Unfriendly behaviors

This hotel has a great location , use to be one of the best 4* in Fatih .
My last experience was terrible,
I received unkind treatment from one of the hotel workers, who later turned out to be the manager. Reception workers are usually chosen on the basis of morals and cheerfulness and superviser should provide solutions not complications and rude behaviors.

Hotel is nice and renovated. Great location right in front of tram and walking distance to grand bazaaar. Rooms are clean. Breakfast buffet in morning is good - they change hot menu options around each day. Staff is courteous and helpful. Biggest criticism I had was that there is NO iron in the rooms. You have to pay for each article of clothing to be ironed for you. Logistically it’s extremely inconvenient when ur getting ready in morning with kids. Plus laundry service closes in evening, so if u need a dress ironed for dinner then good luck. Only reason I can think they don’t provide irons is to get more money out of you. For the cost of hotel, it should have been in the rooms. Will likely choose another place to stay next time due to this inconvenience alone.

I tried to bring a guess to my room they said you can’t have a guess I don’t understand that?
I told the front desk I will pay for extra person he said no.
Property is old there is no indoor pool and sauna or other things that’s why I didn’t enjoy staying there I don’t recommend this hotel because there is other hotels you pay some price you will get swimming pool and sauna and everything that’s why I don’t recommend this hotel.

This trip was booked due to its location. Right outside the tram and 5 mins walk to the Metro. Although it is an hour away from the airport. Hotel looked very nice and were checked in around 2pm. Good view of the outside street but can get loud during NYE! The room was a good size compared to most other hotels in area. Free breakfast was good but got busy a couple of mornings. PCR test service provided at hotel was very convenient.

Great staff very accommodating and friendly. Housekeeping was excellent. The bar staff was too good. I would definitely recommend this place in a heartbeat.
Very convenient and in the center of everything. Close to all the historical sites, metro station across the hotel was very helpful especially with traffic jams.
One improvement if I can recommend is having a person outside monitoring the outdoor cafe as it’s very popular and sometimes there’s waiting involved.
Overall it was a great experience and would recommend this hotel.

I have been staying many times at the Kent hotel . I keep on coming back as it’s the best in this area . What made our stay perfect in all aspects , is the manager Mr Huseyin . Very professional and so helpful, always ready to make us happy .The location is the best , rooms are big and spacious, breakfast very satisfying . Very reasonable rates .Parking available and cheap . A good stay but need a few adjustments

The hotel is situated at a very convenient place, just off the main tram stop. The staff are very good however the room was slightly on the small side. A little noisy at night due to being on the main road/ tram line. Room not very soundproof. Breakfast ok and resturant and cafe good. Slight issue with air con, not cold enough. Very good for people interested in being close to all tourist hotspots including shopping

Strategically Located Hotel

Short walk to Tram Station, 100m to Metro and 20mins walk to Sultanahmet (Old City) therefore well located.

We were 2Adults and 3Children and were given a family room (Rm 417) facing the adjacent hotel roofing and AC system however this was not an issue for us as there's not much of a view except the main road facing the university faculty.

Room was clean, spacious, AC in serviceable condition and washroom adequate though somewhat on the small side. Shower power was great.

A few housekeeping issues:
1) used towels were removed however not replaced which we only received on request on our return at 11pm ...even then floor mats were not available
2) totally consumed toilets tissue rolls were not replenished until we asked
3) windows would be left open which allowed Mosquitos to enter. As a consequence we were all bitten over two days.

Breakfast was satisfactory with very little variation over our 9days stay.

TV channels extremely limited to 2-3 English news channels. Wifi was weak.

I would stay here again though found it slightly expensive for a 4star hotel.

Highly recommend stay at Kent hotel

great location, brilliant hotel, I had a great stay at this hotel. Lovely and fluent English speaking reception staff. I had heard good reviews on one of their reception staff Mr Mustafa and I would like to back them reviews, he is very helpful.
Very close to the tram stop and only a few minute walk to the rip off grand bazaar.
The breakfast needs more variety and better selection for this standard of hotel. Also lacks swimming and sauna/hammam facilities.
But would still stay at this hotel again.

