Very easy access to MRT train, buses and cabs. Lots of food choices nearby. Right by the waterfront and very scenic.
The traditional Chinese breakfast was great, although the choices don’t vary too much.
The facility, although good, you can tell they are a little dated. (Ex: The sink cabinet looked a little worn.)
The window and walls were not soundproof. Our hotel room was street-facing so it was noisy with traffic and occasionally other guests. Also the window shade didn’t block the light outside so it took some getting used to for sleeping.
Overall the stay was pleasant. We were able to adjust our own room temperature, the beds and room were comfortable, and the cleaning lady was courteous and attentive.

We stayed here for a little over a week with our two young children and had the best time!

Our room was clean and comfortable, the hotel looked lovely and modern (by Taiwanese standards), the value was good and the staff was courteous. The breakfast was free and delicious. The location, right next to the MRT station and to Bitan (a large waterfront park) was perfect! It's a bit of a trek from downtown Taipei, but there are plenty of fun shops and restaurants nearby to explore.

My only tiny complaint is that there are no drawers or shelves in the rooms so keeping 4 people organized over a week was a little tricky.

Close to amenities, terminus station of Green Line (Xindian) MRT across the street, steps away from Bitan recreational area, fairly priced. Combined bath/shower has no shower curtain or glass wall and washing up sprays all over the bathroom despite greatest care. Whole hotel is tired and needs some updating (TLC?). Breakfast buffet is adequate, mostly Taiwanese style - western menu items minimal. Barely any english spoken by hotel staff as this hotel appears to be aimed at the regional/local market. Our room faced the front of the hotel and the road traffic noise meant that we could not open the window, but when closed the sound level was acceptable.

Convenient and comfortable

This is our go-to hotel for overnight stays in the Xindian area. Comfortable rooms/beds and good service. One thing that could be improved is that there are no shower walls or curtains, everything in the bathroom gets a shower when you do.
This was my first time to drive my own vehicle to New California; the parking lot can be conveniently accessed by some stairs up from the riverside parking area but there was some confusion about the parking fee. (They said there would be a parking token they would cover the fee for, the people at the parking lot said there weren't tokens because the hotel could handle it automatically from there, in the end the hotel gave me a certain amount to reimburse for the parking but it was very slightly less than the actual cost)

Good value and location

Just across from Xindian station on the MRT Green line and a 1 minute walk from the Bitan riverside area. Room was not spotless (mold on shower caulk) but was clean in general and didn't smell like cigarette smoke. Breakfast buffet wasn't very good and seemed like they didn't expect many people to eat it, but the location and rooms are good. Would stay there again.

Everything would be 10/10 except 2 problems - room smelled like smoke, no shower curtain. Really suggest making a shower curtain, and making sure nonsmoking rooms do not have a lingering smoke smell (I understand some guests may not adhere to rules). Otherwise clean, well designed and modern, excellent value for price, decent breakfast, very nice surprise tiny massage chair in the room.

Overall, the hotel location, the equipment and the breakfast food is good, just not satisfied with the following points:-
- The hotel room did not install the security lock.
- There is no equipment mirror in the room (only in the bathroom).
- The complimentary snacks in the room have been expiry.

I hope that the hotel management can improve these points. I will stay in this hotel again in August.

- 酒店房间没有安装安全锁。
- 房间里没有设备镜子（只在浴室里）。

Great value

Great value for the hotel. Clean, roomy, the two twin beds could have slept 4 people. Breakfast was excellent, not the typical continental breakfast, but Taiwanese style porridge with lots of fixings. Fresh cooked eggs and veggies, too. Would stay here again as it is right across the street from Xindian Station. Very convenient location.

Hotel is convieniently located next to a metro train and bus station. Room is clean and tidy. What is important is that the staff here are friendly and accommodating. We had a few nights stay here; even thought the breakfast were provided but we leave hotel early each morning, hence, missed all the breakfast. Staff were kind to give us fruits basket instead. Each night as we returned, we got a busker full of fresh fruits. On our last morning, we managed to enjoy the breakfast, which was, to our surprise, a healthy varieties of food, awesome. We enjoyed our stay. This hotel is strongly recommended.

An excellent hotel. Superb value for money. On one side is the bustling Xindian neighborhood. On the other side (make sure you get a room facing the river) is quiet and pristine. I read some neg reviews on the breakfast and I disagree. I think it has to do with palate. The spread is a good one and cooked nicely by the aunties. Almost like good home comfort Chinese porridge with excellent prepared \"giam\".
The only negative is other guest smoking in their room, in a non smoking hotel. This is very unfair to other guests who book this hotelbecause it is non smoking. But have to deal with the bad air. I feel there is a need for the hotel to enforce this strictly. Even to the point of asking the offending guest to leave. Somehting needs to be done about this.

The house keeping person complains she was the only one who does housekeeping, so she doesn't have time to vacuum and clean the dust.
The sheet was changed without wiping the hairs and dust off. I found a lot of hairs under it and she says it is normal.......

The lift is finally changed after last Nov. lift upgrade. This is the 6th time I stayed with family/extended family here, but this trip our room air-con was very noisy. No amount of adjusting could stop the noise except to off the air-con.

