I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had an average experience. The location was convenient and the staff were generally friendly, which I appreciated. The room was clean, but a bit dated, and some amenities could use an upgrade.

Charles Hotel in Budapest is a great choice for budget travelers looking for comfort and character. The cozy, vintage-style rooms have a charming old-world feel, and the hotel is about a 40-minute walk from the city center. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, special thanks to István at the reception for his outstanding support. The only downside is that some street-facing rooms can be a bit noisy at night, but overall it’s a very pleasant and good-value stay.

This was an older building. The bathroom was a bit dirty in the shower. The plumbing was interesting. The room was huge but the mattress was sagging in the middle. We didn't use the kitchenette. The breakfast was decent and we had dinner in the same restaurant which was nice. It was a 1km walk to the castle. Not sure I would choose this place again but it was adequate and very reasonable for one night.

So many good vegetarian options. Very fulfilling. Staff was soooo good, I have stayed in multiple hotels across the world, but staff at Charles Hotel has been exceptional so far. Like I can't express in words how above and beyond they went to take care of me. One of the staff even lent me his phone charger as mine was lost. They also packed me food on my last day (all veg food) as I had an early flight to catch on. Like best best and best.

The Hotel Charles ticks all the boxes. It is close enough to the city. Restaurants, shopping, bars all walkable and the city centre is a 8 minute bus ride. The hotel staff were very helpful. Istvan and his team were great. Breakfast was also good.

The room I got #89 was a terrible room. Nothing like the photos published by the property. Squeaky doors, no working electrical outlets, you can use either the shower or the sink, because the faucet in the sink is also the shower, which is so weak. The “smart” TV isn’t working. There is a water kettle to in the kitchen area, no coffee or tea or anything, you’d have to buy your own from outside the hotel, and the big joke is that there are ZERO outlets to use, unless you take the kettle to the side of your bed and plug it in there in an unsafe way, is that supposed to be a joke? The faucet in the kitchen sink is broken and the nob comes out when you use, while it clearly shows that it does not belong to the faucet and was done poorly and quickly. Wifi is extremely weak and spotty and I ended up having to purchase data on my phone to use as a hotspot on my laptop so I can get some work done. I am not sure if the room they gave me was just so bad and because they saw 2 Middle Eastern looking men checking-in so they decided to give us their worst room or the entire hotel is like that. In any case, it was a terrible experience.

Excellent hotel. Located in a quite area but has easy and frequent accessibility to city centre.Rooms are comfortable and extremely spacious and also have a small kitchenette. Lavish Breakfast and with very good choices. Staff are extremely welcoming and very helpful. They go out of their way to help out in explaining the whereabouts and how to reach the prime sites.I would strongly recommend and give full stars rating

My partner and I were impressed by the cleanness of the room and the friendly nature of the staff. Additionally, it was very easy to get to and from the centre of Budapest from the hotel as there is a bus stop right outside. The only critique I can make is that some parts looked like they could use a little TLC, such as the windows and locks that seemed a little fragile. However, we were very happy with our stay!

The hotel located at a busy street. The traffic was terrible, and the noise was terrible. In addition, you will smell the not fully burnt oil out of the car engine. If you can stay with noise and very bad gas exhaustion, you can then consider it. Also the hotel is in the another side of main town. If you want to enjoy the main town, it is very inconvenient.

The hotel had a decoration straight out of the 90s. The bed was fairly comfortable. However, when we entered the room, we found the toilet dirty. Although we had paid for breakfast through Hotels.com, the hotel claimed it wasn’t included in our reservation and asked us to pay extra. Even though I contacted Hotels.com and they called the hotel, we were still not given breakfast. It was a complete disgrace. The staff were friendly and helpful, but I would never stay there again and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

My son and I stayed at hotel Charles for 3 nights during a trip to the city and cannot fault the staff for friendliness and politeness. On arrival our room door lock wasn't working, so we were upgraded to a bigger room at no extra cost - the only minor issues were that we were right next to the main road, so pretty noisy, but so tired after walking miles around the beautiful city, we actually slept through it! Our breakfast was lovely, great selection of different food and once again, the staff were lovely. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a clean, comfortable place to sleep and a great breakfast, with staff who are all exceptionally friendly and helpful.

