房內空間大，但設備殘舊，預訂了禁煙房間，但結果被分配到19樓的房間，房間的煙味很久，開著空調味道仍久久不散，晚上要求換房間，結果服務員說房門爆滿只能隔天給我們換，只好在煙味很重的房間睡一晚，衣服和頭髮都是煙味，十分痛苦。
第二天換了房間就沒有煙味但設備仍然殘舊，感覺不好。

This is a 5 star review for the hotel and the previous general manager Kai Patry.

We booked a trip back in 2018 to Shanghai with my family and family in law. Due to personal issues, we were stuck in Shanghai and had to stay in this hotel for almost a month. The hotel team tried their best to accommodate us, ESPECIALLY the general manager Kai Patry. He did helped a lot. A yell out for Mr.Kai Patry!

As for the conditions and cleanness of the hotel, I have to say that for a germaphobe like me, I was even happy with this hotel.

Guys, this is part of the luxury collection and previously the St. Regis, you can't find something matching this for the same price.

Service at the breakfast restaurant and porter is terrible. The porter wouldn’t even help with calling a taxi and wanted me to go outside the road to hail a taxi where I was with my wife and toddler. Weather was 4 degC.

The hotel was excellent for our short visit to Shanghai. It was close to the university/hospital for work-related activities, and near areas of interest for shopping and sites via taxi (which the hotel staff helped to arrange, and provided an address card for the return). One night with access to the Executive Floor was worth the extra cost since it included excellent food and wine for dinner.

not as great as I hoped

I went with family (we had 3 rooms which included breakfast, 2x per room) I repeatedly tried to give them the other room numbers but the restaurant front insisted it was okay and to just go on in. Of course they charged them all to one room which was aggravating and took a while to correct at check-out. Some of the facilities are nice, others are really showing wear and tear, the gym area especially.

Close to the city, good location.

When I first walked in the room there was a dirty towel in the hallway. In my bed was a piece of paper from the bathroom. Under the bed was rubbish that had not been cleaned. The basin looked like someone had been eating nuts in it. Downstairs at breakfast my table was not clean either. I expect a lot more from a 5 star hotel.

Wonderful hotel

The hotel is very elegant. Our room was spacey, with a comfortable bed.
The room had a TV and a nice desk area with free WiFi and electric outlets that accommodate European, Chinese, UK, and ungrounded nonpolar US standard plugs. There was also a 110V outlet in the bathroom.

The bathroom was nice, with huge bath towels, but I wish we had more hooks or bars to hang towels. The steam is well contained in the shower, without fogging up the mirror in the main bathroom area.

The restaurants are elegant, with good food and wide food selection for breakfast.

Above all, the service was wonderful!

Wonderful say in Shanghai at the Hongta Hotel

My wife joined me on a business trip and we chose this hotel. We added the buffet breakfast to our room reservation which was an excellent choice as the food was a wide variety of Asian, European and American and it tasted great. The staff was helpful with directions, maps and recommendations for us to eat and tour. All of our needs were met and our room was kept very clean with 3 new water bottles provided each day. The King bed was also very comfortable. The 10 minute walk to the subway Century Road Station gave us access to Line 2 which services most of the sites to see in the city. Plaze96 with many shops and restaurants was also a 10 minute walk. There are also 3 FamilyMart stores within 1 minute walk for quick snacks and water bottles. We will choose this hotel again in the future. The Italian restaurant on the top floor is too expensive to eat there and not a good value. Many other restaurants near by are local food and a lot less money (compare $150-200 for 2 people to dine at the Italian restaurant vs $10-30 for 2 to dine at Yershari Restaurant, Guangzhou Banana Leaf, or Sichuan Folk Restaurant nearby).

Improvement on the hotel room access

It was a rush to the hotel at night where there is very few restaurant around to have a proper dinner. I only managed to eat my dinner from Family Mart. The next morning, I went down to smoke since it is a green hotel. After my brief smoke, I can't get into the hotel room. I went down to the lobby to get my card re-activated TWICE but still unable to get in. In the end the receptionist use her master key to get me in. I ended up 30 minutes delay...

Beautiful hotel in Pudong.

This hotel is very affordable for a 5 star hotel. Staff speak English and very helpful. We only eat breakfast there but lunch & dinner at the surrounding restaurants approx 2 -5mins walk from the lobby. (Across road ). Free Wifi Internet but Facebook and all Google services are restricted. I VPN out while I was there to post on Facebook, they got on and blocked by VPN connection as well. Lol. Taxi available outside the lobby. Love the hotel and stuff. Thank you for a great experience from my wife and I.

I stay at Hongta every time I go on business trip to Shanghai. It is old St. Regis hotel and the condition/service keep at the same level as St. Regis era. It is in convenient neighborhood that most of my clients are within a few minutes' walk.

The only problem I found out this time was laundry service. I sent out 4 dresses and the staff came back and returned 3 dresses saying that they could not do the laundry. I've never had that problem in HK, where I am from.

A Wonderful Surprise

My first time to Mainland China. My business trip was short and sharp. I flew in on a Monday night and flew out Friday afternoon. The SIAL trade show was my focus. I booked my flights through Flight Centre but made my booked my own accommodation online. The Hongta, A Luxury Collection Hotel.

