There are not many food options and what is available isn’t good. Everything closes super early including the pool and they don’t let people on the beach after a certain time as well. No one that works there speaks English and if I didn’t have friends that spoke Spanish with me I would’ve had a much harder time.

If you’re only looking for a roof over your head, this place might be okay — but that’s about it.
The food was terrible, with very limited options, and they lacked even basic necessities like coffee and water. The café only opens at 8 AM on weekends and 10 AM on weekdays, which is surprising in Colombia — a country famous for coffee. Unfortunately, the coffee here was so bad it could make you lose interest in coffee altogether.

During lunch and dinner, even after asking for water multiple times, it never arrived. The beds were uncomfortable, the bathrooms were outdated, and there was no hot water for the shower. Overall, I would not return or recommend this place to family or friends.

Friendly staff. Loved how clean the property was. Well maintained. Loved seeing after every meal the cleaning process started. Done well ! Beach clean and safe. Security always around. On feb 14 we celebrated our 25th anniversity at steak house the waiter took our orders i ordered 2 mains we ordered wine the wine never came my 2nd dish never came we told him the drink came my 2nd dish again never came he stood my kitchen looking at me i waved to him 2 times never came i asked for supervisor she came i was upset but my spanish is not that good she chose to speak to my wife she didnt seem to want to hear me i feel there is no reason to forget 2 x and ignore my waves so i find this petdon to be a racist never came to say sorry or nothing the supervise brang rhe cake asked if anything she could do she said i bring you wine find but its included so nothing extra my berf id she didnt say anything to waiter totally no excuse on both of them cake and decorations wete not free cake was not fresh it was frozen when i cut it i taught it was ice cream. Two more thinks
Breakfast served at 7 but food is already out at 630 if not earlier also what ever is not eaten they wrap up and put out next day so i suggest you

The food was extremely limited and overall not appetizing.
The reserved restaurants should all be in an enclosed space. Keep the animals off the dining areas at least. Cats and dogs were everywhere. The property needs more staff that can communicate in English. And keep the adult pools open later than 5pm. Add a disco or club on the premise for dancing.

No air in lobby, open roof so when it rains you have to run to get some coverage. No ac in the bathrooms, insects ALL OVER THE PLACE. Food was good overall, staff not so friendly as much as the waiters. All rooms are muggy, feeling wet and congested. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. I rather pay for food and stay at a cleaner nicer place.

The property was beautifully landscaped, the staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There were cats and dogs (birds,iguanas, crabs and a snake!) on property but they seemed healthy and well cared for. The food and drinks were good and a lot of variety.

I like the well maintain garden areas and some of the staff services like the bartenders Johnier and Edgar that they try to make me feel welcome and a value customer.
what I didn't like:
the hotel is selling a wrong concept of all inclusive, _we arrived at the hotel at 1pm and we were not able to eat or drink until 3pm (time to check in) at least that we paid for the food, no matter that we were at the airport since 6am, -the minibar fridge in the room is empty, only two recycle bottle of water that need to be replenish at noon every day, no all drinks and food are included at the bar, if you like a cappuccino or a Frappuccino, donnas, chocolate croissant for ex. you have to pay extra, this bar close at 8:30pm and the second one at 1pm, so no drink or food after that. two pools, one with some activities and one passive and quiet but if you like to play your own music you have to go to the beach. Activities during days and nights are poor, in my opinion due to lack of resources. the staff were trying that we feel good and have a good time but was not too much to do. overall, this place was expensive and for the same money or less you can enjoy a really all-inclusive resort in Dominican Republic.

If u don’t like CATS&DOGS this is not the place for you! they were mainly in the dining areas & beach the cats & dogs will come & sit under your chair/table while ur trying to eat! VERY LIMITED food options my stay was 5 nights & I only ate dinner the first night every other night I left the resort & got dinner from the city! Alcohol beverages wasn’t that great either I drink mojitos majority of my stay. I mentioned earlier my stay was 5nights 6DAYS & I had to ask for wash cloths the 1st night & every night because they don’t change the wash cloths every time they clean the room & I didn’t get new wash cloth until the 4th night after asking 15 times & it was very frustrating overall experience wasn’t great I’d give them 2stars! I can’t even say I had a favorite part of my stay because there wasn’t any! I didn’t see any entertainment(shows) everything I did was off the resort. If u travel for disappointment this is the resort for you honestly

Where do i start? Staff: everyone was so helpful, nice, kind, eager to assist you and always with a smile . Great job. Food was good, a lot of variety and to choose from . We enjoyed the food, all of it.
Beds were comfy , air conditioning worked well.
On the other hand, the hotel is completely outdated, it looks like they haven’t take care of many issues ( around the pool a lot of tiles broken ) etc etc etc. The walls between rooms are like paper, you can hear everything from the adjacent room . Bathrooms (at least ours) was very dirty in the corners around the shower and even we found a cockroach in our closet . It hasn’t received a touch of love since long time ago , or probably never and you can tell . It looks like an abandoned hotel in the middle of nowhere . It’s a shame that such a beautiful property looks so old . Furniture at the pool and lounges and dinings room should be updated as well since they look dirty and worn out . I was very disappointed to say the least.

