I like the room and the location.
I didn't like how if you need water you have to pay for it :(.
Its water it should be included in room service.

Amazing service,staff and food
The breakfast staff is excellent...Neveen, Ragab, Mohamed, Ahmed, Laila, all the chefs really everyone of them .as well as the supervisors ...can't remember all the names but outstanding staff and service.
All what this hotel need is to renovate the rooms that are still have carpets and change the windows and curtains in the rooms

Beautiful hotel. Nice rooms with good views. Amazing rooftop restaurant with live music (a flute player). A bit too loud in the morning if you are just waking up and want a quiet breakfast. But overall, wonderful !

Welcome drink in the lobby and dessert in the room was terrible
price is very high for the services provided specially cleaning
space of room isn't matching to the ones on Expedia, very small room and space isn't as mentioned on Expedia
Valet service representative isn't available all the time specially at night (9- 12 am) and parking entrance is very far away than the hotel you need to take your car to the parking by your self and streets are very narrow, busy and not easy to walk through to reach the parking area
No flowers in the room or air freshener, toilets are not cleaned well and disinfectants used smell so bad, soap, shampoo and shower gel smell aweful and bed sheets are veey clean but detergents aren't smell good or fresh and sheets aren't changed everyday
no Iron or table in the room, no slippers or bathrobes available in the room, dust is very clear on bed wall tips , AC opening and TV remote and floor sides as well.
the best things there is Staff , breakfast and sea view.

The location of the hotel is excellent overlooking the sea. The hotel is renovated. The check in was smooth and rapid. All the staff were friendly , very polite and willing to help. The room view over the sea is wonderful. the room is clean, tidy and comfortable, even if it is a little bit small. Breakfast is more than excellent, very wide variety and delicious. During or check out, as a compliment they gave us 2 bottles of water and 2 juice bottles.Highly recommend the hotel and I enjoyed my stay and will stay again.

It is a nice hotel. Near to Stanley Bridge. Breakfast is fantastic and lot of options available. However, room and bathroom is very small like of a 3* IBIS hotel. Prices are very high and NOT justifying for this small room.

Would recommend this Hotel on Corniche in Alexandr

Nice hotel just past Stanley Bridge. Undergoing some renovations in the reception area this trip. Nice bar and has a nightclub downstairs. Room has good sea views. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good selection for breakfast buffet. Anyone coming to Alexandria should download Careem App for taxis, very good service and cheap.

How hotels change with change of management

Last week I spent one night at hotel Romance(ex.mercure),I won’t comment on the structure where u have to drive across 2 streets at the back of the hotel to reach the back door of the hotel to park and find urself all of a sudden at the 3rd door climbing stairs with no elevators (thank god i left my luggage at the front before I go to park my car).
All the personnel are efficient and friendly,rooms are clean and tidy with its basic amenities, but the level of the hotel dropped dramatically with a night club and loud music that u can hear every where with a standard of customers that shouldn’t belong to such a place.
Although there are cameras everywhere, this is the type of place that the first thing that comes to your mind when u get into your room is to lock your door and find a piece of furniture to put behind.
To summarize, a fairly good place with a lot of signs of the old chain , good personnel but a lousy atmosphere and degrading outlets and clientele.

Needs a lot of work

The best things about the hotel were the views from the room and the friendly staff. The noise from the road could easily be heard and the rooms required maintenance. The breakfast buffet was pretty, but the taste was horrible. Needs improvement.

we booked this 4 star hotel.... and we found this ruin upon arrival... see pictures...
we understand a hotel can be under renovation.. but at least INFORM the clients! and give eventually a discount!
bcs 130 dollars a night in such a wrack is not acceptable! noise and dirt night and day!
it was a nightmare!

I stayed at the hotel 5 night. Location is good. Nice staff. The problem started when I arrived to find scaffold around the whole hotel and hard to find entrance and my first thought that the hotel is closed. At day 4 going to my room after breakfast I felt that I was going to die from coughing and not able to breath because they sprayed somthing in the whole floor without saying any thing. I was in my room for almost an hour when I get a call saying that they sprayed chemical for the on going construction and they ask if I need to get another room. It was to late for that. When I was going out of the hotel the same day I was shouted at from a construction person to walk on the left side of the narrow corridor leading to the exit because of falling rocks. They shouldn't accepted my reservation and closed the hotel during renovation.

