I has serious problems with the Internet connection for almost three consecutive days. The building needs renovation. It is a nice location with the most breathtaking view to Table Mountain. But a lot of things in the room need to be upgrade.

Very bad apartment.

The apartment is as old as the mountains. No cooling or heating. It was very bad. I can not recommend it.

Rooms bad!!!

The place is bad , room was smelling terrible with old furniture.
The only good thing was the friendliness at the reception on check inn.
However i will definitely not stay there again or recommend to someone

A great location a great view

A good location for the CBD, nightlife and access to Table Mountain and the surrounding area. The staff were helpful although there is no-one at reception after 6.00pm. South Africa suffers from power blackouts and the lifts do not have a back up generator which made for an interesting walk up the stairs to my 13th floor apartment. The shopping mall has all of the shops and supermarkets that you need for a stay in an apartment.The view from my 13th floor apartment was great especially at night.

The lady at reception was unfriendly, no greeting

the lifts was out of order, waited like five minutes at a time, ended up using the staircase which had a very disturbing smell.

Has an excellent location

The best thing about this accommodation is that it is very close to two MyCiti bus routes. It's easy to get to Table Mountain and the Waterfront. The Gardens MyCiti bus stop allows one to top up the bus card there - not all stations allow this. The apartment is above a mall so it's very convenient if you need to buy something quickly or draw cash.
The apartment needs a bit of a renovation but it is quite comfortable and convenient It's useful to have a kitchen. The views are fantastic.
There is safe free parking in the mall if you have a car.
At that height it can be extremely window and howl through the windows which can keep you awake.
The internet is there, but not very good. Slow and cuts out a lot.

Value for money

Accomodation located in secure Shopping Mall with amongst others Pick'n'Pay convenience store, Woolworths Food and Hartlief Delicatessen (German Butchery + warm meals). So all basic needs can be covered within minutes.

Close to the City and walking distance through Company Gardens, where parking space is limited or pay parking.

The apartments are fully furnished and even a microwave available. For family with children excellent as either sleeper coach as option or additional beds can be arranged (2 children max).

The room is not big, but as one is more outside than inside not a problem. The views are splendid either towards Table Mountain or versus Lion's Head/Signal Hill and City.

Free parking in secure parking decks is also provided for duration of stay.

Adaptors for non South African plugs or extensions should be purchased at Clicks or Pick'n'Pay (in Shopping Mall) as non standard in the rooms.

I can recommend the apartments and have been visiting frequently during my holidays.
The friendly reception staff (Colette/Elizma), which has customer oriented service approach, has to be mentioned.

This is in my view value for money and well spend.

Pillow cases in the room we stayed didn't look and smell fresh ( Room 502). pillow cases had stains and hair on it. room carpet had dried stains. Its a great place please update the room. kitchen really need updated appliances.

Nice hotel in the middle of a shopping mall.

Hotel within walking and driving distance from interesting attractions in Cape Town, plus a majestic view of the Table Mountain. For a family of four, with 2 kids 11 and 2 years old, that was the perfect place. I recommend the hotel further.

Thoroughly enjoy visiting my son in CT. Very old rooms, curtains a bit grubby.Pity that the TV channels limited and TV not that clear, but however would most definitely stay there again.Staff very efficient and friendly.

The unit could do with a face lift.The main window did not open and close properly.The plug in the kitchen was in a very bad state and really not electronically safe. Frustration when oneneeds to put kettle and toaster on at same time.

Hotel situated above shopping complex that makes it convenient. Staff were helpful. Luxury suite was anything but luxury. Old furniture. Kitchen appliances horribly old. Fridge is a tiny bar fridge. No airconditioning in room. Windows made lots of noise every night when the wind picks up.

Definitely not value for money!

Well, the good things - in a shopping mall so great access to shops and restaurants, the view of the table mountain is amazing, really close and upfront. The bad things - poor service, no 24 hour reception service, no AC in the room, no iron till I requested one, at that, I was given a really old iron. No hair dryer, the kitchen facilities were very old I could not bring myself to use the cooker. Dirty bathroom and old, shower head kept dangling from the wall and wouldn't stay up. Dirty looking and old towels. The sound of the wind from the table mountain is enough to get you deaf with window and door fittings clattering and clanging. No room service. Only 6 TV channels with 4 of those local channels.

Self Catering, Central Capetown 2.5 star

Situated in a good area close to Mount Nelson Hotel and Central Cape Town and conveniently situated above a shopping centre with a large store retailer making it convenient to self-catering. In the evening if you which to have serious dining I was surprised to find out the best I could find was Patisseries with Good croissants and sandwiches
Positives: Not a bad room, but it is dated and needs revival. Good Kitchen for self-catering, Wonderful view of either Town or Table Mountain, depending on where you are situated. Microwave, large fridge, Oven. Good security system on the My Citi bus route. Flat screen – normal array of DSTV channels
Negatives: No-wifi or very poor wifi. Room and Bathroom could do with a revival. Shower within bath. Only a bar of soap provided, pack your shampoo’s etc. No air Conditioning, fan only
Overall due to its centralness and value for money I would rate it okay- 2.5 star.

Free car parking bonus
Strong winds caused windows of apartment to rattle and interrupt sleep and lifts a little unreliable.
No air con but fan supplied when requested .

