We’ve stopped in other premier classe motels for overnights in France before, so know they’re cheap and basic but this one was truly awful.

Outside style strip light for lighting the room was blinding. Beds had rubber mattresses. Mold and worn out fittings. Shower was taped together, there’s no way we could have showered anyway the bathroom on our ferry going to France was far more spacious!

Got online and booked somewhere in Calais to stop instead.

Receptionist was friendly which was its only plus point.

This was a very cheap hotel for one night and so you cannot expect very much but it was not great. Staff were very lovely and helpful, but the room smelled odd, the bathroom did not lock and the bathroom was not clean. I have stayed in similar hotels before which were cheap and cheerful but at least clean and maintained. A shame, just needs a bit of TLC

There was only one pillow and no towels in the room when we arrived. The light switch was hanging off the wall exposing the wires. The plastic cover over the light was broken leaving a sharp edge and exposed wires. The cover was missing from the light in the bathroom.

Don't bother, needs complete overhaul, had to ask for room water cups and soap for holder. Cistern filling all night every 20 mins. Had single beds placed awkwardly so could not sit supported anywhere! No butter at breakfast. Definitely a don't care attitude.

Great - but...

The hotel is all that I expected - I have stayed in a gret many formula hotels - including Premiere Classe. However, the breakfast bar was not up to the usual standard and for that reason, I will not be using this particular location again. That said, it's very close the motorway sliproad - but when I have to drive for three hours to get to my next meeting, I would prefer to start the day with a proper breakfast.

Shabby room which is in serious need of an upgrade/refurb. There was no WiFi until later in the day as the first receptionist was not sure how to activate it. We asked for a bottle of water but was told that there was none, nor any other drinks available. He did not speak much English but Google translate was useful for us both. The beds - singles - were about 2 feet wide, foam mattress and extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom pod had seen better days, the window had a broken catch so could not safely be left open. There was nowhere to put anything. Unfortunately, we had a two night booking and our key card stopped working the next morning. We had to wait several hours for the main receptionist to clock on before it could be reactivated and we could go out for what remained of the day. Both receptionists were friendly but receptionist 1 needs more training before being left in charge. This was our third, and last, Premiere classes. They have all been a bit grim in one way or another and we shall never darken their doorsteps again. Shame, although given how bad they were, they were not that cheap!

Has gone downhill

We have opted to stay here on short breaks but it has now gone down to just a hostel I am afraid, had to ask for towels floors dirty, no cover on bed (cold) and bins never emptied, we came on return and they were just the same. Rubbish flying everywhere.
Outside also very unkempt, weeds everywhere although at least we had a quilt on the bed on return. Seems no attention or care taken. Really gone downhill.

I would advise against staying at this property. The room I was allocated (27) was tiny, had ancient fittings, smelly and the surfaces in the room were filthy - coffee cup stains etc. The shower taps had no indication of hot or cold and took ages to balance.
I had 2 dogs which when I fed them, the room smelled better - from the cans being opened!
The receptionist was disinterested and bored. I did not stay for the breakfast, and left early in the morning after a poor nights sleep.
The only adequate points were convenience, nice clean sheets and pillow cases - but the bedcover was stained.

I wonder why any site has this place on their website - they all do!! - perhaps they ought to stay there? It was bad even for a budget motel. In hindsight I should have complained, but after travelling most of the day - I really wanted to just get a rest. Having said that - the thought of dealing with 'Mr Personality' at reception...really didn't appeal.

If you are considering it - don't even if it is a bit cheaper.

These hotels are not great, but their prices reflect this. If your room costs £30 then you reallt shouldnt expect much.

I'm not a snob so I dont mind staying in a Premier Classe when I'm on a long journey in France. They're fine when you arrive late and leave early.

Check in was easy on the machine at midnight, although the floor in the room was very cold. We left the heating on full overnight yet the room never really got hot.

Smoking - It is a hotel in France it seems they allow smoking in all rooms.
Temperature - bring warm clothes, as room is not pre-heated for you and the heater is not adequate for the room. It will take all night to heat the room to 16C and then they turn the heater off at 8am remotely.
Room access - similar to US motel design. No lifts. Front door does not lock. Maid access early in the morning without knocking.