The Hongta appeared to be in the ideal location of being midway between the trade show and the city area of Shanghai. After reading a number of online reviews and assessing their services I made my choice - The Hongta, A Luxury Collection Hotel.

Unfortunately the food served in their fine dining restaurant did not match the rest of the hotels.

The staff were wonderful with the most gracious of special thanks to ALICE CHENG. This lady was so helpful, she made my stay in Shanghai and in the hotel the incredibly positive experience that it was. Her dress was impeccable, her English was perfect, her knowledge was vast and her manner was perfect. Thank you very much Alice Cheng.

While only short and business focused, I will go back and if I ever find myself lucky enough to be back in Shanghai, I will stay at the Hongta, A Luxury Hotel.

This hotel was so nice! The room was massive and comfortable and the staff friendly. The area was alright, it was next to a mall, but we prefer to be closer to street food. But it was a nice safe neighborhood, just a matter of preference. This was cheaper than all the other fancier hotels but did not feel we were compromising at all.

Good clean hotel. Staff was helpful but not overly experienced. Did not tell me about sauna, steam room and other facilities. Breakfast is not good for the price - expected more Authentic and fresh Chinese food but instead was unremarkable western food. There are better food choices outside. The opposite road has some seamy \"massage\" places and touts bug you when you get out at night. But it's a good business hotel.

We recently stayed at The Hongta, which according to them they are a 5 star hotel. Aside from the room being nice, there is nothing 5 star about it. The staff barely speaks any english, the concierge is useless, and the location is horrible if you come to Shanghai as a tourist. We were there for New Years, and when I asked the Hotel Concierge where to go for a New Years party, he told me that they had non since they only celebrate Chinese new year. I had to go online and found at least 15 different awesome New Years parties. Recommend spending a little more and getting a hotel on or next to the Bund.

We enjiyed our 3 night stay in room 3403. Service at executive lounge breakfast was superb as was the food. Concierge was very helpful. Taxis to the Bund or Yu Gardens or Shanghai Circus are only about $5 so lower rate still makes great value for the quality and standard. Recommended. Great pool and spa!

Expedia says my room includes free breakfast but actually it's not. When I check-in with the front desk the stafff said that my room do not include breakfast, but during my booking expedia says the room include one morning breakfast. I think expedia needs to improve their communicating with hotel in the future. But anyway it's just hard for me to completely trust expedia again.

I stayed at this hotel about seven years ago when it was the St. Regis. I felt that the overall service and feel of the hotel was not at the same level as the St. Regis. For instance, the windows of the hotel were very dirty...in the Executive Lounge, in the rooms, etc. However, the hotel was still comfortable and the service was very good. We had breakfast and enjoyed the happy hour each day in the Executive Lounge, which was included in our rate. The staff in the Executive Lounge was great! Very personable and went out of their way to make sure that you were comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, which is always very important when I am on the road.

No chance of a cool room

Horrible. I was changed two four different rooms before giving up. The temperature in the hotel is extremely high, 24-26 degrees. The rooms are kept hot too as they feel \"most guests like a warm room\". That's what heat and thermostats are for. The next morning the hotel manager confirmed that the a/c was turned off in the entire building for the winter and there was no chance to reduce temperatures in the room. General physics of warm air rises also seems to escape the management here. Just a very unpleasant stay and I will not be back. Go to the Langham Yangtze, the boutique Langham (there are multiple Langhams.) That place is fantastic and a wonderful woman named Joey was unbelieveably accomodating, at least offering and putting me in a room where I was able to open the window to cool down the room. Didn't find a single hotel in Shanghain or Beijing where the a/c was still on in the hotels.

The room and the staff was great. The value of the hotel was very good. I was only there for one evening, but the room was very quiet and luxurious. It is a bit far from the airport, but I had no problem having the hotel hail a cab and to quickly reach the airport. I would suggest however that you avoid rush hour to get to the airport, as is the case all over China.

I stayed in St. Regis Hotel for 5 nights. Nice hotel and good service. But I would not stay there if it’s not a business trip. Everything there is seriously overpriced! Room rate doesn’t include breakfast or internet. The breakfast buffet costs over 34 USD and the internet is additional 16 USD (for 24 hours).

I was surprised at the low price as compared to its high rating. I figured the price was based on its a little inconvenient location. I would say the best location for a hotel in Shanghai is at the either side of the Huangpu river. Fortunately, the fares for taxi ride to the famous sites are not that expensive yet and there are always taxi cabs waiting outside the hotel.

Loved it!!!

We love this hotel. The room was very spacious & clean with all the amenities you can think of. All staffs were very professional & curteous. I loved how they provide free bottled water in the room and they leave plenty of bottles for you each day. The only downside is its location. It's located in the financial district, therefore nothing fun and entertaining to see in this area that's within walking distance. But this was not a problem for us since we had a private tour guide & driver that comes to pick us up everyday. Asides from that I really enjoyed our stay there at this hotel and will definitely stay here again if I ever go back to Shanghai.