The property had many cats and dogs in all areas specifically eating areas. So if you are allergic or don’t like to eat with cats and dogs, not a good place to stay.
The property is also a distance from the town so it is isolated if you want some peace and calm.

This hotel falls very short on the things they promise. We were given 1 towel each for our entire stay. Very basic necessities such as toilet paper would run out and not be refilled. Pool towels are given sparingly and amenities were not there. We would come back to a “clean” room and there would still be sand everywhere, along with our garbage and dirty towels that were not changed. The hotel restaurant refused to accommodate us because we were 10 minutes late saying they were now seating 8pm reservations (at 7:10pm). There is only one bar that is open all the time on the property and it is far from the rooms. Everything is practically self serve, if you want a drink of water at night you will have to go outside to get it yourself. Half of the beach - you have to pay more to sit there. The food did not live up to the standards I had, it was barely edible (cheap cuts of meat, small servings, no variety). I am not sure what is “all inclusive” about his because even things like snacks (that they advertise are available after 10pm) and coffee (in COLOMBIA) were not available on more than one occasion. The food and ambiance is much better in the actual city of Cartagena (this hotel is about 20 min outside the city) - I would not stay here again. Way too much money for the things they promise and don’t fulfill. We really just slept here because of how disappointed we were- and even that was a mission because of very loud neighbors despite the hotel having NOTHING to do after 10pm.

Pros: food was great and they do a fantastic job at encouraging guests to not waste food. Pet-friendly (even with strays). The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were allowed an early check-in -- it took 3 hours -- but we were grateful for allowing us to enter the room early. They also tried their best to accommodate a late checkout but they were fully booked and we could see how busy the hotel was. They also provide a shuttle service to town free of charge which was very helpful.

Cons: There is nothing to do outside the hotel area. The Entertainment team and activities lacked creativity and budget.

Very unhappy with my stay. Planned this trip for my mother's birthday and I'm disappointed. The staff didn't speak any English, which is surprising since most operations cater to tourists....
The food options were mediocre with limited options and the rooms need immediate upgrades (especially the bathroom tub/shower).Covered in mildew.

Aside from that, the pool areas weren't clean and stray animals roamed the property. At check-in, the room smelled of dirty mop and mildew odor. Again updates are needed ASAP..... This is definitely not a four star resort!

Compared to Royalton resorts, this resort is a one star. Much is needed for good ratings.

Really sad that I didn't choose a better resort.

The property is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The main problem is with hotel staff and a complete lack of information about the facilities. The check-in time is rigidly enforced at 3:30 pm, despite the fact that many travelers arrive early in the morning on overnight flights. This would be okay if there were an indoor, air-conditioned space in which to receive hotel guests; however, guests have a shaded waiting area in which to pass the hours in the baking heat, including children and the elderly. We offered to pay for an extra day to be able to access a room earlier,
but the front desk receptionist was condescending. Every day, we saw guests and their luggage stack up waiting for their room. If the hotel weren't booked so full, this might alleviate the problem. Our room was lovely but packed a hair dryer. We notified the concierge who made note of it and did nothing about it. We also notified the housekeeing of the situation, but they did not know what to do about it. Three days later, after more requests, we were finally given a hair dryer. The air condoning in the rooms is weak, which is on par for the region in general, but at the height of summer, we felt cooler rooms would be better overall. The property has 3 pools, but one is exclusively for adults. The pools that allow children often host DJs with music loud enough so that keeping ears on splashing children becomes difficult at best. Finally, the QR code to hotel information leads to a 404 page.

This resort is a nice place to lay low away from the noise of the city. Compared to other resorts its on the smaller side. The rooms were nice and spacious. They have 3 pools which close around 6. The buffet has very limited choices. It was the most limited variety Ive seen at an all inclusive. They have 3 restaurants. I only ate at one and tbe food was good. The resort has a lot of stray dogs and cats which isnt completely unusual..The beach was clean but if you're looking for blue water this isnt the place.

The customer service from the property manager was a total waste of time and energy. To date, the manager continues to ignore my request to speak to the managing company.
Long story short…a was injured due to a shower glass door shattering. Words can’t describe how scary the situation was BUT the manager was not equipped to deal with such a situation.
The hotel is mismanaged. The workers can be delightful BUT management is on a totally different disappointing level.
Not at all how I planned to spend a girls trip!

