We were on the 5th floor and the Wi-Fi was terrible, never connected and was not available 80% of the time. For two people there were only 3 hangers, we asked reception multiple times for more with no luck. There are no irons or kettles in the rooms. The breakfast is very poor in taste and options, there is no flat bread to toast, food is not labelled, orange and peach taste like water, and you have to pay for orange juice.
Only good thing is the location, 5-10mins walk to the bazaar, close to the tram line. Confusion on checkout time, Expedia says 11.30am, reception says 12pm.. if booking transport, probably best to book via hotel, should be 1500-1800TL each way. Don’t use Travelium via Expedia as they are not allowed to approach the hotel and will ask you to walk 10mins. Having visited this hotel 10 years ago, the quality has drastically fallen, the food was better before and they even gave two water bottle each day, not you only get one on arrival. It’s unfortunately gone from a 4 star to a 2 star. The rooftop restaurant is shockingly expensive, for two people small lunch cost £75, and they refused the 10% discount for hotel staff, which the hotel advertised everywhere. It’s sad to see this hotel fall apart, but they have the potential to fix the key issues and work back to a 4 star again. All the best to them.

Although the hotel rooms are clean, but the other facilities are not maintained well. There wasn’t hot water in the rooms for several times, the Spa was crowded, the pool’s water was cold, the breakfast area was messy. I think the staff need to be trained to be more friendly.

Whilst the property was fine, they arranged on ground transport with a mob of shysters. We arrived at arranged meeting place, all staff were playing with their phones and none seemed to be our booked transport. None of them had our names registered in their system. 1 said they could take us, but to wait, never saw them again, then a second did the same and after 20 minutes we took a taxi (at half the cost of the booked transfer). On arrival at the hotel, transfer had called the hotel to say WE were a no show. Hotel staff then blackmailed us into paying the Euro 60 by refusing to hand our passports back until we did.
After some discussion and return of passports, hotel staff paid half and only half back.
Every where we went in that area, someone was after a piece of the action, wanting to sell us something we didnt want at exorbitant prices.
Counterfeit luxury goods (watches, bags etc) abound. I would not go there again.

The hotel turned out to not be what was advertised at time of booking. The pool, spa and gym area is rundown, and clearly needs investment. If this had been rectified prior to my arrival then I would be giving this hotel a 5 star review.

The hotel rooms are very old specifically the washrooms. The hotel management scheduled maintenance work at night and the noise from maintenance drilling and cutting kept me and my sick kids awake all night prior to our flight. When i called the receptionist he refused that there work happening and when i kept calling he finally accepted that construction was going on. Terrible experience. Also the location is tough for the taxis to get in.

Stay as far away from this hotel as you possibly can. First the room. The mattresses are hard like concrete. I even switched my room and still unbelievable uncomfortable. There are no lights on the room besides the end table lamps. The room phone was not working, so you can't call the front desk. The bathrooms are moldy and the sockets ripped out of the walls. I wish I could attach the pictures I took. Then, the pool and sauna area. It's actually nice down there. The pool super cold but manageable. One evening I went to the pool and then the Turkish bath. As every time, I lay face down on the middle table relaxing. I did notice somebody walk in but didn't really pay to much attention. All of a sudden this dude starts rubbing my back. I was like woooooo hold on. Stop! I got up and this dude was completely naked with a hard on standing in front of me. I got really mad and walked outside after he told me common just one time only one time. I told the pool guys and management. Nothing was done any this guy. They seen him so why not address this. Then I switched hotels and as I'm standing outside this hotel talking to the taxi guy, talking about the price I'm putting my backpack in the car and as I'm want to put my suitcase in, he speeds off with all my money, passport everything gone!!! Please stay away from this hotel.

I feel that you have miss sold this hotel. You have listed it as a 4 star hotel with spar. I dont see a spar down stairs.
The pool has broken lights.
The jacuzzi doesnt work.
The pool fountain is broken.
The pool isnt even heated.
The steam room is broken.
The GYM is out of service.
The hair salon isn’t in service.
The Turkish bathrooms look dirty.

The only thing down there that was working until today was the sauna.

And now that doesn’t work any more !!

Where to start, bed too hard, quilt too heavy, pillows clumpy. The shower oh the shower, black mould everywhere, broken and missing tiles, leaking hose. The toilet bowl directly in front of the basin making the sink unusable. The shower door opened outwards which left no room to enter. What a game, I had to stand on the toilet out of the way, naked, open the shower door and enter that way. The breakfast very limited.
Luckily that was it, the sevice was great and the evening restaurant was to die for. Everything we ordered was cooked and presented to perfection. Very tasty and moreish. We avoided it thinking the food elsewhere would be better yet all along the best was right upstairs.

