very dirty place outside, noisy, young men by the entrance begging for money and even threated my local friend. We called for the manager, with no any help. On pictures interior looks very different than in reality.

Riad itself is nice. The staff were great. Helped with parking. Felt overpriced for food and water. If you have hired a car then this is a very difficult place to get in and get out. Mad traffic and people always trying to get money off you in the name of helping.

I only stopped by for odd hours at the property, from 11 at night to 6 in the morning, so I didn't get to enjoy the food if it was offered, but the beds were comfortable and climate-controlled. The staff were very patient with my needs and arranged taxis for which I could pay with card - helpful after I'd run out of Dihrams. The staff were very helpful, polite and amenable, but the place is awkward to find (the initial link on Expedia didn't send me to the correct address), and had I not been on a motorcycle to find the place initially it would have been a long, difficult slog across the souk. I didn't get a chance to try out the showers or pool either, so I can't speak to those, but I wouldn't say no to staying again.

Amazing Experience!

Absolutely amazing experience! My partner and I stayed here for a week and we didn’t want to leave. The room was very clean and beautifully decorated, and the AC was a lifesaver on hot days. The Riad itself is stunning and we loved the breakfast that was served every morning. The best part however, was the staff. They are all incredibly kind and thoughtful, always asked how we were doing and made sure that we were enjoying ourselves. We’ve never met a more attentive staff in a hotel before. We highly recommend stay here!

We had a luxury room on the main floor with a padlock and old iron deadbolts for security. .
As we prepared for bed, I turned out the light on the bedside table and received a 220 volt shock through my arm. I unplugged it carefully. The manager said shocks happen and he will rewire it later. No compensation offered.
This Riad is also a long way from any roads and the area is not busy so arrive early (before nightfall).
The next morning at about 6 am two guests from Spain were having a loud argument beside the window of our room and the employee, by way of explanation, said Spanish women are loud. He didn't ask them to keep it down.
It is a 15 minute walk to the big square of Marrakech.

Riad Laora is a lovely, comfortable and calm place to come back to after the business of Marrakech. We both felt extremely well looked after and nothing was too much to ask! The staff were all amazing especially khalid and idris and all of the amazing women that cleaned our room everyday. We had a lovely home cooked meal on our first night after our flight which was greatly appreciated! The terrace was a highlight for us, because we could relax and enjoy the sunshine in peace.

Peaceful but uncomfortable

The guys working at the riad were very helpful; specially when we had to go for our 3 day safari early morning.. Mohammad woke up early and prepared some breakfast for us even though breakfast timings were hours later. That was very sweet.
What we didn't like was the fact that the towels were worne and torn with marks on them and there were barely any amenities provided (small soap, no shower holder). Laundry also has to be done by giving it to someone outside the hotel.

Très bien situé, à peine 10mn d dla place Jamaâ el Fna à pied, et parking sous surveillance à 3mn à pied. Par contre un peu galère avec les petites ruelles pour arriver au riad, faire attention. 5 hours In Marrakesh.

This is a type of room for those interested in experiencing Moroccan living inside of the old city. No cars can drive through the old city. The driver calls the Riad and you are picked up outside of the city walls. My wife was not comfortable with the accommodation, but even though we were only there for 5 Hours, we both got some really good sleep. This Place Is Definitely Not For The Spoiled And In Need Of Pampering. Host Was Extremely Pleasant And Helpful..

Unique that the place traditional and well kept. Only downside was there was lack of help or support from the owner as I believe, it was his first unexpected encounter with young guests or of coloured race.

Compared with the elderly guest you can sense an elephant in the room, vibe wasn’t there. No effort of interacting or giving help, attitude towards us was not something you want to receive.

But in terms of the property, it’s a lovely place to stay with breakfast included, any extras inccur charges. Best to bring extra (toiletries/drinks/food bites) because there’s nothing around the location of decent food unless you’re willing to travel to new city all the time

On the plus side: this riad is centrally located, clean, and stylishly decorated. There are no coffee making facilities but the reservation includes a generous breakfast. On the minus side, the comfort in our room left somewhat to be desired. The shower tray did not drain properly – our showers were limited to two minutes before it was full to the brim. The sink did not drain properly either. The bedside lights were not nearly bright enough. The loudspeaker in the nearby mosque, on the other hand, is fully operational as all the guests were able to verify early in the morning. One final thought: on our arrival, as I was telling the man at the reception that I had lost money to pickpockets on the way (that was probably my fault for not being on guard), he asked us for 8 euros as \"taxe de séjour\". I was surprised because there were three of us and I could not how this could be divided by three. Looking at the reservation later that evening, I saw that the tax was €2.50 per person. Being overcharged 50 cents is not the end of the world. But you want your riad to be a shelter from Marrakech's constant attempts to part tourists from their money, not to add to them.