We planned a family reunion that had been postponed several years due to the pandemic. Hotel Estelar Playa Manzanillo was the perfect location to meet our families again. The location is very quiet with beautiful and colorful gardens. There was a swimming pool for adults only, one for babies and 2 for families. They provided good towels and the beach had plenty of seating(with umbrellas for shadow). The sand is dark with glittery specks, no rocks, very pleasant to walk barefooted. Children enjoyed looking for seashells. There were only a couple of local vendors, very respectful and with beautiful crafts at a very reasonable prices. The sunsets were beautiful ( local regulations don’t allow access to the beach after 7pm).
The food was very good. For breakfast, we enjoyed freshly baked bread and tropical fruits. My youngest child discovered “granadillas” and Balkeys and other staff were so observant and kind to bring her a full plate of her new favorite fruit every time we ate at the buffet. Lunch was at the buffet and there were plenty of delicious options: from local dishes to international ones. For dinner there were usually 3 restaurants available and we sampled fresh fish and delicious seafood. Carlos and his team were great, explaining the food options, accommodating our big group and food allergies.
For excursions and activities in Cartagena, we received help from Noemi who provided great recommendations.
This hotel is Highly recommended!

An all inclusive should be all inclusive. When the buffet is closed most weeknights and there is not an ability to make reservations at any of the restaurants that is not an all inclusive. Our party went without dinner of quite a few nights nights because there was literally NO food. The air conditioning was sub par. Hot water only worked sometimes. Some of the staff was nice but many had attitudes. The property itself was okay. Will not be staying again.

We had a good time at this resort. Thankful for the two front desk person Dilan and (I can’t remember his name) who spoke English and who were able to help us with check in and solve any issues we had with our stay.

Dining options were limited and some of the food was not very tasty. We were confused one night when the buffet was closed and we were told we needed to have a reservation for the other 3 restaurants but few of us went to the front desk and our concerns were speedily addressed and we had reservations in 20 minutes.

The pool and the grounds were nicely kept. Rooms were cleaned daily but the rooms were huge with sparsely any furniture.

Limited supply of bottle water in the room especially for family of 4, we were given 2 small bottles each day. 1 night we had half of one bottle left. They only replaced 1 bottle instead of 2 bottles.

Neomi from Gema tours was excellent. She assisted us with our excursions and checked in on us the day of and even after our tours to ensure we had a good time.

Would be helpful in the future if there is a list of nightly events/shows that will take place.

It was a bad experience to get to the property after a long flight and find out the reservation is not there because it did not go through even when expedia charged my credit card. They did not have enough rooms for us to stay and my family was already staying in the hotel. Please expedia next time make sure the reservation is there.

Unfortunately, not much people in reception speaks English and check in takes a lot of time , BIG thanks for concierge Davidson (hope spelling is correct). It'd be nice to have info board about service of local people on the beach, before you will be asking to pay big money for old surfboard and etc, especially when hotel described own water activities on the website. The food and drinks are very good, cats and dogs with other birds around )on)under tables are not welcoming IMHO. Overall, it's good place for vacation!

A nice family style resort designed mainly for Colombians. Food choices and amenities were fairly good but a little too limited for my liking. Quite disorganized and slow on check in so first impression was poor but things improved over the course of the week.

Muy buena comida, en general buena atención por parte del personal. Buenas intenciones y amplias, la recreación es muy buena. Los aspectos a mejorar son los siguientes:
1. No cobrar uso posterior de las instalaciones del hotel.
2. No cobrar pasadia para niños de 2 años

Los recomiendo. Resaltó la distribución de las áreas

I didn’t like the fact , that the van from the airport to the hotel was included and I have to pay it myself , food wasn’t good . No variation. They definitely can do better .

the check in time was 2.5 horas delate and the room was incomplete no tv in the living room no couch and the from the room was broking, will not go back to that hotel!

We loved our stay at the Estelar resort. There is a quiet pool area in the back, more pool activities need to food pavilions, direct access to the beach, a great spa, wonderful meal selection and service and easy access into Cartagena via a complementary shuttle. We love staying here and when just with my spouse Melia is a great option as well.

To sum it up I would not recommend for anyone to stay here.Very disappointed that the hotel did not have staff members who were fluent in both English and Spanish.This needs to be advertised correctly so individuals such as myself can pick better suited resorts.This was the first vacation where me and my daughter looked forward to returning home.Colombia was miraculous but the resort was unsatisfactory and below the caliber of places we would usually stay.I have traveled all around the world being retired military and by far this resort was the WORST!!!Every day we had to deal with disrespectful looks and stares.My daughter felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave even though we came for her 15th birthday.The Wi-Fi only worked inside the room.The hotel room service translation stated it would cost $50 USD for anything ordered to our room even if it was just a glass of water. That is preposterous.All the bartenders, concierge, and gentleman from kitchen who spoke english were phenomenal.They always made us feel appreciated.The hotel had no atm and no way to exchange USD to Colombian money.No hot water most of the days.It would turn warm then back cold.Four days in a row I asked housekeeping for face towels but we never received them.The fourth time I asked I could hear them in the next room and translated them to saying I kept asking but they were not going to bring it then laughing.They had so many dogs everywhere while eating.Very unsanitary.My daughter is allergeric to dogs.

I liked how nice the staff were. I also liked how pretty and clean everything was. The resort itself was beautiful and kept very clean. I didn't like the limited selection of alcohol. I was surprised that they didn't have any whisky or name brand tequila. I was also surprised for a high end resort the lack of english they spoke. A huge plus would have been if they had a hot tub. Great stay overall.
