So we stayed at the st Pierre hotel, it was five minute walk to the new miller dam , we loved the hotel for its value for money , room was clean and hotel was also , Elmo does a great cooked breakfast and we could choose what we wanted , the staff were very friendly , and we above and beyond to help .

Location is very good I have stayed 4 times at this hotel and this was the worst stay. no hot water very cold for the shower and the pressure of the shower was really poor. informed the staff who said they will take a look at it to which no change so on last day had to have a cold shower and and cold shave not good.

Some of our rooms did smell musty / doggy . This was sorted immediately by lovely staff . We didn’t realise it was a dog friendly hotel . Not a problem at all but probably best to keep certain rooms just for the doggies and others for others guests . The staff were soo friendly and lovely and nothing was too much trouble

Enjoyed our stopover here. Staff very pleasant. The room was value for what we paid. Lovely bedding and towels. Comfortable beds. Nice clean bathroom. Good over bath shower. Water nice and hot and good pressure. Nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room. Room temperature hot due to outside temperatures soaring. Just ask at reception for a fan if required.

ROOM AT THE BACK SO NO VIEW, BUT IT MADE UP FOR CONFORT AND A GREAT WALK IN SHOWER ROOM. I did request a accessible room prior to my visit vi hotels.com but the request hadn’t got though, the staff were able to allocate a semi assessable room which serve my person.

Food had the steak ale pie, best I've every had.

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there is a door connecting the room with the next room and we could hear their tv and hear them talking, I know this is probably because we choose twins beds room and it connects to the other room probably for families who have children so the door can be kept open etc, but other than that the stay and room was great 😀

Quiet and clean property on south side of Wakefield. Two nice pubs walking distance at Newmillerdam park. Parking onsite. Ideal location for us near friends. Did not use the hotel food and beverage during this stay. Older property - bedroom carpet looking it’s age. We would stay here again

First of all I had high standards from staying at a previous best western hotel and once arriving to this one I was dramatically disappointed. It was dark and dingy in the rooms with cobwebs and no hot water for shower or bath. I had a pair of shorts stolen out of my room whilst out at work. A room phone that didn’t work and was supposedly logged and wasn’t. I had payed extra for breakfast over the 3 days, again not impressed at all from the first morning so I missed breakfast over the remaining time stayed. I will not be coming back to this hotel again, would rather sleep in my car.

The hotel was ok, but because we had a room at the top of the hotel, the room was very warm, with no fans, to help cool the room, wasn't until the following morning, when mentioning the heat, we was informed that they had fans available. These should have been in the room initially.

For the price I wasnt expecting much, but paint peeling off the woodwork, stains up the wall and some questionable electric handywork I wasn't exactly pleased with it.

Breakfast was quick and average quality, but the dining room itself was dark and dull, not what you need first thing to get you going.

Cheap but certainly not cheerful.

Very dated, we were in an attic room, there was an eve in the middle of the room. There was a small window, but the room was so hot!! couldn't sleep. Bathroom shower had no pressure and smelt like stale smoke and air freshener.

There's a lovely walk 1 minute round corner too.

Economically priced among the available options in and around Wakefield. Friendly and prompt reception staff. Room clean and modern. Breakfast staff friendly and helpful with choice of continental buffet or full English. We didn't have dinner or use the bar but these facilities are available. Car parking is free but on our visit there were many large vans in the car park making spaces a bit tight. More room round the back. Electric vehicle charging point in the front car park with space for 2 vehicles. Overall happy with this hotel and will stay there again next visit.

Short over night stay. Friendly staff. No hot food available due to staff absence which was unfortunate as both the local pubs finished serving food by 6pm. So that had a negative impact on our enjoyment of the stay but that's just how things go at the minute.
The hotel is looking a bit jaded in parts. The bedrooms could do with a bit of a spruce up. The bed was rather firm but not rock hard either. The walls are quite thin so if your neighbours are active you know about it. I couldn't understand why they put guests next door to each other when their occupancy was so low. Banging doors etc woke me up several times. Having said that, everything worked and it was immaculately clean. We would stay again because Newmillerdam is such a pretty little place to visit.

When we arrived and entered our room it hadn’t been cleaned there was one bed unmade and the other one had been made up but had the dirty linen from the other piled up on it. Rest of room needed cleaning. So I went back to reception and asked for room change which was arranged straight away with apologies for room state. Next room was on ground floor but looked very dated and in need of a refurbishment, caret was grubby and it seemed a bit dusty too. Staff very helpful but breakfast was disappointing on the Sunday, we arrived at 9:30 am (times 8-10) and the breakfast table looked empty, there was only hash browns and bacon available no pastries etc so ended up with cereal and toast. Although as we had finished our food more cooked breakfast annoyingly arrived.
So overall, staff friendly and helpful but hotel itself needs updating so a somewhat disappointing stay.

Enjoyed our stay. We were in one of the bigger rooms which was good. Furniture was a bit dated but suited us fine.
Breakfast wax good, fairly typical. Don’t know about food in the evening although I know that only sandwiches were available on Sunday evening.

Cleaning of communal areas wasn’t great but from what we saw there were few staff working hard to do the jobs of many.

We were so looking forward to our stay, but apart from the bed which was very comfortable, we were very disappointed, and wouldn't stay there again. Admittedly our room was not expensive by any standards, but the following are things that need addressing:
Floor quite badly stained;
Curtains need attention to hang correctly, and were tired, so could they be replaced;
Shower head had hardly any power, and nothing a good clean wouldn't solve;
Chair by desk was unsafe. One leg was virtually unscrewed, and I nearly fell off it; I reported this on departure, and the receptionist was very apologetic, and arranged to have it replaced;
The room overall was very tired, including the window frame which needs repainting;
Kettle was good, but far too large to put under the tap, so had to use the small plastic cups to fill it;
We chose not to have breakfast, but after enquiring about the cost, we were very surprised to learn that if booked the night before would only be £8.00, but if we waited till the morning to book it would cost £15.00. How can that be justified?
We're sorry we can't be more positive, but wouldn't want anyone else to make the same mistake as us.

This hotel is dirty, and needs a complete refurbishment, the stay left me feeling uncomfortable and dirty. I complained after the first night and they refunded one nights stay. This however does not fix something that is broken.

Reception lied to my face about available up grade

My experience at this hotel was very strange. When I arrived I requested an upgrade and was told by the gentleman on reception there was none available they were all full. When I got to my room it was very tired and dirty. The bedding was so thin it was see through also the mattress had springs pushing through it and the pillows were rock hard.
I checked on the website for another hotel near by only to find that this hotel came up as available with upgraded rooms and suites I was furious that the receptionist had lied to me. How disgraceful as a member of the hotel group I would expect better service. I will not be using this hotel again and I will be taking this complaint further

Was very disappointing on arrival. The room was very old. Carpet dirty marks on it. View from the window was a roof top and nothing more. Furniture was tired and split. Could do with new matrass Could feel the springs. No air conditioning was very hot through the night. Not worth £54 a night.

First impression on opening door to room 304 was the smell of an old folks home, it was the bathroom, the obvious smell of stale urine! Bath was stained. A sign said 'Very hot water' but did not say that initially it spurted out at high pressure and splashed everywhere, it could be dangerous for children. Also the kettle was too tall to fill properly under sink tap, just managed to get a cups-worth as most of the water came out as I pulled the kettle away. Stayed 2 nights but bed not made or the bath linen folded - is this the difference between a 3 and 4star? Still, it was cheap enough and the site was handy to walk to my dad's house a mile away so I will probably come back again if I need to, but with a peg for my nose!