The location of the hotel was great as i could walk to most attrections etc. The hotel itself was a different matter. It was dark in the lobby and rooms even with lights on. Aircon just did not cool the rooms down which even after telling management nothing was done. Toilet seats broken and cleaners did not even really clean. Made up bed and gave some new towels but that was it. The day of checkout the cleaner walks in at 8.30am (checkout 11.30) whilst we was asleep. When i asked her why she entered our room, she said we should have left the room by this point. Clearly no communication from management to cleaners. There was also an incident in the hotel restaurant however with this the hotel management reacted quickly and resolved. The swimming area was not hygienic at all. Overall i would not rate this a 4* but a 2* sounda more reasonable

Some of the reception staff could be more hospitable while other staff were helpful. Cleaning lady on floor 6 was probably the best ive experienced, amazing attention to detail. Lovely, cozy swimming pool area with very helpful staff. Great location, easy to get around, great stay.

This property is NOT as described by Expedia it definitely does not have swimming, steam sauna and jacuzzi as described nothing works or Hotel saving cost due to capacity of guest.
I complained about the facilities not being available and was given a fake email.
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL - Expedia should remove from listing for sure very disappointed by Expedia having this on their site. I could have chosen an alternative Hotel for my stay.
The service was terrible with the exception of some staff.
The hotel, especially rooms smell of smoke,despite having the AC on or off or the heating on and leaving window open!!!
THIS HOTEL IS NOT SMOKE FREE.
Food is terrible NOT fresh for sure the Chef is disrespectful and rude.
You cannot fill up your water bottle you have to take a glass of water as many times as you want!
The only thing is location is good.

I loved the breakfast. The staff was nice and polite. Our water was cold and hairdryer wasn’t working. The mini fridge couldn’t keep beverages cold enough. The rooms were not as clean as the hotels in the states but not sure whether all the hotels in Istanbul are the same or just this one. It is located in a very nice area, lots of restaurants in a walking distance, shops, market etc.

Don’t go there. I reserved a taxi thru them but I got a clunker minibus instead. It had no AC and don’t look sanitized. It was late by 1/2 hr and it was too late for me to change plans. This was a highway robbery at a hotel. The management is not trustworthy. There are no coffee pot or cups in the room, nor iron or iron board. Rooms have carpeted floors when most hotels converted to wooden floor for health and sanitary reasons. Double bed means two twins put side by side. Lighting in the room is very dim (v. Low wattage bulbs); one has to open windows to see better. Concierge and the cleaning crews are the only bright spots.

WORST HOTEL EVER

Worst hotel I’ve been to my whole life. I paid for my 11 nights booking fully before checking in and little did I know for the surprise that had been waiting for me. When we came to check in at night, hotel manager kept insisting that I pay $100 more “in order to get better view rooms” all though I kept telling him that I do not need that which he later rudely said “okay lady I don’t think you understand english” No sir, I speak english fluently I just don’t need you to rip me off at 2 am when we’re all tired and I just want our room cards. Rooms were dirty, there was a blood stain on one of the bed sheets, stains everywhere and wifi doesn’t work at all; we had to sit on the hallway in order to get a wifi connection. Staff at the restaurant were extremely rude. We had other family members who were staying at the hotel next to us and they would visit us at our rooms sometimes. Night manager kicked my uncle (violently pushing him) out of the hotel saying no visitors are allowed at night even though he showed him his ID that he’s a family member. Ruined our Istanbul trip. I’d give this hotel 0/10.

I liked that the room was big, location was great next to tramway and metro station,

i didn't like the stuff at the breakfast, rude, its like that dont like their job, as for the other stuff i feel they do anything to get more money from us, i think that was the case for all istanbul.
One more thing the staff decided to check the mini bar everyday, even when we didn't want him to get in.
and also the spa, well we went me and my fiance but it was all semi naked men, it wasn't comfortable at all for her as we wanted to have romantic moment
they gave us a room where we can see a wall from the window and next to an office so we were hearing the staff phone calls

Hi, well went i got to the room, did not like it at all, but the staff was so very kind and shiwed me a digferent room, and transfered me to that one, location of hotel is excellent! Breakfast was included and had a great varierity with awesome staff and great customer service. I want to mention the night shift personnel, names are very hard but this gentlemen starts his shift at 11am to 11pm he is awesome!!! Enis (sorry dont know how to spell it) is the bell boy and he was great, in general we had the best time in Istanbul. Oh and not to forget that they stored my luggage while traveling to Israel. THANK YOU ALL!!

The property is old. The beds, TV, and all the accommodation needs renewation. The pictures shows everything much bigger. The restaurant has a great view and looks pretty nice. The indoor pool is much smaller than the picture and the water is freezing cold. The bathroom and shower area are small. The staff are generally nice specially mr ejivit (not sure of spelling) in reception and ended (pronounces “in-s”) we’re real help. It is real close to bazar, and many historical places and some party places.

