Gorgeous grounds

Exterior grounds are stunningly beautiful. Lovely for walking around and enjoying nature.

Rooms are getting stale. My shower was very slow to drain, and would back up into bathroom. Carpets are getting old.

Main resturant is excellent but could use more vegetable choices at buffets.

Overall gorgeous place to stay.

4 night stay in le meridien

4 nights for a business conference. Hotel amenities were perfect. The only complaint was the intermittent internet access. The breakfast is a good spread. They have shuttle buses to get to convention space. The only other knock is you have to take transport from the hotel, it is not walking distance to city Life

Hotel is located in a large city park allowing easy access to a road and trails up a mountain. Breakfast buffet is wonderful. Good-sized swimming pool and fitness center with friendly staff. Front desk people and concierges are all very friendly and helpful.

Overall the service is good. The breakfast has a wide variety of food. Just one issue is that we need to take taxi when go out every time. Sometimes may need to wait for >10 minutes. I would recommend this hotel.

Bad service ever in SPG hotel group

This is definitely not double bed!!! this is just twin bed, totally not fit for a family... I feel cheated!
Hotel service pretty slow and the front desk is always not in situation.
As a 5-star hotel, they are not qualified!

The staff at the front desk was helpful. However there's security check set up by the elevator, which required us to give them the room number and match our faces to their system every time we go up to our room. At least twice, the staff said they cannot find us in their system. One time they even asked for our passport, which I don't think any other hotels had ever done this. This was not the initial check in, this was just going up to our room during the middle of our stay. One day our relative who is staying at this same hotel tried to visit us in our room but was not allowed, he was told that I had to come downstairs to verify that I know him. He was also told that there's no visiting another room after 11:30pm. This had made our stay extremely inconvenient. It is a hotel, not a jail. We found the heavy security at this hotel unreasonable and will not consider staying here again. The buffet breakfast was not horrible, but it was certainly not worth the price, not even close.

A wonderful haven

Loved the hill location surrounded by foliage with views of the city from the balcony room. Appreciated the welcoming reception, room layout and design, swimming and spa facilities and breakfast buffet. The foot massage was the best thing after a day of excursions. A luxurious highlight. Club level tea and evening snack service enhanced the comfort level. The hotel grounds had many places to hike and explore. A wonderful haven.

A great oasis to base yourself

Just the best thing for a refresh and reset. Staff were just so friendly and helpful; room was great and a lovely view over the water courtyard. Breakfast - spot on. Even had the dinner buffet and couldn't fault it. The hotel is a wee way out of the main centre but the hotel will organise your taxi and help with giving drivers directions. Would like to see coffee grinds automatically supplied for the coffee plunger in the room, and couldn't get just plain black coffee for the room - it was all the 2 and 3 in 1mix. But just a little thing. Definitely was just what this \"Oh, China!\" expat needed to get her through the next five weeks.

Check in with my mum and wife. They love the hotel on the mountain, out of the city. The staff was courteous and helpful.
We love the place as it is close to nature and the fresh air.

TERRIBLE management. BE AWARE

Hotel is VERY isolated from the rest of the city because it is on top of a hill, with NO view on city whatsoever . To go anywhere you need a taxi or the hotel shuttle. There is NO walking anywhere from this hotel. Hotel promises shuttle transfers to convention center. The driver has always been late... but more importantly the shuttle broke down once they picked us up (UNSAFE CAR?)

NOTE: you are about 50 minutes to 1 hour from Convention Center (that's pretty far, as there are many good options much closer). It did not look that far/slow on map.

So the shuttle broke down, then the driver had us walk in creamy busy and DANGEROUS street of he city for 50 minutes !!! To look for a taxi as the hotel would not send the second shuttle hey promised. The driver could NOT find us a taxi. Because the hotel was SO FAR, the taxi drivers did not want to take us there (they do that a lot in China). Now, try walking with heavy bags after a long day at a trade show at night, in narrow alleys, busy streets and unpaved roads. You are lucky if you don't get killed by passing cars (or pollution) because at some point you realize the driver is just a driver, a Tesla has more initiatives than this poor guy, and you have to take the lead.

2 HOURS LATER, we finally arrive at hotel to have NO compensation from management, completely NOT sincere apologies. Had to LOUDLY ARGUE, SEVERAL TIMES, with manager who was cowardly hiding thinking the problem would simply disappear.

TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT !

No good experience at check-in

The hotel experience was overall good. But on the day of check-in I had terrible experience. After a long day of travelling, the front desk people were not easy to work with. They didn't recognize the identity we held for the kids which issued by Chinese consulate, then she asks us to go to the police station to get a certification at a very late night without even trying to hear us explaining the background of the children ID. After the ID issue was resolved. Then they were going to charge buffet cost on a 3 year old girl. Again, are you kidding me?!! We argued and they agreed to allow my daughter to have the complimentary breakfast at the end. But they told we can't have breakfast at the buffet on the 1st floor, only in the club room on 6th floor, which has much less choices. We followed their instruction on the first day, then we find out from other front desk people that it is totally ok for us to have breakfast on the 1st floor's buffet. I never see a 5 star hotel this messed up.

Secluded hotel, possibly good for couples

Was a comfortable stay. Regrettably, at check-in when I asked the price for Breakfast, I was asked to pay for Breakfast though I did not have breakfast at the Hotel. When I complained a Manager looked in to it & adjusted.

My family summer trip

Great hotel and great service. Very clean, quiet and comfortable surrounding environment. For transportation, you can either take taxi at the hotel or take their free golf cart to the street from uphill hotel, then walk couple blocks to take the city bus. Around bus stop, you can find many stores including supermarkets. Overall my family were very satisfied with our experience of this hotel. The only negative thing was that sometimes (twice in our 7-days stay) some bad customers smoked (likely in their room) and walked thru the hallways and you can smell it.

Nice hotel that while fairly new..

Staff was nice and things were fairly clean. However, some of the rooms are showing wear and tear even though the hotel isn't that old. Not an unfamiliar thing in China as building quality and maintenance isn't up to that standards of others. Xiamen itself is beautiful as is the location of the hotel. You;ll need to taxi around from here though. I'd stay again.

Also, a staff tried to tell my boyfriend he couldn't use the pool because he didn't have a swim cap? Tried to force him to buy one at 60RMB ($10). Never heard of this policy before and went down later at another time and that staff didn't even ask about it.

Hotel nested in a beautiful area

Hotel facilities are very nice but the best of Hotel is the Staff, extremely nice and caring, and almost everyone could help you in English.
Beautiful surroundings.
In general terms, a very fine 5 Star experience.
General Manager , Concierge Manager and Chef of Chinese Restaurant took very good and personal care of me when I was feeling stomach upset

What a place to stay

This was a semi business trip. A bit of business and leisure combined. This hotel was everything that it said it was and more. Comfortable rooms, great service, very pleasant staff who were very helpful. Nothing was a problem for them and their knowledge of English was generally very good. The location is in park like grounds that are relaxing and beautifully maintained. I will stay again at this hotel in a heartbeat.

Located near a mountain and is a good choice for people looking for a stay away from the city. For people who opt for easy access to the main tourist attractions, it may not be the best option as the only means to get around would be taxi and it could be difficult to capture a taxi from time to time. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Very nice neighborhood and good for people who enjoy morning run.

Fantastic value for money

Though slightly outside downtown Xiamen, this modern, recently opened 5-Star hotel offers unbeatable value for money. Situated on top of a hill it offers great views - on the downside, there isn't anything surrounding the hotel within immediate walking distance. Making your way down the impressive driveway leading down the hill would be a 10 minutes walk already.
Rooms are beautifully furnished. Impressive breakfast buffet - also suiting non-Asian palates.

Beautiful hotel in a park like setting.

We arrived early and the general manager personally escorted us to the club level to wait while our room was being prepared. We had booked a junior suite which was spacious and modern. The king size bed had a soft, comfortable American style mattress and not a hard Chinese style mattress that even many other 5 star hotels have. Our only two minor complaints are that the suite did not have a balcony as stated in the room description and that the indoor pool was not heated. The forest park around the hotel has beautiful quiet walking trails. While the hotel is not downtown, most of Xiamen is within a 20 minute ($5) taxi ride. Overall highly recommended.

Nice view of the back of a hill

Good quality hotel, rooms very comfortable. It is a bit off the beaten path, meaning taxis can be hard to get when it rains (which is often). Hotel was chosen as it was close to the airport since we were arriving late evening. The taxi driver however chose to come the long way round (ah well, that;s taxi drivers the world over). Staff very helpful too. Nice balcony attached to the room.

Beautiful Hotel Not the Best Location

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel but it is not the most convenient for getting around the city. The room was well appointed, clean and very comfortable. The staff was quite efficient. But I must say that going into town took a bit of planning since there were not always enough taxis around to transport guests to the city.

