This is a classic luxury hotel. I can't imagine the amount of time and energy it takes to upkeep this property. But they somehow manage to maintain a spotless, manicured and warm environment. The room was quite large and rich in design. The restaurant and the staff who work there are excellent. I was here for some mother/daughter time and we loved making this our base to visit the surrounding towns. Timeless elegance!

I stayed at Villa di Piazzano for two nights and overall had a lovely experience. The check-in process was seamless, and the staff were warm, professional, and very attentive, which set a great tone from the start. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful grounds and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it feel like a true Tuscan escape.

I booked the Suite Garden, which was comfortable, with a very clean and modern bathroom. However, I think the room could benefit from a few updates—particularly the bed, which wasn’t the most comfortable, and the closet, which unfortunately had a bit of an old, musty smell.

Due to the weather and timing of my stay, I didn’t get a chance to enjoy the pool, though it looked wonderful—I really wished I could have taken advantage of it. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming compared to the setting, and I didn’t have the opportunity to try the restaurant, so I can’t comment on that part of the experience.

Overall, Villa di Piazzano is a stunning property with excellent staff and great potential. With a few updates to the rooms and an improved breakfast, it would be truly exceptional.

La propiedad esta impecable al igual que las habitaciones, super limpias, cómodas y A/C super fuerte (no muy comunes en Europa) Staff fue muy amable y la cena espectacular. Es un deleite caminar la propiedad. Literalmente en cada metro puede tomarte una foto de ensueños. Recomendamos este hotel 200%. Esta a solo minutos de Cortona una linda ciudad para visitar. Villa de Piazzano te dejara en shock con su belleza desde que vienes por la carretera entre una hilera interminable de pinos cipreses. Simplemente Stunning.

Our recent 4 night stay at Villa di Piazzano was truly perfect in every way! Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary could not have been more enjoyed! Having booked our stay 6 mos in advance - I communicated many times via email during that time, seeking itinerary advice from the Conceirge. I always received very fast responses with creative ideas for our schedule that ended up proving most enjoyable. Cortona is a short, 10 minute drive away. Our arrival day was a dream, as we drove up the cypress lined drive which gave the feeling of arriving a royal residence! We were warmly greeted and instantly felt that our arrival was anticipated by the staff. We bonded very quickly with several of the team during our stay and experienced their excellent and warm hospitality. Our room, Luna Piena, proved to be absolutely perfect! Spotlessly clean and most roomy. We especially loved the bath area and roomy shower. Our room was accurately historical with every modern convenience. We enjoyed opening the windows each cool morning and loved listening to the birds sing. The property grounds were stunning! So much detail and care! The maintenance/gardening crew should be awarded! Amazing! We enjoyed wandering around the gardens and admiring all the flowers and plants! The swimming pool was crystal clear and the perfect temperature! Restaurant food was OUTSTANDING! I’m not sure how another resort hotel ANYWHERE in Tuscany region could top the experience we enjoyed at Villa di Piazzano!

Villa di Piazzano was the undeniable highlight of our Tuscany trip — and quite possibly the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The property itself is stunning: a beautifully preserved historic estate set in the peaceful hills near Cortona, surrounded by gardens, vineyards, and the golden light of the Tuscan countryside.

But what truly set this place apart — what made it unforgettable — was the food.

We were treated to an extraordinary culinary journey: over 19 exquisite courses, each one more delicious and artfully presented than the last. Every dish felt like a masterpiece — bold in flavor, flawless in technique, and crafted with the kind of passion you’d expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The chef didn’t just cook — they told a story with each plate.

We stayed at Villa di Piazzano as part of our honeymoon and highly recommend it to future guests. The hotel is the epitome of a luxurious, boutique hotel and is easily a 5-star experience.

Our suite was spacious and clean with ample bathroom and leisure space. The courtyard outside of our room was very nice.

The pool and restaurant were top notch, and the staff were incredibly helpful and personable. My wife and I also enjoyed jogging through the picturesque countryside together in the morning. If you are looking for a relaxing and luxurious place to relax in Tuscany - this is the place!

We booked a superior room and were given a corner room in the villa on the 1st floor. It was a beautiful room. Service is impeccable, staff are welcoming, super friendly and helpful. The room receives a second refreshing, water is replaced daily in the room, the wi fi is great. Housekeeping is fantastic - can't say enough good things about the staff. Breakfast is brought to the table and it is superb. Overall loved our 3 nights. As an aside, if you're lucky you will get to meet Jack the Border Collie (a very smart and fun dog).

We had a wonderful 1 week stay at Villa di Piazzano. The grounds / setting right in the countryside were breathtaking with beautifully manicured gardens. The staff were lovely and attentive. We loved spending slow days by the pool and eating al fresco in the courtyard. Facilities were very clean and well cared for - they even have a little gym which was great. We stayed in the Studio Passerini room which had gorgeous architectural / interior details and had one of the best views on the property. Loved our stay and were sad to leave thank you!