It is a small clean riad.very helpful and friendly staff. pre book your transport from airport to hotel through the hotel .We had a bad experience with airport taxi who dropped us 100 meters away and charged us £20. The continental breakfast was nice and varies daily.Conveniently located to the main squire and the market with plenty of restaurants
Can be noisy especially when the female receptionists and the staff chat continuously. But it is a very clean charming place.

It is a small Riad.Very conveniently located to the main square and shopping. Friendly and helpful staff . Clean and provided a good continental type breakfast. Very advisable to pre pre book a taxi from the airport through the hotel.We were dropped 100 meters away from an airport taxi and it was a frightening experience. Place could be noisy at times especially because the staff and the female receptionists can chatter so much.

Nice riad with clean, comfortable rooms. Very cold at night but an extra blanket was provided. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ate a delicious meal there on our first night. Pleasant roof terrace. Says there’s a bar in Expedia. There is a small one on the terrace but it’s not stocked. Would recommend.

I had so many issues with this property. There was a group of guys that were always standing outside this Riad and they stole my wallet 1 night out of my purse as I walked to the Riad door. The Riad's manager refused to call police and said that it was my fault for leaving my bag unzipped.

The first room I checked in had a horrible sewage smell, they gave us another room after we complained.

There are no eggs in breakfast, if you want eggs its extra 5 euros

You are not allowed to bring food from outside and eat in the lounge

I had other friends staying in other Riad's and they did not have any of these issues

Clean and tranquil Riad. 10-15 minute walk to Jamma El Fnna, Palace, Museums and Souks. Hassan and Abdul were very friendly and helpful hosts (i think i got there names right). We had a home cooked traditional Moroccan meal one evening, which was superb and we would of liked the recipe but forgot to ask. The room we had was clean and very pretty and thankfully had air conditioning as temperatures reached 36 degrees. There is a small pool you can sit by in the evening and cool your feet or sit on the terrace. I would definitely recommend this Riad to anyone who want's to visit Marrakesh

It was easy to find and close to the market square. Technically it has a pool but it’s not big enough to swim in, it’s more like a bathtub and it’s off placement isn’t very inticing. Nice little Riad but in a bad area

The Riad itself was very nice, a little safe haven to escape the chaos. Breakfast was reasonable and the rooms were cosy. My main problem was the location. The Riad is in a rough area, my partner (female) was subject to constant harassment and abuse in the few thin and dark alleyways leading to the Riad even though she was always well covered and respectful. We didn’t get this to the same extent in the other parts of the medina, it was disconcerting and made us not want to return late at night, for fear of what would happen next.

Lovely Riad but a few issues that spoiled the stay

Such a great Riad, wish the staff would read the reviews and learn that uk visitors like costs to be transparent. I’d have appreciated a written statement of fees and costs incurred, felt like they were making it up as they go along, seeing what they could get out of us. I was asked for money late on our last night, I had none left, i was tired and had an early flight, I felt annoyed and stressed, not want you want on holiday, such a shame.

Great Staff. Needs Maintenance.

We stayed for two nights. The staff were friendly, warm and accommodating, and I would give them 5 stars. The hotel is in an old part of town. My opinion is that It is not in a good location or part of town. Parking is only about 2-3 blocks away. If I was by myself I would feel scared. But when you step inside the Riad it is cozy and feels secure. It is decorated lovely in the common areas and the room itself. I love the attention to little details. The room is nice but a little dark with no way to brighten it without fully opening the blinds to the walkway to other rooms. I give this a 3 star because of the location, the difficulty in finding it along with a few problems in the room itself. Two nights in a row we had to hire locals to guide us back to our parking because google maps misguided us to roads and alley ways that could never be roads or get us back. My issue in the room was the door was super difficult to lock and unlock as the sliding bolt was off on alignment. It was cold, and our heater did not work. And there was a drainage problem. The bathroom sink filled quickly and drained slowly. In the shower it’s ok that there is no door, because there is a lip of maybe 2.5 inches so water doesn’t get on the bathroom floor. But on our last day, water from the shower overflowed over the lip and all over the bathroom floor. If you stay I recommend parking your car and taking taxis out, especially at night. Riads are not for everyone.