I liked the fact that the hotel offers services liked selling transport tickets and airport assistant.
The accommodation location was convenient for buses and close to Central. But the hotel is on the main road and can get very noisy from vehicles driving passes.

Hotel facilities standard is poor, kitchen utilities were disappointed, kettle faulty, unsturdy pot handle, no chopping aboard, very few items that is usable.

Had terrible sleepness nights and bad back due to soft mattresses and awkward, stick out wooden bed frames which caused bruise on my legs.

The furnitures in the room were mixed and watched. We had two differences red oak dinning chairs and a very low black coffees table. I did made two requests for exactly what was on the website picture which didn't happen till half durations of our stayed.

For windows European/ UK buildings standard regulations testing for safety I believe it is a failed. The windows locks keeps coming loose and two large panels opened inwards. The external windows were never been cleaned and the requested to have its clean was being ignored.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has had some renovations but still a bit dated, which is fine by me just some pictures don’t represent that well but the room was nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was good, lots of selection. The only downside was we were not informed that the hotel restaurant was closed for the weekend prior to arrival or upon arrival. Overall great stay!

Great stay at Charles Hotel

The best thing about the Hotel Charles is the Bus stop Meszaros Utca which is right in front of the Hotel coming from downtown.
Going to downtown, bus stop Meszaros utca is right across the street from the Hotel.
Breakfast was great, room is huge and very spacious. We loved the little kitchen area.
However it is a very old Hotel, but is is well maintained, If you are looking for space, this is for you., If you are looking for grand and modern, this is not for you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and we also used their laundry facilities which was a plus.

The three room studio was spacious and good enough for our stay. The front desk staff was attentive and helpful, and tried hard to give us information about the hotel and amenities.

The room, however, is old and lacking a few essential elements. There were only a few working electrical outlets, so we had to unplug the bedside lamps to charge our phones and plug in the kettle. The kitchen had no outlets, so you couldn’t plug anything in there.

Overall, the spaciousness was nice but the hotel is old and shows a lot of west and tear.

A prime abord, on s'aperçoit que l'appartement est figée dans le temps (année50-60). Aucune rénovation, peinture, et division incompréhensible. Portes et murs inutiles. La coutellerie étais toute dépareillé et batterie de cuisine vieillie. Cuisine de 135X135cm. Douche dans un bain connecté au lavabo!!! Matelas à changé car accotté sur le sommier. Par contre, la propreté étais au rendez-vous. De plus, le service est exceptionnel en particulier l'homme qui nous a accuelli le jour de notre arrivée le 09 Octobre (nous n'avons pas noté son nom). Extrêmement bruyant si on laisse la fenêtre ouverte.

The front desk staff are amazing. The transportation arrangement the hotel books for guest is also great. The only reason for low rating was the beds were not made everyday. when you are on vacation that is one of the perks you look for. Also the sheets were coming off the mattress showing that the mattress was badly stained. It makes it hard to sleep on as you feel unhygienic. Bus stop is right across the street.

Very good value for money! We had a lovely room with a view. It’s really close to an Aldi, which is very convenient. Good public transport near. Great budget hotel.
Only “bad” things were:
- the pillows were really big. We couldn’t sleep on them and just used cushions
- a little bit old fashioned decor and furniture
- Wi-Fi was a tad slow (not as fast as 4G)

Overall, a great stay - very reasonable price. Staff were fantastic.

Room was clean. Cleaned every day while we were out. Small bottles of shower gel and a soap bar were provided in the room. Minibar was well stocked and prices were very reasonable. Only downsides were check-in being a very laborious process and my hotels.com status benefits weren’t honoured by the hotel but other than that it was great. The bus from across the hotel takes you straight into the city centre and taxis are easy and cheap.

Receptionists are very kind and helpful. Always smiling and ready to help. For sure, the best part of the hotel is the staff.

My only problem was the window blinds, there were kind of locked and it was no possible to close them, since sun is raising about 3:30am, it would be nice if the problem is fixed.