Very good experience. We checked in quickly after finding the hotel (our gps said the hotel was on a back street... in reality it is on the main street almost next door to a Doubletree Hilton). The room was spacious and had basic amenities. Shower was awesome (hose and overhead) and everything clean. Included breakfast had variety and was pretty good. Only downside is the WiFi was pretty weak our entire time there, often disconnecting, but we managed.

A fantastic hotel with brilliant staff

The location of the hotel was excellent and all the main attractions were in walking distance (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). E.g the grand bazaar, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi palace. The staff at the hotel were amazing; especially the hotel receptionists who were friendly, welcoming and always willing to help with any queries and offer advice on locations and places to visit. A real credit to the hotel! I would book this hotel again.

The location is very near the famous market, mosques, and other tourist attractions. It's only one or two tram stops or a short walk from most of what a visitor would want to see in Istanbul. There is an excellent breakfast, plenty of selection. I was pretty happy that there is also good variety from day to day it's not the same thing all the time.

The staff is friendly and helpful. They assisted with delivery of a wireless hotspot (renting one is a necessity in Istanbul) and also mailed post cards for me. Their English was fine.

The only downside is that the walls are very thin. The first night, the guy next door was really sick and I heard the poor guy puking all night. Glad I had earplugs, because he was heaving his guts out in full glory and I heard all of it. Fortunately I didn't encounter any tummy trouble myself in Istanbul!

Just returned from family trip to Istanbul and stayed at Kent Hotel in Istanbul. Found the hotel to be good value for money as it was within 10 - 15 minutes walk of all the main sites. Very helpful staff, beautiful room which was very clean - bathroom particularly nice. Didn't eat in the hotel restaurant as there were so many other places to try but breakfast was good.

Very helpful staff. Great location

Staff is very helpful and very accommodating. They always talked respectfully and with a smile. One of the cleaning ladies accidentally trashed my kid's sippy cup. The hotel got us another from somewhere even though shops were closed and weather was cold.

The location is great. Its 30 second walk from tram station which make most attractions in Istanbul accessible easily.

We were staying with our 2 kids, (1.5 and 4 year old).

Odd practices

So first off there are some things on the hotels.com page which are incorrect, and a few other things which are annoying.

1. There is no iron available, you can send clothingg out for dry cleaning (at $5usd/shirt), but cannot get an iron in order to get rid of wrinkles
2. There is no shuttle to the main airport (IST). Their \"shuttle\" is to hail a cab
3. Front desk staff was not helpful at all, my fiancée wanted to double check what dress would be required in order to enter the blue mosque. They said anything, we asked about shorts, bare shoulders, and head coverings for her and the response was that she could wear anything (not at all correct)
4. They turn the AC off to all the rooms during the day. Not just when you are out of the room, but at a set time every day. This was quite annoying for us since we would rest at the hotel after lunch between seeing the sites in order to avoid the heat outside. The first time I called down they said that someone would \"fix it\" since I thought it was broken, however the next day I was told it was shut off every day. They turned it back on when I asked, but I still had to call every day when the room started warming up again

Overall the hotel was decent as a place to crash in between seeing the sites. It's right on one of the trams, so that's nice. The beds were very hard, and I had a sore back after 2-3 nights. We probably wouldn't stay here again if we're back in Istanbul as there are a lot of other hotels available.

Hotel staff went out of their way to assist us as we realised that we left our passports in the taxi from the airport. Their kindess made all the difference as they helped us get our passports back.

The hotel room was beautifully spacious and quiet. The recent renovations ensured the hotel is in great condition and housekeeping service was good.

The Kent was a great hotel. The rooms were clean. There was free access to the internet in the lobby. And the food in the restaurant was tasty. The hotel was also close to all of the must-see sights. But beware, this closeness brings massive traffic congestion. Plan on walking everywhere or taking the metro.

Excellent as a base for sightseeing

This hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing. It is a 10 minute walk from the Blue Mosque, a 5 minute walk from the Grand Bazaar. Easily accessible from the airport using the metro and then tram, the atop is diagonally opposite the hotel. The tram goes to Taksim, making the whole of the city easily accessible. Can recommend it wholeheartedly for visiting Istanbul. Staff very fire sly and helpful, large rooms, very quiet and a good breakfast buffet.

