Travelled with my wife and 2 children, and stayed in the junior suite. It was great value for money, plenty of space with 2 made up (comfortable) single beds and in our room a bonus of 2 toilets! Breakfast had a great variety and to top off was only 7-10 minutes from 2 different metro stations for quick access to the centre. Parking was also secure, gated off underground)

My first solo holiday abroad by myself so I was very anxious the hotel was very easy to get to and they helped to organise a hotel transfer e.c.t. Some staff were more helpful/welcoming than others/recommending of facilities in the hotel e.c.t. but it felt safe was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast is highly recommended. The room was simple but very nice and the gardens were well kept. The décor was fabulous and if I was to stay in Rome again I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Hotel Fenix.

This hotel is a 2-star hotel. Having it listed as 4 is a FAR stretch. The staff was pleasant and welcoming. Metro and bus within 10 min walk.

The hotel is old and in need of major updates inside/out It is located on the corner of a busy street close to the hospital, so you hear ambulances with their sirens on every 15 min.

Rooms are dated with dirty closet doors and wallpaper. Roms are very dark with just 2 nightstand lights working. The bathroom was OK but tight. The heater / AC did not work.

The area around the hotel is unattractive, with limited restaurants, and very dirty streets ( much like the rest of Rome) I would not recommend this hotel.

I will start with the Positive. We liked that the property was in a quiet area away from the noise and crowds of Rome. The Breakfast was a 10/10. The Metro (subway) was a little further walk than expected - but very manageable. Now the Negative - NOT a 4 star hotel - rating the hotel at 2.5 would be closer to reality we were in room 405, the shower tile was partly missing in certain areas, mold/mildew in the shower area. The mattress was the worst mattress we have ever slept on. The pillows were so bad that we ended up using our own neck pillows we brought for the plane ride. It was doable as we are not 5 star resort type people - but after we stayed in 3 other accommodations with a similar 4 star review - it was clear as day this was 2.5 stars at best.

We arrived much later than planned as flight very delayed.
Welcome from front desk was average.
The room I stayed in was ok, nice crisp linen.
The bathroom was very tiny & very tired.
I was charged €4 for a bottle of water that came from kitchen not my mini bar.
Totally overpriced for a guess of hotel.

Breakfast was average.
No catering for vegan( someone travelling with me).
No iron was available in room so asked at reception but was told none available.
Wanted to charge me €5 to iron a T-shirt.

Too far from the centre to walk, but very close to wonderful restaurants and cafes, so no need to go far in the evenings. The rooms are a little tired now, and could do with an investment, but were all clean, and the air-con worked wonderfully! Breakfast was really good, all the staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a wonderful few days here. Thank you to all the staff!

The hotel is advertised as 4 star but it is definitely not 4 star.
Rooms are much smaller, photos on website are deceiving.
Some of the reception staff (during day time) was good but at night they weren’t very helpful. Our simple request for ice was ignored by reception staff despite requesting in person and offering to take it to room. They told us they will deliver it our room but it was never delivered.
Cleaning staff did not replenish basic amenities, we had to go downstairs and request for things.
The hotel is not centrally located and is approximately 15 minute bus ride to central Roma.

Breakfast in the hotel is good, and staff serving breakfast is helpful and pleasant.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Fenix for 4 nights in a lovely junior suite. The property is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, a short distance from Rome’s city center. The staff were wonderful and accommodating, and the room (with a smaller separate room with a day bed and antique writing desk and sitting table for tea service) was quite comfortable. I loved everything about my stay there. Particularly the breakfast, which was plentiful and had many options (hot and cold). I will reflect fondly on my time in Rome, because of my stay at the Hotel Fenix.

I would stay here again.

Lovely and charming hotel with a first-class personal touch. Breakfasts are included and they are exquisite. Something for everyone. There is a peaceful courtyard surrounded by trees to have cocktails or cappuccino's. They do have their own bar. There are close shops down the road, all having that Italian flair. Staff was accommodating and friendly. I am very happy with this choice of Hotel and would stay there again.

