Service was top notch. Parking was a bear but we were instructed to bring the car close to unload luggage, the two employees helped carry our luggage to our room and the owner went out of his way to personally find a parking space for our car.

Check in neat and tidy. Although on second floor of a typical old Italian building overdue for TLC, it provided a comfortable bed in clean room. Shared bathroom was also clean. For me, the only hiccup was, I wasn’t able to lower the A/C, otherwise all ok.

In Riva al Lago was easy to find and close to many restaurants and shopping in Como. Marta was helpful getting us checked in. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We were happy to have AC and a fan to cool us off during hot weather.

Zero hassle, it is super clean, ample breakfast items, 2 double glazed windows so there is no sound from the street, aircon cold, private toilet and shower very clean. It is a room inside and area where there are other rooms as well like the 4 person room so the only noise will be from other people in that area.

The area was great. Room was clean and small. We were told the air conditioning could not be turned on and to just open the windows, even after explaining our allergies towards pollen. The property doesn’t let you enter in after midnight which felt very odd. Very very clean. Can hear everything, walls seem thin.

Mario was so nice and helpful with a place to eat, making ice formour cooler as well as stating that because we got in late, it would cost more to pay for his parking than to use the public parking which is less than a block away.
Only downside was an assumption on my part. When I see B and B I assume breakfast is included and no breakfast was included. We would still stay again just because of Mario.

it was hard to find the check-in spot at first (you can see the front desk through the window to the left of where Google Maps takes you), but otherwise we had a great experience here! Comfy bed, clean bathroom, great water pressure for the shower, plenty warm and super close to the lake. Friendly staff too.

Entry PIN and emergency phone number should be accessible online. Yes, I was given a paper slip with those details, but in a rush I forgot it in my room. Once I came back (23:30), the reception was closed and I had no one to phone so was very very close to being left outside the building as I forgot the pin. Doesn't help that emergency phone number and PIN are on the same piece of paper. Had to resort to desperate measures, and knocked on the door of the hotel in the hope that someone will hear me. I was lucky the manager of the hotel was still in the building, and he heard someone knocking so he opened. But man that was scary! Entry sistem should be revised and make it less prone to fail.

We visited Como literally three months before the COVID - 19 pandemic .Had a wonderful two night stay. Staff were superb, friendly and approachable. All aminities were near such as bus C17 towards Menangio ,C19 towards Bellagio ,Lake boats,cruises etc. Hotel breakfast was with hundreds of varieties healthy foods and fruits.We consider it more than breakfast almost a lunch . Above all hotelier Mario is a ''Super Mario '' because we saw his hospitality towards all boarders were very caring.I wish him very well and hope he is doing excellent in this current situation.

Have stayed here each time we visit Lake Como. It is an outstanding inn. Location is perfect right on the lakeside. So clean and beds very comfortable. We had en suite bathroom and it was super clean. Mario is an impeccable host. Very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is exceptional with everything one could want. Our room was 3rd floor which was no problem for us but if mobility is a concern, ask for ground floor room in advance. No elevator. Very close to bus stop. Take #4 or #5 to and from the Como San Giovanni train station. Love this place. Thanks, Mario!

The street appearance of this hotel us ratty snd scary. The inner stairs are unlighted, dirty snd narrow. But the room was just fine. The desk lsdy walked us to our room because there are codes to put in at the hallwdya. The air cooler only runs at certain hours. The room had no problems except the shower water ran allover the floor. Breakfast was crowded but had an amazing selection. It doesn't start until 8:00 and our train left before that, so they gave us a yogurt and apple to go.

This clean and convenient hotel has a great location in Como, close to a bus stop, 1 block from the lake and a 15 minute walk from the Como S. Giovanni Train Station. The funicular to the top of the nearby mountain is a 5 minute walk as well. The host is super helpful - he helped us plan a day trip to Venezza and Bellagio using public ferries and a bus back to the hotel. This worked out much better than the ferry passed we thought we would need - it coast less and took less time to get back to Como from Bellagio.

