The night shift receptionist is super friendly whereas the day shift one was mean and impatient. We were trying to pay the hotel fees but he was super impatient and got mad at us. The amenities are poor we barely got hand soap. There was only one toilet paper roll. In fact, the price/quality ratio was reasonable but the minimum was missing.

The place to stay when you visit Istanbul!

We lost our passport and wallet just before arriving at the hotel. The hotel management went the extra mile in guiding us through the process of getting a police report and getting to the Consulate.
It is relatively easy via public transportation to get to any place in Istanbul that you want to go.
We highly recommend this hotel to others.

Excellent location. Close to all the sightseeing places and shopping areas. If you have a requirement for a mosque close by for prayers, the shehzade mosque is a two minute walk from the hotel. Staff are polite and helpful. The only downside was the food in the hotel.

Okay but could be better

The hotel was Ata very good location and all amenities were present.

However, for a three star hotel we had few mediocre things. At first the WiFi wasn't strong enough. Also they required you to log in for each device. Every time you move from one floor to the other the WiFi disconnects. It was so annoying. Could not recommend this to any business traveling.

The potters could also do with smiling. The canteen food wasn't very good for the class of the hotel. They also forced you to eat and finish and leave the breakfast area, by their action, obviously without a smile and switching off the light. A training n customer etiquette would help. Vibe was dead at this hotel.

Moderate hotel with average levels of customer service and an ordinary breakfast that lacked variety. Roof terrace was under utilised and a lot of the rooms had small twin single beds.
Best thing about the hotel was it's central location and it's cleaners who did a decent job.

Barin Hotel, is a nice hotel.

This hotel is few meters from the tramway station. You can easily head to the Grand Bazar by walking 10 minutes. Its Staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. Everything for me was fine.

Nice affordable hotel near the old city

A good and recommendable budget hotel that is near the Istanbul old city. It is near the Istanbul University and all other popular tourist spots that are well connected via the tram service. The room is quite small but who cares about room size in Istanbul where you will spend most of your time outside. The beds were comfortable and the room clean. After dark, the area around the hotel may be quite uncomfortable due to the number of vagrants and homeless people there, but do not be intimidated, they pose no harm.

Arrival is welcomed and bags/luggage were brought to the room by the hotel staff. Breakfast for 5 days were ok although similar menu with slight changes in 2-3 types of foods. Room was cleaned daily. Security was wonderful. Nothing was lost during my stay at the hotel. Taxi is available easily.

The location of the hotel is good. If you are going for the business trip ,I will suggest this hotel. This hotel is near the Laleli, Beyazit and Mercan. The room are small but are cleaning and comfort. I think ,for the money that you pay this hotel is okay.

We really enjoyed our stay,room very neat and contains all you need. Breakfast was good with quite a choice of what to enjoy. Loved the big market with all its interesting stalls just a few meters away. My second visit and will stay there again if visiting Barcelona

Good 'old city' location

Stayed for 4 nights-party of 4 males. Found the Hotel more than met our overall expectations. It is is a good central location on the European side/Old City. Near to transport-bus/tram links. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Rooms were smallish but this was expected for 3 *. Staff @ reception were very helpful indeed booking transfers/restaurants etc. Personally I found the breakfast buffet a bit poor but my companions didn't.

A good, no frills, hotel for \"history\" tourists

The cost of this hotel was at the lower end of the scale, and thus my expectations weren't too high. The Barin is VERY tired and dated, the rooms are small and internal rooms have almost no natural light. If you spend much time in your room or your hotel, this is not the hotel for you! However, if you use a hotel room for a comfortable bed and a shower and want to save on the cost to spend your money elesewhere, this is a good choice. The staff are really helpful and knowledgeable. It is in the fashion/wholesale district of the old town, next to the historic bazaar, the viaduct and 2 beautiful mosques. Thus the area is bussling and down at heel, but charming for it. It is a 5 minite walk to the T1 tram \"Laleli\" stop with easy access to the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque (SultanAhmet), Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Galatas Bridge (for Bosphorus cruises and Ferries), etc. If you want to immerse yourself in the feeling of history and feel surrounded by the real people, this is the area for you. If you prefer a more westerized experience, head to the modern areas of Istanbul across the Golden Horn. (post script: the T1 also takes you to Istanbul Modern Art with connections for the modern shopping areas like Nisantasi / Beyoglu / Taksim)

