Couldn't had been better.

From the check in to check out everything was perfect. Hotel is well maintained, updated, clean, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and of course lovely beach right Infront of the hotel. Geography of the place is something else as Italy (Trieste) and Croatia (Porec, Rovinj) are short drive away.

I love this place. I’ve stayed a few times and I’ll probably return. The staff, food and location are amazing!! There was however a persistent smell resembling backed up sewer. It wasn’t overwhelming but it was off putting. I walked onto a couple other floors and it was throughout the entire building.

I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. I wanted to stay in Piran but choose this hotel initially for two reasons: (a) it was walking distance along a promenade to Piran and offered free parking; and (b) it would be staying in a slice of history as the form of the hotel (though not the renovated interiors) harked back to the more brutalist days of the Yugoslav Republic. Then I got there - the staff were unfailingly lovely; the room was big (after several days of tiny rooms); each room has an expansive sea view; the breakfast was out of this world; and it was a beautiful promenade in front of the hotel along the sea. It was really a singular experience and one of the reasons that Piran was a highlight of the trip. My mother (70 yo) felt very poorly on the last night of the trip and was quite ill during the night. As we didn't have to leave to go to the airport until 4pm, I requested a late-check out. Not only did they give my mother the room until 4pm, but they didn't accept extra payment for the additional time in the room. Honestly I can't recommend this hotel more highly!

This is a beautiful location! I loved the view and how easy it was to walk to the centre of Piran (which is beautiful by the way). There are electric scooters out front if you don't want to walk that far. There was also a delicious restaurant close, before the main part of town. I believe the bar by the ocean was closed when I was there (end of September) but other than that everything was great. Buffett breakfast was great with lots of selection. As a Canadian woman traveling alone I felt totally safe, the staff spoke english (grateful).

One thing - be careful if using the stairs to go for a swim in the ocean, I was using the railing and still slipped and fell - lol.

This is by far not a 5 star experience!
The staff and services is awful.
We placed laundry service and they delayed the return by more then 24 hours, which completely delayed our travel plans and departure to another location.
There is no manager on property and in charge.
The front desk lady is rude and unprofessional.
In addition we had to park our own car and bring our own luggage to the room.

This was our first visit to Piran and to the Grand Hotel Bernardin. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We encountered several rude staff immediately upon arrival. The front desk staff did not offer a welcome and performed their duties completely detached from any level of hospitality and professionalism. There were no smiles, and no effort to make guests feel welcome.

After checking in, we discovered the fellow who brought our bags to our room leaning on the bags when we arrived. He appeared upset and impatient although we were only a few minutes behind him. My husband and I felt that we were a big inconvenience to him despite the fact that helping us with our luggage was part of his job.

Then we encountered more rude behaviour at the front desk when we asked for directions to the centre of Piran. The fellow who helped us asked which town we wanted to see? We explained we’d like to see the centre of the town we were in. He seemed to make a game of not giving us the simple directions. So, we relied on Google to help us navigate the way.

At breakfast I asked one of the restaurant staff where I might find hot water for tea. The female server did not say good morning, did not respond in a friendly manner but yelled out ‘machine’ while pointing at a distance to the coffee machine.

Overall, the service at this hotel is a mere notch above hostility. I would hope another Piran hotel would offer better service for tourists interested in discovering Slovenia.

Hotel Bernardin Portoroz

The hotel is in a beautiful location and has a private beach that is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms are nice and seem to have been refurbished more recently. The rest of the hotel is quite dated and needs a proper refurbishment. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there. Just note that what you are paying for is the location and the private beach. The hotel itself needs to be modernized.

Wonderful location with views over the Adriatic, the rooms are quite a bit on the small side for a supposedly 5 star hotel. Also the food is more 4 star than 5, not to speak of the crowded dining rooms, but overall we had a great time.