Clean comfortable hotel on a primarily residential type Street. Close to the city bus which made it even easier to get into town. There are a few restaurants, little markets, and gelato shops within walking distance. The staff was extremely nice. No shower doors or curtains, which seems to be typical of my experience in non-american venues. It results in an extremely wet floor which is a severe slip hazard due to the shiny tiles on the floor. Breakfast buffet was very adequate, we walked away full and satisfied every morning.

This is a great hotel in a quiet and upscale neighborhood in Rome. The staff explained how to get to the sites in Rome via public transportation. We, however, decided to walk do we could really get a feel for Rome. The breakfast was fine. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff made great recommendations for places to eat. I enjoyed the hotel and its location.

Boutique hotel, with some lovely antiques and shabby chic decor. Very clean. Certain areas in the room could do with coat of fresh paint though. Bidet and bath in the bathroom. Ambient air conditioning. Balcony and Lovely garden.
Posh and safe area, due to close proximity of several embassies. Some nice restaurants nearby, including amazing Shibuya with spectacular sushi.
No kettles or drinks machine in the rooms though. We found that daily supply of water in the mini bar (2 sparkling and 2 still 500 ml bottles) was not free, because we were charged for them at €8 a day on final bill. Shame this was not made clear when checking in. Also final bill included €12 a day per double occupancy city tax, so please be aware. Breakfast was really nice, with good selection.
Staff is lovely and attentive. I dropped diamond stackable rings in the garden (gesticulating and hand cream equals disaster) and reception delegated 6 members of staff to canvass the decking and bushes. I thought they fell inside the patio decking and completely lost any hope to recover them. I went to inform the reception, not really expecting much, but my rings were found and I was absolutely delighted as I did not expect to see them again.
We walked or took bus 82 or 66 to city centre. Bus stop on Via Nomentana right outside hotel. If you are adept at walking in the city, you can get pretty much anywhere within 1 hour. And if walking Via Nomentana, don’t forget visiting amazing Gelateria near Paganini Park.

Fits the budget, here's why:

The hotel is not in the city center. We had to pay for a cab each time we when on our tour about 20€. One iron for the whole entire hotel. The elevator does not go to the 5th floor where our room was. So we had to drag our bags up and down a full flight of stairs. The elevator is ancient and does not have a motion sensor, so it will shut when the button is pressed; Stand clear! Rooms are really small and out-dated but comfy. The staff were nice and accommodating. Hot water is great.

This Hotel is a bargain in Rome. Ask for room 43, as it is very quiet, has AC, and a queen size bed. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the Breakfast selection is fantastic. Wifi internet speed is 40 megabits. Couldn't be happier with this Hotel and have stayed there at least 5 times in the last 5 years. The bathroom shower is very nice (a little small, but I'm not that big). The Room has a small refrigerator where you can store things. CNN International and other English speaking channels on a flat screen TV. Very clean. Very close to a bus stop that takes you to/from Termini Train Station (where you can get the Train to Fiumicino Airport which is only 30 minutes away) or anywhere in central Rome quickly. You can walk to the Metro in 10 minutes from the Hotel.

Great Find in A Great Location

We loved our stay at the Fenix Hotel. The neighborhood was great. It was a 10 minute walk from the San. Agnesse Metro stop. There is a great restaurant near Fenix called \"Pepe Verde\" that we ate at many times. The breakfast at the Fenix was the best of any hotel I have ever stayed at. They also have gluten and dairy free options. The staff was helpful. The hotel has a connection to a local shuttle service that only charges 50 euro to pick you up at the FCO airport and bring you to the hotel. Such a great deal. I would stay here again.

Amazing! I would stay again!!

Hotel Fenix was amazing! I was originally planning to stay three nights (because committing to a hotel before you know what you're getting into is scary) but extended my stay an additional three nights for the duration of my trip in Rome. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I loved the quaint vintage, yet modern, vibe of the hotel. It was very comfortable and had everything I needed in a hotel. I know air conditioning lacks in many European hotels, but Hotel Fenix has a wall air conditioning unit that kept me very comfortable in the hot weather. I loved the overall experience, and my favorite part was breakfast in their \"garden\" (similar to a courtyard). There were a few occasions I could smell cigarette smoke in my room, even though it's a nonsmoking hotel. Not sure if this was from a neighboring room or outside. Not a big deal as I didn't bring it up to the staff.

