Great hitel but staff didn't speak english.

This is the second time i stay here. Although the hotel is excellent and the staff try really hard to help, but non of them spoke good english and relied on translation apps which does not always work corectly.
You'd expect for a hotel of this calibre to be able to communicate with the staff. As if they are inly focued on local travellers not international ones.

Not as good as expect,Smoking floor, sunk bed

- I requested a smoking room, but they put us on the Smoking floor, and I am extra sensitive to smoke. I ended up having a nose allergy here while staying.
We didn't that I know that hotel in China people can actually smoke here so I didnt make a complain for my 2 nights stay here. On last night I clarify late at night about the smoking with the staff, they mentioned that they put us in a smoking floor and ask if “you dont smoke at all?” And do offer the room change but we were too tired to pack and move for less than 8 hrs until we check out.

- Bed on the 8th floor is extremely soft that you would sink in the bed. The spring came out from the side of the bed. Too disappointing for such a good brand as Kempenski. This is the worst Kempenski so far I stayed.

Warning, coming to the pool here you need a swimming cap as a regulation from the goverment. They should put this is the website or inform guests to prepare. We didn't have ours an ridiculously need to buy for another 80rmb.

- check in was smooth but the staff should inform us that the floor in smoking floor we specifically request for non smoking in the booking.
- cleaning lady was so nice that she come to our room to spray for the smoking odor so many times.

Smoking in a no/smoking room / floor!

I stayed at Kempinski Shanghai in October 2023 and had also previously stayed in Kempinski Xiamen. My recent stay was a disappointment. I booked 3 rooms; 2 King bed and 1 Twin for 1 pax (Guest, Kho Chuan Seng). My room was on a non smoking floor but the instant I opened my room door, smelled of cigarette smoke and there was an ashtray on the table next to a no-smoking sign!!!

This hotel is beautiful, but has a service environment I can best describe as hostile. Rules are plentiful and enforced with vigour. Much of this, I should say, relates to travelling with children. We booked an executive floor room. Only after arrival did we learn that children are not allowed in the executive lounge free of charge (unlike any other executive/club hotel we have ever stayed). At the swimming pool, the only motion allowed is in a single direction. Swimming across the pool is forbidden and will result in verbal redress from staff. The idea of children playing and enjoying the water is foreign here. After raising some of these issues with the hotel, they did offer some accommodations - allowing our kids in the lounge for an extra night, for example. But the general hotel environment was unwelcoming, and this seemed to be institutional, not at all a question of individual staff.

OK hotel, service could be improved a lot though.

Check in and concierge service were really good, but service at breakfast and lounge bar was mediocre and disappointing for a 5 star hotel. When it gets busy, breakfast staff get really flustered with little organisation of which tables have been allocated, then tables are cleared whilst you queue at the different stations getting your food. The cocktails at the lobby bar are also not really recommended - they didn't seem to know how to make the basic cocktails. Overall a hotel that has a good reputation but the service does not quite live up to it.

Nice hotel in good location. You just never disappointed with German hotel management. The breakfast buffet is amazing! Too many good things to eat. The manager Mr. Li of the restaurant is very observant. My 8 years old daughter had dry throat, he served her a glass of warm lemon water right away...... we really appreciated for his service.

Fabulous stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kempinski while visiting Xiamen with family. The rooms are spacious and very clean, love the details too. Staff are professional and were very helpful from the moment we arrived. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a huge variety of eastern / western options and local delights. Kids friendly hotel. We’d definitely stay again.

I checked in at midnight and the reception was not

I was told this was a premier hotel. Far from the truth. Unfortunately the property is run down and aging poorly. Not maintained very well. The reception people were very nice and helpful and the gentleman at the Paulander was very nice. Club level employees were terrible. If your fluent in Chinese your experience would probably be somewhat acceptable.

Excellent hotel for tourist and business travel

It is a good hotel- with very spacious room, well designed and decorated. Give a sense of elegance- similar to St Regis or Four Seasons, without the price. Bathroom is also spacious. The breakfast was excellent- one of the better ones I had in China, and offer plenty of Western choices as well as local choices. I would say the only negative area would be its location- it is not located to anywhere of interest in walking distance, and not much restaurant choices around the neighborhood. However, taxi is very easy to get, and you can always take a 10-15 minutes cab ride to nearby train station.

