I enjoyed my stay at the Tre Re. Really clean room and staff were really easy to communicate with. The air conditioning in my room wasn't set to work \"yet\" and I had a feeling it was there as a prop. My window faced the court yard on the 2nd floor and I slept with it open. True, this hotel doesn't have amenities that Americans are used but, but it's a local run place in Italy. Adjusting is part of the experience!

My flight wasn't until late afternoon and the staff at the front desk were happy to hold my bags until my departure.

Really good location. The ferry, train, and duomo were literally around the corner.

I'd stay again... just not in hot summer time with no air conditioning.

No Air Conditioner Therefore you have to open the windows and all the noise come from the street to your room I don’t recommend this hotel if you want place to sleep comfortably and have quality sleep.

Hotel is in a great location, ten minutes walk from the main train station (San Giovani) and a few minutes walk to the lake. It is situated in the old town which is largely pedestrianised.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and tidy. It is a little dated, but not run down or lacking maintenance. The breakfast is ok, limited choice continental but as expected for the price.

A perfect spot tucked away in Como.

Close to the cathedral and the lake this is a wonderful spot for easy access to Como. I would have given all 5 stars but 2 more pillows and access to an additional blanket in the room would have been ideal. The temperature in the room was a bit cool for our liking given the recent dip in temperature on our end be night stay.

It’s right in the city center, close to everything and a very short walk to the bus stop and not far to the train station. It has a cute little courtyard and attached restaurant. We had breakfast every morning which was included in the price and was a really good breakfast with lots of options. We loved our stay and if we are able to get back to Como, we will stay here again!

Staff was very nice & helpful. They offer taxi service to Milano airport MXP for 100 Euro. Room had pot to heat water for tea or coffee, hair dryer. Shower VERY SMALL with shower curtain. Remember to bring your own washcloths as none were supplied in any of the 3 countries we visited. Breakfast was included but limited & promptly at 10 was removed. Location was great for walking to everything. If going to Bellagio recommend C 30 bus from train station as first stop & only 10 minute walk. It’s a 1:50 ride so standing not fun.

the room and how close the hotel was to everything. The check in was a breeze and we were up to our spacious room in no time at all.

There is a lot of space in the room and it was comfortable. I would give it a 4.7/5 only because our room could not keep a wifi connection and there was no mini fridge. This was a minor issue because we were gone all the time.

This may seem weird, but i relly appreciated that they kept the key at the front desk for you while you were out. The reception desk has a person 24/7 and it was nice not to worry about losing the key while you were out.

5 out of 5 I would stay here again. Walk out of the inner court and you are in the heart of Como.

Friendly welcome, clean room, on site parking, location in the middle of the Old Town, close to the cathedral.

They need to help guests arriving by car a little, my navi did nor recognise that many streets are pedestrian. Best approach is head to the cathedral, along the train tracks, and turn left by the cathedral.

Perfect location in the centre of the old town close to shops, restaurants and waterfront. Onsite parking e18 per night but Google Maps will try and take you through the pedestrian areas. Hot humid night but AC no longer offered even though there was a unit in the room. The listing says AC is available but the owner / manager does not want guests to use it. Had a twin room but small uncomfortable single beds with only one thin pillow. Ongoing neck pain as a result. Despite these issues great value for money, nice breakfast and helpful employees in a great location

For the price and location, this hotel is good value for money. Breakfast was basic but tasty enough. Croissants, cheese, ham, salami, yoghurts, cereal, coffee, jam and Nutella.
Bedroom was basic but functional. Bed comfortable, air con worked well, shower good pressure etc. a fridge would have been welcomed.

This is a basic three stars hotel. However it is excellent if you are not after luxury. This is not a resort, this is a stepping stone for explorations and travels around Lake Como.
Staff is very welcoming and nice.
The rooms are super basic, however they are clean, comfy and quiet.
The hotel is of course an old building without much charm but again decent.
The breakfast if basic.
The location si Amazing. You are in the heart of Como city, 5 minutes walk from the Ferry and 5 minutes from all cafes and restaurants of Como City Center.

Great location in Como and 10 minutes walk from the train station . Great staff and more than accommodating. My only problem was being an older very successful hotel that they don’t reinvest into better beds. The hotel can well afford accommodating and purchasing in bulk new mattress’s.

Initially booked two nights ended up staying three 😊
Thanks to Claudia for great customer service.
Would recommend staying at this place.

