First the positives. The hotel location in the center of Chamonix is fantastic. All of the staff I interacted with were helpful, pleasant and charming. Top-notch! Rooms were also affordable. Unfortunately, the hotel has somewhat of a feeling of being a flophouse. It is old and rundown and not well maintained. My room had carpet and curtains that look to be from 1974. The furniture was very basic but extremely beat up. Coffee stains abound on the nightstand and TV table. The floor was quite saggy and creaks as you walk across it which means you can also hear every footstep in the room above you. The bathroom and my room as a whole have had few updates since perhaps the World War II era. Even the old built-in cast-iron tub is still there. While, it might be viewed as somewhat quaint, the black mold growing around it and the haphazard white paint that was slapped everywhere in the bathroom in an attempt to brighten up the room, made it feel icky. Also, there were gobs of human hair at the base of the bidet. Paint was peeling from the bathroom wall along with tiles missing around the baseboard. There was a large storage cabinet in the room which had a door that would not stay shut. I had to prop up a garbage can in front of the door to keep it from always swinging open. There was nothing about my room that allowed me to recharge after spending a day in beautiful Chamonix. It was a depressing room to come home to. The price was right, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Our stay was enjoyable, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect! It’s just fair to remember it’s an older hotel so it comes with quirks because of that.

We had room 31 in the back building. The room was a good size and there was a nice view from the window with a little breeze and the bed was big and that's where the good ends. The room stunk, it smelled musty and of timber rot. The room was stinking hot without air conditioning or even a fan. I complained to Amy at reception who spoke to her Manager about it. The hotel was full and we were staying 3 nights so the Manager went to the room to investigate and offered to do a deep clean on the room and the cleaner gave us some deodoriser to try to mask the smell. Eventually she offered me another room which had no ventilation and a small window up high that did not offer any breeze, we decided to stay in the stinking room. They eventually found a fan for us from a departing guest which was some relief. The bathroom has no window or ventilation, water leaked through the ceiling and dropped on you, the bidet leaked, the sink got blocked, which the cleaner unblocked. It was like staying at Faulty Towers. The Manager handled the scenario very badly, offered no compensation of a partial refund or a breakfast. We found out on departure the hotel is being pulled down later in the year after 7 years of waiting for local approval, they new the condition of the room but still took the booking and I dont think any maintenance has been done on any rooms in that time. I must say Amy at reception is fantastic and Flo the room attendant is lovely and helpful.

Room was a nice size but probably should have been updated 20 years ago. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The shower head was broken. We let the front desk know about it st 8 am. We were told it would be fixed while we were out for the day. When we came back at 7:30 pm the shower head had not been fixed. My husband got tools from the front desk to try to fix it himself so we could use it, but he could not fix it. The only good thing we have to say about this hotel is the location was great, and very friendly staff. We are not people who stay at expensive hotels so we are not terribly picky but this one was really a bad experience. You would be better off spending a little more money and going someplace else. I know we will never stay there again.

Awesome location. Quiet at night. Good hot cocoa / coffee machine. Cool with luggage storage. Things I wish they had: air conditioning or fans, something other than a handheld shower head (although water heat and pressure were great!), extra pillows and towels if needed (they did bring extra pillows the second night), WiFi, toilet paper that doesn’t exfoliate. The location just about makes up for it.

This property was absolutely awful! The rooms were nothing like the pictures. There was hair and dust all over the bathroom surfaces. The carpet was old and dusty and dirty. The light fixtures on the wall were sideways and almost upside down. We had to check all the sheets and bedding for bugs. It was the grossest place. My sister and I didn’t even want to sit down. After checking in and being in the room for a couple of hours we found another place to stay and checked out. Reception did not even ask us why. This place was a total waste of money!

Could not use the parking because of a race in Chamonix. The only solution was to pay €24 euros a day as compared to your advertised rate. I had to hold the shower head for my wife to take a shower because it was too tall. I am 6’5” and it was above my head, yet the shower head is limp and cannot be removed. There is a sign on the door that said the shower heads had a device installed to limit the use of water. Paint is chipping off the wall and there is a landline phone where my head should go with a piece of plywood beside it. There is no A/C, but thankfully the windows opened. There are no outlets close to where the bed is located, most are located in the bathroom. The price of this hotel was far too great to be as bare as it was. I would have expected to pay €60-€70 per night based on the quality of the room, not €175 (which doesn’t include parking).

i had a beautiful view of mont blanc(?) from my room/balcony. there was rain during my entire visit so my original plans of hiking had to be cancelled, however the kind concierge gave me plenty of activity options. the hotel provided a complimentary transit pass for the chamonix bus which came to be very convenient. i had wonderful stay. thank you to all staff at the croix blanche!

