Staff is extremely welcoming and informative. The apartment we were in was clean and maintained. The room had a sauna that was difficult for us to use (never used that type before) but the hot tub was the best! The drive down the scenic road was great and we loved seeing the horses. Price was very reasonable. Highly recommend staying.

It’s a country place. Wish there were some coffee or tea packs, and some napkins or paper kitchen towel in the kitchen.
The biggest thing was looking for the property. We used iPhone map, and it took us to a place 30 miles north of it close to the Crater. After some unpaved road, we arrived at a cabin where there was a note on the window reads “this is not country dream guesthouse. It is 30 miles south from here”. So obviously we were not the only people came to the wrong place. The google map has the correct location, however, the street sign on the highway 1 says rd. 304 instead of 318. It would be very helpful if there was a sign reads country dream guesthouse on the highway. After a long day, it’s a bit frustrating to have such difficulties locating the place.

The room was so cute and comfortable. It had a kitchen with all the appliances and kitchen utensils you could possibly need, it even had some pantry staples stocked. The bathroom was designed well, the whole room was actually. Also, I showed up after midnight, expecting to just collect my room key at the reception but an owner came out to greet me and show me to my room which was so nice of her. I highly recommend this place.

first you should know that the property is not located in Selfoss, but about 10 minutes out and it is a horse eanch with cottages. Very charming ... just that the address Expedia shows is confusing as there are 2 streets with the same name. Guests should continue oast the girst ine and into the countryside about ten minutes toward the second ine well marked off the main road. Look for horse ranch setting. You will live your stay!!!

Very quiet location, outside of town, in a farm. There are animals, including horses nearby, no need to go far for pictures. Comfortable bed, a little kitchen and a suna is always a plus!

This property is away from town, so prepare your own food before arrival.

This is a place about 10 mins from Selfoss. Tiny little cabin room with a small kitchen.
It wasn't the cleanest room when we checked in, but it was well maintained.
The host was nice and the place was easy to find.

We traveling with a 3 year old child and it wasn't very child proof of/toddler friendly, because there was literally no space. I wouldn't stay here with a child.

The guesthouse was set in a very nice, rural area. the cabins were clean and the kitchen was well stocked for us. It was a great place to stay as a base for our visits to the National Park. The town of Selfoss had a Bonus grocery store so we could stock up for out 3 days...breakfast and dinner. We wish the owners had been on site to chat with our about Iceland...

We were greeted at the car and given great service. The staff showed us how to operate the sauna and where everything was. He got us some ice when requested. It was a real cute cottage with 4 separate rooms. The bed was comfortable. There were view of horses grazing out the window. A little tricky to find though and the shower was difficult to operate.

This place is wonderful. Selfoss is a great little town, and Country Dream Guesthouse is the perfect place to stay. It's on a farm and the hosts are wonderful people. They are really friendly and I would recommend this guesthouse to anyone. It's very secluded and the guesthouses are very warm and cozy. It's a home away from home.

Fantastic place to stay

Very happy I stayed here - hosts were very welcoming and friendly, and the room was lovely and warm (in the winter). Everything was in great condition and clean. Plenty of parking and easy to find with Google Maps. I can imagine this would also be a great place to see the northern lights due to being a bit outside of town (sadly it was cloudy when I stayed). I would definitely stay here again if I’m back in the area!

Make sure you drive in from the Selfoss direction! Do not try to get to the property on the first road GPS gives you if you are coming from the west. After about 2 miles of gravel, the grate in the road is impassable in a standard car.

The cottages were very nice and clean.

Gorgeous cottage in the country. Easy to find location along the golden circle. Fabulous hosts that gave us great sightseeing guidance. Excellent communication before our arrival and during our stay. Took a little walk down the back gravel road at midnight and saw the most amazing midnight sun with gorgeous views.

The owners are very nice and accommodating. The home is cozy and comfortable. The location is very convenient for the golden circle and the south coast waterfalls. We were able to see the northern lights on 2 of our nights by going to a small pull off on the road where the home is located. I would highly recommend this home.

This property is fabulous and everyone should go! Check in was very quick and Ragnar very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and clean. The little kitchenette was extremely useful for making dinner and breakfast. Location in the country is perfect, away from the lights of Selfoss if you are interested in darkness for the aurora, but near enough to be able to use the advantages is the town.

