Good location in town, nice breakfast. Had a few little issues while we were there which staff did their best to sort. Rooms in need of deep clean especially very dusty curtains! Be aware there is limited parking so you will have to pay for the public car park nearby. Our room was up several flights of stairs with no lift and no help with heavy luggage offered.

Apart from the bedroom and en-suite being dated it’s a really nice hotel. The guys had an emergency over night and the gas had to be cut off to the kitchen, so no hot breakfast. Not their fault at all and they put on an amazing spread for a continental breakfast like I’d never seen before. So well done to them. The gas engineer arrived as I was leaving. Staff were fantastic.

Check in was great. Managed to park right outside the door. Room was ok. Only real complain was the en-suite. Dated and the shower valve very worn and difficult to set a good temperature. Over all would stay again.

Charming old hotel. The property and rooms were clean and fairly well maintained. I don't think there's an elevator. I couldn't find a thermostat in the room and the room started off pretty chilly (I was there in late February). I'm not sure if they have A/C as well, though I'm not sure it gets that hot. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. It's definitely not a business hotel. The desk was small and there were few power outlets. I would highly recommend the hotel install USB plugs near the desk and bed night stands. It's 2025 after all. I had a room on the second floor in the front of the Hotel. Event hough Sandwich is kind of quiet, there was road noise early and late. so if you're a light sleeper, request a room in the back of the hotel. The breakfast looked good. The staff was friendly. The desk clerk helped me get a taxi when I was checking out (not an easy task in Sandwich). By the way, there is no Uber. Plan ahead if you need a ride.

Dissapointing visit.
Booking in at reception was nearly 15 minutes waiting in a queue , therefore not a great start after driving nearly 2 hours.
The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable. However, most parts of the hotel was very tired , with stained carpets and chipped paint work, obviously once a more grand hotel.
Our meal was very dissappointing which thankfully we were charged. The bar and waiting staff were very nice however and we did enjoy our drink near the fire on such a cold night.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Hot water ran out after a few minutes in the shower, then a few minutes later all the water turned off in the shower. I complained to the management but they were really rude and ignored me totally. Since I had prepaid for the room I had no recourse. I highly recommend you not include this hotel in your offering.

The Bell is a sensible choice at the heart of Sandwich, good location, lots of parking, always buzzy with the bar and the food is reliable. Rooms are a little tired but bed is comfy and the shower is hot. Stayed in the summer and without air con the rooms get stuffy - I have stayed a few times - and you have to leave the windows open which means the seagulls wake you early. I will definitely stay again.

Lovely large room facing river. Arrived just as a wedding party had arrived for reception, however staff brilliant and helped us check in super quick. Parking close and can purchase from hotel for 4pm to 10am which significantly cheaper. Breakfast lovely too, will definitely stay again. Great nights sleep as not as noisy as other hotels. Thank you

Arrived around 10:30pm, guy who was meant to check me in left via the back door. I was checked in by bar staff, handed a key and had to find my way through a series of doors and stairs. Old creaky hotel with no soundproofing to room next door with noisy tv and snoring person, not worth £187

Elements of the Hotel were looking a little tired, the stairways looked worn and in need of attention.
No lifts so 3 flights of stairs, some of the stairways being quite narrow.

This property was adequate for our two-night stay. We have sadly marked average-to--good as there was room for improvement. Reception staff were friendly and helpful but some members of the breakfast dining staff let the hotel down. Unfortunately, they did not pay attention to detail ie; replenish cold buffet items and crockery as a matter of form. We had to ask. We were asked if we had a comfortable stay on checking out. We did. However, not wanting to be people who make a fuss, once back home it was confirmed that we had been downgraded to a standard double room instead of the Superior double room we had paid for. The \"river view\" was more of a \"road view\". The river cannot be seen as the room is on the ground floor. Room 2 is not a Superior Room with a River view. It is a double room without the view. We were clearly mis-sold this room by the hotel. We did not receive the room we had booked. Looking at previous comments it appears this has happened before. We can only assume that the superior double room with river view was allocated to other guests. We note the hotel does not respond to any comments. All I can say is question which room you have been allocated, especially if you have paid for an upgrade. We are disappointed, but we have learnt a lesson. Next time we will address issues straight away.