Beautiful property but sad place-Stay elsewhere!!!

When we first arrived at the property, we were amazed at the beauty of the area and grounds. The villa itself is beautiful-traditional Tuscany farm style with an elegant aesthetic throughout. However, there were several areas that could have been improved.
The good:
1) Large rooms with elegant furnishings and excellent air conditioning (we were there when it was 90 degrees!)
2) Beautiful outdoor pool with plenty of space to lounge and spread out
3) Close to many areas in the Umbria and Tuscany areas. A good base for exploring
The bad:
1) Some of the staff were rude and did not try to accommodate their guests. For example, we arrived around 7:00 pm. We were told that dinner was not available to us (we had been driving from northern Italy) because they were fully booked. However, when my husband looked at the tables, there were several openings. Having traveled all over the world, we have never been a guest at a hotel and not accommodated. This was disappointing.
2) The vibe is very depressing. It is quiet; too quiet. No one smiling, no one talking (guests, staff, etc) it was almost like being in a setting for a retirement home. When on vacation, I like to have fun. This hotel was not the place for that.
3) Parking is strange-we had a rental car and when we returned after visiting the nearby town of Cortona, there was no parking on the property. My husband parked next to the villa only to have a staff member come out and harass him to move. He was rude.

I usually opt for small boutique hotels because they offer something a bit different with warm friendly service. If that's what you're expecting this doesn't quite hit the mark. The pool area is nice but lacking a poolside bar. You can order cocktails from the main building but they are silly prices (about eur 15 for an aparol spritz). The pool is not heated. The breakfast was switched from a buffet to to a platter due to covid, which is understandable, but you are given the exact same platter every day which turns into groundhog day somewhat. Another hotel I stayed in kept the buffet but the staff got the items requested in your behalf. Perhaps consider something like this to offer some variety? The restaurant very good. Rooms are ok but suggest requesting one on the first floor of the main building as the top floor rooms have very small windows.

Overall a decent hotel but I was expecting a lot more considering the price and the reviews.

This hotel combines the best of both worlds - a stunning countryside estate, gorgeous property and top notch service and staff. We spent 3 nights at Villa di Piazzano near Cortona during our 2 week trip to Italy. On arrival, we were instantly upgraded to the 2-story cottage with a private garden right near the pool. The whole experience was a 10/10. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, serene stay, look no further. The front desk staff made us feel incredibly welcome and were beyond helpful in coordinating our stay. The breakfast buffet, lunch snacks at the pool and dinner at the restaurant were all fantastic. Our only feedback was regarding the cooking class, which was easily arranged on arrival with reception. It was in a lovely setting on the property, and we got a chance to make pasta by hand, tiramisu and a ragout. The chef was nice, but the class was not as interactive as others we'd done in the past and although it was a nice length, we only got to make the pasta and dessert. For the price, there are likely other alternatives if you prefer to learn to cook every course step by step and would like a more engaging atmosphere complete with recipes to go home. Overall, we loved our stay and highly recommend it!

This property is gorgeous and the rooms are large and clean. They serve delicious food at both restaurants and the pool was awesome. I would have given a perfect rating except we had laundry done and they lost a few items, not ideal and their prices are a bit ridiculous, i.e. they charge 10 euros for a shot of absolute vodka when you can go to the grocery store and get a whole bottle for 15 euros. I don’t agree with charging high prices just because it’s a nice place. I think if anything you should be giving your hotel guests a break while dining and drinking at your establishment. Oh and the bed was SUPER soft...if you like that sort of thing.

Staff are brilliant and will do anything to make your stay good. They offer a fine dining service which is expensive and doesn't live up to the standard of fine dining.There new bistro menu is actually better! They have a problem with debris falling off the large trees over their dining area and you spend the whole meal picking bits out of drinks and off your food.These bits also get into your hair and clothes.The problem could easily be sorted by putting an awning over the dining area. Paying 30 euros for a plate of food and 40 for a bottle of wine then having to constantly pick out bits of tree really is not acceptable.

This hotel is BEAUTIFUL. Amazing pool, stunning sunsets with views of Cortona and fantastic food at the bistro. Gianfranco was beyond welcoming and kind, made us amazing espresso cocktails each evening and arrived early to send us off the morning of our departure with cappuccinos. Love that the hotel is such a short drive to Cortona! Our only complaint was that the beds need some updating as the mattress had a topper that did not fit, making it lumpy and uncomfortable. Every other detail in the hotel was stunning and would most definitely return and recommend!