The test of character is how you behave when things go wrong. There was a mistake in our booking and the staff was utterly uesless in helping us clear it up. We wasted at least 3 hours over the course of a 2 day stay at the desk where both communication skills and courtesy were sorely lacking. They wanted to charge us $85 for a call they let us make from the desk to avoid charges! We moved to Doubletree next door and had a great stay, enjoying staff trained to be of assistance to guests.

Kent Hotel Istanbul- Horrible Service

Very unfriendly front desk service. There were three of us staying in the room (which had a queen bed and one single bed) and because we did not specify that there were three people staying, the reservation manager charged us another 100 Euros on top of what we already paid because they assumed we only had 2 people- even though the room already slept 3. To add to the rip off, he was extremely rude about it.

Find another hotel with better service for the similar price.

This is a good quality hotel, conveniently situated. It is on the edge of the old city, close to the Grand Bazaar. It is on the tram line with easy access via a Metro change to the airport and in the other direction to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi and the Bosphorus ferries.
The small problem is the nearby very loud call to prayer but is probably a risk in any Istanbul hotel. The hotel WiFi was not working.
The staff were excellent and those at reception spoke English.

Very Clean, Very Comfortable,Very Convenient

The location of the Kent Hotel is ideal for any first time visitor to Istanbul. It sits right on a main tram line in Sultanahmet, the neighborhood that features the Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the main ferry terminal. It's also very convenient to get to from the airport, thus saving a few Turkish liras for anyone not afraid to take public transportation.

As for the hotel, the rooms are extremely clean , new looking and fresh smelling. The beds were comfortable and large. We had a queen size and twin size bed in our room, so we pushed them together to make a super king size bed. There were also plenty of functional pillows for those who like pillows. There were also slippers available! How cool is that? I liked shuffling around in them so much, I brought the unused pair home just so that I could shuffle around at home.

The bathroom has a nice sized standing shower with a hand-held shower head AND a ceiling shower head, which I loved. The water pressure was great and there was plenty of cold and hot water. My only negative comment about the room would be that smoke from a neighbor's room leaked into our room when some neighbor smoked. There's a shared ventilation/air conditioner system i think, and at times, I could pick up the scent of smoke in the bathroom.

The hotel also offers a complimentary breakfast that is served until 10am that has a very nice selection of eggs, sausage, breads, pastries, fruit, yogurt, spreads, teas, and coffee. The coffee was dispensed from a Nesltle machine, but it was strong and had options for lattes, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate. That may not mean much to some people, but I really enjoyed making my coffee to order.

The staff was nice enough. Had I used their services more, like asking for recommendations and whatever else, I am sure they would have obliged. Actually, the bell-hop, a 15 year old was quite nice and friendly. On our last day there, he wheeled our suitcases to the tram stop for us.

Lastly, there is complimentary wireless internet available for anyone with a laptop. Just be sure to ask for the password at check in or call the reception for it because there's no information about the internet in the room.

Just a quick mention about the cost of things in Istanbul. The euro is about 2.50 Turkish lira at the time I went, while the dollar was about 1.75 Turkish lira. Cost of the tram, bus, local ferry trip is 1.75 lira per trip. A kebab is about 3.50 to 4 lira, a little bottle of water is .50 lira, Turkish tea is .75 lira, one-way ticket for the ferry cruise all the way up the Bosphorus is 15. Just a sample of prices to give you an idea of how far your dollar or euro can carry you in Istanbul. I hope your trip will be as fun and memorable as mine!

Kent Hotel Istanbul

The location was fabulous for walking and taking public transportation. The room was quite clean. However, the air conditioning (much needed) worked only about half the time. The Internet also was only functioning about 1/3 of the time, which is extremely problematic if you need to rely upon it daily. The hotel will claim the Internet is working if it gets any signal at all, but usually the signal and bandwidth were so low that one couldn't functionally use the network. The safe in the room also was buggy enough that in the end we chose not to trust it.
