The rooms are small and old AC that does not go down much. Rooms had a musty smell. Front desk was not pleasant. I paid same price for Taj place and everything was impeccable there. It’s an old hotel that needs upgrade. The reception area was the only part that was clean and nice. Multiple elevators are plus point. Not worth the money paid.

This hotel is impresive , decoration wise , realy imperial - royal .
Clean rooms , outdated bathrooms , the towels needs to be updated as well - they are not anymore white but light gray .
Breakfast needs to be improved , same spread of items every day - I stayed 4 days .
If you get a shuttle service provided by the hotel to the airport expect a high charge - I paid 2200 rupees , if I order a taxi from outside would have been half less .
Ordered pastries from the pastries shop - took 1 hr to be delivetlred to the room , I never asked that - I was waiting by the pastry shop for a while till they tod me - \" the patries are being delivered to your room \" - I never asked for that.
Had an open buffet in obe evening in the hotel - the charge was 2500 rupee / person ( we were 6 peoople ) , however be aware of the 28% additional charges for taxes- extrimely expensive compared with what good restaurants in New Delhi has to offer ( it come ip to about $37 / pers for a mediocre buffet ) .
Will return for the hioel atmosphere experience , but I won't use their amenities .

The Room was left neglected. Found it in a dirty poor state under the bed. I have video recording of the room. Informed the Hotel Manger. No refunds given or even change of room. All he did was get the room cleaned. Didn't expect to find a 5 Star Hotel in this state. I am very disappointed and expecting a refund from Expedia. Apologies for the delay in getting back to yourselves.

Single white female traveler. Was in Delhi for dental work (2weeks).

Arrived 4am to find drunken screaming females (from the nightclub next door) at the front of the hotel.

I had previously alerted the hotel that I’d require an early check in due to my arrival time. They said no problem but upon arrival they changed me full price for a night.

The staff inside the hotel were unfriendly and ignored me most of the time.

My swipe card constantly needed to be reset 1-2 times a day so I could get into my room.

The sheets had holes in them and the towels were stained.

Toilet…. Disgusting. I purchased cleaning products so I could clean it properly (urine build up).

Fridge didn’t work and they kept trying to charge me for ice (which I needed to keep things cold)

AC was terrible and water leaked from the ceiling onto the floor making it dangerous

Cleaning staff wouldn’t leave towels etc so they could come back (expecting a tip)

They advertise “sound proof rooms”. NOOOO. There’s a night club that pumps loud music most nights.

Most staff were unfriendly and rude. When I tried to check out ( I told them when I was) I was told to sit down and wait. Apparently they all were too busy getting their photos taken with some celebrity.

I’ll never stay there again

We stayed for two nights, Aug 23 & 25. The building looks great from outside including the lobby. But the rooms were very outdated. The bed and the furniture needs replacement. The bathroom fixtures were cranky and the rainwater shower did not work. The position of the mirror was very inconvenient. There were not sufficient electrical plug points. When checking out on the 26th we found we were charged not per our specification and had to argue to get the balance. Overall both times we were not happy. The only reason we returned the second time, is because we had left our luggage there.

The room was average, the bedsheets were not clean, they had stains on it seems to used earlier. There was no iron in the the staff took more 35 mins bring the same and by that i was ready to leave wearing wrinkled Shirt and trousers. I don't think i would ever book a room there again. Room service was also very slow. There seems to be lack of coordination between the staff.

Loved the ambience of slightly faded elegance and charm at this hotel. Not the cheapest option, but very clean, safe and convenient. With the exception of one grumpy person who must have gotten out of bed the wrong way, staff were lovely and very helpful. Much better option that staying at one of the big American chains. Definitely recommend.

A bit of an oasis in New Delhi

I mainly enjoyed my stay here. In fact I stayed here 12 years ago.

The main issues I had were:

I wasn't asked for pre auth on checking in. And had to pay for our late night drinks on arrival. I went back to reception and was able to pre auth for a specified amount.