We had a great stay at Villa di Piazzano. The amazing concierge staff helped us to schedule activities and restaurant reservations in advance of arrival, and their recommendations helped us to find some great spots in the area. The hotel itself was in a beautiful setting with comfortable rooms and outdoor spaces that we spent a lot of time in. We enjoyed the included buffet breakfast daily, as well as dining in the informal bistro as well as the more formal restaurant. Both meals were tasty with really attentive service. I would say that a car is an absolute necessity if you choose to stay here and explore the surrounding region. We took multiple day trips to wineries and restaurants all within about a 30 minute drive. We will definitely stay again, thank you!

This property is so beautifully maintained. So updated! Our bathroom was huge and the bed was the most comfortable bed we've laid on. Most importantly, the service was incredible. Yelena at the front desk greeted us with the friendliest tour of the property and afterwards everyone else helped us with restaurant bookings, wine tour reservations in the area, and great breakfast/dinner service. Everything about Villa di Piazzano was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, the on-site restaurant was excellent and the location was peaceful. We had a fantastic stay here and would glady stay here again.

Charming Tuscan Getaway

It's a pretty special place. It's remote, which is one of the perks and something everyone there was seemingly looking for. An old, historic structure full of charm but with plenty of modern services. Friendly and helpful staff, especially the women at the front desk. They were full of helpful suggestions and answered every question clearly and quickly. Food was solid, especially the dinner. Pricey, and portions weren't huge, but quality was top notch. The grounds are beautiful, and the pool area is pretty nice, too. Gets a little buggy, but the front desk staff had bug spray to lend out. If you want to do more than sit around the pool, renting a car is recommended because it's a good 10-15 minutes to the nearest true town, Cortona. If you're looking for a place in the eastern part of Tuscany, VdP is a winner.

Tuscan Spendor

This was my second time staying here and is was absolutely as much of a delight as the first. This place is so well put together - a perfect mix of Tuscan historic architecture and present day luxurious splendor. Sip a drink in the courtyard under a canopy of trees, bask under the Tuscan sun by the pool, or grab a bike and take for the hills. Either way, guaranteed, you won’t want to leave.

Very nice place for a honeymoon and romantic weekend. My only suggestion is that you should advise guest to rent a car. Transportation is expensive if you want to leave the property to go out.

Great location, service, and food

A beautiful building with an incredible exterior grounds. Dinner was great and actually pretty good value. The location is removed from Val d’Orcia but close enough to be there in 1 hour’s drive. Hotel service was great. The room we stayed in was a bit dated and in need of updating, but comfortable nonetheless.

From start to finish a lovely ,refined, stay.
Reception area, concierge, cocktails , meals, all exceptional.
Much effort is put into making every little thing pleasant.
Jessica at reception can make just about anything possible, Francesca in the bar area {try her basil and violet specialty drink} and Antonio in the restaurant {plus several other \"Francesca's\" on the staff , I might add } made our visit delightful !

Beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean, the wine tasting was the best and most informative wine tasting I’ve ever done. We also hired the hotel’s bikes and cycled up to Cortona - not for the faint hearted but definitely worth the effort!

Amazing location and staff.

I stayed at the villa di Piazzano with my 80 year old grandma at the end of October, and the staff treated us like royalty. The food was incredible, the location is exquisite, but our favorite part of our stay was the staff. The Villa di Piazzano is way more than a hotel, it's a home away from home. I highly recommend staying here, you will cherish your time for the rest of your life.

First time writing a review regarding a property. Stayed at many hotels and resorts and travel often with the family; this was one of our favorite places we have stayed. The ground of the property and the setting were amazing. But what made it so unforgettable was the staff. Our itenaray took us to three different hotels on our vacation. After the first day at this place, we changed our schedule so we can spend more time at Villa do Piazzano. Magnifico!

Heaven is Here.

Heaven on earth. At the end of a country road lined on both sides with majestic cypress trees, there is a huge ancient villa that once belonged to a cardinal. It is set in perfectly manicured gardens, and a pristine pool waits for guests to splash in it. The villa is exquisitely maintained with many of its older features intact. Our room was amazing, with first-rate beds, air conditioning, and a huge walk-in shower. All food and drink were impeccable. Many of the vegetables were grown on-site. We ate dinner outdoors and our servers were superb. All associated with the villa treated us like family instead of guests. There are not enough words to describe how perfect this stay was. We will return.

Lovely villa, not quite as expected

We were quite hopeful that booking into the junior suite would give us some luxury for our 3 night honeymoon. Having just arrived from another boutique hotel in Firenze unfortunately it did not live up to the same high expectations. The room was poorly decorated and not in keeping with the age of the villa. The appearance of cheap light fittings, curtain rails and picture frames was most disappointing. There was damp in the corner of the room, the bathroom, although large was dirty in the shower and again, too modern for our love of classic Italian design.

The hotel staff were very pleasant and attentive, although there was no recognition that we were on Honeymoon. Unfortunately, we had been spoilt in our previous hotel for a fraction of the price and we were disheartened when we checked into our room at Villa di Piazzano.