Only thing to note is that shower is very small and it is okay for petite people but not for everyone.

Hotel was in walking distance to the train station, funicular and piers. It was very clean and the staff were very nice. The room was a good size with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was good. No fridge or tea making facilities in the room but other than that everything was very good.

Great stay! Can’t beat the location, minutes away from lake como and about a 12 min walk from the train station. Staff was friendly, got to check in early, room was clean with nice view into terrace. Breakfast was solid and checkout at 11 was very nice. Got to keep our bags there even after check out.

We had a wonderful stay. Big very very clean room & bathroom with coordinated hand towels. Beautiful crisp hypo-allergenic bed sheets. There is a lift. Fantastic buffet breakfast. Very convenient location. A few steps from restaurants, 2 blocks from The Basilica del Como, 2 blocks from piazza, 2 blocks from shopping/stores, & just $12.00 by taxi to San Giovanni train station. The staff were all kind & wonderful ! I will stay there again!

Barking dogs, hearing the room next door until 2am

Firstly to start with the good... the location of the hotel is perfect. However the hotel is very noisy... heard the people on the room next door watching TV until 2am, their dog started barking incessantly at 7am and in a lack of tact by hotel staff they started vacuuming at 8am on a Saturday. Not a place to go if you want to sleep well and be well rested

It is very centrally located in Centro Vecchio of Como. It is set back from the street with parking and a pleasant sitting area. 15 minutes walk with two cases from Como Nord Lago station. ( About an hour by train from Milan Cadorna station and a similar time from Malpensa airport with a change at Saronno)

Basic Hotel for a short stay

The hotel was exactly what we paid for and expected. Room was clean and tidy.
Check in and out was easy. A Bit strange they kept the key whilst we were out of the hotel, this had to be left at reception. Also the gate was locked after 12pm but could be opened by someone after ringing the doorbell.
Hotel was in a great location around 5 minutes walk to the lake and well as to restaurants nearby. Very close to the cathedral.
Overall easy and simple stay for a good price

Reception staff excellent!

The reception staff was exceedingly helpful when I arrived many hours later than intended due to theft of my wallet earlier in the day in a town 3.5 hours by train away.
The following morning she helped me make necessary overseas phone calls to cancel credit cards etc. Then did not charge me any cost.
I really appreciated her kindness.
The location of this hotel is right in the middle of the 'old' town. Lots of cafes, restaurants, musical buskers, great atmosphere!!
It is about a 10 min walk from the Como S Giovani train stn, though the park.

Our first room (225), at the end of a hallway, was an upgrade in size and elegance. Lovely room. Until that night, when I discovered it was directly over a pizza place and street that were, ahem, lively. Noisy until 1am. And again at 6am. With windows closed it was a bit better but then we stifled because it's summer and warm! (Yes, there's an air conditioner... but I was really wanting the lovely breeze!)

I went down to the front desk in the morning and they promptly found us a different room and helped us get moved. A standard room overlooking the central courtyard. Nice and quiet. I did have to dig out my airplane eyemask though to keep out the bright spotlights they used until midnight. With that on, I was able to get good sleep the following nights.

The hotel is located in a great part of town. Easy walk to the lake and to shopping and to the train stations.

One downside was that breakfast was not included, which we found out at check-out! It's so common in Italy for breakfast to be included that they really should have noted it on check-in, or next to the breakfast hours. It was okay but not worth 10EUR each.

Ok apart from smoking room next door

Was I room 32 (non smoking room), really nice but unfortunately at the end of a corridor next to a smoking room (no 31). The stench of cigarette smoke was in our room all night and especially bad in the morning. Not too impressed about that but apart from that breakfast was good. You have to email the hotel about parking before arriving....We did but didn't get a reply so if you don't get a reply call or email again.

From day one the staff made me feel at home. I am no world traveler and have never been to Italy. I know no Italian. I wanted to stay at a place that would help me \"feel\" the experience. As an artist. I use all my senses. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this place. The family that runs it. They couldn't be kinder and more patient. I was in Como for a wedding. The rest of my family paid 10 times more for a place to stay! But, when I was out enjoying the town. I would always say, \"I'm ready to go home\" that is how I felt about my experience with Tre Re.