We checked out snd i paid for both rooms in cash/card as we were leaving India I wanted to use up our excess money. Thus was fine and we cleared our account the night before leaving. On handing in our cards at 6.00 a.m next day. Our payment was challenged. They kept us waiting about 10 mins thrn said it was ok! The attitude was very bad as if we were trying to cheat them!

Finally- the hotel cars were pretty expensive. But the driver who collected us from NDLS was very good and met us st the door of our train. He got a good tip.

The drivrr who took us to the airport questioned if we had already psid!

However, the staff in the bar and dining room and coffee shop were really lovely and very helpful.

The rooms weren't big - I didn't get an upgrade - but comfortable. Empty minibar.

Poor/garden area is lovely and relaxing.

The door staff were also very helpful.

The excellent location of the property compensates for the relatively smaller room sizes. Buffet breakfast and dinner was excellent with a lot of choices and good quality of food. The hotel lobby and other areas are tastefully decorated with Italian marble, statues and ceiling paintings. The hotel is very popular - it was full. Need to improve washroom cleanliness to make it equivalent to global standards. The hotel's system did not pick up that we had paid for the dinner buffets via our Expedia reservation; however, after discussing and the hotel manager checking, it was OK. Please increase size of your storage room for guest luggage.

If you want access to all of Delhi’s key landmarks and don’t want to pay over the top - this is a good hotel. Sadly this is where I run out of nice things to say. The rooms are dated and dirty (there was mold in the Junior Suite that we had booked), breakfast is okay but seating is terrible and if you are in a large group I’d recommend going down early. The food for room service is overpriced and not enough value for money. I’d give this a miss.

Let’s list some of the issues

1. Hotel building needs some love and care
2. Breakfast in the hotel is like war, and staff watches guests struggling with the coffee machine and they just walk away
3. Quality of the food .. is shocking, probably hotel is on a budget for the food
4 smelly rooms and corridors . Probably the carpets
5. No glasses in the room, when I asked for the glass and plates .. stuff was adamant that proving glasses in the room will cost .. lovely service from a hotel of this category
6. Bathroom gets flooded before you even start the shower
6. Beddings are terrible

Well I made a promise to myself … NOT AGAIN

I needed medicine and a staff member went to a pharmacy and brought it - touched my heart. The property is tastefully decorated in the Italian style. Breakfast was slways excellent. Location of the hotel is central. Rooms are a little on the small side, but other factorsmore than make upfor it. Great value for money.

Many things are broken. The room size is a bit disappointing and not what the photos suggest. Service is wrapped in systems and is inflexible to particular individual client needs. I waited 30 minutes to get a card to my room... not great after a late night flight. The breakfast bistro was often out of cups or cutlery or the coffee machine was broken, and requests took a long time to address. Many things were broken in my room, like power switches. They try, but fall below expectations. Very disappointing 😞

I recently stayed at Royal Plaza for 3 nights from October 22-25th. I checked in at midnight and found room was not done properly. I was very disappointed and went off to sleep as I had travelled all day.
Next day I spoke to Shubhi manager on duty about my dissatisfaction. She quickly called house keeping manager Sachin and moved me into Maharaja suite. They both were so professional and took care of me in minutes. My bags were shifted into suite. They checked on my stay till I left for flight to USA. I thanked them for making my stay so comfortable. I loved the Roman Garden with so many beautiful statues. I would recommend to anyone who is planning on staying in Delhi CP area.

Internet with 24 hour access for two devices meant I lost service and had to call 5 times over 3 days. Waste of time. Many, many hotels grant a log-on ID/PW for entire stay and it is provided at check-in. This is cumbersome and the only real problem that could improve the hotel. Drinking water in SPA/Gym is city water, not bottled water and 3 days of diarreha wasn't pleasant. Only bottled water should be in the GYM. Breakfast was excellent but mainly Indian food, which was very good.