Lovely countryside experience

We only stayed in the Country Dream Guesthouse for one night, but it was great! We rented the one bedroom cottage and it kept us warm and dry on an extremely rainy night. The location was a bit difficult to find in the dark and rain, but I imagine it would have been fine if the weather had been better and easy in the daylight. The hosts were unable to greet us due to a family emergency, which was completely understandable, but they made sure that we had everything we needed and that checkin would be seemless in their absense. The cottage was comfortable and very cute, but if you are staying for multiple days and would like to cook, it may be a bit tight as the kitchen area is very small and a bit dated. Linens and towels were provided and the bed was very comfortable. My favorite part of the stay was exploring the area in the morning when we had good weather - the horses down the road greeted us and the dog was very friendly as well! If I am ever back in Iceland, I would stay here again for a longer time and would recommend it to anyone!

A tip: please be sure to contact the hosts before you arrive to clarify the check in process as there is no front desk!

A quiet country getaway with friendly service

What a gorgeous place to stay! It is just a few minutes drive to a gas station and a few places to eat as well as a grocery store. Otherwise, this beautiful horse farm is very quiet and our hosts were EXTREMELY friendly! I would certainly stay here again.

The room and bathroom were very pleasant and clean. We did not purchase the breakfast; it did not look all that impressive, nor was the breakfast space; a little awkward because it was basically their entry way. I was a little disappointed that the hot tub was not in use and it would have been nice to get more info about the northern lights especially because they were supposed to be pretty spectacular that night, but being new to Iceland (it was our first night there), we didn't realize that checking the night sky once was not necessarily enough.

I booked last minute because of a change in weather and had no problems with checking in. The property itself is great, I had a chandelier in my bedroom. Super cute and very comfortable. The host was also great. I would stay here again! I did not eat breakfast but it looked decent and reasonably priced.

Wonderful stay at the Cottage

We stayed at the cottage and it was very lovely. Got lost while getting there but the host was very sweet and helpful to guide us to the cottage. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything that we needed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is planning to do the Golden Circle and end the day there or doing the ring road. I would stay here again if I do go back to Iceland. :)

When I first booked my stay I made a mistake on the reservation, the owner could have easily charged me double to change it because that's the rule, but she didn't and went out of her way to help me fix it. Be aware that putting the name into Google maps will NOT get you to the right place. It's out of town, and I had a bit of trouble getting to the right place. I stayed in one of 3 rooms in the main house. Positives: very clean, beautiful stand of trees right outside my window and a barn of horses, very nice hosts. The negatives: one bathroom for up to 6 people. Possibly of rude fellow guests which I had, slamming doors at all hours and banging on the bathroom door if you spend more than 10 minutes. It was a very stressful bathroom experience every time, even though I tried to pick off hours to shower and use the facilities. I had the front room, and there is a security light that shown through the curtains. It was extremely bright. You can hear the hosts in their part of the house, having dinner etc. I don't like being in people's space, so it was hard for me. Overall a good place, but because of the people who were staying at the same time it ended up being not a good experience for me.

Hard to find but so worth the effort!

A nice family home turned into a guest house. Impeccably clean, and nicely decorated Scandinavian style. We shared a bathroom but it was a big bathroom and the other guests were friendly and easy to be with. Tucked away from the city, it’s a great place to see the northern lights (which we did!!) and just relax. It was so much more than we ever imagined. The best part was our wonderfully warm and welcoming hosts. They were so kind and attentive and wanting to please. They helped us make local calls and offered many suggestions for sightseeing. We came as guests and left feeling as family. We will absolutely come back to this part of Iceland just to stay there again.

Just know:google maps took us to another Country Dreams in the city of Selfoss and had a hard time finding this one - which is outside the city of Selfoss. This guest house is located off of Road 318 so be sure to look on the map for the correct one! 100% worth the hunt.

A guesthouse in south Iceland

The room was clean, fine bedding, private bathroom, cozy and good. There is little kitchen, you can make a light dinner if needed ( we did make breakfast, the main house charges 15.00 Euros for one person. It is pretty consistent with the rest of Iceland though. The owner let us go and visit her horses, they were friendly. Nice stay, would recommend.

Country Dream was very homey and clean, and the hosts were friendly. Bathroom was clean & toiletries are provided. They have a breakfast option (€15) but coffee/tea and basic kitchen appliances are available to all as well. Would recommend.

Be sure to follow the directions that are sent/navigate to the location from the confirmation.

Lovely apartment with kitchen and private sauna/steam room! The couple who owns the property is extremely friendly and helpful, and live right on site. We didn’t do it, but they have a stable and run horse trips too. Will do next time.
