Checking in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly. The room and beds were fine... however, the bathroom had an empty box of tissues and the toilet wasn't flushed so we wondered if it was cleaned at all. Didn't bring this issue to the front desk as we were only there to sleep for one night.

All the staff was so great! Always friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed getting our northern lights wake up call. Food and drinks were good. Can be a bit overwhelming when the tour busses come in, but we would stay again. Lots of dining, shopping and grocery stores. Conveniently located on the highway leading into the Golden Circle. Great no frills stay and for a small fee, a nice spa area.

Horrible experience. Checked in. Asked if the spa was still available. The man at the desk said for another 90 min to two hours. Gave us spa robes and towels. We cam back down with robes and towels and asked for directions to the spa, then went to the spa. It was a mess. No staff available. Dirty bar glasses, towels, robes and swim suits everywhere. Disgusting. Steam room was cool w/o steam. Accidentally hit a button we thought was to start steam and several staff came and yelled at us including the man that gave spa attire. Filthy spa, rude employees.

The heating wouldn’t turn off in the room, the elevator did not work for the fourth floor (and not at all day 2). The staff wasn’t friendly. There was extreme loud noise all night until 1am, did not sleep at all.

We loved the food options all within walking distance.
This hotel is in a great spot, clean, great staff, and comfortable.
I will be staying at Hotel Selfoss everytime I come to Iceland.
The breakfast has everything you need to get off on the right foot.
Close to the golden circle and southern sights.
This is the place for me.

This was my favorite hotel that we stayed in on out Icelnad ring road trip.
So good that we started and finished here.
The check in was great. The Hotel staff were polite and accommodating.
The breakfast is killer here. The buffet alone for breakfast is worth staying.
The rooms were clean and quiet.
You are downtown Selfoss, so many food and drink option within walking distance.
Ill be staying here again for certain.

The room description on Expedia says there is a safe in the room, but there was no safe in my room - I think this is misleading of the hotel, so I am only giving it 2 out of 5. The Room amenities section also lists \"Safe at front desk\", but that should not be there, because it is not in the room. The hotel should remove the \"Safe\" from the Room amenities. My room was comfortable, but the hotel is a bit worn around the edges. Good location. Staff at reception were unfriendly, but the staff at breakfast were much nicer. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Great location in town on the river. Spacious room and good shower pressure but very small sink and shower glass didn't extend to floor so bathroom floor got wet. Bathroom tile was not heated. Great choice at breakfast although scrambled eggs looked rubbery. Great dinner choices across the street at Old Dairy Food Hall, best tacos ever!

Good hotel for walking around town in Selfoss. Rooms are decent but you can hear noise from the street if you are facing that way. They have a spa (sauna and hot tub) but you have to walk through the lobby, the restaurant entrances to get there. They also close at 20:00. Breakfast was ok. Nothing fancy. There is a walking trail behind the hotel with great view of a church and the suspension bridge.

We are in our 70’s and were given a room which was on top floor as far away from lift as possible, asked to change to ground floor with no luck…
Very narrow room with a scruffy balcony overlooking a very busy noisy roundabout - we tried having door open onto balcony for fresh air after traffic had died down but there was no door stop so it kept slamming shut.
The only lift to that floor was faulty - one of the staff told us it needed attention
Not enough room in the bathroom to swing a cat…
Sink was teeny tiny and the shower water was scalding hot even on cold setting

Bed was super comfie though
Hotel is in good position to walk to restaurants etc

We really wanted to love this place but it didn’t live up to expectations unfortunately. The location, town, and view from the room were lovely. The lobby was very nice but our room was very run down and wifi was nonexistent in our room. The shower leaked and was quite mouldy. Overall this place is clean and decent enough but I would not return.

We made this reservation the day of our stay. When we arrived at the hotel, there was no one at the desk. We had to call the number provided and waited 15 minutes for someone to show up. This is a large hotel, so that was surprising. Unfortunately, we arrived right at 9pm (hoping for a bite to eat) and there are no restaurants open in the area, including the one at the hotel. (This is common in Iceland, so it was entirely our fault.) The room was very dated. This was easily my least favorite stay of our trip. I would not stay here again.

