I stayed at Novotel Milton Keynes from 6–8 March 2026 (Room 229) and my experience was extremely poor and unacceptable for a 3-star hotel.

My experience:
•Night staff behaviour: When I requested assistance or a fan during the night, three male night staff were dismissive, silent, and stared at me, which was intimidating and made me feel harassed.
•Ignored communications: I sent a WhatsApp message around 2:30 a.m. asking for help, which appears to have been deleted or ignored by staff.
•Privacy breaches: Management referenced my friends’ room (Room 117) when discussing my stay, and housekeeping entered my room without my consent, which is a serious violation of privacy.
•Misleading in-room information: The room sheet stated I could purchase drinks during the night, but staff failed to provide assistance or offer alternatives.
•Unfulfilled requests: Despite requesting a fan at night, it was not delivered when requested, causing discomfort.

Hotel responses:
•The hotel refuses to refund in full
•Their emails included contradictory statements: initially claiming the fan was provided and that “another guest from the same room” requested one later, then claiming the fan went to Room 117 and my request was in the morning. I was the only guest in Room 229, so the “other guest” claim is false.
•The hotel also tried to justify refusing a full refund by claiming a mattress was left wet after check-out and noting that I extended my stay. Neither of these points is relevant

I used the whatsapp as indicated to try and get some support with the appalling noise levels from other guests, as there was no phone, and I was a solo traveller with a child, so unable to go to the desk in the middle of the night. No answer, no support, minimal sleep.
Other guests at breakfast had also had no sleep due to guest noise

The positives: big room, bed mostly comfortable, free parking; reasonable bar prices; decent breakfast.
The negatives: although big, room was horrible with tatty, ageing flat-pack wooden furniture and a bathroom made from preformed plastic units. Staff not particularly helpful - I asked for an additional duvet and was given a separate duvet and cover.
The whole hotel has the feel that they’re doing the absolute minimum possible.
I asked for an extra duvet and when it arrived, the staff member asked me if I was okay to put the duvet in the cover myself, I don’t start at a hotel to do that.

Parking when we arrived was easy, however later on in the evening it was difficult to park as the hotel was full, over the Halloween weekend.

Rooms were large, bed comfortable, but the room tea /coffee facility’s were a bit on the sparse side. Ie only 2 tea bags for two people staying over for the weekend.

Seating in the lobby is not comfortable and discourages you from staying too long. Bar prices are a bit expensive, as are many hotels.

Staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Information provided at check in stated that the restaurant would be open during the week and on a sunday food would be provided at the bar, but for the entire duration the food was only served at the bar, I'm unsure if the restaurant would of had a different menu but given it was a busy bank school holiday week, there would have been the foot fall to open the restaurant as expected. The menu was too limited for my 5 night business stay for me to enjoy the food, and items were unavailable for my entire duration, and there was no option to bill the room for my meals, a payment was required every time unlike at other chains i have stayed at within All.
2 separate days within my stay my key card stopped working, requiring me to return to reception. The 1st instance my replacement key also didn't work, so I had to return to reception again, the staff were friendly but the inconvenience wasn't appreciated. The 2nd day, the delay in entering my room was not appriciated as i was loaded with bags and requiered the restroom and did not wish to use the communal restroom after use the day before as 2 out of the 3 toilets were not left in a pleasent condition, this is a guest usage issue I understand. however having to go back down with my bags to reception when i have already puhed myself wasn't, and for the 2nd day in a row, i was very diapointed, only for the 2nd staff member not surving me to make a joke asking if i was on the correct floor..

Room was very clean, but a bit small considering we had a sofa bed as well as a bed in it. There wasn’t much room to move around compared to what I’ve experienced in other hotels with a room this size. The room had a separate toilet from the bathroom which was handy when there is a few of you!
Gym was well equipped for a quick workout, the pool was a tad on the cold side and quite busy. You have to book a slot which is something you don’t find out until you check in.
Overall a pleasant stay for 1 night.

Stayed 5 nights in a cold room with no heating. A technician was not sent to address the issue and room was not changed instead they brought me a heater that was ineffective. I set the temperature to 30 before speaking to front desk and it blew cold air and made the room colder. I arrived in good health at the hotel and left with a head cold and excessive coughing.

