I’ve stayed at this hotel twice now, and both times I felt safe during my stay, which is always a top priority. That said, the surrounding area isn’t the best, and it does seem like there may be some long-term residents on the property.

On the positive side, the staff has been consistently friendly and welcoming at check-in, which made the experience smoother. The rooms were clean during both of my stays, which I really appreciated.

One downside is that in the building I stayed in, there was no working elevator, which could be inconvenient depending on your needs. Overall, it’s a decent option for a short stay, especially if you’re looking for something affordable and clean.

The bed was so hard, it made my back and hips hurt. The bathroom is missing a plug for the sink and bathtub which was concerning. Also, most hotels have a list of the TV channels or there is a guide button on the remote , there was neither in this room.

The hallways smelled weird. However once in your room it smelled nice. No comforter. Just a thin blanket with sheet on top. Could hear the road traffic. Breakfast was watery powdered eggs and very thin gravy with biscuits.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Lions Hotel restaurant. From the moment we were seated outside, the service was extremely slow, even though the restaurant was not busy at all.

It took quite a while for our server, Juan, to even come by to take our drink order, and the wait continued for both drinks and food. What was most frustrating was how long it took to get something as simple as ranch—I asked for it and it took about 10 minutes to arrive. By that point, I had already finished my meal, so it was completely pointless and I ended up leaving it on the table untouched.

In addition to the slow service, Juan came across as pushy and somewhat rude when we asked for things. Instead of making the experience better, his attitude made it uncomfortable.

Another concern was the noticeable lack of security. There didn’t seem to be any staff presence monitoring the area, which made the environment feel a bit uneasy and not as safe or well-managed as it should be.

Overall, the lack of attentiveness, long wait times, poor customer service, and lack of security really took away from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. I expected much better and unfortunately would not return or recommend this place based on this visit.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise and a real hidden gem, as it turned out to be the repurposed former Air Force guest rooms at the old McClellan Air Force Base, giving the stay a fascinating layer of military history with buildings that still carry that vintage vibe. The room itself was wonderfully quiet, spotlessly clean, and genuinely comfortable exactly what you want after a long day while the on-site Officers Club restaurant and bar stood out as a highlight, offering great food, a fantastic atmosphere, and that classic club feel. Plus, if you’re into aviation, the nearby Aerospace Museum of California is an absolute must-visit, packed with super cool historic aircraft and exhibits just a short trip away, making this a peaceful, comfortable spot with unique character, excellent dining, and easy access to cool sights. Highly recommended!

Room was dirty…furniture was very worn and dirty. Coffeemaker was terrible. Staff at check in was not friendly at all or knowledgeable. Website says there’s a local gym that hotel guest can use she knew nothing about it and did not offer to find out the information for us.Carol in the restaurant bar was great! Very friendly and helpful.

Elegant in a funky, retro way with the old buildings, and modern decor. Feels dignified and historic. Tue airplane murals on the walls excited my husband, I kinda liked the retro crystal lampshades. Made for a quirky visual combo that somehow worked. Loved it there! It's an old military officer's base, pretty cool.

I informed the manager that I was medically ill and I was checking in to get some rest. I was immediately met with some disrespect from the receptionist that checked me in that’s how I ended up talking to the manager,once I got to my room, I fell asleep and I woke up and it was 11:30 PM and I needed something to eat. Everything was closed nearby. I didn’t want fast food and I ended up going to a local store that was open I purchased the frozen chicken burrito which I really didn’t want, but I needed something to eat. Upon arriving back at my room, I went to heat up the burrito and the door was locked on the microwave. Once I set my burrito in and tapped three minutes the door had a LOC. Display on the front of the microwave. I tried several times to open it and before breaking it and jeopardizing keep my deposit. I called the front desk and the clerk showed up and he was really helpful. However, it took him a while to replace the microwave because he had to assist individuals at the front desk as well as go find another microwave in a different room so my microwave didn’t get switched out till 1247 a.m. that’s when I finally got the chance to finish heating up my burrito and eating it which by that time it was 1:35am I informed the manager about my situation and my inability to get sleep and all she was able to do in Her words was give me a late check out. In my opinion I felt like she could've comped me an extra night

We were at tournaments in Lions Gate and it was a very convenient stay. They had a kitchenette clean bathroom and clean bedding. Somewhat of a tight space but decent for the price. Breakfast was included. Nothing fancy but convenient and clean. It’s condo style.
Staff are nice breakfast is buffet style.

