⭐ 4-Star Review – Important Tips for Future Guests

If you’re coming to Colmar during the Christmas Market season, be aware that Uber or taxis may NOT be able to drop you off directly in front of the hotel. The streets around the hotel are closed to traffic, so even with Uber we still had to walk about 100 yards with our luggage. It wasn’t a huge problem, but travelers with mobility issues should absolutely keep this in mind.

We stayed in Le Colombier Suites, which is located across a small pedestrian pathway from the main hotel. The space itself is beautiful and charming, but there is no elevator in the Suites building. The staircases are narrow and can be difficult, especially with suitcases. One of the employees kindly helped us carry our luggage up, but the front desk told us this service isn’t always available. If you have mobility concerns, I strongly recommend booking in the main hotel instead of the Suites.

Another thing to know ahead of time: restaurants around the hotel are in extremely high demand during Christmas Market season. Most places were fully booked months in advance. We ended up eating sushi nearby (which was decent), and the next day, after asking around for about 30 minutes, we finally found an Italian restaurant that had space for walk-ins. Plan your dinner reservations well ahead of your trip if food is important to you and you don’t plan on eating street food.

This would be a 5-star review, except it had no elevators.

A surprisingly modern and spacious hotel with a luxurious feel, directly in the middle of the very charming old town. What a privilege to stay there. We were there during the Easter market, so we just went outside the hotel and were in the middle of it all. Great breakfast, and just wonderful.

This hotel is excellent for its price. It exceeded my expectations, and all the staff were friendly. The cozy spaces capture the local atmosphere beautifully while maintaining a stylish vibe. Waking up to the sound of birds in the morning was truly delightful. The view from the room was beautiful and peaceful.
The room was spacious, and the separation of the bed, desk, and bathroom areas made it even more comfortable. If I visit Colmar again, I would definitely want to stay here once more.

A great stay close to Christmas markets!

Hotel le Columbier and Columbier Suites are both located literally a softball toss from the Lauch River, actually in La Petite Venis and the heart of historic Colmar. You couldn't get closer to historic Alsace than this.
And the hotels are both fantastic. The decor, staff, breakfast, wifi and amenities are first rate. The staff is friendly, professional, and unobtrusive.
Our suite was in a building dating from the 1500s, wich exposed timbers yet completely modern.

A great place in a beautifully restored, wonderfully decorated historic building in the heart of Colmar, steps —and I mean like 30 or less—from Le Petite Venis. The service was exceptional. The room was very cool, with exposed timbers from the 16th century. Quiet, comfortable, luxurious—I don’t know more we could have wanted.

Christmas Market night 2

Parking availability was limited due to the Christmas market. Hotel recommended a parking platz that was just a short walk away. The only issue we had was finding the hotel check-in lobby, as the address listed was for 1 of the 3 buildings that this hotel has. Other than that, the check-in was smooth, room was comfortable and location, can't be beat, right in the middle of town, literally walked out the door of building into the qaint streets of Colmar.

Le Colombier Suites - Superior Room

Booked a superior room in Le Colombier Suites. The space was very big and clean. It is an old building where the rooms have been renovated nicely. Ultimately the stay was enjoyable, however, there were definitely aspects that made it less than ideal.
- During a four day stay, the WiFi was out of commission for 1.5 of those days.
- The beds are very springy and feel old. They are uncomfortable unless you sleep on your back.
- The door handle on the bathroom door was broken and had no lock. The only way to seal the door was to effectively slam it shut.
- There did not seem to be an elevator in the building (not a problem for us, but could be for many)
- The air conditioning is weak and centralized with little to no control given to the rooms. We were lucky that the weather outside was cool.
- They were doing renovations during our stay that began early in the morning and were fairly loud from the room.
- The safe in the room was poor quality and was difficult to seal and reopen consistently.
- Not every staff member is able to accommodate your requests. We asked in the evening about a later checkout and were told to ask again to the individual who would be working in the morning.
- You will likely not get a response to any inquiries via email.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, but Colmar is small so it does not make too much of a difference where you stay.
Overall you would expect more for the money especially when considering the offering of around town.

I appreciated the fact I was able to book a nice room via hotels.com during the Christmas market in Colmar only 3 weeks earlier. I called not long after to confirm the parking situation and was told parking \"would not be an issue\". Upon arriving the receptionist asked if I reserved a parking spot which is when i knew i had a major problem especially during the Christmas market. I spent 30 minutes looking for parking to then find out the room was not ready at 1500 per advertised expectations. While tge hotel is very nice, my specific situation was disappointing especially when spend over $1,000 for the night.

