It was outdated and staff was not accommodating, I booked for different room but the one I got was not ideal in any way. They mentioned at the front desk that they will let me know when 4th floor room will be available, I didn’t got any call or even curtsy to mention that they couldn’t change .

This hotel advertises itself as 5-Star hotel, it is not. The staff is 5-Star and extremely kind and professional. Our room, although incredibly large, had not been updated since probably the early 1980’s. The condition was clean, but very tired and dated. The public areas are very clean and maintained but you can see there has been minimal investment put in to upgrade the property. The building the hotel resides in a wonderful structure and could be a very elegant experience. The bar could be charming and high-class but they stuffed an oversized projected television in one corner while having a live DJ playing music right under the projection. A very strange arrangement. The dining space ‘The Yellow Brick Road’ has great food and amazing staff, but the room is lit like a football stadium. Please, Raj Hotels, invest in this property. It could be so much better.

You get what you paid for, however the 5 stars rating is not accurate.

Staff is friendly and helpful, the location is great, with some shops and restaurants just a couple of minutes walking.

The rooms/facilities are outdated, and shows the long time use they have been through.

If you are looking for a safe, clean and good value place to stay, this is a good option. If you are looking for a 5 stars experience……you will be disappointed.

i feel the property and staff are a bit dated .the hotel as clean as it appears to be is in need of a major renovation . it’s deco charm needs to be updated .. I booked three nights but could not stay the third night … My choice to move was a sound choice based on two full nights.. The price was fair and If you are looking for a simple place to stay all aok. If you are looking for something cleaner and more modern there are other choices that would reflect a seasoned travelers needs and amenities ..

This is the WORST hotel EVER and stay away from if you were considering to book!
We stayed in a room that had no cold water. Complained and they had someone come fix it, didn’t work. Filed another complaint and 2 technicians came but didn’t fix it either. Scalding hot water only, can you imagine? Had to wash face with hot water, had to take scalding hot water showers? We had to go to our son’s room to take showers.
Worst of all, they told us we had “upgraded” our room and needed to pay extra at check out! We have stayed in many different hotels and they would let us know if we have upgraded our rooms BEFORE we check in. Our son was told the same thing at check out too.
Very shady.
Don’t stay here. There are many better hotels around.

location is the biggest favorable point for the property. surrounding shopping area and Lodhi garden are two main attraction. Hotel can do better with breakfast options and the sitting area- doesn't give the feel of a Buffet spread as adequate. The pool has been under renovation for a long. The gym is very very rudimentary and too small too. they can sure do better by improving buffet breakfast, Gym and pool.
They can do better with complimentary toiletries which are not provided in full till you ask.

Beautiful property in an amazing area. The reception greeted me in a friendly way and upgraded my room to a suite. I had a late flight the following day and they let me checkout at 3pm. On the whole, this is a lovely hotel with an amazing history. I was upgraded to a top floor room which was very nice and unexpected. However, I have only given the hotel 4 stars because I felt certain areas were lacking especially as I had spent the previous week at a 5 star resort hotel within the same hotel group.

Bathroom: the towels were clean but well used and thin. The shower curtain could do with replacing. An access panel cut into the marble bath surround had been filled with pink plaster.

Bedroom: the bed was very comfortable. There were bedroom slippers but no robes. The water was supplied in plastic bottles, not particularly environmentally friendly. The art deco sunburst design on the dresser was very pretty but the dresser itself could have benefitted from a sanding and revarnish, the draw runners were stiff too.

I opted to have breakfast at the hotel, this was very nice.

What really disappointed me was the lack of swimming pool. The Hotels.com entry lists a pool as one of the amenities yet the hotel does not have a working pool. There is a sign at the entrance to the inner courtyard stating that the pool is being refurbished. There is an opportunity to take a transfer to the local Taj hotel and use their pool.

The staff at this hotel is as good as anywhere in the world. Any complaint or request was addressed immediately. They were always smiling and eager to please in any way needed. Our room was very large and comfortable, and the bathroom appeared to be new. A couple of things were not perfect. Our carpet was in need of cleaning, and the overhead shower appeared to be rusty or also need a good cleaning.

I will be back at the Ambassador for sure. Spacious room and soundproof. Location is superb in terms of connectivity. Reception staff are fine but not as polished as the rest of the crew, but they are younger so that probably explains it.