We stayed in Piran for two nights and would highly recommend the town. When we arrived at the hotel, check in was slow as there was only one agent and he was dealing with a problem with another guest, so we waited. Once we were given our room, it was quite run down and hot, so we turned on the a/c and went to wander. When we returned, the room was still hot. Eventually, they found out the a/c was broken and moved us to a nicer room with a/c. I was glad they upgraded us for the trouble. Also, the bathrooms were very clean and comfortable in both rooms. Every balcony has a sea view, which we enjoyed. Steps away from the hotel are chairs for sunning and stairs into the sea for swimming. Breakfast buffet had a sizable number of options. The hotel is a reasonable walk into Piran with a couple of very good local restaurants within a few minutes walk on the esplanade--Veduta Bernadin to the left and Pri Polonci to the right. There is also a free shuttle that runs from the Fornace parking lot across from Pri Polonci to Piran and back approximately every 15 minutes. Of the three 5-star hotels we visited on this trip, this hotel was our least favorite.

Nice hotel, clean and has everything you need. Buffet food could be improved in that pasta and other hot food often was only warm, not hot, so tasted average. Good breakfast buffet. Quiet, great balconies overlooking the sea. Lovely bar outside on the 11th floor.

the food in the restaurant was awful, hard cold vegetables and poor choice - very disappointing. We had to eat out, although we had paid for HB, as could not face the poor food (worst Ive ever known in the Adriatic).
Reception staff were VERY rude and NOT friendly at all - when we checked out they did not even ask if we had a nice stay. They tried to charge us extra for a registration fee which I refused to pay - terrible. WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN & WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

This hotel has an amazing view over the Adriatic Sea, looking toward Italy in one direction and Croatia the other. It is built down the side of a cliff so every room faces the sea. The hotel is situated between the two tourist towns of Portotoz and Piran, so it’s a hike of 15 to 30 minutes to go to either - this is where the shops restaurants etc are located. There is a free shuttle every 5 mins or so to Piran which makes it easy. The hotel has free parking which is convenient. The hotel is Grand in it foyer and public spaces and is set up as a conference venue. Rooms are as expected for this type of hotel and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay, and can recommend the hotel.

The hotel is a somewhat dated but still quite nice hotel on the Adriatic coast. There is a nice walking path right outside the hotel, and the ocean is good for swimming. The food at the hotel was ok but not great. Wifi was spotting in the room.

Very helpful, courteous and professional staff who are all multilingual! Every request was met with a sincere desire to please. I felt very pampered and cared for during my stay - very relaxing and enjoyable! I will be back! The front desk staff, concierge and bellboys were extremely accommodating, as well as the restaurant manager and wait staff. Overall it was a relaxing, enjoyable, and recharging weekend! Thank you!

The Hotel is an excellent choice for visiting Piran & Portaroz which are both walking distance away. Parking a car is done for you very efficiently by the hotel bellboys. Food in the Hotel is buffet style and very good but a little repetitive. Would have preferred silver service in 5* hotel. The back of the hotel could do with updating there is a smell of drains outside not a fault of the hotel. The Hotel staff generally are excellent and very helpful and determined to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Overall experience ruined by transfer from hotel to airport with company GoOpti (very late, dropped passenger off at wrong location and locked one passenger out of bus when he complained about the service, very rude). La spa una chicca (deve essere prenotata in anticipo perché gli ingressi sono limitati) e anche la piscina al nono piano panoramica molto bella.
La colazione perfetta, c’è veramente di tutto!
Hotel stra consigliato, si può raggiungere Pirano con una piacevole passeggiata sul mare in circa mezz’oretta.

Det var en meget mærkelig oplevelse. Deres morgenmad var decideret uspiselig. Agurkerne smagte af ammoniak, croissanterne havde en mærkelig bismag og kaffen var aldeles udrikkelig (tygflydende). Det eneste ved den overdådige morgenmad, der var værd at røre ved var frugten og danskvand på flaske. Alt andet var så ringe, at vi hver dag gik sultne fra morgenmaden.