Hotel Is very nice. Views and location great. Staff is super. The only thing I did not like was the Resturant/Bar attached to hotel. Was suppose to be German Theme. But was far from it. No bar for someone to just have a drink. Was dark and set for storage. Only offered 2 beers. Was not that warm or inviting for a single person traveling.

Great stay for New Year eve in Xiamen

The hotel is located in the mid of Xiamen city good place to walk around or connect to other area of Xiamen. The German bar downstair is probably one of the great spot to stay for New Year eve in Xiamen for foreigners. The room is big and comes with a big bathroom which I really like. Can't complain about the service with free room upgrade! very friendly front deck service while check-in and check-out. Overall, it's totally worthy to spend one night here!

Had to call in engineering 3 separate times to fix power outages as well. Generally OK though , We ( my company ) still use the hotel a lot for guests

1) Super super Terrible services on the 3/F restaurant, waiter and waitress, all of them are very impolite.
2) The Bar on the 1/F, they billed you wrong price (higher) from the menu, and still trying to explain it is your fault.
3) when you stepping on the room carpet, you can feel metal nails under the carpet.

First room A/C wouldn't bring the temperature below 25 centigrade.
Second room's shower flooded entire bathroom.
Third room was finally a success!
After all this we were offered a mere breakfast refund!

I have stayed in Kempinski Hotels in Turkey and Germany and they were top notch. This one was a disappointment!

Great Hotel in Xiamen, but Internet is brutal!

Hotel was great. Colleagues were very helpful and attentive. Excellent restaurant on site, plus lively bar.
BUT, the internet service was TERRIBLE. This needs to be fixed before I'd return. When travelling on business, that's the one thing that needs to work flawlessly.

Comfortable and clean hotel in the heart of Xiamen

We stayed at the Kempinski Hotel Xiamen for 9 nights in late November. The hotel is conveniently located and close to public transportation. Catching a taxi ride outside of the hotel was a bit challenging because there were no taxis waiting outside of the hotel - we had to wait for it or walk into the main streets to grab one and it could take up to 15 minutes.

We booked two rooms in the hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable with nice finishes and bedding. We found it odd that there were no hooks or towel bars/rings in the bathrooms (well, there's only one hook).

Air quality in the rooms was good but it's a different story in the lobby and other common areas. Too much air freshener was pumped into the air to mask the smoke and other odors that it's almost Asthma-inducing.

Staff was extremely courteous and helpful - this was definitely the highlight for our experience with this hotel. Most staff understood English and were able to help us in a very timely and effective manner.

For a two-person room the hotel our rates only included buffet breakfast for one person. While there were a lot of varieties and selections, the buffet breakfast was mediocre - definitely not worth paying another CNY159 for.

Overall, I like the Kempinski Hotel Xiamen, and will stay there again next time I visit the city.

Nice hotel, but lacking service!

We ordered a bottle of wine at the lobby bar, they told us most of their wine are stored in the Chinese restaurant and now the restaurant is closed, so offered us something else. First, why would the wine of a lobby bar store in the Chinese restaurant, Second, even so, there must be someone who can access the restaurant to get wine, so it's a not good!

Overall the hotel was nice, swimming pool is good and clean. Location of hotel is also good, close to lake area!

I stayed in Kempinski for 3 nights. I had an Executive room on one of the higher up floors with a great view. There was some problem during the checking in process as they couldn't find my reservation but then everything worked out. They also forgot to tell me that I could use the Executive Lounge (their equivalent of Club Lounge) during my stay. It's a pity because I would have used it. In any case I like this hotel and it is a good place to stay in Xiamen. The room is typical of a good 5-star hotel with a comfortable bed. Clean and in good condition. The staff is helpful and friendly but most of them can only speak very basic English. Right next to the hotel there is a very nice park along a river if you like to walk or go for jogging. For other attractions you will need to take a taxi which are very cheap in Xiamen (most typical destinations cost about $3 from the hotel)

I have stayed four times at this hotel.
Usually it is very good but this time the air conditioner did not work.
Although I advised the staff it was not fixed and the room was so stuffy I had to sleep with the window open and all the traffic noise that this incurred.
The drain in the bathroom had a dreadful smell that permeated through the room.
And there were little insects that bit my feet every time I went into the bathroom.
I visit Xiamen every year, might need to find another hotel next time.

Worst Kempinski hotel I stayed. Poorly managed

They do not enforce on smoking regulations as guests smokes at common areas and in lift as well. Hotel staffs do not even bothered to regulate. Does not reflect Kempinski standards in any manner. Great hotel but poorly managed.