Our best holiday, in large part made by this hotel

Totally brilliant hotel and stay - the hotel is in a slightly old building, but is clearly loved, looked after and cherished. It is meticulously clean, the rooms are a reasonable size, the noise is just not noticeable (it is right in the city centre 200 m from the cathedral), indeed, I hardly heard anything. What made the stay however was the superb staff: the receptionists were amazing, friendly, very professional, amazingly they remembered which rooms we were in, reaching for the right key even before we'd come back from a days touristing. No issue was too much trouble. The owners (at least, I think they were the owners) were always there, watching, maintaining standards, friendly and professional. It was perfect for us and I thoroughly recommend it, we would certainly stay again.

Central hotel close to lake and all amenities

This hotel is at the heart of the town of Como close to the lake ,the Duomo all the shops,restaurants and bars, it's a pity that the owners pay more attention to parking cars outside on their patio area where they could have a better seating and eating area for guests which would bring in more revenue I'm sure. The hotel itself us comfortable ,breakfast is plentiful just help yourself. Although they need to update the toaster which takes an age and the handle is broken. We had one meal on an evening which was very tasty and averagely priced. On arriving the the room we were given was very poor for a \"superior double\" very dark and small the view was of a quadrant yard of walls and the kitchen below which was noisy but when asked to move we were given a much better room with an outward looking view of the square still not what I would call \"superior\" but apparently it was all they had . Overall our stay was pleasant staff very helpful and obliging Anything you wanted to know always helpful.

The only problem we had with our stay was with the car parking. We left our keys with reception incase the car needed to be moved out of the way. It was moved and parked up against a wall in the garage. About 10 miles down the road we stopped and when we got out of the car noticed 2 scratches on the side of the car that had been parked next to the wall.I recomment that anyone takeing their own car check it very carefully before they leave.

Good over-nighter with parking...

We were on a road trip and needed a hotel for an overnight stay. We had two requirements being parking and central location. This hotel was in the centre of Lake Como city so we could experience the city sights. You drive into the city centre in a restricted area on a specific route to get to the hotel so you might ring the hotel upon approach for specific directions, but as promised it did have onsite secure parking. The room was basic but clean and comfortable for our needs. Reasonably priced and meeting our requirements it is hard to fault this hotel and we had a pleasant stay.

Great hotel in historic downtown. Not for cars.

Great location just one block away from the Duomo and within walking distance from restaurants and bars. This is not the usual run-of-the-mill hotel. It's located in the historic downtown so getting there by car can be very tricky. It was impossible some nights. During my stay some streets were closed and I had to park somewhere else. It is not a car friendly place. The staff is polite and accommodating. The room was spacious considering the location (and age of the building).

City break

There were a few problems with the room,
1) despite the double glazing, the disposal of bar empty bottles into the refuse lorry in the street below at 0645 sounded like it was inside the room.
2) bed and pillows were very hard but soft pillows were available.
3) it looked like the room had very recently been converted, there were false timber beams in the ceiling that turned out to have drain pipes from the rooms above, every noise of draining water was loud and clear.

We also arrived by car, which was a nightmare because the satnav tried to take us into the city centre at the wrong point. MUST go in from the cathedral entrance!!!!

Parking at the hotel was excellent, however. Bottom line though, if you do not need a car , take the train.

Would still use the hotel again as it is perfect for this city.

Forewarned is forearmed.

The location of the hotel is great. It sits right in the middle of the 'downtown' area of shops and is just a short walk to the lake. They offer parking at the hotel which is of great value in como. And once you're there, no need to move the car. The hotel itself is very basic with no frills but the rooms were modern and clean.

Hotel with everything on the doorstep

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in September as part of a driving tour of the lakes and French Alps. Getting to the hotel (which is in a pedestrianised area) was not as bad as I thought although my SatNav (and Google Maps) took us down some very narrow streets. We discovered later that the hotel is signposted if you approach from the Ferry terminal end with no need to drive down these very narrow side streets. Parking was not an issue (we were there in September) but I can see how they might operate a shunting procedure to pack the cars in during the high season.
Our room was small but with a large double bed and wet room (think it was the disabled room). The staff were very pleasant and most spoke english. The hotel is in the centre of the old town with everything (including a supermarket) on the doorstep. A five minute stroll from the lake and ferry terminal. Breakfast was a continental buffet with a reasonable choice. We ate in the restaurant on two occasions and the food was good and reasonably priced.

The only downside is the noise of delivery services early in the morning but we could have closed the window.

Would recommend.

