When we arrived at 4pm the room was still not ready for another hour and a half. The room once given were not on the same floor as requested either. We were then told they will try again the next day. The room I was in had a leak coming from the ceiling in the bathroom and when we complained they said it was not a serious enough issue to change rooms. After being mg adamant they gave us 2 rooms on the same floor but the light switches didn’t work well and the room could have been cleaner. Overall the pool was great and the view was amazing. I guess you get what you paid for. The tall man at the reception was accommodating. Thank you

My baby’s cot bed wasn’t available the night we arrived even though it was clear from the booking we had a baby with us. On arrival, we were told we had to wait until the next morning to request a bed so ended up cosleeping with the baby, which isn’t safe, but had no choice. The next day a play pen arrived which was ok. The shower was dated and a bit of it kept falling off, but overall it was OK. Location was good for the sites we wanted to see. Breakfast was good - really good range of food, from bread, to fruits, meats and salads. We always had a lovely breakfast. Great for a city break.

Don’t book !!!

Do not book this hotel as it has stinky smell in the rooms . No plugs for charging around bed . Lift doesn’t work . Very low water pressure Breakfast was fine though

Room was awful. We kept complaining to no avail. Lights kept tripping nonstop for the duration of our stay. Wash basin was badly cracked. The rooms are in a bad state. Wardrobe so small you cant use. It is really bad. Soap and shampoo not filled. Asked for a kettle. But no cups or tea or coffee. If you looking for a very basic 1* place then this is it. Etem who worked there previously always went out of his way to give a better room. Not this time.

The room 514 had no window. The only small window was in the bathroom. There was no door between the room and the bathroom so morning light comes directly to the room early morning. Too much noisy neighbours. At arrival many electric wires were out..

I came in very tired as the hotel is located on a hill and was not reachable with a taxi, so I had to walk up there. I kindly asked the receptionist Emet köbek for a quiet room and he gave me a room on a fifth floor exactly next to an old noisy lift. By the way the rooms in the hotel are very small and I found the cleaning staff more friendly than the service staff.

The room for two was very small. They offered us another room, but without a window, so we continied to stay in the previous one. Reception is not helpful. I ordered at the reception a standard Istanbul yellow taxi to airport, but they didnt, and offered me a hotel taxi dor a slightly higher price. I was about to miss my flight back home.

The hotel is reasonable in general. It happened with me attitude strange and very bad (I was told I have a conversation telephone for 5 hours and surprise, then, that I was out of the room. You book dinner on the boat floating from the same hotel .. has met with officials who are in a very chill, insisting to pay the amount of $ 250 and that the system Phone Do not make mistakes .. have never sat down and convinced them about an hour Atakrt on my journey .. Is it possible I have been making a call and I'm out of the room ??? at end of story i didnot come to this hotel again ..

A hidden gem

Spent two nights at the Laleli Gonen in October 2013. On check in, we were given a twin room but this was quickly changed for a queen when we asked. It was warm enough to sit by the rooftop pool with great views - a rarity for a city hotel. Breakfast was buffet style and tasty. Rooms were fairly small but clean and pleasant, and we were happy to eat in there one night. Walkable to the major sights as well as restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay again if in Istanbul

Good for a long weekend

We stayed in a Standard room over a long weekend, and were pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of staff and room size. The hotel is quiet, breakfast varied (in a continental/Mediterranean, but not English breakfast way). The rooftop pool/bar is a definite bonus.

The area where hotel is located is close to one of the large metro stations (we took the train from the airport and walked to the hotel). It is also close to Grand Bazaar, and a walking distance from Sultanahmet. It felt safe to come back to the hotel at nighttime.

Downsides: instant coffee at breakfast, and outdated bathroom.

Overall excellent value for money, particularly if you are out all day sightseeing.