It was clean nice property. The Tv was the smallest i have ever seen with no smart tv. Internet was not working the entire time we stayed at the property. The front desk was not very present. waited at the loby for a bit, when i called frint desk they did not answer for several calls. Spa was nice and the front desk staff was very pleasent. The chicken sandwiches was great at the restaurant.

They put us on the 4th floor and it was so hot that people were sitting in the halls on the floor trying to cool off from their rooms. They did end up giving us a fan and we opened the balcony, but in our opinion, our stay was unbearable. We stayed in other hotels during this heat wave and never felt this uncomfortable. The hotel downstairs was nice and cold. The lobby and restaurant views were beautiful.

Nice, clean hotel. Staff is polite. They have a restaurant on premises and have happy hour. The breakfast buffet is included and I must say pretty excellent. So many offerings!! The dining and lobby area are very modern and nicely decorated. However the rooms or at least the one I was in are very dated. And the curtains did not keep the midnight sun out. They are large and the bathrooms are huge. Best shower in Iceland!! Just be careful of the hot water! It’s boiling hot. You couldn’t ask for a better location. It’s literally a one minute walk from the food hall, shopping etc. The town church is right behind the hotel on a riverwalk. With the location’s proximity to attractions and the airport its a nice hotel and a pretty good value. It was very quiet as well.

Nice, clean, modern hotel. It is located a few steps from a new shopping and dining area which was very lively in the early evening. Also close to a footpath for a stroll along the river. Easy access to the Golden Circle and for travel to the South Coast. We used it as a stop on our way North and it worked out well.

The location is excellent, but this hotel needs some TLC. Tour buses stay here so the bar and breakfast are crowded. The spa is an extra charge and not sure it's worth the cost. The room was spacious, but the bathroom was tiny. This was the first hotel we could actually smell a bit of sulfur in the water too. They have a great happy hour, it's just not easy to sit and enjoy your cocktail.

Last time we stayed we had a magnificent view of the river - which was amazing. This time it was the car park - not so nice.

Hotel was busy with tour groups.

We asked for vegetarian grab & go breakfasts & were given ham sandwiches! Didn’t realise until we were half way to the airport.

This is a great hotel for a stay in Selfoss. Easy to find beautiful location and the dining area is beautiful over looking the river. Do not expect large beds we had 2 twins that were pushed together but very comfortable. Very quiet did not hear any noise in the room.

The hotel is very centrally located with everything we needed - dining, grocery shopping - in close proximity. The breakfast buffet was lovely and copious - everything from Icelandic Skyr and oatmeal to \"full English breakfast.\" The room was quite large and fully equipped. The views of the Ulfosa River from the dining area and rooms is stunning.
The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
It was also nice to return from a a day of sightseeing to the hotel bar's Happy Hour!

Conveniently located in Selfoss. On check in receptionist was very friendly. When asked, she told us how to sign for complementary parking. She mentioned we could go and have a look at the spa and if we wanted to go could comeback and pay. Then I mentioned I thought one trip to the spa was included in our stay. She checked and gave us our robe and towel.
Room was a reasonable size with bath/shower, toilet and sink including soap/shower gel. Lovely view of river and bridge into Selfoss. In room - Kettle with cups including tea and coffee. Fridge, safe and Tv.
Spa was very relaxing, hot water bath area with relaxing lights, cold water bath, steam room sauna and places to relax. Would have been a pleasure to have more time there to relax.
Breakfast good selection, hot and cold food, breads, toaster. Drinks- juices, tea coffee, water, milk. Good layout so even though it was busy it did not appear to be too crowded
Very pleasant stay, would certainly recommend.

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!

The pictures do not reflect the actual state of the rooms. They are old, poorly lit, and very dirty. We were first given a room without hot water, then transferred to another connected room where we could hear people talking next door. Finally, we switched to another room and found spiders in it. Overall, it was a very bad experience, and I’m not sure how they managed to get four stars. It seems like they’ve probably bought a lot of reviews.
