Decent area, quiet, but the overall cleanliness of the place leaves a lot to be desired.

Good value for unbeatable price. I stayed an additional night because the place was satisfactory. Bathrooms were spotless and cleaned daily, though girls' shower and sink area can start accumulating hair left behind and becoming increasingly dirty as the night goes on. The bed was firm, you could feel the springs, but the sheets were hotel-level clean.

We stayed in a 4 dorm, 2 adults and 2 kids, for 4 nights. The hostel was great for us in terms of location, cost, and room space. They serve some amazing lunch and dinner options there too! The hostel was one of the quietest I've ever stayed in and the facilities were all fairly clean and well equipped.

The property is good. But needs just a little bit of dusting but overall i will still recommend. Easy check in and out.

Like: Clean, friendly staff, easy check-in/out, very comfy bed, some space for putting luggage (not much but still better than some other hostels). Washing machine for free with free detergent coin operated dryer. Can also borrow the umbrella from the hostel if needed.
Dislike: the room door was screeching continuously, making me very uncomfortable whenever going in/out since I would disturb others. Hope the hotel fix it soon. Hot water can be on and off in the middle of your shower due to other users. If it happens to be suddenly cold, just let it run for a few more minutes to be hot again.
Also, Expedia website says towel will be provided but it wasn't (you have to book the room \"amenities included or rent it for 200Y). Should edit this info.

The staff were absolutely lovely and would help us at the drop of a hat. The food was really good and the music was fun.
The smoking downstairs in the restaurant is a huge turn off for me, as there is nowhere for non-smokers to enjoy their food. I rarely dined downstairs because it stank of cigarettes. One of the clothes dryers was out of order which was inconvenient. It was near impossible to get hot water in the showers - sometimes you had to run it for 10 minutes just to get it going. I took completely cold showers on a number of occasions. During our stay, someone defecated on the bathroom floor and walked it all throughout the room. After that incident, we often found very dirty toilet seats and it was not enjoyable trying to use them.

It was a good hostel, with friendly staff. The bathroom/shower facilities were quite good, however sometimes the hot water didn't work in the shower. In fact, there was no hot water on our last morning there, so we couldn't have a shower. I think the hot water didn't turn on until a certain time, but we weren't informed of this. Our double room was really nice and the bed was quite comfy. The only problem was the curtain was thin and let through a lot of street light, so it'd be good if the room had thicker curtains. Overall though, I recommend this hostel!

Roots Hostel has friendly staffs and the place is clean. The bathrooms have bidets and the rooms are well maintained. The shower room is also clean and they provide shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. There's also a Lawson convenience store just a block away if you need to buy food and other necessities. Roots Hostel also has a good menu if you want to try their restaurant downstairs.

It's OK to stay at this place
I stayed at Roots one night only. However, I have a couple things I concerned which are the smell of takoyaki restaurant on 1st and Staff couldn't recommend sushi place around the hostel. At least they should have tried to search further for information.

I thik this is more hotels.com's fault. we never knew this is a bedroom without bath! hotels.com did not say that. we paid over $100 for a double bed room, there is nothing in that room except two beds. No nigh-stand even, no TV, nothing. Unbelievable. The bath for Male is on a different floor! it was the worst experience ever... this is a very typical low-cost thing for young travelers, but with this expense, over $100, I enver thought we will get a room like this.

Bugs. But cheap
Staff were friendly. But the room setting was weird where there’s no women restroom located in a floor with 2 female dorms. The bed probably have some bugs because I got bit 3 times over the night. Although I did use 2 blankets. Room was small where the luggages is hard to fit. Great location with decent food downstairs. I would have think twice before coming here because of the bugs

本町駅の中央線四つ橋線ホームからは近いですが、御堂筋線のホームからは少し歩きます。飲食店はパラパラとしかない印象ですが、周囲にコンビニが多く、また1Fのカフェ&Barのメニューが充実しているので食事には困りません。予想以上にシャワールームが充実してました。ドミトリーの2段ベッド上段はちょっと天井までの高さが低く、ベッド上での居心地はイマイチですが、寝てしまえばなんてことはないです。

Dirtiest and smelliest hostel I've ever seen
This is one of the most disgusting hostels I've ever seen. Everything smells horrible and there's dust and dirty everywhere you look. I read some bad reviews and thought \"how bad can it really be?\". It turns out it's really that bad. I tried to talk to the staff about leaving earlier because I really didn't feel comfortable there but I would have gotten no refund so I endured it and stayed for 5 nights. I've been traveling full-time for 5 months and this was by far the worst hostel I've seen.