Barin Hotel, Istanbul - Easy, Convenient, Nice

The staff at the Barin were very nice, helpful and accommodating. It's located in the Old City section of Istanbul and is within walking distance of the Grand Bizarre (10-15 minutes), the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, and the Spice Market (20-25 minutes). It's also close to a tram stop if you don't want to walk. The breakfast was included and was really good. The hotel lobby was well decorated, inviting and a nice place to relax with a beer at the end of a day of walking. Also, there was free wireless in the hotel lobby so it was easy to catch up with family and friends back home. The only complaints we had were the beds were hard and the walls are VERY thin. There was a crying baby next door to us and construction on the building across the street so we would recommend earplugs or just make sure you go to bed really, really tired in order to sleep through it. If we ever returned to Istanbul, we would certainly stay at the Barin Hotel again.

Barin Hotel - clean & close to Sultanahmet sights!

Check-in was quick and painless; hotel staff at front desk spoke English which was very helpful for a couple of Canadian travellers like us!

The hotel was clean and well-maintained. Rooms are outfitted with all the basics and very comfortable, if not luxurious. Radiator heating in-room and also self-controlled air conditioning fan unit. Small mini-bar has enough room to stash a few things of your own - water, fruit, etc.

Daily buffet breakfast was always tasty and of good quality. If you're particular about your toiletries, consider bringing your own shampoo and conditioner, as the room includes a shampoo and bar soap only.

No complaints, we had a very pleasant stay and were walking distance to all the sights we wanted to see in Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, etc.) and Fatih (Spice Bazaar, Galata Bridge, etc.).

A decent hotel with great price

I chose this hotel because of price and because previous reviewers gave it good ratings. I just needed a place to sleep for one night as I was in transit from Iraq to the US. The hotel was clean, the staff treated me well, the breakfast was good. No problems there. Unlike hotels in the Sultanahmet area, there are in close proximity to the Hotel Barin few of the restaurants and stores that cater to tourists. Restaurants are few. The only items for sale in the stores around the hotel are clothing. But these do not detract from the hotel itself. I would stay again.

Great breakfast with a variety of turkish and western food. When I needed to print something for work, I used their computer and printed it no problem. Most of the other guests were Turkish or European so I felt like it was a good choice! The room was clean and bed firm. Air Con and TV worked. As a female traveller I felt safe. Surrounding area had lots of cheap fashion stores, but walkable to many tourist activites and 5 minutes to tram. Good low cost hotel. Would stay again.

The room was small but clean. It had a nice tv and in-room safe. The bed was comfortable but not the pillows. The bathroom was a little old and there was bad smell coming from the ventilation.
The breakfast was great and they constantly renew the ran-out items even it was 5 min before the end of the breakfast time.
There were tour groups staying, therefore it was a little noisy in the corridors early in the morning.
If you are in town for couple of days and only to use the hotel for sleeping then I think it is a great deal for the price even considering the cons.

while the over all service, state of the hotel,breakfast were good. the hotel with in walking distance of the main places of intrest. the one problem I found was that the walls of my room were not sound proof at all. I could clearly hear the Tv on 1 side and my neightbours talking to each other on the other side. people coming and going in the hall late at night. this was not people being rowdy but normal conversation. If your a light sleeper avoid this hotel. a shame becaues otherwise it was a good value hotel

good basic central hotel

based in a predominantly Russian area close to a metro lonk direct from Ataturk airport and 2 tramlinks. Also a 20 minute walk into the old town. Good value for money. There was plenty of breakdast but the quality was basic (orange squash, not juice). The rooms were a good size with air con. My only quible was the ventilation systems were situated between the bathrooms which meant you could clearly hear conversations unless you closed the bathroom door. I had to complain to the reception about the volume of the next door TV but they were very helpful and advised to call reception if it was loud again and they would speak to the guests responsible. large roof terrace was handy for popping up for a cigarette. Staff weere helpful and friendly. Rooms were very clean. The area was not typically turkish but felt safe. Good basic hotel I would recommend.