It is a bit of a trek to the city center via the route I took (i.e. St. Peter's Square, etc.) and I always took the \"scenic route\" on the bus to get there, which sometimes could take almost an hour because the stop by the hotel and the stop by St. Peter's Square were on opposite ends of the route. There are shorter ways, but I chose this method because it was easy. By taxi, getting to the city center is only 10-20 minutes depending on traffic and destination, so still close!! If you stay here, visit the nearby gelato sho, Gutilla!!

Here for a meeting nearby. The hotel is a bit of a schlep from most tourist sites. We took the bus or the metro into town. Bus station is 1 minute. Metro is less than 10. Easily accessible so no complaints.

The hotel is a nice property. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. The room was spacious cut the bathroom was tiny. Why do hotels never clean those shower heads. Hard to get water out of stopped up holes. Very comfy bed and linens. Breakfast was barely mediocre. They say it lasts till 10 but by they no longer replenished anything. The front desk staff recommended two great restaurants which is really appreciated. Plus they have bus tickets as well. Unless they run out!

All in all a nice stay for a good price.

We could not be happier with our stay at the Fenix Hotel. Our room was spacious, the amenities were great and they even provide a fabulous breakfast buffet for FREE! This hotel is also 500m away from the local metro, which is a quick and convenient ride to all the major attractions in Rome, such as the Colleseum and the Vatican. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!!!

8-minute walk to closest Metro

We stayed here for 3 nights from our road trip. There was parking at the hotel, which is why we chose this place. You can choose to park in their parking garage for about 20€ per day -- I don't remember the exact amount. The reason is because we chose to park on the side of the road in front of the hotel, which added up to be about 16€ for the entirety of our stay. The staff spoke Italian, English, and French from what we heard in the lobby. They have free city maps available. We really loved that the closest metro into the main part of Rome was only an 8-minute walk from the hotel. Remember that the metro runs from 5:30am-11:30pm during the week, and until 12:30am on Saturdays. The bed was a bit hard to sleep on, but other than that, the room was very comfortable. The housekeeping service did a very good job cleaning every day. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Incredibly nice hotel

I have stayed in quite a few budget hotels in Rome, and this is by far the loveliest. My room couldn't have been nicer, and the staff were so accommodating. Strolling around the area and seeing so many locals gave me the impression that this wasn't a touristy area, but more authentic. I especially enjoyed being able to walk a few blocks to two stunning parks, and being a short taxi ride (7-9 euro) away from main attractions. Beware if you walk from the Nomentana train stop - it was about 30 minutes. Not terrible, but with luggage it was a bit too much.

Fantastic Hotel

This hotel is a great place to stay as the staff treat you as an individual and any problem is attended to straight away. The staff go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff to attend to a persons needs. I will definitely will be returning to this hotel again when I return to Rome. Plus, the staff acknowledge you of a morning when you go down to breakfast. What a treat.

30 minutes walk to the city

We stayed for 4 nights in this typical 4 star Italian hotel, 30 mins flat walk from Termini station . The staff pleasant & helpful.
Our room on the 4th floor over looking the main road, not a problem with road noise with triple glazing, the standard double room was clean and in good decorative order. King sized bed, very comfortable with choice of pillows. No kettle or tea making facilities. No iron or trouser press but did have an expensive laundry service. Flat screen TV with mainly Italian channels. Shower over bath with plenty of hot water, small tube of shampoo & shower gel ( enough for 2 showers & replenished on the 3rd day) small soap. Lovely soft big towels, changed each day.
A really nice Continental buffet breakfast, cereals, pastries, ham, cheese, breads, yogurt, fruit & lovely scrambled eggs, coffee & teas.
A 6 Euros tax payment per person each night stayed. ( 1 or 2 star hotels is 3 euros) Bit of a shock, but has to be paid. Also any phone calls, even to reception will be charged for, also the bottles of water in the good sized fridge cost 2 euros each. There is a supermarket along the road. Bus stop outside hotel, bus 90 to Termini & 82 back, cost 1.50 euros for one trip, but need to buy a ticket first from the many tabboc's dotted around. A few cafes, shops, restaurant's just a few mins walk along the road.
A pleasant hotel, popular with the Italian's, has a lot of little cosy areas in & outside to sit.