The Ambassador is a nice hotel in the green New Delhi area of the city. A short walk away from a small shopping area with upmarket shops and reasonably priced restaurants and a bank with ATM.

Also within walking distance (or short taxi/Tuk Tuk ride) is Lodi Gardens which has several historic buildings.

The staff at the Ambassador are excellent as are the drivers of the Hotel Car service. The rooms and beds were also excellent. Would stay there again.

I stay at Ambassador frequently when in Delhi if I cannot stay at my Club. I like the old world charm and the balconies and good sized rooms. The breakfast and the staff at breakfast are also lovely. Ambassador has a problem they need to fix if they are to be taken seriously -- they charge for ice! It took me 45 mins to get an ice tray delivered to my room (and, yes, I refused to pay for it). They need to read customer feedback and install an ice machine or provide ice trays in their fridge or make the ice delivery prompt and complimentary.

Suite rooms pictures misleading Receptionist bad

Starting from Airport pickup - despite multiple phone calls to hotel ahead of arrival, the driver arrived 3 hours early. We told him to come at 11:30 am IST as we were waiting for our parent's flight to arrive. Receptionist didnt convey this to the driver and he was waiting at IGI from 8:30 am.We Booked 2 Allure Suites based on the pictures on the website. When we reached hotel, the suites were nowhere near the pictures. They were dark and damp. They dont face on the front side of the building. They are built inward facing which makes them dark. When I booked , I mentioned that I want a room which is well lit with natural light . The hotel receptionist Roshmita offered us double room instead of suite which was on first floor and third floor and faced to the front. When we said yes to be downgraded , she said 3rd floor room is not available. Then we were shown 3 rooms but none of them was well lit and upto the mark. We had to finally settle for a side facing room on 3rd floor . Next was the bed , it was small for three people and when we asked for extra single bed, she said it will cost us extra. It was a horrible experience with multiple viewings and downgrading from suite to a room which too didnt give us a experience we were expecting. Hotel staff needs to improve on respecting their words when they offer something.Also they should respect the drivers who make so much effort to do airport transfers.Breakfast in the morning was good . I wished I booked Lalit at same cost

I've stayed at the Ambassador many times. It has declined significantly. We waited nearly 2 hours to get a room. The bed was hard. Towels were old and threadbare. One day, there was toothpaste provided in the bathroom, the next day, a toothbrush. The restaurant charged exorbitantly (INR 1999 for a serving of dhal) for mediocre food.

The location and services are excellent. It is an older property and has a colonial past feel which is a nice contrast to the modern day hotels construction and look/feel. My key disappointment with this property is the bad quality of bed - if you cannot get a good sleep everything else matters less. And this issue is quick, easy and relatively inexpensive to fix (from overall operating costs of the hotel). Please do upgrade the beds to match closely with most of the other Taj properties and you will see many more 5 star ratings !!!

Good stay overall. Rooms were clean and comfortable, bathroom was clean but really outdated. There was a small water leak-like a drip maybe from a condensation unit. They offered to repair but we wanted to rest so we told them we were ok until we left and it was just for their knowledge. But maintenance staff was very responsive. We stayed there for two days, the day we checked in they were 4 people outside the entrance, they helped get the luggage from the car which was nice, only to scan through their X-ray machine like many hotels in India do. The disappointment part is that after checking the luggage they just look at you. There is no communication to say, please go inside and someone will help you at the front. So once they check the luggage they just ignore you, they do not open the door or point the way to the front desk neither help you with the luggage. When we approached the check-in desk, the lady had issues with their system and it took her 15-20 minutes to check us in. The day we checked out we had schedule private transport to go from New Delhi to Agra. We scheduled it at 11:30AM so at 11:15 I went down to do my check out. The person who checked us out started asking for payment. I explained and showed the receipts from Expedia that we had already paid. She didn’t know how to check in her end. She asked to borrow my phone to show someone. My Uber showed up and it took them until 11:35 to figure things out. They need help in that area.

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel so the last 24 hours were a big disappointment. Firstly I went to dine in the Chinese restaurant after being invited by staff. The food was terrible (so different to the great breakfasts) and it was very expensive. The next day I checked out early and it was only when I was in the taxi I realised I had been double charged for one room service delivery and overcharged for another. Yes, I should have looked closer at the bill at the time. Still , very it's left a bitter taste. Keep a copy of your in-room dining receipts and go through the bill line by line.