Bästa hotellet om man vill ha tillgång till medelhavet. Bra med solplatser direkt vid havet. Vänlig personal, kanske inte de mest effektiva i baren vid poolen, några prioriterar smådisk framför att ta ens beställning. Frukost- och middagsbuffen var ok men inte i klass med 5-stjärnigt. Rekommenderar i så fall ta middag ute vid Piran istället. Frukosten var bättre än middagen. Fint rum med fantastisk utsikt. Något överpris med tanke på att det inte riktigt klassades som 5 stjärnor enligt mig.

Leider entspricht das Hotel keinem 5 Sterne Standard sondern maximal 4 Sterne.
Die Zimmer sind sehr schön und modern und haben einen sehr schönen Ausblick.
Das Essen und die Atmosphäre im Speisesaal hat aber mit 5 Sternen nichts zu tun.
Es befanden sich bei meinem Besuche sehr viele Bus Reisegruppen im Hotel und dementsprechend laut war es auch.
Der Wellnessbereich ist schön aber der Fitnessraum ist ein Witz. Nur veraltete und teilweise defekte Geräte. Hier sollte dringend nachgebessert werden.
Im Hotel selbst Gabe es mehrere Baustellen, die sehr unansehnlich waren.
Das Personal war insgesamt sehr freundlich und Serviceorientiert.
Ich würde das Hotel nicht noch einmal buchen da es nicht meinem Anspruch an ein 5 Sterne Haus entspricht.

Többször jártunk már a hotelben, de a mostani alkalom néhány dolog miatt csalódás volt számunkra. A fürdőszobában a kád körül néhány helyen penészfoltok voltak, míg a tengerparton dolgozó személyzet tagjai közül egy-két fiatal udvariatlan viselkedése és munkakedve nem volt megfelelő egy ilyen szállodához.
A reggeli viszont továbbra is kiváló.

Schwachpunkt ist leider das Essen im Hotel Restaurant, das wirkt qualitativ etwas billig und man muss sich beim Frühstück alles selber vom Buffet holen (inkl. Kaffee und Eiergerichte)

I booked 2 rooms for 1 night for a total of 430 euros. In my room was impossible to stay innthe day because they are doing works in another floor and there was drilling on the walls all the time until 6.30 pm. I complained at the reception and they told they didn't know about any work. so I showed them the pictures of the people working. then the next day the private beach is not allowed because they had to take pictures until 10 am. hundreds of people had to stay away for one photographer. unbelievable. I am so disappointed of this 5 star hotel with prices 5 star and so low on confort and service

Das Hotel ist gut ausgestattet und sehr sauber. Die Kellner sind sehr aufmerksam, vor allem an der Bar. Frühstücksbuffet ist OK, aber nicht herausragend. Gut fand ich, daß sie regionale Speisen anbieten. Von Buffet am Abend waren wir nicht begeistert, a la carte ist wesentlich besser und zu empfehlen. Gebäcktrolleies darf man nicht selbst benutzen, Personal ist aber oft nicht verfügbar oder bei Ab- und Anreise mehrerer Gäste überfordert.

Es hat uns alles gefallen, tolles Zimmer, tolle Aussicht, tolles Essen, einfach eine wunderschöne Zeit!!!
Das Einzige was nicht so toll war, das wir erst 2 Tage vor Ankunft die Mitteilung bekamen, das der Pool im Bernardin geschlossen war und wir mit vollen Taschen zum Hotel Histrion ausweichen mussten. Aber der Pool war sehr schön! Nur die Kommunikation könnte besser sein, da der Pool im Bernadin bereits seit 26.10. geschlossen ist. Aber sonst alles top👏👍

Die Struktur ist gut, das Management 2-3 Sterne, das Buffet von unterdurchschnittlicher Qualität, kein a-la-carte Angebot (5 Sterne!), ausserhalb der Essenszeiten (7-11 und 19-21 Uhr!) keinerlei Möglichkeit, etwas zu trinken oder zu essen zu bekommen, kein Roomservice, ...