An unexpected Capetown gem

When I booked this hotel I chose it for price and convenience. I was amazed at the little gem that I had found. Centrally located.. the Gardens Centre Holiday apartments Cape town turned out to be a well equipped lhigh rise apartment located in a shopping mall. The reception staff were ultra friendly an d helpful. We arrived in Capetown from a cruise and had a ton of luggage. As the hotel had no porters, they arranged for a security guard to help us with the luggage. Above and beyond. The apartment was spacious, immaculatey clean, fully equipped, with a magnificent view and I would highly recommend it.

Not as happy as I could be

The room was a bit dirty. Things like glasses and cutlery were not absolutely clean (lip marks on glasses). The toaster did not work and nobody was around to advise at 6am when I needed it. Also, toaster kept tripping the electricity. Bathroom - toilet flusher sprayed water over the side of toilet. Black mould all over bath and shower tiles. plumbing noisy at night.
WORST OF ALL THE ROOM SMELT OF CIGARETTE SMOKE, ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNING (7am onwards)!!?? Smell was coming through a ventilation duct in the room.

The hotel is located at the base of Table Mountain and is secure due to being inside a shopping centre complex.

Hotel service is non-existent between 6pm-8am (reception closed).

Power outage took place from 6pm on the night we stayed there. We were in one of the supermarkets at the time and the supermarket forewarned us just before the power was to go off as they had a generator. We finished shopping once the generator kicked in and got to the reception area as soon as possible (about 6.05pm) where the reception staff were quickly making their way out of the area to go home and leave us in the lurch having not told us of any upcoming power outage.

Power was off for over 2 hrs and judging by one of the people we spoke to this was not an irregular event. So we were stuck in a dark room with no TV, no access to cooking facilities for the food we had bought to cook, we had to use the toilet in pitch blackness and we were simply forced to go to bed, hoping the power would go back on.

The weather was extremely windy (it may pay to research with people you know if windy weather is a frequent occurrence). The windows seemed rattled strongly due to strong winds all afternoon, evening, night and morning and was extremely loud keeping us awake.

Unfortunately, we found pubes in the bath as well which was a bit disconcerting.

Based on our experiences, we cannot give a positive recommendation.

VERY Disappointing

We were looking forward to our stay. On entering the room (510) first impression was good. Lovely view on Table Mountain. - But there the pleasure stopped!
We went down to Pick and Pay to get some essentials, mainly food, on returning to the room we unpacked and opened a cupboard to keep our purchase and to our HORROR there were 5 - Yes FIVE cockroaches running around inside, so we tied up everything in Ziplock bags - not a good start. The cooking utensils were very basic and the pots were badly burnt on the inside. We went back to P & P and bought a bottle of Savlon and a can of doom. Savlon to wash everything (there was old food dried up on a couple of knives and spoons) and doom to spray every where. Doom did part of the job but later that night I went to the bathroom and found more Cockroaches. Also in the kitchen when I switched the light on.
The 3rd day we were there, the light in the bathroom wasn't working, I reported this to the manager / reception in the morning and again in the late afternoon, it wasn't fixed when we left. The beds were comfortable.
Altogether and unpleasant experience!

Excellent location and secure complex

Ellen did her utmost to make our long stay at the complex comfortable and assisted us in every need, good underground and secure parking. The owners should invest in upgrading the property as needs refurbishing, a bit outdated and should also offer free wi if like most other hotels in CT. Otherwise, the apartments are spacious and well equipped.

A series of rooms above the shopping centre, this was a reasonable place to stay. The shopping centre added to the security when leaving the lift. Kitchen, double bed, TV and good bathroom. Probably all I needed for my stay. Not exactly centrally located, but a twenty plus minute walk would get you into town. Supermarket downstairs was very useful. If you book the open top tourist bus, it stops close to the hotel; very useful, especially at the end of a day's sightseeing.

My husband and I certainly did not expect to find such comfortable accommodation at the Garden Centre Apartments.
We were very impressed with the friendliness of the office staff, the excellence of the service and were impressed with how clean and comfortable the apartment was. Have recommended to friends they book in with you. Were able to walk to Gardens and station as well as to My City Bus stops. Thanks for a dream holiday

Comfortable self-catering very centrally located

I enjoyed staying at Garden's Centre Holiday Apartments which is very conveniently situated in Central Cape Town, in close distance to many amenities and attractions. This is comfortable and clean accommodation which is great value for for travellers on a budget. A great self-catering option. Could do with a bit of updating and additional basic kitchen equipment (such as a can opener), but these are little things in what was a very enjoyable stay.

Good location spoilt by terrible winds

The hotel is in a good location above a shopping centre but it is very tired and in need of refurbishment. The terrible winds which Cape Town sometimes suffers whistled through the apartment and were very scary and noisy. The lifts were also problematic. The electrical connections for appliances did not look too safe.

Great Location

Very good location, above a lovely shopping centre. Comfy beds, and lovely clean linen. The rooms need a revamp...bathrooms need to be totally revamped.... and a proper shower with pressure! Furniture in lounge/kitchen needs to be replaced, and kitchen revamped! No hairdryer as stated in the advert. No wine glasses. Outdated stove. We did not use the kitchen, we only slept in the apartment, so for us it was reasonable and fab location!