Friendly, traditional Riad in good Medina location

Having read lots of reviews before I booked, this Riad met all my expectations. Within minutes of booking I received an email from the Riad welcoming me and offering various services - I would recommend taking up their offer of airport taxi transfer as they know the exact location of the Riad! It is in the heart of the medina but set back so that it is in a quieter street. We stayed in the Turquoise room which is very pretty and to my mind the whole Riad is very traditional and immediately feels authentic. We had two meals there, both of which were 3-courses, again very traditional food which was exactly what we wanted - to experience Marrakech. Lovely food prepared by a smiley lady (doesnt speak English) but always tried to please. I have read that some found the breakfast boring, again it is traditional sweet breakfast which filled us up and we enjoyed the Moroccan tea. We always had breakfast on the rooftop in the sun but others took breakfast in the courtyard and they accommodated both requests.Wifi was available and we never had any problems with it. Hassan looked after us very well, recommending certain tours which suited us perfectly and were cheaper than booking in advance. When I asked about booking a massage he sorted it out for mnd also recommended places to eat - a great host and a great asset for the Riad. If you are looking for a traditional, authentic experience that is great value for money then this Riad will suit you. I would definitely recommend.

Although the hotel was lovely & the staff were all great, specially Semiera who was great on our first day there & organised a lot excursions for us, I wouldn't stay there again because of the noise.

The Hotel is right next to a mosque, its a muslim country you are visiting its expected after all & at 5.30am the call to prayers starts, that cannot be avoided regardless.

What the hotel doesn't seem to appreciate is the bolt & heavy doors on all the rooms are extremely loud & noisy every time they are opened & closed, rooms all look on to the courtyard & everytime someone opened or closed their door you were woken up.

To enter the Hotel you had to ring the door bell, again more noise, as other guests & came all hours of day & night, including at 3am to go to the airport,you had dragging of their suitcase on the court yard & down the steps ( there are no lifts int he hotel)

on our last night we were leaving at 3am & went to bed at 9pm. at 10pm I was woken up by loud music from the room opposite us, young girl decided that everyone wanted to hear her music so had it on as loud as possible. I waited for the night porter to go & say something to her but after 15 minutes I'd had enough& went & told her myself- which she did reluctantly..

The point I'm making about noise, is that, there is enough noise from the outside & without a good night rest in any hotel you cannot enjoy your holiday without a good nights rest.

A short stay in Marrakech

The hotel is located in th old city, where cars can’t reach easily the hotel (we were dropped over 1 KM away because taxi driver couldn’t take us to the hotel). The hotel is cozy and clean. The rooms are a bit small but beautifully furnished. It is great value for money. The bathroom is big with traditional Moroccan style with orange colors.

Beautiful, spacious Riad close to Jma El Fena

I had a lovely stay at Riad Laora. It is very spacious! With lots of communal areas so you meet lots of the other guests if you would like to. There is sun loungers on the roof with nothing blocking the sun. The staff were amazing - the ladies who work there are friendly and lovely - especially Aziza. Abdul the manager is very attentive and kind - and really helped me when I was unfortunately sick during my stay!! He helped me to a pharmacy and bought me yoghurt and always checked if I was okay. Hassan makes you feel very welcome from the minute you walk in and gives you a great briefing for your stay! Hassan and Abdul both have great sense of humours and it was a pleasure to meet them! It is about a 10 minute walk (approx.- normally distracted looking around whilst walking! :) ) to the Jema El Fena square - once you know your way there and back once- then it is easy to find. The rooms are lovely and very morocco and are cleaned nicely every day. If I went back to Marrakech I would definitely stay again!

The hotel is a short ten minute walk to the Jana el fana square which is the heart of all the activities. Staff are polite and rooms clean. The breakfast is very basic and the pool is actually a dipping pool and not swimming pool. The terrace is lovely.

Nice place but it has some minor issues.

Rooms are comfortable and clean. Shower and bathroom sink kept backing up. We reported it but staff did not do anything. Breakfast was just bread, jam and coffee/tea so you will need to plan your meals ahead. Staff seemed a bit protective of property. There are several rules on where to eat and they follow you around a bit. I'm not sure if this a service thing or not but other riads did not do this. Staff was helpful with questions and taxis. Property is next to mosque so you will hear the call to prayer. Overall the property was ok.

I enjoyed the Riad, its terrace and the friendly staff, but I didn't like the surroundings. The medina alleyways were under construction and extremely noisy and crowded. Also the prayers on speakers woke me up at 5:00am.