AC DOESNT WORK AT ALL. Inrequested a fan and was brought one but the building is old so unless its pointed on you at all times it will kot keep the room cool. My window's opened up fine, but couldn't keep them opened because im on the first floor and people can see right in the room to the bed. These room was clean bed a little on the harder side and squeaks. Staff was amazing and nice, the other guests were nice always said hello or good morning. Breakfast was ok, same thing scrambled eggs, sausage patties biscuits gravy, and fried potatoes, toast, bagels, waffles, yogurt and cereal or oatmeal, hot tea coffee orange juice or apple juice. I need my room cold all night, so I probably wont stay here again. But it is a good place to stay if you dont need the cold to sleep.

As I was making my way to Sacramento from Southern California, I carefully reviewed ratings and locations near the airport and came across Lion’s Gate. The reviews were outstanding, and it seemed like a solid, convenient choice and it absolutely lived up to (and exceeded) expectations.

As I entered the neighborhood, I immediately recognized the street signs and thought, “This feels like a military base.” It turns out Lionsgate sits on the former McClellan Air Force Base property. The history is still beautifully present. The former Officers’ Club is now a restaurant and bar, still proudly bearing the name.

As someone retired from the Coast Guard, there was something deeply comforting about staying on this property. The sense of history, service, and community was palpable in the best possible way. My room was quiet, warm, and comfortable.

The rate was very reasonable, parking was free (a huge plus), and everything I needed was right there. Breakfast begins early which I truly appreciate as an early riser and it was a full, warm breakfast served with genuine hospitality.

Lionsgate offers tremendous value, a unique setting rich with history, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I will absolutely stay here again on my regular trips to and from Southern California.

We checked in at 11PM and checked out at 6:30AM - so didn't really get to see much of the hotel in day light or use the facilities. But our short experience was good. The room was nice and cute, the breakfast was pretty good too. The staff seemed courteous.

People sleeping above me were blasting music until 3am when I had to call front desk i had to get up at 6am and at 5 am they were scrubbing something and showering/flushing toilets literally never slept. Also smoking and it clearly says no smoking within 25 yards. in front 2 men with doors open were fixing a car and smoking I couldn't even get in my car to pack up and leave and I felt unsafe although i usually really like this hotel I think security and curfew should have been better. Cold water also didn't work at kitchen sink to fill/drink water. Breakfast was great. Again I normally like it here we use it during volleyball tournaments with our family but this was not a good visit.

The room was clean. Service was great. The shower from above leak like I was showering in the bathroom. Offered to move our room but this was difficult as we were leaving very early and getting back late. Don’t get room 3126! The manager was to call me and never followed up with me. Moved 4 times unloading , loading n putting away. No tv, no maintenance staff in evening, etc. Etc etc. Got assigned an executive 2 bedroom suite
Room was great, no access to locked room for ice
It was what I expected as far as everything in working order.in all rooms
No housekeeping seen for 2 days.

The heater in our room was broken. The inside temp was 54 degrees. (Outside 44) When I let the staff know, they said they knew it was broken, and didn't usually book that room, but as it was a busy weekend they did! Unbelievable to put someone in a room with a broken heater! I have attempted to speak with a manager and haven't heard back!!

The first picture on this site is of the hot tub. So I booked thinking we would be able to relax in the hot tub after a 16 hour drive. Well it’s closed for the season!!!!! That’s terrible!! Then we get our room and it looks like someone was murdered on the couch! A tan couch all red and disgusting. There was someone else’s black hair all in the shower. Do not recommend

Staff was courteous. We were in the Madrone building, and after running the heater for awhile discovered it wasn't making a difference. Called front desk and they provided a couple extra blankets and a portable electric heater, admitting there has been an issue with the heat.
If we weren't in a hurry to make a dinner date, we would have requested a better room.
While clean, the bed was uncomfortable & the room stayed cold for quite awhile.
Awesome price & free parking and friendly staff, but we won't visit again.