Close to the tourist action plus a pool

Picked this particular hotel for the terrace top pool within a hot sweaty metropolis. The perfect way to unwind after a busy's days sight seeing. It did the job.
Friendly staff, great breakfasts serving a combination of traditional Turkish food and continental breakfasts.
Great location, easily reachable from the airport via train/tram. A 20 minute walk from the main Sultanahmet tourist area, which takes you past the grand bazaar.

Food and drink prices certainly take into account it's a tourist hotel, but there are plenty of restaurants/cafes in the vicinity. As well as local shops to buy basic provisions (bottles of water,beer) cheaply.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul, and would come back myself.

Room was a little small, but have stayed in smaller. Bathroom was very tiny, shower over small bath tub, leaked quite badly. Toilet behind door which could then not open very wide. No problems with aircon or lift. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Taxi to airport 45TL, which is fair, and is for up to 4 persons. Breakfast ok, but food quite unhealthy if you don't stick to just fruit. Very oily otherwise. Had a better breakfast at the Zagreb Hotel. Good location and easy to find, near Laleli University Tram stop.

Budget and OK option for Istanbul explorers.

The Room was clean, and comfy, the bedsheets and towels have a strong bleach smell, so there is no doubt that they have a pretty good sanitary level, the thing was that the walls are so thin that you can clearly hear the other guests chatting in the other rooms, which may keep you awake against your will, and our bathroom has not extractor, so it had few molt spots, but we already were aware of this because of previous reviews, but nothing serious that you can´t handle. Breakfast is OK with cold and hot options, but not much variety, we stayed for a week and the dishes were always the same. Hotel location 8 mins walk from the metro station, 25 mins walk from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, 15 mins to Grand Bazar, 35 mins to Galata tower.

Laleli gönen otelde daha önce kaldık ve çok memnun kalmıştık. Bu sefer oda için aynı şeyi söyleyemeyeceğim. Oda bu sefer çok temiz değildi. Duvarda burun **** vardı. Banyoda yerde çengelli iğne vardı. Klozet içeri girdiğimizde su kaçırıyordu. Bazı yerler o kadar tozluydu ki sanki aylardır kullanılmayan bir oda bize açılmış gibiydi. Kahvaltısı her zamanki gibi mükemmel. Kahvaltıdan dolayı yine de 4 puan verdim.

Chambre double avec 2 lits simples côte à côte, vraiment pas top. Petit déjeuner identique toute la semaine, sans micro ondes pour réchauffer son lait par exemple. Chambre minuscule sans mobilier de rangement pour les vêtements. Seul l’emplacement de l’hôtel est bien.

I don’t know why the room was so poor. Maybe, we chose the lower price? The room was too dark to know whether it was clean or not. The fridge and TV were completely broken. (Why didn’t they remove them?)
The good point is the accessibility: the hotel is close to T1(Tram), which goes to Sultanahmet and Eminönü, and M2(Metro), which goes to the Istanbul airport.
The hotel staff are friendly, but I don't know whether they were well-knowledgeable about the access to touristic spots.

I have never stayed this kind terrible hotel before. The equipment, such as TV, electric pot, fridge and light is completely broken or very poor. As for cleanliness, they didn't seem to clean the room.

The good points are the price and the location. We can access to many touristic spots easily.

Das Hotel personal war sehr nett und freundlich, das einzige was mich gestört hat war das die Nachtruhe im Hotel nicht eingehalten und auch nicht kontrolliert wurde, bis 2 Uhr morgens hat man durchgehend Türen knallen und Menschen lautstark reden bzw. lachen gehört. Erst nach 2 Uhr konnte man sich erholen.

Merkezi konumda olduğu için tercih ettiğimiz bir oteldi ve hem konumu merkezi idi hem de toplu taşımaya çok yakındı ama onun dışında otelden pek memnun kalmadık. Personeller pek yardımsever değillerdi, oda temizlik yapıldıktan sonra bile pek temiz gözükmüyordu. Otelde kahvaltı etme şansımız olmadı o yüzden mutfağı hakkında bir yorumum yok.