Please point out to persons booking in that they MUST register their car for overnight parking within 20 minutes. There are signs but it's very easy to overlook this whilst booking in after a very long day driving. Just a reminder from the desk staff whilst booking in would save trying to cancel the £100 fine for forgetting

Breakfast was a let down food not very hot bacon full of fat eggs old and stale juices water down so much might as well drunk water.my hot drink not hot at all Evening meal not better ordered chicken burgers they were deep fried and rock hard swimming in grease.Bar area full of tv screens not exactly a relaxing time. On our returned after day out we were locked out of our room reception offered no apology or explanation just do you want both room cards done. The bed was the only great thing my husband was cold had to ask for a heater he came back with the smallest heater did nothing to heat us up. Nice to have fridge. We will not be coming back to your hotel any time soon

The room smelt of wee, they did reluctantly change out room to which we were presented with a damp room . We were then kept up all night to boy racer meet in car park , which they were staying in the hotel. We complained again. Also 5am in the morning the car park was still loud and full of boy racers

We only stayed for 1 night, the hotel was clean and comfortable, i feel like the rooms could do with updating to go with the rest of the hotel, but no issues with the room otherwise, wasnt noisy either

I did not like anything about the stay. My room was 243. The bathroom had a strong urine smell. The room had a smoky smell to it. The carpet was heavily stained with an odour. The curtains were hanging off the rails. No telephone in room to ring reception. The bed was uncomfortable and set off my sciatica to the point I had to go to the hospital. My mum slipped and fell coming out the shower as the hotel had no bath mats! I want a refund and im looking forward to hearing back from you soon!

All hotel staff were polite, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Our room and the majority of the hotel and its facilities were spotlessly clean. The hotel food was excellent. The breakfast was quite expensive considering it was not included, but there was a wide choice of options for every dietary requirement.
Not a major issue, but the area of the gym used for stretching (which was located behind the machines was quite dusty in the corners and they could do with some new mats in that area. The two that were there were quite worn, but just a small detail which may only be noticed by someone who does a lot of floor exercises!
Other than this minor detail, I can definitely recommend this hotel.

Wonderful staff and lovely hotel.

I love this place! The layout is so welcoming! The pool is lovely and clean. The bar area is cosy, and the restaurant is set out nicely with a lovely ambiance.
The breakfast was delicious and really well cooked.
The staff are just exceptional! Absolutely every single person we spoke to could not do enough to help, and nothing was a problem. I had a knee replacement 2 weeks before our stay, and had not realised I’d need an accessible room, and although the first night they had none available, first thing next morning they moved us to one.
This is one of the friendliest hotels I’ve ever stayed, and it’s totally down to the wonderful staff. Omar… you were brilliant! As was the lovely chap who helped me out of the taxi last night just as he was leaving his shift. Thank you all so much x

A very tired hotel from my room perspective. Probably designed and built during the eighties and had little renovation or decoration since.
Breakfast designed around a workmans hours from 06:30 until 09:00 so missed my first breakfast.
Pool operated consistently for outdoor clientele parent & baby seems to dominate. Avoid!
Extremely overpriced and poor quality throughout, better value for much less available widely. Premier Inn as an example.
EV Charging overpriced too for fast-charge, MFG over the road better value.
Overall the Hotel has a recurrent theme of poor quality and over valuing there hospitality. Personally I would avoid.

Okay - shame about the sexism in the billing

The room was clean and pleasant. The staff at reception were exceptionally helpful. The bed was too close to the wall so limited space to climb in and out. The tap was very tight and difficult to pull out the 'knob' to get water out of the shower head. Most annoying was to receive a bill with my title as 'Mr' when I'm female. Why do you need to use titles at all. Just firstname secondname would be fine. Are women not allowed to book hotel rooms?

A nice option outside of MK Central

After 20-plus years coming to Milton Keynes and using the town as a sort-of \"home base\" for my broader travels in England, this was my first time staying at Novotel MK. For the most part, I had a very positive stay. The location was just on the edge of town...quieter than my usual MK Central hotel locations, and an easier drive in and out with ample on-site parking. But it was not a short or easy walk to the central shops and restaurants, something I'm used to...especially for stays longer than a night or two. However, the in-hotel restaurant had good food at reasonable rates. It also had a nice bar and lounge are, but drinks were on the more expensive side.

The staff throughout the hotel were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. However, there was one area where the hotel fell short, in my opinion. The room did not have ANY dedicated mobile device USB or USB C charging ports. So, you only had one handy regular electrical outlet at the desk for use to charge your devices. I'm retired but am a writer, so I have my mobile phone, as well as my laptop, a tablet, and a smart watch. This is not uncommon these days, especially for a hotel that caters to a heavy weekday, traveling worker crowd. So, this lack of basic update—which I've thankfully had in all of my other hotel experiences in Milton Keynes, both in the more basic and more luxurious properties—is enough to question whether I'd return for anything more than a one-night stay.