I was happilly surprised with this hotel. Given the fairly low price I expected something old in bad conditions or somewhat crappy... Not at all. It turned out to be quite a nice stay, the rooms are cute, quiet, clean, modern, beds comfortable, new sheets, etc. I totally recommend this hotel, it's an excellent deal. It's located about 10 min walk from the main attractions, so very convenient for tourists.

L'hotel est situé dans une tres bonne location ( proche de tous les endroits touristiqes et de transport) par contre en ce qui consiste au dejeuner ce dernier n'est pas assez varier et repetitif, de plus nous avons le droit qu'a une seule carte, cqui fait que lorsque l'on sort de la chambre l'éléctricité s'éteind(plus de climatisuer, ni refrigerateur)

Personal immer nett wie immer ,ob Rez, küche/Res oder die Etage ,saubere zimmer betten sind bequem
Was hat mir nicht gefallen das die Transfer, wir müssten selber suchen wo die Agentur ist ,und wir haben gewartet auf andere Gäste ,und halb istanbul gefahren bis wenn die andere Gäste in hotel sind denn wir!!!beim Abholung war auch genau so, in 2017 wir haben auch mit Transfer bestellt, hat gut geklappt wir waren Allein in Auto ,aber sonst alles ok

Ruhige Lage aber doch mitten drin. Überall in wenigen Minuten auch zu Fuss erreichbar. Strassenbahn, Metrostation in der Nähe. Eminönü-Hafen in der Nähe. Sultan-Ahmet, wo viele sehenswürdigkeiten vorhanden sind nach 3 Haltestellen mit der Strassenbahn erreichbar. Wobei wir die meisten Strecken zu Fuss hinterlegt haben. Sehr gute klassen Restorants mit guten Preisen in der Nähe. Sehr Empfehlenswert. Werde wieder nächsten Mal dieses Hotel buchen.

Das Hotel ist sehr schön und sauber eingerichtet. Service ist 1a. Die Lage super. Mann kann die gegend erkunden ohne weit zu fahren. Metro verbindungen sind super. Mann kommt überall hin ohne weit zu laufen. Ein minus punk ist, dass die wände sehr dünn sind. Mann hört neben an den besucher. Das ist sehr störend. Sonst war alles gut.

Personnel pas accueillant et pas souriant

Arrivee vers 22h aucun sourire aucun accueil personne ensuite biens le tour du monsieur qui monte nos valiser u chambre encore pire il etait enervee et navant ps de moniaie car nius venins darriver il a pas eu son pourboire il a comencer a nous insulter en turc letat de l chmbre ppropre aucun bouilloire pour the ou cafe aucun accessoire de toilette dans l salléde bain petit dejeuner corrcet mais. La fin je le prenez plus trop repetiftif et les employers qui soccuper du petit dejeuner nous surveiller a peine quin finiser notre verre vide il le debarasser on une sec qui pour degerpire vite fait si non lhotel et propre et en securite pas de probleme a se niveu la proche de tout mais il faudrait revoire la accueil car il et vraiment nul

genellikle yabancıların kaldığı personelin yardımcı olduğu kahvaltısı güzel asansörü iyi odalarda ısı ve ses yalıtımı yapılırsa ve kalorifer devamlı yakılırsa daha güzel olacak

Rooms are too noisy

The location is not that good. The immediate surroundings are mostly shops that don't look too well. But there are some tourist sights once you walk 250 meters into the centre. The hotel is very affordable, so you cannot expect too much. And the breakfast was good. The rooms however are incredibly noisy. You can hear every sound the hallway and your neighbouring rooms. That makes it difficult to relax and recharge your batteries.
