Magnificent ultra modern hotel in a superb location. The hotel is spotless and our suite was magnificent. Lots of things are within walking distance and across the rad is one of the most expensive but superb high end shopping centers I have ever seen.
Name the high end brand and they are there.
The club lounge is fantastic with a wonderful selection of food and alcoholic beverages.
The staff in the club lounge were fantastic. Very helpful, friendly, polite and happy to be of service.

it really depends on which building they put you in. the River View building is the original one, which desperately need an update. for a 5 star hotel, the rooms were so dated and the washrooms were simply gross. view was good but its really not worth the money.

I booked 2 double bed room. Day 1 the staff got us a 2twin bed room and smells bad in the room. I talked to front desk and was able to switch to next door. I’m surprised they got us the wrong room even I talked to the check in clerk and confirming if it is what we booked. Otherwise the service was ok and facility was good.

Breakfast is average, buffet style, but I guess that’s the only option to feed so many people.
The location is great, two major mall right across the street, many restaurants and cafes.
The property is a bit worn out, no proper bar on the ground floor, only a fancy one on the 36th with a great view though. Internet is ok, but google and .com in general are being blocked.

This is located in a beautiful area, you can walk around and find different high end malls. Hotel is beautiful. Only complaint is that beds are a little small for two. What can i say...its the Shangri La...world famous hotel. The hotel from checking in to the staff was first class.

We stayed a few days for a double celebration....daughters birthday and our wedding anniversary. Told them in advance and they decorated our room for our daughter with balloons and a cake, and for anniversary they gave us towel swans. Lovely touch.

They collected our luggage and took it up to our room after checking in. Seamless process. The check in desk was super helpful and quick to get is checked in.

The hotel itself is stunning and only a short walk from the Pearl TV Tower. Would highly recommend if you want to visit that side of the river. Very affordable rates too over the weekend that we stayed.

Asked the concierge for booking a larger car for our ride to the airport. He called up and sourced us a larger car. Cheaper than Didi too. So consider asking for their services if you have a lot of luggage and prams

My family have breakfast there every morning (freshly brewed coffee, tuna roll, sandwiches, cakes). It would be great if the hotel could consider offering airport-hotel shuttle service especially for evening checkin.

Great overall hotel, typical of the Shangri-La standard. It is right next to Lujiazui an intersection MRT station for Line 2 and 14 which makes it very easy to get to all the major central Shanghai tourist spots. There is a high-end mall, across the street which sites the Ritz, a lifestyle mall in the same side of the street which has great food upstairs and the usual shopping outlets and a Disney store standalone outlet just further down the street.

Overall a very comfortable stay. Only comments would be that the curtains appear a bit dated, some parts of the curtain don't really cover the entire window. Having bidets would be a big plus, some parts of the toilet are showing their age but still in good quality.

Wouldn't recommend the buffet breakfast unless it happens to be included in your package. We feel it's overpriced for the array of selections and quality but we have high-standards for food so it may be to your fancy if you have a chance.

Staff are tip-top. Service is impeccable.

The staff were very helpful, respectful, friendly and detail attentive. They were always providing the first rate service - just everyone! I am very much impressed by their eager to meet the needs of the guests. I’d like to mention Nilo in particular. When we were checking out, there was a small issue. He was so patient and helpful. He went extra ways to help, always smiling!

The facility is a bit old, with places showing some wear and tear (for example, the carpets may not be the cleanest). But the location of the hotel is superb and the price is reasonable for a five-star hotel.

Hotel seem old, the carpet also look long period haven't change. Overall is nice to stay include good breakfast, but the bath door design the shower head all get minor point, door why open outward, the floor all wet after taken bath, hand shower, at super low, design for kids? During my stay around 13 December 2024, I had the pleasure of interacting with two housekeepers on the 17th floor whose service were truly commendable. Their names were 牟爱红 and 刘丽. They were warm, sincere, and attentive—small gestures, like offering me a bottle of water when I returned to my room in the late afternoon, truly stood out. Their positive demeanour and genuine smiles made my experience much more pleasant.

Unfortunately, this level of service did not extend to the front desk and entrance staff. The front desk interactions felt rushed, with a cold tone that lacked genuine hospitality. An example was the front desk staff on 14 December who handed me the names of the exemplary housekeepers, highlighting the inconsistency in service. At the entrance, the service appeared inconsistent and unprofessional. The staff seemed hesitant to assist unless the situation demanded it, often waiting until a guest was almost out of the car before approaching to open the door. Moreover, I couldn’t help but notice preferential treatment for guests arriving in luxury vehicles, as the staff were noticeably quicker to assist in those cases.

As a guest, I expected a consistent standard of service that reflects the hotel’s reputation, regardless of the mode of arrival or the guest’s attire. It’s disappointing to see such disparities in service quality within the same establishment.

Central of Shanghai. The hotel is beautiful, sits right on the river with beautiful window view and close to many shopping centers and restaurants. Stuff was super nice and helpful. They even have umbrellas to loan out for free on the raining days. The Sisea sushi was excellent, so does the buffet.

Too expensive, not clean, didn't return my suit.

I paid for the \"Horizon club\" Bund River View. It was cool but definitely not worth $400 per night. A large chunk of the price is for the excelled breakfast buffet, so take advantage if that. It was Very Good!

The room was wide, but narrow. The TV was in the most inconvenient location, partially blocking the view. It should be mounted up and out of the way, but it's literally Bolted to the table and the table is Bolted to the floor... so you can't move it. It just swivels.

The carpets were pretty disgusting. Multiple stains and discoloration. The room decor was old fashioned and not modernized at all. The bed was great. However, the bathroom was too small. Very awkward design.

Supposedly being in the Horizon Club includes one free \"pressing\".... but that is NOT the same as dry cleaning. I gave them my suit, and the next day they returned it saying they won't clean it because they found a tiny hole in it.? I assumed it was my complete suit, but when I arrived in a different city, I realized that they did NOT return my pants or tie!

Why! I asked them specifically during checkout if there's any extra costs for my checkout, and the lady assured me \"no\". Apparently that was bogus. When we called them, they explained that I didn't pay $23 for the pants, so they held it hostage. Why didn't they tell me this during checkout!? Why didn't they tell me this when they returned my suit coat??? Zero logic. We had to pay extra to have my pants delivered across China.
