walk in bathroom and shower, and they put us in what seemed like a college dorm rooms. It was very upsetting. I talked to the owner and they knew they gave our junior sweet to another family. Since they claimed their rooms were booked, I asked for a refund for the difference in room prices and would not honor until the next day with a lot of complaints. It ruined our first two days of vacation. I highly recommend not choosing this hotel as they are dishonest and mischievous. They are a bunch of cons. Buyers beware!

The staff at this hotel were all very nice. However, our room was very dated and the refrigerator did not work. When we let the front desk know about the refrigerator, we were given another room which was not a junior suite (like the one we had reserved) but it was newer and had a working refrigerator. The room we moved to was half the size of the room that we had reserved and it didn't have a kitchenette.

The cabana concept is good, however we felt it was overpriced for what we got. The whole place feels a bit tired. We struggled to get any hot water for showering. We had to do all sort of tricks with the basin taps to get a minute or so of hot water in the shower head.
There was also an issue with the wifi which didnt work for 24hrs.
We didn't try the pool or bar area. We tried the breakfast which is independently owned and again we felt it was overpriced and not particularly good. We had a delicious breakfast in town and cheaper.
The location is good just a short walk into the centre of town.

We had a really nice stay - with accommodations in the quieter bungalows in the back. (I'd recommend booking there and not in the main building - which is close to the parking lot and pool.) The back has a quiet foresty feel compared to the front which is on a main street.

Place was reasonably priced for the location and the cabana we got. Easy to walk downtown and to the marker from the hotel. Pool looks fine and restaurant next door (Hode's) was decent for breakfast and lunch. I wouldn't say this was a memorable facility but it was easy and good for a night or two.

We stayed three nights and were very disappointed in the the photos and marketing. This place is nothing at like what the photos showed. Everything was so run down. Potholes in the parking lot. Dead leaves and poor landscaping. Birds nests above cabin door. Water pressure was like a trickle and one of our two showers never got hot. It was very unsafe. Slippery step in bathroom. And slippery tile floors and step getting into each unit. No washcloths. Food was marginal at best. Lizards in or room. It was gross.

We took a early tour at 7am and their restaurant had our pre ordered breakfast ready at 6:30am. Perfect

We stayed at a family cabana ( 2 rooms ), There was a few issues, the hot water was not working in one of the bathrooms, The mini fridge wasn't working in one of the rooms. But since we were a big family sharing 2 rooms we managed, no problem.

Overall I think is agreat stay, beautiful trees and plants in the property, we saw a tucan, hummingbirds, lots of birds and many iguanas.

My girls loved the pool . Would stay again

We stayed here on a family vacation with our kids and their 9 month old child. The resort had a pack and play available as well as fridge and microwave. The front desk staff was very accommodating and helped arrange taxi service to the Mayan ruins and calico jacks for zip lining. There are several dining options within easy walking distance and we felt very safe in the area. Residents of the area are very warm and welcoming. The pool bar was a welcome sight at the end of a busy day.

Would have been nice to get the room we booked!!

I booked in January for an April stay. I specifically booked the Casita Verde as we always book with full kitchen if possible plus we knew we were staying at a lodge for four nights following this stay, that had no kitchen so wanted to prepare some food. We arrived and were shown the family room. I immediately went to reception and they acted surprised that we were not happy with our room. Seems the people in the casita verde were there for an extended time yet booked much later than us. I assume they wanted to book a long stay and so they decided to move us.
They gave us some money back and also boiled some eggs for us that we had already purchased. However it was only after the fact that I realized that although we got a little bit of money back, that was the difference between a room that sleeps 6 yet we only needed a room for 2. I should have pushed back and asked for a double room at half the price.
I think this was not very ethical and the fact that they didn’t say sorry and instead blamed it on the fact that I had booked and changed my reservation a couple time but still I had one reservation booked over three months before. They messed up!! They should have admitted it.
Another things that was shocking was that they charge for the hiking on their property. I assumed (wrongly so) that it would be free for people staying there.

Our cottage was wonderful and the bed so comfy! The grounds were beautiful, we were taken away as soon as we arrived. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The pool was a relief to have and so well maintained. And we loved the butterfly conservatory, we can't remember her name, sorry, but the girl that gave us the tour was so informative and easy to talk to. We will definately be back!

There was no soap in the bathroom. I received a shock from the hair dryer after when turning it on. The pool was very dirty and crowded.

Midas is a cute little hotel with nice little cabanas, which is where we stayed. Pool and bar were a great way to end a long hot day. Only complaint would be 4 days of cold showers. No hot water. But other than that, it was good.

A fantastic stay

We loved our cabana at Midas. The bed was so comfortable, and the setting in the gardens of the hotel was lovely. It felt closer to a four star hotel.

The staff were friendly and so welcoming. The restaurant on site serves great breakfasts (I’d recommend the Cayo and Huevos Rancheros in particular!)

The pool and bar area made for a great spot to relax, but do feel a little dated and in need of some TLC.

Worth knowing the hotel is right on the edge of town so there is a bit of walking along roads in the heat, but you do have the market and a supermarket very close by.

Booked on hotels.com, was given a cabana at the rear of the property. There was junk and garbage around and under the cabana. Definitely not worth the money.