The room was clean and comfortable (although not very large). There is no lift, but it was worth the climb to the top (third) floor for the end room with a partial view of Lake Como. I can't remember when booking it stating it was a hostel, but this place is not for holiday makers. It is in a convenient location and is 2 minutes walk away from the lake which is beautiful. The hostel itself is clean enough, and suited us for one night, but I would not want to stay any longer than that!

The hotel was nicely located, steps away from the lake. It was walking distance to the water taxis, food, and Como del Nord. My only complaint is that I realized in the night that the bed was dirty at the foot area. I should have inspected the bed prior, but one also expects clean beds when staying at a hotel.

For a budget hotel near the lake, ferries, funicular , cafes and restaurants it would be hard to beat! Downstairs is a great little bar-restaurant owned by the same family - good food at great prices. No lift but good size room with ensuite and lots of hot water. A warm welcome and very friendly staff. Heating and air con plus good reliable wifi.

5 minute walk from the old part of Como and very close to the lake. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was nothing fancy but if you are looking for a comfortable place to sleep with great staff then I would recommend this hotel. Would stay again.

Room comes with 3 beds tho I only booked for 2 singles. The property tucked in the most convenient location in Como-nearest to local bus terminus n stops for easy connections to stazione S Giovanni n all other parts of local commute! Also surrounded by local eateries n lakeside where ferries' jetties are stones throw away. N a easy walk to the main piazza del Duomo.

Great hotel just behind the art deco bus station. The restaurant downstairs is where you will find meals at a more reasonable price than most other places in Como. The price of the hotel was fantastic for what we got. The room was large and the bed was comfortable enough, although it was too singles together, not one double. Good water pressure and clean. No real complaints. Wifi was a bit spotty though.

We stayed here for 2 nights before heading further up the lake. An excellent location - shops, ferries, restaurants and the cable car all within very close walking distance. Our room and the bathrooms were spotlessly clean, and the buffet breakfast was really good! We stayed in the bunk beds which was fine for 2 nights only, very good value. If you are staying for more than this however it may be useful to get somewhere with a private bathroom as there were time restrictions on when you could use showers, which could get a little annoying with a long stay. We enjoyed our stay here overall.

Such a great location, right in the heart. Near to great local restaurants, shops, bus stop and much more. Although it felt a little bit like a hostel with shared bathrooms, we didn't mind. Amazing hotel staff and just the most spectacular breakfast.

This place is located right near the trains and bus station, with comfortable bunk beds for a family of 4, even one shares common shower and bathroom area, which are very clean indeed. No safety concern whatsoever, and the breakfast layout is impressive also. Separate parking for $10/day can be arranged as well. Great for short visit!

Family vacation for all ages. Easy to walk around, excellent shopping and restaurants. Hotel placed my parents on the lower floor, which they appreciated as there is no elevator. Hotel looks like it is in an alley, and may not look new on the outside, but it is great inside, roomy, clean and feels new. We had an ensuite bathroom, and comfortable beds. We would all stay again. Very good breakfast in the morning included!

Staff were vey kind assisting with bags to the room and always available to give some advice. All in all a very well run little hotel in a great location. Book early to make sure you get a room.

It's a newly renovated bed and breakfast. Like old buildings, there are no lifts. The stairs difficult to climb with big luggage. We were helped up by the receptionist. Both receptionists are very nice fellows and speak good English. The location is close to train and bus station. But be aware, the train station does not connect to Milan Centrale. It connects to Milan Cadorna. Check. There are so many restrictions they impose on the room. Gave us a dorm type room. The toilets have no ventilation but new and clean. I would still recommend this hotel but not for honeymooners.

Very close to the lake & the boats that take you out for rides, but best was the closeness to the old part of town. The cathedral is simply breathtaking & the little winding cobblestone roads have lots of shops & places to eat. The staff at Riga was so helpful = making sure we knew how to use the keys & etc. The parking is a block away & very secure. We liked our stay, but were surprised at the traffic in Como. Take a good map, To find Riga, pull into the bus station at the east end of town.