Very good hotel close to tram station and 5 mins walk from Grand Bazaar. It was a perfect stay and the staff were so polite and courteous. The only downfall was that there was no kettle in the room and iron. It would have been a bonus to have them in the room. Apart from that I cannot fault the hotel at all. Darkhill - Great location, friendly staff

Great location and convenience for the major sights including a tram stop a few metres away. Staff were friendly and helpful especially Egavet (sorry if I have spelt his name wrong) - lovely chap indeed - and rooms were kept clean everyday. Lighting throughout most of the hotel was average and, although breakfast was included, there was limited hot food options available. I would say that the hotel could do with a makeover as it looks a little tired. Marked as 4* but would say more like 3+ mainly down to the decor, lack of hot food breakfast options and overall ambience. That said, it does have an indoor pool - quite difficult to find a hotel in Istanbul centre with one - that kept the kids occupied during rest times.

Very nice hotel in the center of Istanbul. Lovely breakfast very comprehensive! The staff are friendly and helpful and the Hotel restaurant with open roof has amazing food we found it far better that any other restaurants in Istanbul. The hotel is a short walk to the Grand Bazaar and the major sites Bleu Mosque, Aghia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. In addition to that you have the tramway across the road which goes atound the city for any other destinations. I would definitely recommend this hotel .

We come here every time we visit İstanbul. It’s close to the tramway so we can get to the Grand Bazaar and the other major attractions conveniently. The staff feel like family and make us feel welcome. The roof top breakfast is fantastic.

This hotel was wonderful from its central location to the excellent service provided especially by the restaurant dinner staff . They have a beautiful rooftop patio with wonderful views of the sea and city.
The hotel is a 2 min walk to the Main Street and to the Laleli University tram stop in the old city. It’s only 1 tram stop away from the Grand Bazaar which is also only a 10 min walk, and only a few more stops gets you to the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, and the spice Bazaar. There are restaurants and shops all around within walking distance. The room was very comfortable and spacious with 3 single beds and a double pullout couch. The only drawback is the closest is quite tiny. The rooftop restaurant Kosebasi was also excellent and probably the best food we had in Istanbul. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Istanbul!

When I got to the hotel with my family we were told they did not have adjoining rooms because they were full. I booked two rooms in March and checked in at the end of June 2018. After a long trip expectation is your rooms would be prepared to your request especially when you book months in advance. The breakfast is almost the same everyday. I called the front desk to reserve a Turkish bath appt. for my sons and when they went to check in for the appointment they were told that a party of five are already using the bath. Very upset that I had made an appt early in the day and to be told our reservation was given to someone else. To many rules for the pool and the hot tub was cold. my daughter asked why the water was cold and they told her it was normal. Makes no sense! It seemed many guest were having issues upon their arrival due to the rooms. The location is great but, I wouldn’t stay here again.

This hotel is located in the business district, which we found to be a low vibe area.

The smell of cigarette smoke was EVERYWHERE - in the lobby, in the hotel rooms, the elevators, the hallways. We paid for a double bed, nonsmoking room and were given a room with 2 twins that wreaked of cigarette smoke and stale ashtrays. The room was tiny and hard to walk through with our suitcases. The bathroom was very small (you touch the toilet as you brush your teeth at the sink.) Internet was terrible. The room didn't come with water, which is a bummer since you can't drink the tap water. We went to the front desk to ask where we might purchase some water and the front desk attendant laughed at us and said to walk to the store down the street.

For someone who is looking to save money and is not interested in luxuries or comfort, this hotel may work for you. Just know that there are much better hotel options and better areas to stay in.

For someone looking for a pleasant Istanbul experience I recommend staying on a different side of town.

We cancelled our remaining nights after our first day at Darkhill and moved to the GLK Premier Acropol Suites (such a night and day difference - charming area, beautiful street that comes alive at night with restaurants, hookah lounges and shops to explore. Walking distance to Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, tram line, etc.) Once we moved our stay in Istanbul became magical.

NICE HOTEL

HOTEL WAS VERY CENTRAL AND HAD A GREAT ROOF TOP TERRACE FOR SUN BATHING. THE STAFF WERE PLEASANT. TRAM WAS JUST ROUND THE CORNER TO TAKE YOU AROUND ISTANBUL AND IT WAS VERY CHEAP. FOUND A GREAT TURKISH RESTAURANT AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE HOTEL. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. ROOMS WERE A GOOD SIZE.

Excellent hotel overall, but the internet!

I really liked the hotel overall. Everything was very good, but they really need to work on enhancing the internet connection in the rooms - it was too slow and sometimes didn't work at all.

Center of most amenities in Istanbul.

I love Istanbul for a short City Break, the Hotel has all the facilities I require and a short distance from the Grand Bazar. Loads of shopping areas to attend but can never cover all all areas as there is so much to do and visit. I attend nearly every four to five months.

Nice hotel, with friendly stuff

Location is very good, 10 min by walk and you will see Aya Sophia.
Breakfast was good, but juices and water was terrible. Fresh juice and omlette was with additional charge.
Pool and bath perfect! Also to swim in pool is forbidden without cap. 5 $ extra charge for cap