I usually stay there when visiting Alexandria. Friendly staff and excellent customer service. Good location, easy to access multiple places and restaurants. Rooms need a bit refurbishing as they are already old. Price is ok for the level provided. At this range, this is the best hotel to select in Alexandria.
Currently having exterior maintenance which may improve the hotel image. Food quality is average

The mini bar was not working and when we asked for another one they said its job is not to keep things cool in the 1st place!
When we were out of complementary tea and water they said they will not refill it because they are only free on the first day and that if we need any we should buy it from the hotel!
Breakfast buffet is way lessa than average when it comes to variety and quality. This should be a 3 star hotel.
Also there was ongoing construction work with drills and hammers. They should communicate this to the guests in advance as it made my stay very uncomfortable.

16 night stay at the Romance

Had a good stay at the Romance Alexandria
The rooms were a little small but the view was fantastic, everything was central so you could easily get around in a taxi. Breakfast was included which was very good.
The only downside for us that they didn't provide you with complimentary bottled water throughout your stay and tea and coffee which I thought was strange but other than that it was clean and comfortable with good housekeeping every day.
Wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again on my next visit to Alexandria.

\"red\" wine no white ..what type of red wine when asked the yound lady she said it RED, one Egyptian wine was all they had no white one RED wine....funny. Came back one evening for a RED and it was closed why ?? the girl was off that day so it was not open .....asked when they will have a WHITE next week we will have WHITE wine I had to laugh...........

The hotel is in good location with friendly staff but while leaving the hotel I was asked to pay more money as the US dollar rate against the Egyptian pound had changed. They then said it's ok as I have already paid in dollars and would've paid the difference if I paid in EGP. This is the most ridiculous thing I encountered. Also there was a strong acetone smell in level 9 that appeared from time to time and made me dizzy. I informed the receipt on but didn't hear anything back. Make sure you have you reservation with you and keep the receipts.

On top of the fact Alexandria is not a recommendable destination AT ALL, the quality of the facilities, the breakfast buffet and the overall experience were very poor. The Hallways smelled to cigarette, the bathroom had issues with the sink and the shower. The rate they charge has nothing to do with the quality of the experience.

Nice hotel with great location

I recently stayed here for four nights. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The waiters in the restaurant were exceptionally good. The breakfast buffet was very good and the restaurant had good food. It is right across from the Mediterranean Sea so it has great views in a great location. The only thing missing would be Wi-Fi in the room and a swimming pool. Other than that I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Mecure was great, very nice staff and 24/7 services. Very helpful and excellent English spoken.

Alex is a great city, very safe and friendly. Distances are farther than you think so get a map. Library and pharos and really worth seeing as is Pompeys Pillar. Thursday night is the best night out.

Wonderful hotel and staff!

I picked this hotel through Expedia, simply based on the reviews. I was extremely happy with my choice! The hotel is a beautiful property, the rooms are plush, comfortable, beautifully decorated, spotless, and have all of the amenities. There was even a complimentary plate of fresh fruit and two bottles of water, which was a very nice touch.

The staff was super, especially Ahmed and Aya at the front desk. The restaurant was delightful and the staff was very accomodating. The fact that the restaurant is open 24 hours is wonderful.

Everyone, from housekeeping to the security staff, was top-notch. And, the front desk was always there to answer questions and to give advice. The price was quite reasonable, which was as added bonus. I highly recommend this hotel!

The room was not clean whatsoever.. The lamp next to the bed had a chewing gum stuck to it( very disgusting). We took a picture of it because we were intending to send a complaint.. Also, the runner on the bed had a lot of stains as if it was not ever washed.. The sofa was stained too. The best thing about this hotel was the friendly service we received from the guy preparing the omelettes during breakfast time. I think this review requires your consideration.

The hotel is on the beach in a central location in Alexandria. The price was moderate. Breakfast was included and it was very good. The rooms were very small. Bathroom was tiny. There was internet service in the room but only if I can use Ethernet connection. My Apple computer did not have a plug for it. The street below was extremely noisy at night. Many people were smoking in the lobby even though it is forbidden!

I booked the worst room in my life, my room was 1006 in the 10th floor.
I used to check the window glass cleanliness.. the left side was clean, the right one never cleaned before !!!
Room .... very small !!!
Toilet and bathroom .... water drops came from the light spot top of the sink.
the best thing in the room was the LG TV.

the most funny thing is \" inside the elevator there is a quality control number 2424, you can call and report any issue related to the hotel and service quality\" .... Mr. Quality control please go and check your hotel rooms quality !!!

I booked this hotel for my brother and his wife and their son \"less than 2 years\", so I'm writing and what he told me to write, I know the are myself but hotel Mercury. The rooms are quite small, we had a junior suite but balcony, we missed that specially on our anniversary. The staff were nice and location is great at the \"Cornish\", in all nice. Breakfast nice. Not bad at all for a weekend or a couple of days on the beach. The situation in Egypt is not good though, but this has nothing to do with hotel.