Very clean and the staff were friendly. I booked last minute when I arrived in Como from Milan. No complaints. Breakfast was included, wifi was pretty fast in my room, and it was right by everything. It's a converted convent, which makes it fun and different, but note that the rooms are made for 80 year old nuns - so small. ha. but pretty typical of a european room.

Nice hotel shame about the noisy coach parties

To get to the Tres Re you have to drive through pedestrian only streets, there is an exception for hotel guests, which can be a bit fraught, but there is plenty of free (for a motorcycle at least) parking once you get there. We had a small room with a large double bed. This meant that there was not much room to get around the bed and little room for our luggage. The room was also the first in the first floor corridor so very near the stairs. Convenient in some ways but disastrous when on both nights of our stay a coach party of Americans decided that everyone wanted to hear their conversations as they went up the stairs and along the corridors. Not much the hotel can do about their lack of consideration but the stairwell, which is quite grand, amplified the sound considerably. Try to get a room not by the stairs. There was a standard Italian cold breakfast buffet that was fine. Free Wi-Fi is available only close by reception.

I liked the hotel, a converted convent. The only problem of note was that our shower had no tile blocking the water flow out of the shower, so the water ran all over the bathroom. Our room was designed to be accessible for the disabled, so this may have been a design feature to make it easy to access the shower. My 70 year old mother in law thought the room on the small side, but she was new to the European hotel scene. I thought our room was larger and nicer than many I've stayed in while traveling in Europe.

Happy experience in Como.

Excellent location in the middle of the old town. Good breakfast and the staff gave very helpful advice to our queries. In the evening we had an excellent meal.

Location is wonderful. Other than that, nothing much exciting about the hotel. Three stars is a little over-rated. It's more like a two star hotel.

Friendly staff run this hidden gem

Nice hotel located off a plaza; walked by it at first but a friendly local pointed the way. The partial view of the mountains from the room was charming, especially at night when villa lights twinkled. Easy walking distance to Lake and Plaza with cafes and shops. Bed was a bit too firm. Staff was very helpful and was eager to respond to our requests.

A Very Nice Hotel

The hotel is located perfectly in Como. Close to the lake, to the main Cathedral and also within an easy walking distance to both train station. The staff was great: helpful and knowledgeable. They spoke excellent English and gave good advice. The room was clean and everything there was in working order. The negatives: my room was very small. It was barely OK for one person. The room had two beds though, so I assume they somehow place two people there. The shower stall is very small. Many people simply would not fit there. The restaurant was good but not great. With all this in mind, I still heartily recommend this hotel. It is hard to beat its location and the great staff working there. I had a wonderful stay.

Central location, but very hard beds

The service was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel has free parking, which is a plus. The breakfast was ok, but not much to choose from. Rooms were clean and ok size for us (superior double room 17 sq. meters). The bathroom was small, and the shower only had a shower curtain and some water spilled over the bathroom floor. The hotel has a very central location close to shopping and the lake. The only thing that was a disappointment was the beds, which were very hard. Over all this is not a luxurious hotel but ok for the price you pay.

Hotel is in great location, just make sure you get the train or bus to Como North LAKE (LAGO). The Como North train is a long way from the hotel - you must get the one that say \"lago/lake\". Service was great, breakfast good for me as a non-European, free wifi in the lounge. The big negative was the pillows and mattress are like sandbags - very, very hard. But I asked for different ones and they changed my room and I ended up with a soft but lumpy mattress and nice pillow!! And, it wasn't noisy!

Convenient location

Staffs are friendly and kind, reception staff proved to be very helpful. The location is very close to Como Lago railway station, bus terminal and boat terminal. The breakfast consists of Coffee, tea & juice, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, bread, ham, cheese, cakes, pastries etc. The opposite of the hotel is a supermarket which sells food, very useful; however our rooms peace was disturbed every morning at 6am when the shop was replenished and rubbish nosily cleared. Being right in the centre of things there was a lot of evening noise some from music and to be expected excited chatty voices at a local outside restaurant. We prefer windows open in hot weather but hotel solved problems with giving us the air conditioner controller and with windows closed, slept well.

Albergo Ristorante Tre Re, Como

This is a very convenient hotel near the Cathedral in the old city centre of Como, with free parking using great ingenuty to get as many cars in as possible. The room was small but fine for the price, and comfortable enough with all the expected facilities. The hotel restaurant was fine on the day that rain kept us in, and breakfast was good.