Great hotel for the couple of nights before our TMB hike. Good location in central Chamonix, close to pedestrian area and restaurants. Short walk from the bus station. The only thing that annoyed me was that even though I had completed their pre arrival survey and told them we would be arriving by noon after a red eye transatlantic flight, we could not check in until 3pm - they actually told us our room was one of the last to be cleaned and ready.

Complimentary hot chocolate, tea & coffee is available from an auto serve machine at front level. An elevator is available in this hotel & a great convenience as my luggage is very heavy. This hotel provides rental surface & storage service for ski equipment for guests. Buffet breakfast is served in its dining room adorned with sheepskin rugs on its wooden chairs & photographs of Mont blanc on its walls.
Overall, I will recommend this hotel to all travellers to Chamonix .

The hotel is in a perfect location for everything. It was just a short walk to rent skis, get the bus to the slopes, enjoy aprês ski, and choose from the many restaurants in Chamonix. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They made the stay very pleasant. They had a coffee machine and water filter available at all times. They gave us a souvenir water bottle to refill instead of using plastic bottles, which I especially appreciated. The rooms and facilities are very clean.
My only disappointment was the breakfast service. It ran from 7:00-10:30 and often ran out of key items before 8:30 - such as the delicious croissants and scrambled eggs. Better supply management would be appreciated by this not-so-early riser.

I stayed in this same place 11 years ago and it was great then. Doesn't seem like continual maintenance is done on the property. Shower stall was very moldy and peeling at the seams, literally. On the plus side, the beds were very comfy with sheets, which was very nice just coming off the TMB. The balcony over the town was a nice touch, and the breakfast was the BEST and most complete of anywhere we stayed in over 5 hotels and all the huts around the TMB. Very friendly and helpful staff and bilingual.

We had an unusual experience at La Croix-Blanche in that a pipe had just burst on the floor where we were to stay, so we were put in another hotel for the night. That being said, Valentin, the La Croix-Blanche employee who took care of us, went way out of his way to walk us, helping with the luggage, to the other hotel, which was across town. He couldn't have been more helpful, and we were grateful, in spite of the inconvenience to us.

We were very lucky to get the room last minute. The room was very big, but the hotel was somewhat older and not renovated. The furniture could be better positioned so that it’s more user friendly. The breakfast selection was great.

A very central 3-star facility, fine base for my skiing with a friend. Somewhat dated, needing to kneel in the bath to have a shower due to eaves and no head height, but warm and fresh towels each day. Didn’t eat on site as plenty variety nearby. Quite noisy at night due to location but that was expected. Friendly staff, useful ski locker room, sketchy wi-fi.

I was unwell during my stay and one staff member phoned around trying to find a doctor for me and offered to take me to one was really kind. The rooms are a bit dated though. The location was great. Right in the center of town. But that’s about all I can say nice about it. It was so loud! Not street noise loud... but the walls were so thin you could hear everything your neighbor was doing at all times. Our room was right next to the staff closet that they accessed at all hours with loud dangly keys and no regard for our sleep. The floors were so squeaky it woke us up when anyone wakes the hall above. The bathroom was tiny and my husband could not fit in the shower. There was a bidet in the middle of the bathroom making access to the sink and shower very difficult. The toilet was in a separate “closet” that you couldn’t open unless the other doors were closed in a certain way... the layout was ridiculous. The room smelled musty and faintly of smoke. The breakfast was 14 euros and definitely not worth it... cold eggs and bacon with a few croissants. They did have a ski room and a tiny elevator so I guess that’s a plus? We used the stairs everyday since two people don’t fit comfortably. Needless to say, it was a huge disappointment for us and we would not recommend at all.

Blanc...this year a poor room over the street...asked if a better room was available (happy to pay the extra) got a bit better room but not up to last year's standard. My offer to pay for upgrade might have been lost in the translation...old worn room with quite nice bathroom/shower. Breakfast is good but pricey. Great wifi access in lobby...weak in room. Will probably return and will pay more attention when reserving.

We loved this hotel! The feeling of a quant ski town was so amazing! The WiFi was just in the lobby which was actually great because we could spend more family time instead of screen time! It was also a great price and right in the center of town! We stayed in another hotel in this town as well and it definitely was not at good at this one! We agreed that they went above and beyond! This hotel is in a good position in the centre of town, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s just old fashioned and a bit worn out. If you book expecting a basic place to sleep and not much else it’s fine. But if you’re expecting a modern luxury stay it’s probably not the hotel for you.