Beware of booking taxis through hotel staff

The staff was ok, the lady was very kind. The riad is lovely inside and rooms are good. However, if you are travelling as only women I wouldnt recommend that location as you wont be left alone on your way/from Riad as annoying boys in front of the riad would beg you for money and stare at you making inappropriate comments. After sharing our bad experience with the hotel staff about the location and taxi drivers who overcharged us which they said they said they felt sorry aboutit however we only found out on third day that hotel charges us triple/ fourth times of the taxi fare so they can keep commission. Therefore do not book taxis/transfer through this hotel as they make you pay them the full amount(and only give 30%to taxi driver which is the actual rate) rip you off to make their own money. Instead do order 'green taxi' which seems to be the legal taxis with meters in Marrakech. Apart from these our stay was nice.

Nice enough but we couldn't stay..

We had a lovely welcome and friendly intro to the riad. We spent our days mostly out in the medina but also on the riads excursions and on their pretty expensive in house drinks (it's not the ritz so 2€ a coke is a bit much!). Despite this on our third day we decided that we'd relax on the rooftop with a bottle of water and some crisps in the sunshine only to hear arguing coming from the managers office opposite. Following this one staff member comes out and tells us we can't have our own water and food here and instead must only purchase theirs! This was a step too far for us. After telling us 'our house is your house' then stopping us drinking our own water was money grabbing going too far. So we went to a hotel and enjoyed the rest of our stay doing as we pleased.

Clean, traditional riad near main square

This is my first time in a riad as I wanted to experience this more \"communal\" style of hotel. I conclude that riads are not for me. This is not reflective of this riad but just the riad style in general. The door and windows all open out onto a central courtyard and guests walk past your windows to access their room. Hence the lack of privacy or quietness as they chatter going past, often v early in the morning. Riad Laora is a beautiful traditionally styled place. Lots of antique style wood furniture in rooms, my suite was large and had a sitting areas with sofa but it creaked very loudly every time I moved - annoying and I feared disturbing other guests with the creaks. My four poster wooden bed looked fabulous and was comfortable (no creaks !). Heater was not strong enough to warm the room fully in Winter. Bathroom was again traditional and colourfully decorated but fully functional. Shower head was broken so sprayed water everywhere as no shower curtain around huge bath and it was a hand held only style. Was greeted wonderfully by the young man on arrival and given mint tea as a welcome and a long chat, his advice on where and when to go to places was accurate and very helpful. He chatted with everyone each day so we felt very welcomed. Negative was the 5.30am call to prayers by street megaphone abruptly waking me (typical of the Medina however) and the loud noises from courtyard at 7.15am as breakfast was prepared and guests gather and talk loudly echoing throughout

Great Riad just off the souks

Great clean Riad in the Medina an easy walk to everything but just off the main thoroughfares. Staff is very friendly and accommodating great place to stay. Hassan the manager was excellent as was Abdul.

Lovely riad, great staff

Lovely riad 15 minutes from the Djam Al Fana.
Great rooms, brilliant breakfast and really helpful staff.
A big thank you to Aziz, who went above and beyond in terms of service.

Nice pictures but the rest.............!

Our transit did not come to the airport and wee must wait and find another way to get to the hotel. The problem was to find the way!
When we came to hotel it was cold inside and a very bad welcome from the manager,
We stay four nights and every time we was out it were almost inpossible to find the hotel. No map or any information about what to see in the town, When we ask for anything they do not have or understand, very bad.
If we ask for a cake to coffe, they do not have. A place where we do not stay again and do not rekomend!
You had to talk very low, everything you said they here for the loudness.

Fabulous!

The staff genuinely cared about my happiness and comfort. The manager Asan helped me book a tour and he exchanged money for me when I ran out of Moroccan currency. He was conversational and friendly. His interactions with me and other guests were sincere; he really did care. Great place to stay in the Old Town Medina. Easy walking distance to Big Square through Old Town. Rooms are comfortable with private bathrooms. Highly recommended.

Fabulous riad close to everywhere.

5 days of bliss in a traditional morrocan riad close to all souks and medina. V hospitable staff, fabulous breakfast and evening meal and wine if required. Will defo return. 10 out of 10. Great value for money.

Never got to stay

I was there with my fiancé that is Moroccan and was denied to stay there with him.
We even got a paper from police stating out situation. And still denied my stay.

