Great hotel !

Great hotel location, directly on the beach & superbe view of the ocean from the room.

The hotel room could use a little update, but it was quaint and clean.

The staff was very helpful with diner reservations & questions.

Generally good but ventilation system needs upgrad

Like most hotels in the area, it is showing its age abit but hotel is clean. Beautiful beach and ocean views from the room. Both onsen are nice and standardly equipped. Halfboard breakfast/dinner is also good quality. Many of the table staff are foreign and have a good grasp of japanese/english as there are tourist who frequent here, but service is generally good. Reception staff is also well versed in english as well and friendly/professional. One big complaint with the room is the heating/cooling ventialtion controls in the room are useless. As per the staff, it is a centralized system and regardless of whatever temperatures you set it will not change the temperature. (Either fan on or off.. and temperature during the day/evening it seems to be preset at 24 celsius but beware that early in the morning, the heater system kicks on and heats up the room alot up to about 28 celsius) In my travel during early April when it was warmer outside, room temperature was unbearably warm and i had to request for portable fan and shut off the main ventilation fan to make things more tolerable. Opening up the windows helped but I had to keep it shut due to mosquitos coming into room because there are no mesh netting on the windows. This is a big negative for those who cannot handle the heat/stuffiness in the hotel room. This is silly as the room thermostat has temperature level controls but it does nothing for the temperature. Otherwise, if you not mind it is a fine place to stay.

Truly wonderful stay

Lovely, spacious room with such a gorgeous beach view! Plenty of cushy comforters on the futon made for an extremely comfortable bed. The meals are nothing short of spectacular!! Delicious and beautifully arranged. So good!

A lovely experience

We stayed one night and had a lovely room overlooking the ocean which was just what we wanted.

It was an amazing trip. The hotel is new and clean. It is convenient with a bus stop just outside. There is a free shuttle bus pick up from the JR station. You can find the beach right in front of your eyes in the room.

Helpful staff, air conditioning to be iimproved

All things are fine, except the air conditioning. No cool air, just heat. Very uncomfortable. We did open the window, but there were mosquitoes flying around. At our second night there, a bunch of people talked and played at the beach in the middle of the night, generating noises affecting our sleep. But we couldn’t close the window because it’s really too hot.

Next to the beach

Just a few meters away from the white beach of Shirahama, this hotel seems to be the best option compared to different hotels. A 24h supermarket is found within 100m. The restaurant only offers dinner to those who registered prior to the check-in, so one must find their own meal. Since we like fish, we drove down by car to a big (huge!) fish market for amazing delicacies. Breakfast came in Japanese style: coffee cannot be expected and neither a buffet table. All was served. In-house Onsen was okay. The women seem to get a better catch. Staff was very kind. Parking was free. The room had a wonderful view. The night walks were really nice.

Stayed a night in April. Airconditioning unit in the room shutdown automatically during the night and the room temp rose to 27 degrees c which woke me during the night and couldnt fall back to sleep. It was not possible to switch it back on. Very annoyed at the time

Nice hotel but a bit disappointing on onsen usage

Great service and onsen with a nice view.
However, the cigarette smell was quite heavy when you walk through the corridor to the room. This didn't give good first impreasion.

They alternate male and female onsen so as to let both gender to use the best onsen overlooking the sea. However they did not change the amenities used by the different gender.

In addition, I happened to drop by the onsen before they close. I was still tidying up myself but a male staff suddenly came in, luckily I got my clothes back but that wasn't a nice experience. They should have asked their male staff not to come in as long as a female guest was still doing her last-minute cleaning. English communication is always a problem in Japan.

The only hotel on Shirahama beach

Stayed in a traditional Japanese room.
Onsen is great - hot water with no chlorine added (or at least it was not noticeable) compare to other onsens.
Beach is great even sand is imported :). There are not many trash bins on the beach which contribute to a lot of plastic rubbish and cigarette butts left on the beach.
I will definitely come again some day.

家庭風呂到的時候還沒員工開門，浪費了十五分鐘，根本沒有任何補償。

The hotel condition is quite old. Its in 90s design. I felt like i was back in 90s in japan. The hotel is not a traditional type of onsen hotel. Its more like their built in 90s and nothing was added since.

The price is far over priced compared with other onsen hotels in stayed during this trip. everything is quite available.

Location is a bit far off from Shirahama train station. They do have a shuttle service that pickup hotel guests and will stopped at one other hotel before arrving Shiraraso. Be aware there is NO shuttle service going back to train station. You'll either have to take a TAXI about 1700+ yen or get on a bus. The hotel itself is a bit dated but well maintained. Our floor have refurnished hallway. We don't smoke but we got a smoking room. Fortunately it didn't have the smoky smell. Otherwise, this hotel is at a beach front property and it's absolutely stunning to look out the windows in the morning. I wish I can attach a picture with his review. By the way, this is also an ONSEN aka Hot Spring. For the money we paid at off season this is total bargain. Highly recommended.