The food and the service is 5 star! But unfortunately, there was no lift to the rooms and I had a 35 kg bag I had to carry up the stairs. Good job I can carry it! Internet kept dropping out every 5 minutes and also yielded a poor wifi signal all over the hotel. Poor 3G signal too. No parking, and no unloading area. You have to park on double yellow lines. Rooms are clean but you can hear your neighbours moving around upstairs at 05:00 when they wake. I also had a room with the alley view, so I could hear the bins being dragged along the cobbles at 05:30 every morning. For a business trip, it's not ideal.

The room was tired and dated , the facilities were out of date. The shower was full of mould and dribbled out a stream of lukewarm water.
The hot tap rotated on the sink and was difficult to use.
The bed was not of the quality I would expect in a room priced at £195
Better room planning by the hotel would be advisable as lovely as it was I wasn’t part of the celebration happening downstairs but that didn’t matter as I could hear it as if they were playing in my room.
Maybe the guests for that celebration would have liked to be closer to it.

The hot tap rotated on the sink and was difficult to use.
The bed was not of the quality I would expect in a room priced at £195
Better room planning by the hotel would be advisable as lovely as it was I wasn’t part of the celebration happening downstairs but that didn’t matter as I could hear it as if they were playing in my room.
Maybe the guests for that celebration would have liked to be closer to it.
The TV refused to work during my stay and there was no one to answer my call to the front desk
I would have taken the time to discuss this with the staff on departure however again there was no one present.

This is our second stay here, and once again everything was great. From the warm friendly greeting at reception, the clean, large, warm room to the friendly bar staff. We didn’t eat dinner here this time, but the food looked just as great as the last time we stayed. The Full English Breakfast was good and again delivered by friendly staff. Well done Team - Keep up the great work.

My wife and I stayed at the Bell Hotel for a short break, and I'd find it impossible to fault. The hotel is spotlessly clean, well run and in a perfect location from which to explore the town and the surrounding area. The service we received was simply outstanding and the food excellent. Thank you!

Stayed for a wedding held in the hotel, everything from check in to check out was great. Housekeeping got my room ready so I could check in early for 2.30 wedding. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and very helpful with a special thanks to the gentleman who allowed us to stay in the bar relaxing and chatting until the early hours. (Sorry I forgot your name, I was a little tired) I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel. Well decorated. I was in a family room up two floors. There didnt appear to be any lift. Breakfast was nice but slow. Wet poached eggs put straight onto toast which made the toast very soggy. Had to order more toast. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Bathroom could do with updating. Old lovely building.

Extremely helpful staff at reception. Nice location situated centrally in the town close to all amenities. Get there early if you can if you want one of the four parking places at the hotel. If you plan on booking a taxi for further movement, book it early or you are walking! A little over priced, but you are paying for the location i suppose.

Nice location with friendly staff, ample (paid) parking in the car park over the road and comfortable clean room. Only negative is that due to the age of the building, the rooms aren’t sound proofed and so be prepared to heat conversations from the corridor and in the room next door.

This was a last minute stay and we could not be happier with the place (especially for the price). The hotel room was lovely. We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, and we both had good meals and drinks. We also explored the local area on foot.

Great weekend away with my wife.
I work away from home a lot for work. I booked this trip to take my wife away as a treat for all the time she spends without me. She chose this hotel. As we walked through reception we were greeted with a warm welcome, check in was quick and painless. We had chosen one of the suites, it had loads of room, a four poster bed, large bathroom and everything was clean and pristine. After a quick unpack, we walked down to the bar, and again was greeted with a warm friendly smile. Service was table service, and the staff were very attentive. We booked a table in the restaurant for 6:30. Returned to the room to take a bath and dress for dinner. At dinner, the staff remained very friendly and attentive and the food was really good. We both had the lamb and the flavours on the plate were rich and varied. If I had any negative comments, our room was not very sound proof. We could hear conversation from other rooms below and next to us. But it’s an old building and this was acceptable. We will definitely stay again - thanks to all of the team there.