Als ich angekommen bin, wurde ich an der Rezeption sehr freundlich empfangen.
Zimmer war schön mit dem Blick aufs Meer.
Das Essen war sehr gut- grosse Auswahl und genug!
Am Hoteleigenem Strand haben die Gästen bereits cca.06.00 - 07.00 Uhr ihre Badetücher auf die Liegestühle ausgebreitet, um sie zu res. - finde ich nicht so gut!!! (Es stresst )
An manchen anderen Ferien Orten sammeln sie die Tücher wieder ein, und werden den Gästen ausgehändigt , wenn die Gäste am Strand bleiben!
In Portoroz , hatte ich eine sehr schöne Zeit und würde jederzeit wieder gerne hin gehen!

Die einzige Bar des Hauses war im Juli wegen Renovierung geschlossen, das Angebot im Restaurant (Buffet) ist morgens ok, abends sehr durchschnittlich. Gleiches gilt für das Angebot der Strandbar. Pool nur indoor. Am Strand Plastikliegen auf Beton, gegen Aufpreis Kunststoff-Liegen auf Rasen. Insgesamt verfehlt das Hotel in Angebot und Ausstattung deutlich den beworbenen 5 Sterne Standard.

Wifi hat im Zimmer nicht funktioniert. Mitarbeiter wirken teils unmotiviert und unfreundlich. Frühstück enttäuschend, Ausnahme das Omelett von der Omelett Dame ;) .. Am ersten Tag war keine Cafe/Bar offen am Strand. Wir haben uns von einem 5* Hotel mehr erwartet.

Netter Aufenthalt für einen Kurztrip

Wir bekamen leider ein Zimmer mit Verbindungstür. Die Gäste nebenan waren teilweise sehr laut. Auch die Balkontür konnte man in der Nacht nicht offen lassen, da laut Musik gespielt wurde. Balkon und Aussicht auf das Meer waren toll. Im Zimmer wären Wasserkocher, Kaffee und Tee nett gewesen. Trotz 5* gab es das nicht. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ keine Wünsche offen. Hier wird man mehr als satt. Top: gratis Parkplätze. Den Indoor-Pool hatten wir sehr gerne genutzt, doch leider schafften wir es zeitlich nicht. Er ist nur bis 20 Uhr geöffnet.

Il problema dell’hotel è la qualità del ristorante va bene per turisti inesperti ma obiettivamente non si mangia bene… è un peccato perché potrebbe essere il top della zona … cambiare lo chef 👨‍🍳 potrebbe essere fondamentale per aver una quotazione migliore

Direkt am Meer urlauben 😉

Lage ein Traum, Frühstück perfekt, Sauberkeit hinter Eingangstür ins Zimmer wird mich gesauuweil sie aufgespannt ist. Ansonsten sehr sauber.

Hotel sul mare! Meravigliosa posizione e vista dalla camera mozzafiato
Colazione continentale mai vista così abbondante , varia e di qualità.
Cena sicuramente non a livello della colazione, al terzo turno,scelto da me, certe pietanze non venivano riproposte, frutta inesistente

Es hat mir nicht gefallen, dass im Hotel Hunden waren. Ich habe es nicht gewusst und ich habe Allergie, deswegen ich nicht mag wenn im Hotel Hunden sind. Und ich möchte nicht in einem solchen Zimmer sein wo früher Hunde waren... Wir sind \"Stammgaste\" in diesem Hotel, aber früher waren keine Hunde. Diese Neuheit hat mir nicht gefallen :-(

Diesmal leider nur ok

Rezeption war hilflos beim Wunsch das Zimmer zu wechseln weil eine steile Treppe zum Bett geführt hat. Service nicht 5 Sternen entsprechend. Strand und Zugang zum Meer schön.
