Spa was nice a little busy but not overwhelming. Bar staff could show a lot more courtesy and some general hospitality. We were left just standing at the bar for 5 minutes without even being acknowledged until one of the waitress came off the floor to take our order, felt slightly uncomfortable like we weren’t welcome.

The staff are super friendly and we thought the reception staff were incredibly helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed and the decor is beautiful.
We loved the spa which was squeeky clean and my husband said the gym was well equipped.
We are looking forward to returning in better weather to enjoy the outside space.

My husband and I had a restful sleep…we didn’t try the spa as we were too tired after a long day however it looked good! The staff we encountered were all courteous and polite- the room was ok - there were cobwebs both in the room and in the bathroom - the radiator made gurgling noises all night causing quite a disturbed night. Access to the sauna and steam room very limited on Saturday which was very disappointing (which was all we had) due to a very large family party taking up most of beds and much of room in sauna and steam room for all of the time we were there so all in all it was not quite the stay we had hoped for. Thank you for finding us a room close to the spa.

We took our Jack Russell puppy with us and were a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews but from our experience this is a great hotel to take dogs. They’re welcome everywhere but the spa and all the staff made a fuss of him.

We didn’t check in until 10:30pm. Went to bed appx 12:30pm. The maids were loudly cleaning a room next door to us at 7:30am. Vacuuming clanking glasses etc slamming doors in the hall outside our room. We didn’t sleep at all from noise above us and outside or next to us Room 172. Thin walls. Also the blinds didn’t keep the room dark so there was light pollution which woke us up. There is no individual room temperature control like an ac fan or anything to prevent noise pollution from neighbors upstairs. It felt like we were in a giant bathtub with people clanking around us. We also paid for a garden view room but were not facing any garden. Towels were scratchy.

First room was freezing cold and filthy. Also not at all like the pictures on the website, very dated. Radiators had been turned off. I took photo's of all of the dust, cobwebs, dead insects and the filthy carpet. Hairs on the sheets. Turning on the radiators triggered the fire alarm! Several fire alarms later ( and having to stand outside in the cold) they decided to move me to another room. Much better decor, but sadly still the poor housekeeping standards. More photo's taken of dead insects, dust and....when I unrolled the saftey bath mat, brown water poured out and it stank and was stained. The lack of basic cleanliness put me off going to the spa, so I have no idea how good or bad that is. The bed was very comfortable, though. One of the reception team was nice - other people on that team need to up their game as their attitude was borderline rude. Also had to cope with drunken guests shouting until 3.a.m. in the morning! I was exhausted, which ruined my weekend as I had booked tickets to a local event the following day. You'd have to pay me to go back there. Certainly NOT a relaxing country house/spa hotel. Nowhere near 4* standard of housekeeping ( or decor in the 1st room) Ironically, there must be a septic tank or similar somewhere close to the entrance - so you are welcomed by the smell of its contents as you turn towards the hotel. Despite the beautiful tree lined entrance, it stinks! Sums the place up in my opinion!

I was quite disappointed with this hotel. I booked an executive suite for myself, husband and 3 year old. It was very small, carpet was very old and dirty, no tv in the bedroom and the th tht was in the lounge had no smart capabilities (no apps or ability to cast from our own devices).

The advertisement for this hotel is very misleading. Walking towards the beautiful main building, I saw the sign for Reception at the opposite end of the garden. The illusion was shattered. The entrance, corridors and rooms were no different to a Premier Inn, and as I'd paid £174 for this experience, I wasn't best pleased.
The insulation was poor so I heard every conversation through the door which was only 4' from the bed!!! The spa was nice although very busy so I ventured down early on Sunday morning. The pool water was cloudy which was a little disconcerting. Staff at the spa, Harry's cafe and the restaurant were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful.

One of the windows didn't close from the inside so my husband had to go outside and push it closed from there. When we woke up in the morning they were dripping in condensation. I did not have time to swim as I was attending a two days Conference.
The room I was staying in looked tired and requires an upgrade but before leaving Donna was kind enough to show me other rooms including the 3 rooms in the Manor House. I liked the executive suites and that will be my choice at my next visit.

Despite having a reservation for dinner in Harry's Bar, we were shunted off into the cafeteria/restaurant used for breakfast - no bar for pre dinner cocktail or post dinner coffee. So we might as well have booked into a Premier Inn.

We have stayed here a few times for work while we have been on a project within the area. It was lovely to be upgraded, would have been nice for my business partner to have had his room upgraded to. Perfect stay as always.

This is a beautiful setting. Unfortunately my motorcycle was knocked over in the car park by another guest after I had gone to bed. This caused considerable damage. The hotel staff were rather nonchalant and didn’t offer any CCTV footage. Although the reception staff offered apologies, I got the feeling that they were embarrassed about the whole thing and just wanted me to go away. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. However there was a really noisy wedding reception going on at the same time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the stables and would definitely consider returning. The rooms were tastefully decorated, and the amenities were a nice addition. However, the air-conditioning unit, which vented out the window, was less effective during our July visit, causing the room to warm quickly. I can only imagine how magical it must be during the cooler months, especially at Christmas!
The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the lovely restaurant had a diverse menu with plenty of options. We made some fond memories during our stay—thank you!

The staff were amazing, Harry’s Bar and grill staff, Michael, the barman, the host/maitre d, waitresses, Priya on reception, the wedding coordinators and bar staff were friendly and welcoming, extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous.
The rooms were lovely and very clean. The bed was really comfortable. The food was well cooked and presented, plenty of options for all and very tasty. The cocktails were delicious, especially the hotel specials.