Close to essentials, great value

New to Taipei. This place is just steps to the subway station Xindian. It is also steps to the airport bus (1968). At night, upon arrival at the Xindian subway station, the hotel may be difficult to find. Facing the 7-11, the hotel is to the left. The sign is on top of the bldg, so it may be difficult to see. Look for the New California cafe sign at street level. Hotel is next to it. Have fun, request the river view at the highest level possible.

This is a small quiet hotel so service is personal. Rate included breakfast. Views over the river to scenic area. Over the road from Xindian MRT station and bus terminal easy access. Suggest buying a MRT 1 day or 2 day pass for easy travel to tourist hotspots.

The room is rather small in size but comfortable. The location is great, just in front of the MRT station. Hence easy to have access to the MRT for sightseeing. Despite limited English, the staffs at the front desk were very helpful. Overall, a good stay and definitely will come back.

Strong musty smell, it will affect your health.

Stayed in the hotel for no more than 10 minutes after checking out three rooms (2 on the 7th and 1 on the 6th floor) and they all smell musty (mold, very strong) and very visible mold on the ceiling and around the vents. Location is great (subway and bus to the airport are right in front and a nice river behind the hotel) but the room condition is not livable. I recommend finding a different place. I did not get a refund due to the fact that i booked on hotels.com but the smell of the mold was so strong that all i wanted is to check out immediately. Do not stay there or you will regret! During the whole day, all i could smell was mold and i had a hard time breathing with the little time I spent there.

Very accessible to the MRT and bus to the airport.

My family stay at this hotel for two weeks and the service was great. The location of this hotel is one of the great thing about it because to the closeness to MRT, which is just across the street. It made the commuting to anywhere so easy and makes you feel right at home living in Taiwan forever. The area to the Bitan Bridge, park and restaurant around it is so beautiful and serene. The staff at this hotel was great and the last day they even gave us extra fruit for us during breakfast. This made our stay even more special.

Even it is not located at the city center, you cannot beat the convenience factor. It is steps away from the MRT XinDian. We took a bus directly from TaoYuen Aiport, 1968, for 135NTD. The free breakfast is not great but decent. We stayed there for three days, checked out to go to BeiTeu, and came back for one night. Kept the big luggage here at the hotel. The second room was not as clean as the first one.

You can take a bus from here to WuLai (another hot spring area) too.

Convenient Hotel in Taipei

The hotel is not in the center of Taipei but it's very convenient to get to by subway (MRT). It's right next to the last stop of Hsindian line. To reach the city center, it's approx. 20 -25 mins by subway which does not bother me at all, especially since it's at the first stop, you always have seats going into the city It's a small business hotel with a view to Bi Lake. Hotel staff is very accommodating, room is on the small side but clean. Breakfast is Chinese style. With the price I pay, it's worthy it.

Love the location...

The hotel is situated right across from the Xindian MRT station and next to the beautiful Bitan River. I really miss that gorgeous view! Also, the hotel is about a 20 minuite bus ride away from Wulai, a small town famous for its aboriginal culture. As for the hotel itself, I would give it three stars at most. The rooms were tastefully designed and quite comfortable despite the small size. However, the cleanliness of the rooms not so good. I found hair on the sheets and pillow, and of course on the bathroom floor. The showerhead was broken and quite filthy. Breakfast definitely not catered to Westerners. The rooms are definitely not sound-proof. You can hear everything that goes on inside and outside of the hotel. Everything can be heard very clearly including people talking in the park early in the morning. Arrived after 2pm and the room was still not yet ready. On several occasions, I spotted a cleaner sitting on the guest bed munching on chips and watching TV. It's no wonder the rooms are never ready on time. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this hotel, mainly for its convenience and location.

Convenient location

Hotel is just across the road from the XinDian MTR stop on the Tamshui-XinDian line. It's only about 20mins ride to Taipei Main Station stop. They are also various eating places & a good sized supermarket nearby. We booked 2 rooms, 1 with a Double bed (cheaper rate) & 1 with 2 Single beds (Higher rate). All their rooms with 2 Single beds are facing the road and not facing the lake. At our requests, the hotel changed us to a Double bed room with lake view, but they could not refund us the difference in rates as they said we paid to Hotels.com, not directly to them.

shocked when i saw the exterior and did i get myself a wrong hotel for the next 7 days when i arrived on 12/04/2013 at Taipei? Definitely a BIG NO, room itself where its the whole place to rest your body and legs after a day long shopping is fantastic. Clean, tidy and very comfortable for a 3 star rated hotel.

Front desk is friendly although i was directed the wrong station to visit one of the night markets but anything you ask, its attended immediately. Was pleasantly surprised when i tip one of the room service lady as she had said no, explaining its her job for an additional pillow...

Will definitely return to stay...plus, 1 min walk to MRT which is awefully convenient to visit Taipei...Cheers

New California Hotel

There is a straight bus from Taoyuan international airport, bus ride is around 1h15mins. It is very convenient. The hotel is located right beside the MRT station, you can get around taipei city easily. The downside is the hotel is pretty far away from the city, takes about 30 mins to travel up to ximending.