Lovely Riad and staff are very helpful. Easy to get to the main sites and find your way back. Only drawbacks are that it is chilly in the evenings in the winter so take warm clothes but that is probably true of all Riads . Also located next to a Mosque so the early morning call to prayer is very noticeable

. Staying at Riad Laora have been a special experience. It is a small place and you are closer to real moroccans...... I had a very good connection specially with Aziza and Abdou. Nice stay really.

Very nice traditional Riad

Very nice traditional Riad with friendly staff. Hassan was great at giving us guidance for things to do. We had a fantastic meal in the Riad on the first night and enjoyed relaxing after a days exploring on the roof terrace. Room was very comfortable and the Riad was easy to find (relatively speaking for Marakesh!). Highly recommended.

Hotel comfort and luxury at hostel prices

Amazing staff, very courteous and accommodating. Clean and comfortable rooms, though the Medina does come with a bit of dusty atmosphere.
The owner, Hassan, always met us with a smile and was helpful in answering any travel related questions.
The walk through one of the main streets of Medina made the place more special. Had an awesome time. Would recommend it to anyone going to Marrakech....hostel prices and hotel comfort

Beautiful Morrocco. Cheap B&B no frills.

Tense trip. Rude email before I arrived about money. Thought it was just a lost in translation moment but actually it's the culture & the owners attitude. Quick to anger. The Riad advertises a pool, spa, safety deposit boxes, restaurant & bar. It has NONE of these things - it has 7 rooms, 2 sunbeds on a roof, few chairs too, a kitchen with a fridge. Coke out the fridge is charged at restaurant prices and you are not allowed to bring in your own - not even water. Cook makes food in morning and leaves for guests at restaurant prices but you have to order in advance as there is no-one there in evenings to cook so had to go out every night - hard with children. They have a high turnover of staff and 1 left when I was there & replaced with non English speaking boy who smiled a lot and said no sorry to everything. Really a B&B but traditional and pretty. Morroccan style is fabulous. The manager spends most her time stressing, bossing and barking orders even when she is not there it is all by phone & constantly wants to talk to you. Spent way more than intended due to the overcharging of everything in The Riad and nothing for kids to do there. Only advice was things they can make money on when actually there are some amazing things nearby that they didn't know about like The Amal institute, jardin Marjorelle YSL's memorial and The Waterpark. We had an amazing holiday but could have been better. Hotels.com should have placed us elsewhere or sorted the listing of the place.

Nice hotel close to everything

My experience here was really lovely. Everyone working in the Riad was so lovely and we have made amazing friends with them. The riad is really quiet and tranquil so the stay was even more relaxing and nice. You can also get transitional food here and breakfast everyday which was an amazing start to the day. Hammam and massage is available on request. I will definitely coming back.

Had a very good stay at the Riad. Felt at home. Service was very good and they looked after us really well. Good location, only 10-15mins away from the main square and ideal place to stay in the old medina to get a good feel of the area and Marrakech :)

Lovely courtyard, peaceful pleasant rooms, very helpful staff. We came and went as we pleased, but were always well catered for when dropping back for a break from the hussle and bussle. They made us a tasty Morrocan meal for my birthday which we enjoyed on the roof terrace, finished with home made chocolate cake

Traditional Marrakech

This was a truly beautiful traditional riad in the heart of marrakech's medina. We travelled as two friends. The riad is located in an alley which some visitors may find intimidating if on a first visit to the city, however it is well worth a stay to discover the magic behind the riad's door. We found it relaxing, authentic and we wanted to stay as close to the 'real' marrakech as possible. If you want to absorb the culture and hospitality of marrakech stay at Riad Laora if you want a holiday in the sun stay in one of the amazing resorts further from the medina. I know which I would return to... Riad Laora

Nice hotel but not much facilities

The staff were really friendly and hospitable. The decor of the hotel was really nice and they kept everything really clean.

The negatives I would say is that they don't have tv in the room. We had a little toddler with us and when we were at the room he didn't have anything to do or watch.

They don't have tea, coffee making facilities in the room. So if I wanted any tea or coffe I had to wait a long time. Also the sound proofing is really bad. If your In your room at around 10 at night or wake up early you had to whisper or tip toe to not disturb other guests.

Other than that the hotel was really nice.

Nous avons passé 3jours dans se cadre magnifique. Très bien situé, le Riad est dans une petite rue, dès qu’on passe la porte l’accueil est chaleureux. Les patios, les terrasses, la chambre et l’espace jacuzzi sont de très bon goût et très propre.
Bonus le petit déjeuner est un régale et copieux.