Le Meridien is a terrific hotel - very comfortable - very high quality beds! The staff are great too - very helpful and friendly. If you get a massage at the hotel, I recommend Erin - who works between the Westin and Le Meridien.

My only criticism is the horrifying price of the food and mini bar in the hotel - higher than Monaco! Eat outside of the hotel. Here's a tip - there is a huge modern shopping centre in the city - I think it is called SM or something like that, with a terrific selection of restaurants - in the non-brand building (there is one building with the big brands and one without). There are 2 good quality restaurants per floor (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, including an excellent peking duck place) and on the top floor is a cheap food court with a massive selection of very cheap chinese food.

Very nice hotel, beautiful gym, pool and facilities, but was very surprised to get a rate for a double occupancy room with only one breakfast. I don't know if it was the Meridien or Hotels.com that did that. Also, I only earned 250 starpoints for this stay for one night. That was a surprise.

Very nice hotel but lacking quality people

I like the hotel itself very much. The location is a bit out of the way but that's not really a problem. My biggest gripe is the lack of individuals who understand customer service in this hotel. From front desk to food service people, they are pretty much clueless. The restaurant serves very good breakfast but lunch, dinner and room service was not good. The dinner buffet foods felt like the food has been sitting out for hours. I ordered room service (2 eggs) and had it sent back. How can you mess up eggs? But it was inedible. The front desk staff, other than the Russian trainee who did everything she can to help out, doesn't really understand customer service. Maybe it's a language barrier since most seemed to not understand English very well.

Hotel is fantastic, clean and beautiful. The rooms are modern and everything is very non-confrontational. This may lean toward giving the hotel little chatacture, but for a nice relaxing pleasnt stay it was great. What really stood out however was the gym/spa/pool area. Simply outstanding. The indoor pool is huge, so is the hot \"tub\" right next to was more pool size as well. In the locker rooms are a sauna, steam room and cold dip which makes things really comfortable especially after a long trip. The only downside is that the location is a bit distant from the city center, but this is a resort so it is expected.

Le Meridian, Xiamen - perfection

I was there for 12 nights and cannot find anything to complain about

The hotel staff were always very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is on a small mountain and the location is beautiful and quiet. It is remote from the city but they provide free transport up and down the mountain and to the ferry port from where you have easy access to anywhere on the island

The room was spacious and clean. We had a club room which had free wifi and access to a club lounge (which served breakfast and evening food and drink) and was really comfortable.

We always ate in the club lounge so cannot comment about the restaurant food

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and cannot wait to stay there again

Internet is a rip-off.

I have to say, I was not excited about this hotel stay.
I was expecting a beautiful hotel room, and the room was very nice, however the water smelled quite strongly from the taps (bath was therefore a little unpleasant).

Room was clean, but Internet was not included.
On the expedia ad, it stated that the internet was included- imagine my surprise when I was charged a ridiculous amount of money (15% of the room cost nearly) to connect to the internet.
I firmly believe that all business hotels should have free internet access.

When I spoke to the hotel at checkout, I showed them how the expedia ad stated free internet, they agreed to waive the fee- days later I was contacted by the hotel manager (who was unavailable at the time of my checkout- as was the manager on duty) who explained that they were going to charge my card for the internet.
Considering I stayed there 3 days, and frequently travel to China, I found the nickel and dimeing exhausting.
I would not stay there again for this reason.
I think that you can find better value for money, and would recommend the metropark xiamen in it's place- breakfast is included there...

Le Meridien necesita un servicio de limpieza profunda y de mantenimiento cuidadoso.
Le Meridien Xiamen fue un hotel agradable en un entorno natural magnifico. En los últimos años se observa una falta de mantenimiento que se manifiesta en el deterior de la pintura de las paredes, el ascensor lleno de manchas. ya no es un hotel de referencia.

Absolut tolles Hotel in einer sehr schönen Lage. Auf einen Hügel mitten in einem Park gelegen mit Blick auf die Stadt oder ins Grüne. Jedes Zimmer mit Balkon. Eine wunderschönes Hotel. Die Zimmer echt sehr geschmackvoll und schön. Das Frühstück ist super und das Personal sehr bemüht und freundlich. Für den Urlaub ausgezeichnet.
Einziger großer Nachteil, das Internet ist ein Alptraum. Geht so gut wie gar nicht. In China ist es grundsätzlich nicht leicht für Europäer, aber dort war das Internet nicht zu verwenden. Komme gerne wieder, wenn ich im Urlaub bin und kein Netz brauche.