Hotel Parking is offsite, and was full when we arrived. We paid for meters in the meantime. The room was very small, and split level (lots of stairs), and on the 3rd floor (no elevator). Very small fitness area, but nice sauna. Location is great for old town, but otherwise lacks the comfort and convenience I expect from an expensive, 4 star hotel.

LOTS OF HAIR ON AND UNDER THE SHEETS! SO DIRTY!

When we first got there, our first room was stinking. The carpets were really dirty, thats why it stinks. Then we wanted to change the room and staff at reception said that it is not posaible to change on that day. We waited for her to go, and asked another staff at the reception like it is our first time asking, and she changed the room immediately without asking. The second room didn’t have carpet. So it was not stinking however It was definetely worse because when we opened the bed for sleeping, we have counted 8-9 MAN HAIR in the sheets with 2-3 long woman hair. We called the reception and a old guy (night shift) came and we showed him. All together we changed the sheets at 4 star hotel! Like we do at our home! He wanted our help. While we were changing, We couldn’t believe the dirtyness because there were LOTS OF SMALL ANG LONG HAIR under the sheet! It was the worst stay at a 4 star hotel!

Our room on third floor had very sloped ceilings so the room was hard to use. The telephone did not work and could not be fixed after problem was reported, making it hard to contact front desk from third floor walk-up.
The room key malfunctioned and again a long walk to correct.
Wi-fi did not work except rarely and was almost useless.
I would not stay here again unless on a lower floor.

The only potential drawback was that some of the river-side rooms were across the very quaint pedestrian walkway from the main building. So, this could be a slight inconvenience during inclement weather. That being said, it was close to everything and overall really wonderful service.

Location is ideal - directly between Quai de la Poissonaire (half a block one way) and Le Petit Venise (half a block the other way). There are two buildings (separated by a narrow alley) and the address on this narrow alley is actually the back entrance (where you have to have someone buzz you in). The main entrance (which is NOT what the address shows) is on the opposite side by the large public parking area. I was in the building opposite the lobby and the stairs are steep and narrow with no elevator. It was not a problem for me but if you have mobility issues (including carrying luggage up steep stairs) be sure to ask for ground floor. Room was quite comfortable and had a nice modern yet charming feel. Shower is connected directly to main room with no separate doors. If you are sharing a room and privacy is a concern then you may need to look elsewhere. But as a solo traveler I loved the room and would gladly stay here again.

Our bedroom AC had a constant drip. The carpet was very wet, which prompted us to request and use at least 4 extra bath mats daily to cover the wet area of carpet. A repair person came in at least twice, but, drip never stopped. As we dealt with this our entire stay (4 nights) we mentioned to staff at checkout that it would be nice if they would comp our breakfasts. However, we were charged full amount for our 4 breakfasts.

There may be good rooms at this hotel, but we didn't have one. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but we had some issues with the room. The internet signal was very weak and almost unusable. Parking in early July, that is before the French summer vacation kicks in, was already a chore. I am not sure you can find a spot between mid July and mid August. Also, address on Expedia sends customer to back door.

Overall, an excellent hotel in a gorgeous town. Service was extremely friendly and professional. We stayed in a deluxe room in the newly-renovated \"Suites.\" The room was very clean, modern, with a huge TV, air-conditioning, great shower. The beds were comfortable. The location was perfect...Petite Venice is right outside the door and the city center is about a 5-minute walk. Parking was easy - free on one side of the street. We were able to leave our car in our spot for the duration of our trip for free without any problems. Highly recommend!! Just one general note for the town of Colmar: if possible, try to plan your trip by avoiding Sundays or Mondays. Most of the restaurants are closed on these days! We will definitely stay at this hotel again!

Definitely recommend!

I loved this hotel. It was in a great location next to Little Venice, and the room was very unique. We had a suite with a loft, very comfortable with lots of room. Lots of charm in the room as well. I'm not usually a person who cares much about the room, I'd rather be out sightseeing, but we almost cancelled our follow on plans just to spend another day in the room. I'd definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

Beautiful!
Wonderful suites located in the heart of Colmar. We were welcomed by the most helpful staff and even our dog got a little something upon arrival. We’re so pleased with the location as well as the interior. If we’re ever in Colmar again, we’ll be staying here.

Wunderschön!

Wunderschönes Haupthaus mit Innenhof und sehr geschmackvollem Frühstücksrestaurant!
Zimmer schön und geräumig....aber etwas verschlissen und eher soft-renoviert!
Aber ich komme wieder!