ホテル入口付近に喫煙する場所があり、ドアを開けっぱなしのため1階は非常にタバコ臭い。ホテル内は禁煙だが、ドアが開けっぱなしでタバコの煙が入ってくるためとても禁煙とは思えないホテル。1階のトイレの鍵は壊れていて閉まらない。ロッカーは小さい財布が入るくらいの大きさでキャリーケースを置く大きなロッカーは無し。シャワー室内に鏡無し。手洗い場には鏡はあるがティッシュは無い(ドライヤーはある)ベッドのシーツや枕カバーは客が敷かなければならない。布団が臭い。ベッド横のカーテンはボロボロでカーテンの意味無し。トイレやシャワールームが汚い。定期的に掃除してるとは思えない。夜になると1階は更にうるさくなる(居酒屋だから仕方がないけど)あと1番不満だったのはチェックインしてるのに外国人？の従業員に何回もチェックインしてるか聞かれたこと。オリックス劇場から近くて宿泊料金が安いのはいいけど、もう二度と泊まりたくないです。

주변이 여러회사가 있는 비즈니스거리 이기때문에 조용한 편입니다 근방에 공원이 있어서 더 그런거같네요 주변에 관광객들이 잘없는 식당들도 있고 생각보다 맛있기때문에 숙소근처에서 한번쯤 드시는것도 다쁘지않다고 생각합니다.
구글맵으로는 요스바시선 신사이바시에서 내려서 걸어가거나 미도스지선을 타고 혼마치에서 내리라고하지만 무조건 요스바시선 혼마치 23번출구로 나가서 살살 걸어가는걸 추천합니다
신사이바시에서 내리면 한참 걸어야되고 미도스지선 혼마치로 가면 캐리어 질질끌고 계단 오르락 내리락하며(엘리베이터나 에스컬레이터 없는구간이 있음) 한참 걸어야하는 대참사가 날수있으니 되도록이면 짐많으면 상대적으로 캐리어끌기 쉬운 난바에서 요츠바시선을 탑시다.
침대구성은 1자형 복도에 좌우로 2층침대가 있는 구조이고 복도기준 세로배치가 아닌 가로배치가되어있습니다. 침대 사이사이에 캐리어를 보관 할 수 있는 개인공간이 있습니다만 짐을 정리하기에는 굉장히 좁아서 도미토리방 밖 엘리베이터 있는 공간에서 하시거나 침대에 올려놓고 하시던데 저는 캐리어 두는공간이 창가쪽이어서 공간이 조금더 여유가있었기에 그쪽에서 했습니다.
엘레베이터속도는 호스텔이나 일본의 약간 오래된 건물에있는 엘레베이터는 꽤나 답답한속도인데 생각보다 굉장히 빨라서 답답하지않았습니다.
스태프 분들도 질문하면 잘 답변해주시고 친절했습니다. 한국어 가능하신 스탭도 계시긴 했는데 기초적인것들만 가능하신거 같았어요.
1층에 간단한 요기가 가능한 식당이 있어서 냄새가 많이 난다는 리뷰도 있었는데 첫날빼고는 숙소들어가는데 냄새가 많이난다 라고 할정도는 아니였네요
1층에서 파는 음식들은 본격적으로 저녁거리로 먹는다는 느낌보다는 술과 곁들여 먹기 좋은 음식들로 구성되어있습니다 밥은 없었던걸로 기억해요 타코야끼, 돼지고기계란말이, 감자후라이 이런종류였어요 주류는 맥주나 위스키하이볼 일본주같은것들을 판매하고있었어요

１階フロントがカフェで喫煙可能なのでタバコの煙や臭いがすごく嫌でした。カフェのテーブルは24時間使えてテイクアウトしたものを食べたりできるのですが、タバコを吸われると喘息持ちな事もあり辛いので速攻で退散しました。フロアの廊下も階段のドアが開けっぱなしなので下からカフェのタバコや調理をする臭いが上がってきてかなり臭かったです。通っただけでも服や髪にニオイがつきそうで。ホテルへの出入りは必ずカフェを通らなければならないのでタバコ吸ってませんようにと祈るばかりでした。せめて禁煙にして欲しい。後はスタッフさんは親切だし安いし便利な場所だし言う事ないのですがタバコ嫌いにはそこだけがちょっと嫌な点でした。