Sleeping on the futon / tatami mats was a bit hard on the back but the next night I doubled the futons and it was wonderful.

FYI: Very few staff speak English.

perfect hotel choice for a perfect holiday

it was a 12-member-family trip and booking hotel rooms was a bit difficult, eventually i found this onsen could accommodate all of us and thus we booked it. hotel is huge and is located right next to a beautiful beach and Shirahamakaigan Park, easily to be a perfect family trip destination. hotel staffs were all very friendly and helpful, only draw back was the room, it was a bit small for 4 people, we could not move around after 4 beds were made. but the onsen was really perfect especially the upper level one, superb seaview while in the very comfortable outdoor pool.

It was great. Staffs were great and friendly. They deal with their guest with a personal touch and make sure we had a great and comfortable stay. Though hotel looks old (like all the rest), but interiors are well kept and maintained. Probably the only hotel on the iron closest to the beach, whereas the rest are across the road away.

Great hotel in great location (with great views)!!

The hotel is conveniently located at the end of the beach and it is only a short walk to the main shops / restaurants area. The hotel has both traditional Japanese ryokan style rooms as well as 'western' style rooms. We stayed in the former which was very nice with a beautiful few over the beach (note, for Japan novices - pillows have a soft side and a firmer side, and you can probably get additional futon's from the wardrobe if you find yours too thin).
The onsen here is fantastic with an upper and lower level (which alternate between men's and womens in the morning and evening). Staff were very friendly and tried very hard to help accommodate our needs despite our communication difficulties. Good bar, gift shop and vending facilities.
I would definitely stay here if I were to visit Shirahama again.

Good Solid Performance

We are a group of 14, travelled in October for 2 nights stay. This is my second visit to this hotel, while first time for everyone else.

Like my previous visit, the stay was a pleasant one. The staff were attentive to our needs and especially for a large group like us, things like a private room for our group was a nice touch.

The room was great, we enjoy the Japanese Tatami experience, and the view is great, overlooking the white sand beach. The room and the hotel itself is a bit old, carpet is a bit rundown, but consider the age of the establishment, it is well maintained and clean.

The location is also a great one, the beach is stunningly beautiful. For kids, there is a playground on the beach. For adults, we enjoyed a visit to the Japanese Shrine next to the hotel. There is a supermarket and a \"100Yen\" store within 3 mins walk across the street.

The onset is good. I wouldn't say it's the best experience but for this price, it's a great value.

Overall, I think this is a very solid performance of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again if we revisit Shirahama.

We loved our stay at this hotel. We were in the bigger rooms on the 6th floor which was great as we had 2 kids with us. Each night the staff rolled out our futons, and in the morning we had a Japanese style breakfast in our room. I counted 20 different dishes (all beautifully presented!) for each person one morning. And the staff provided a special western style breakfast for our 3 year old. It felt like a very special Japanese experience. The beach is beautiful - and at the beginning of October was almost deserted, but still warm enough for us to swim in the sea. The town is very very quiet at this time of year - but you can still find places to eat. And if you like seafood go to the 'fisherman's wharf', where you buy your seafood in the shop downstairs and then cook it yourself at the BBQ restaurant on the top floor - with amazing sea views. Also would recommend hiring a car (we drove from osaka airport). Very easy to drive and only about an hour and half to get to the Onsen towns up near Hongu.

Excellent hotel. Staff extremely polite and welcoming. Not many speak English but that's not unusual for japan.
Onsen was great and the Japanese breakfast was very good.
Room was brilliant, they're all Japanese style with tatami floors and the staff come round every evening to make up your futon.
We really enjoyed are stay and would we would recommend this hotel.

這是一個非常老牌的飯店，內部狀態很好唯一缺點就是房間內沒有私人溫泉池。泉質帶有鹽分，戶外溫泉男女會依照時間切換

食物部分老牌餐廳提供水準很好，尤其早餐非常好吃細緻，結合西式的懷石料理

房間非常大，訂的房間「和洋房」有像是客廳面海的沙發區，也包含和式榻榻米的座位區。甚至連廁所便桶都有兩個，洗手台兩個等等非常優秀！適合全家一起居住

両親と義母を伴っての白浜旅行。
施設は年季を感じますが、清潔にされており、快適に過ごせました。
部屋は2部屋ぶち抜き広く過ごせました。
お料理は夜はコース、朝はビッフェ形式、どちらも満足でした。年配の両親ともに満足してました。

白浜海岸にホテルから直ぐに出ることができる。砂浜がたいへん綺麗でした。またバス停も近いため、移動にも便利だった。ホテルの温泉も良かった。