Facilities of the hotel is good. There is free wifi and the connection is fast. There is a mini night market near the hotel so even if you are hungry at night, you can take a 5 mins walk and get some food there. There is a 7-11, watsons and cafe nearby.

You can take a bus (849 if im not wrong) from the bus station to Wulai. In Wulai, you can walk up the mountain to see the waterfall and try out the hot springs there. The bus ride is around 15 mins, so it is quite fast.

Good Stay at New California Hotel

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights first, then another night after my return from Hualien. I booked a Superior Twin, but some nights, I had a local person staying with me, and the hotel is flexible. All I have to do is pay an additional NT$300, and additional bed linen, toiletries and towels were provided, plus breakfast. The staff were helpful. They allowed me to store my big piece luggage when I went to Hualien. The location of the hotel is most convenient with MRT just a few steps away. The only thing is that the breakfast lacks variety. Overall, I am very satisfied with the hotel stay.

Although it is located a little bit further to many major attractions and city area. However, it is just beside the Bitan Lake, so every morning, you'll wake up to see the beautiful scene of Bitan. Or you can also have a morning jog in front of the lake. Its breath-taking. There's also a Bitan draw bridge there too. So whether you are taking the day or night scenery, its a good location. One good point about this hotel is that its just behind the Xindian Metro station and bus stops, so it doesn't really matter if it is far from other attractions. From Taoyuan International Airport to get to the hotel was smooth, just take 2068 to Xindian metro station will do, so you don't have to spend a lot on taxi fare which can cost around 1,200 NTD. Just 135 NTD! If you are looking for something for supper, there are a few 7-11 convenience store around and fast food chains like McDonalds and KFC plus other stores that are selling local delights like ru rou fan.

We had a great time at this hotel! The room was beautiful and very clean! It is a bit cold though (and you can't control the temp) so bring a sweater. However, it is nice to cool off after the hot, humid days! The location is right across the street from the metro so it is easy to get around. It is on the edge of town so you are out of the tourist bubble which is good and bad. The breakfast was ok but it was a buffet so at least you won't go hungry. There is a beautiful river right behind the hotel that is nice to walk along especially at night! There is also a small night market and a super cheap movie theater down the road. Great location! One word of warning though. Music from somewhere can be heard in the rooms from 8:30 in the morning to 10:00 at night. It isn't that loud but if you are a light sleeper who likes to sleep late, this might not be the place for you. However, if you are out sightseeing all day, it won't bother you much at all. Overall, I recommend this hotel highly!

1.於15：30入住分配的房間發現被單床套有黃液體、其他顏色髒污，立刻要求更換被單床套，但櫃檯先說打掃阿姨去吃飯、在房間等了快1小時沒回應，再打電話到櫃檯去問，櫃台又說剛見到打掃阿姨有說了，但他不在不知道跑去哪了，我說你確認好什麼時候來換，趕快回電給我，過20分鐘完全沒有聯繫，再打電話到櫃檯去問，櫃檯說盡快聯繫阿姨更換，過10分鐘後來一位主管敲門說幫忙換房，一開始就幫我們換房就好了讓我們在房間枯等快1小時30分.服務人力調配及服務對應有很大的問題。
2.房間隔音不良，外面車道交通噪音及門外走道腳步及談話聲明顯。
3早上餐廳用餐一位沒穿制服外場阿姨，感覺好像在那邊監視所有人用餐，臉上完全沒有笑容，說話請客人收拾餐具態度如同命令一般（雖然有說“請”），完全不和藹可親，用餐心情大受影響，（內場阿姨確是很客氣）。
4.早餐自助餐點美味加分！停車有補助加分！
期待飯店服務更上一層樓！

因為考試的關係，在這住兩個晚上，這間旅館是舊大樓翻新，可以看出大廳跟走廊都有重新裝修，但房間內部還是有許多老舊的痕跡。

第一個晚上房間煙味蠻重的，冰箱的門上方溝槽跟放置冰箱的櫃子內都有很多灰塵，床底旁邊也累積陳年的灰塵（如果有在家大掃除的人可以理解我在說什麼），可以看出從來沒有大掃除過，都只清掃明顯可見之處。

隔天詢問能不能換房因為異味太重，告知已客滿無法換但會於上午打掃時除臭，除臭過後菸味就不見了，所以第二天就睡得比較好。

隔音很不好，6樓面捷運站會一直聽到公車進出站聲，機車汽車喇叭聲，凌晨也有飆車聲。

浴室乾濕分離，洗手台有點小，廁所馬桶是免治的，但看起來也是很舊了，浴室的角落及磁磚溝槽都有發霉跟陳年污垢，也是可以看出都沒在大掃除跟除霉。

冷氣無法調溫維持在22度，沒有停車空間，只能附近停車場停車（一個小時40元），每晚旅館會補貼2百元停車費。

蓮蓬頭水壓很強，旅館的早餐還不錯，走路就可以到新店老街、碧潭吊橋、捷運新店站就在旁邊。