After the hotel had been closed for 2 years expected to have been refurbished-no! Just repainted badly. The shower was falling off the wall in the shower cubicle. There were no shutters on the windows. Only positive thing was the new bed and bedding.
Nearest junction on the A16 was closed.

it's cheap, it's basic, it's right by the motorway. That's why I use it. But the internet is unreliable and on the morning of checkout it refused to let me sign in again, and no fresh bread at breakfast was rather annoying as well as unusual, no apology or explanation either. 5 euros for a very basic selection is fine but the choice seems to get less every time I stay. The car park surface continues to deteriorate and the area is way too small and cramped for the number of vehicles needing to use it and unless you arrive early you will not even get in. Staff are generally friendly and helpful on reception and rooms are clean but no luxuries or air con and depending on your neighbours can be noisy.

This is a budget class hotel. Absolutely adequate for our needs. 5 mins from the motorway, close to restaurants. It is clean and tidy and the staff if you need them are helpful and professional.
We will stay here again as a stopover on our journey to our house in the Dordogne.

We regularly stay here on route South from Calais or before the morning ferry back to England. It's conveniently located, cheap and comfortable. There are no frills - it's a bed for the night and breakfast in the morning. We love that we can arrive any time of night, retrieve the key card from the machine and go straight in with our dogs. External doors so you don't have to go inside a lobby or to a Reception. No faffing about - get in and sleep! It's very cheap so if you're happy with basic then go for it. If you expect more, pay more.

An older style Premiere Classe with access to the rooms from the outside. Rooms themselves need updating. Shabby and grubby. Patches of mould in places, cigarette burn on sink, very dirty on the inside of the TV remote control holder, window shutter didn't work. The only plug socket is halfway up the wall next to the toilet/shower room door, so charging cables are left dangling and phones and iPads, etc, need to be precariously placed on the edge of the bed or next to the sink. I took a travel kettle but daren't use it for fear of knocking it and boiling water going everywhere. I've stayed in lots of Premiere Classes and this was not the worst. I stayed in one last year where the door kept coming open. But there are better ones. I don't mind tolerating them for a cheap overnight stop though. Positives this time were a friendly member of staff on arrival and a seaview!

I use this hotel for its location and price, it's basic and acceptable in terms of comfort, always clean, helpful reception staff, but oh dear the standard of other guests can be a trial as can the parking with the tiniest and most cramped spaces you can imagine. This time I suffered a domestic argument in the car park which had repercussions in a neighbouring room, a procession of people traipsing up and down the stairs, out on the walkways talking, and two families arriving at 1.30am manoeuvring cars and chattering in the car park. This is not the fault of the hotel at all but inconsiderate guests can obviously affect your stay, and the design of this hotel certainly means that can happen. Don't stay here for a quiet night or a proper rest. Or secure, fast wi-fi.

The car park was full because there were a lot of vans that were too big for the parking spaces, so a lot of room was lost and there was no-one monitoring the parking so people were finding it very difficult.
The shower room door would not shut properly and there was no plug for the hand basin.

Have always used chain as a convenient budget stop over hotel when travelling and usually its fine. On this occasion we had significant issues. Check in was fine, very helpful lady with a friendly smile but then.... We have a technical problem (washing machine is broken), we don't have any towels and there are no pillowcases on the beds! Ok, given room key, we can manage we thought so go to the room but then cant access the bathroom as door is jammed. Change rooms which is clean and sheets on bed (no pillowcases) but the toilet is defective and is continuously filling up all night. Bottom line is we managed a nights sleep in clean conditions but I kid you not, I'm sure I saw Basil hiding behind reception when we left!

The guy on reception was pleasant and helpful.
The shower/toilet was small but everything worked.the hot water tap actually had hot water in it which is a bonus!

There is no kettle or coffee maker in the room, but there is a machine in reception. There is also a local room supplement tax payable when you turn up. (Think it was about €0.50 per person per night.)

Great to listen to other rooms conversations!

You don't need a glass! -just lie in bed and hear what they say -or do. as others say paper thin walls but location easy to find and if you want to crash it will do . Very overdue for a make over