Room rate seemed reasonable, the room had air conditioning which was nice. The attached restaurant serves decent food at a good price, and there are lots of other little places to eat and drink nearby. A nice quiet little place to spend a few nights.

What a fun, cozy, clean, awesome place Riva Al Lago is!! I will definitely go back when I find myself in Como again... This was a spur of the moment trip (one night only) with 4 people. Even last minute, the rooms were available and affordable and clean and in a PERFECT location. We had never been to Como before, so this was a gamble... one we are SO glad we took! Clean and tidy. Right in the heart of the old town. Great service. Working wifi. Garage option for a car. Great night life. Affordable prices. LOVED IT! Thank you Riva Al Lago!

HORRIBLE service!! The man in charge of checking us in was EXTREMELY rude! We were staying for 1 night but each of us (3 people) had luggages with our clothes and personal things to take shower and change. We were doing a two-week Europe tour. Receptionist kept complaining we had too many luggage for one night and that we should leave them in the car. The guy was very impatient because we were taking too long to go up and took the luggage out of my hands so abruptly that he broke the luggage handle. Do you think he apologized? NO! He shouldn't assume that people don't live around the corner and just need a hotel to sleep. We also need to take shower and change! We were so upset with the \"reception\" we had that we couldn't even have a good night sleep. Unfortunately everywhere else was already closed. We were told we couldn't take a shower from 11pm until 8am. They need a new receptionist because other than that hotel is clean with very clean bathrooms and comfortable beds. The other guy who was at the front desk in the morning when we checked-out was completely different, very courteous. I wished he was the one there that night when we arrived after driving 6 hours straight trying to make it there before they close the front desk.

The hotel is positioned well for the summer season and very clean. The check-in is open until 23hrs we arrived at 22:30 and the proprietor (?) complained about this. We were made to feel most unwelcome. There is also no breakfast served in the low season. Parking is available but at charge of 9 euros per day . Only one towel each supplied in bathroom with a 2 euro charge for extra towel. Look at the house rules and it will give you an idea of the mentality of the management. We travel often in Italy and are usually given a warm welcome and good breakfast here we felt we were an inconvenience. May be a good hotel in the high season but we would never book this hotel again!

Big plus was the multitude of outlets in our room for charging all our devices. Would have loved to stay for more than a night to visit the area. No elevators in the property, so pack light.

There is no elevator, so be prepared to walk up the stairs with luggage if need be. The concierge was very nice and helped me with my luggage, but not an ideal situation if you have a big suitcase. The room was like a dorm room with bunk beds..more like a pensione. Otherwise directly across the street from Como Nord station and conveniently located. Concierge very helpful with everything.

We stayed here for our introductory night to our holiday in the Italian Lakes. Great location near the train station and Lake and within easy walking distance of Como township. Parking was available for our car. The host was a real character, friendly and informative. Room was cosy and clean with a great view of the church spire and bells which was cool to open the window in the morning and wake up to. Breakfast was superb.

Overall great location but rooms located on the 2nd/3rd floor without an elevator so can it can be challenging to get up the stairs if you have many luggage or late at night. Security is good: the gate is protected by a security passcode, the same with accessing rooms on your floor. Each room has it's own key. Driving and parking in Como's narrow streets can be a challenge, the hotel's parkase was narrow.

service was excellent and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was superb quality with great selection to choose from, we had a high vehicle with a large roof box but they personally made sure it could fit in one of their secure garages. Nicest area next to the lake lots of very good restaurants. Previously stayed in much more expensive Como hotels but would always book this hotel in future.

This was a great location to visit the city. The rooms are small and you have to share a bathroom but the location and the breakfast were seriously the best ever. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are the type of people that will not be chilling in the hotel itself. Can't get a better location and I haven't had a better breakfast anywhere in Italy.
