As a world traveler and a professional clinician, I've never felt so unwelcome or judged.
Front staff had horrible attitude.
Brutal service, like I was doing the most severe injustice by checking in and paying them.

Judged because I had a service dog.
The room was very broken down.
Truly disappointed.

Suprised with having to have a credit card for a $50 deposit. TV didn't work, front staff was rude and very hard to understand. I left after 3hrs because i was totally disgusted with the hotel.

The front desk person was probably the most friendly clerk I have met in many years. Air conditioner worked fine. There was no breakfast of which I was aware. Bed was comfortable. Decor was nice, but the carpet should probably be replaced, since it was very worn. I would stay there again.

Room smell really bad, we tried to stay but gave us headache, we asked to change rooms they disn't like but agreed. Shower water was very hot and wheb you try to change anything would stop working. Swimming pool was closed. Would not recommend, regret it but didn't have any other option.

This was a very pleasant stay for us. It is an older hotel, and the pool was out of commission (as listed). The room smelled a little bit too much like cleaning fluids, but other than that it was very clean and pleasant. The owners were extremely nice and accommodating, and they were understanding when the kids that were traveling with us dropped a box of muffins. The provided continental breakfast was modest but fresh, and we appreciated the very clean facilities. We would be very happy to stay here again.

The guy at the front desk didn’t speak English and was not very friendly. I had to wake him up out of his hotel room to get breakfast, but really there was no breakfast like advertised. The bars were expired in 2023 and the coffee had been sitting in the pot for probably a month. Don’t be fooled by the free to go breakfast that is advertised. The bed was comfy but the room smelled like smoke and the hairdryer was from the 70s. I get that it was only $100 but I would expect this to be a $50 hotel instead. It was, however, quiet which was nice. Unless you are desperate, I wouldn’t go back.

Awful place. No staff anywhere - you have to call on an intercom and 10 minutes later someone drives up to check you in. My room / TV didn’t work, air con only on a central timer at night so uncomfortable, shower made a loud screeching noise when used, bathroom door had a hole in it. Dog fee ridiculously expensive. Don’t recommend this place to anyone.

I would never recommend anyone stay at Magnuson my wife and i arrived at the hotel and had to be buzzed in. Check in went okay. We arrived at our room which was at the end of the block at the rear of the property, next to our door was a broken Pepsi vending machine, a broken toilet, a seat to be used in the shower for a handicapped person a garbage can had not been emptied and was overflowing. Entering the room we found it to be in need of renovation the floor which was a composite material was taped together in places, worst of all was left over food in the refrigerator which was going moldy and a opened bottle of wine, the bathroom door had a hole kicked in it that made the whole experience worse . We left to get lunch close by, and discuss the condition of the room, we made a decision to leave and find a different place to stay.

This is a basic motel…no frills, so to speak. Only coffee in the lobby and a prepackaged sandwich. BUT staff friendly, it’s clean, beds are good, AC fine. It served our purposes fine. There is a Dunkin’ Donuts and a gas station really close as well as Howell itself just across the freeway.

Very disappointed! False advertising on their website, it showed a pool and Wooly Bullys restaurant/bar in their parking lot. Both were closed and have been for awhile according to the guy that checked me in. The air conditioning unit is loud (a ringing noise). There is a nasty dirt ring around the bottom of the tub, looks like it hasnt been cleaned ever. The laminate flooring at the foot of the bed isn't cut properly and is a trip hazard. I didn't see anything about a pet fee online but they charged me $45, that's way more than most places.
I have a very disappointed 6 year-old that was looking forward to playing in the pool. I would not recommend this place and I won't be staying here again.

Small thing kept me from giving it a perfect 10. It's an older hotel, but it's very well maintained and very clean! The lobby was locked a lot, except during breakfast hours, and response to the doorbell was not very quick. No kleenex in the room, which is a necessity for me. And I wish there was a second lighted mirror in the room, so two women could get makeup on at the same time.
All in all, it was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Also, it was in a perfect location for our stay.

My son and I went downstate for the Michigan game, And didn’t really feel like spending $200 for a room. This place was in our price range and we just needed hot water and comfy beds. The Magnuson was a nice stay. Staff was friendly, we had a microwave, fridge and a nice tv … and comfy beds. Now if you’re a princess or have a high maintenance spouse, don’t come here… then all of us won’t have to read a long winded or dramatic review about how terrible it was. The Magnuson Hotel in Howell Michigan is not The Four Seasons, but it is a nice little hotel that we were satisfied with for the night.

The room was clean, staff was friendly and was a fair price for the room but unfortunately on the listing under \"pets\" it says it is pet friendly and up to two twenty-pound dogs can stay. However, you have to look under \"fees\" to see that there is actually a fee for a pet to stay. I have always found in the past that if there is a fee the hotel lists them under \"pets\". I found this experience to be deceptive, but I don't know if it is the hotel's fault or hotels.com.

Horrible experience from check-in to check-out. They were giving people working keys to rooms that were already occupied WITH PEOPLE IN THEM. Lock on our room didn’t work. They had to personally let us in each time. No heat in our room. Zero heat in February! It wouldn’t even turn on. Apparently they were fixing breakers on the majority of rooms all evening. Everything was outdated and in poor condition.

This location definitely needs some updates. One example was the blow dryer (see photo) or is that a vacuum? Also, I got a little surprise when I got there & saw a sign saying \"No pets\"! When I inquired about that (since the booking indicated that it was pet friendly) I was told that they had limited rooms & that I should've called them directly after making the reservations! On top of that, I was charged an additional $45/day (pet fee), but was told that it's normally $75/day, so they apparently were giving me a deal! I had a similiar situation like this one (at a different hotel chain) when I booked through a third party.

Extra charge for no reason

I was there 2 nights for an paintball event. It was exactly what I needed and it wasn't too far from the field. I had prepaid for my reservation. When I got home I had an extra charge of $10.70 on my card for no reason. I'm still trying to get a refund.
