Our stay here was part of a larger trip and a transition night. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area is lovely and the view from our room delightful. The Regina has a wonderful open atrium area. The hotel itself is a grand old lady but she could use a bit of updating and modernizing. A good stop overall.

Otherwise wonderful location, nice walk to beach and town. Hotel as charming as the town -- be sure to reserve your parking spot!! They have limited space

Lovely older building that has been updated and is very funky. Beautiful location however a little distance from city centre. Well appointed but not extravagant for the cost. Only issue we had was room had flies all over walls and was not checked prior to check in - issue was addressed once brought to staffs attention. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.

We were a bit disappointed in the staff at the hotel as a couple of requests were declined - early check-in and late check out (an hour). The hotel itself is fairly nice and the sea views were beautiful. The location of the hotel is outside the busy city core which can be difficult when looking for meals outside of the hotel.

We only stayed one night enroute home to the UK from The Algarve but we loved this hotel. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the hotel is beautiful and well located for the beach and a short walk to the busy shopping area. We pre booked to park and were able to charge our car which was much appreciated. We ate in the Hôtel restaurant and the food and service were outstanding. We are already planning to return.

I cannot urge you enough to stay elsewhere. Go to the Sofitel down the street, or better yet, go to the Palace. This hotel is not up to standard. The staff is extremely young and does not know how to work or run an upscale hotel. It's a \"shell\" of a hotel. Pretty on the outside, but the service is repugnant.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Regina, and especially loved our time in Biarritz. I wouldn’t consider this a 5 star hotel (especially after staying at the hotel du Palais down the street) but it was a nice boutique hotel with generally friendly staff. As far as areas for improvement- the pool was quite small and our room was very basic for a “premier” room. The hotel also did not acknowledge our recent engagement we were celebrating, which all the other hotels on our trip did with enthusiasm.

We went with an Ocean Deluxe room and many features of room are extremely impractical or badly designed. In fact many areas of the hotel just seem to be badly designed from eating in the atrium restaurant being uncomfortable, to the pool beds having the most manual lift and the cabanas completely blocking out sun for both users.

The service was mostly fairly unwelcoming and doesn’t go above and beyond, this might be cultural but with it being a so called 5 star hotel it mostly should be better. Fairly apparent when we sat by the pool and 4.45 staff came over and told us “as a reminder the pool closes at 5pm for a private function.” This was not a reminder, it was the first we heard of it and we were there all afternoon, something like this on what was a good day in bad week for weather should have been over communicated.

Finally, the prices within the hotel are a complete over priced and whilst this is same in all hotels the Regina seems to have gone even further especially given the food quality and options are poor.

This is a 4 star hotel at best. Look forward to coming back to Biarritz but certainly not to this hotel

Horrible Customer Service

I booked a room overlooking the ocean and the room was nice. It would have been a nice experience if the customer service was not so terrible. It was to the point where I felt very uncomfortable. I am a widow and booked a trip with my two young daughters. I booked an upgraded room that stated it fit 3 people. When I checked in the people at the front desk wanted me to pay extra money for one of my daughters even though I showed them that the room stated it would accommodate 3 people (which I booked and paid extra for to accommodate our family of 3). They were very dismissive and rude.
The next morning I asked if I could check out an half hour late and they would not give me any extra time despite it being a Tues and the hotel being obviously empty.
Also the food was extremely overpriced for what it was. Not great or every that good.
I had stayed across the street at a 4 star hotel for a couple nights prior and the stay and customer service there was incredible. Unfortunately the “customer service” at this hotel was so bad that I felt very uncomfortable staying there and regret the booking.

The staff are out of this world at the Regina. Truly above and beyond. We ended up dropped off on a bus stop outside of town with no directions at taxi and site. They sent a car for us without question and we’re completely helpful warm and knowledgeable for our entire stay. I had the Regina 22 years ago and never forgotten it. My family and I have fond memories of it from 2002 and could not wait to get back there. It’s now been renovated in a very cool style with flickers of the grand Budapest. hotel and still very unique, and one of a kind. you did not disappoint. I won’t wait so long to come back the next time. And a grand merci à toutes et tous.! c’était vraiment magnifique

There was no bellboy at check in and the elevator from the parking to the lobby was not working so the 90-pound lady receptionist and yours truly had to become weight lifters. The air conditioning didn’t cool the room at all. We received a small refund at check out but that didn’t make up for our disappointment.

The positives are the staff who were all very attentive and helpful. Our room was very nice and comfortable as was the bed. The hotel is five star, it looks lovely, especially the atrium where they play music until around 10pm. It is very well presented, despite ongoing work on the upper floors and the grounds. Nobody mentioned this.

The negatives are many due to the concentration on form rather than function. These are all little things but they add up.

The cups in the rooms have no handles so you can’t touch them when hot; the cups for breakfast are very small but the staff are happy to refill; the shower has to run for a long time to reach “warm” not even hot; the bar and stools have nowhere for your feet to rest on, and they don’t have the right glasses for g&t or cocktails which, given the prices, needs correcting; the cutlery is very strange with its “patina”; the sun loungers are very comfortable but even moving the back or putting up the shade is not for the faint hearted.

It’s a 10-15 minute walk downhill into the centre or the beach. The beach was very, very busy. The walk back always seemed shorter.

Our room was nice and well-appointed. The hotel puts a beach bag and two beach towels in the room, so you are ready to walk to the beach. The lobby is beautiful, with plenty of space to eat, drink, or relax. On some nights, there is music in the lobby. Biarritz is hilly, but as long as you don't mind hills, you can walk anywhere you need to go in the city. If you have a car, parking is available on-site for a small fee. The pool is nice, with plenty of seating, and a staff member periodically comes out to take your order. The staff is eager to help answer any questions.

Negatives were a very leaky shower and an in-wall, not very powerful hairdryer, although I believe you can get a better hairdryer upon request.

Nice hotel although I don’t know if it warrants the price. It’s a bit out of the way from the town but just a short 25 minutes.

There was no top sheet on the bed, just a comforter which I found a bit gross. No bed turn down at night.

Bed a little too hard. But that is our personal opinion. Lovely situation looking over the bay. Restaurant was first class. Hotel rather beautiful inside. Car parking a bit tight for a big car. The walk to the town was easy downhill. Made you puff a bit coming back.

Need New Food and Beverage Staff Needs an Overhaul

The hotel was beautiful and located across from a gorgeous beach. The front desk staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. However, the food and beverage staff was terrible. Not friendly. Slow service. And seemingly didn’t know what they were doing. The “free breakfast” included in the price of the room ran out of eggs at 9:20. Service ended at 10:30. I asked the manager and she said we’d have them in 5 minutes. 30 minutes and 2 more proddings produced nothing so we left.Dinner was expensive and produced the same bumbling and the quality of the meal was not up to the price.

NIce view & room, however mixed experience

Having chosen Regina Biarritz as a business weekend escape whilst Biarritz's top notch hotel is under repair, at first a complimentary upgrade from a Junior Suite to a Two-Room Suite was kindly offered and warmly accepted. The location of the hotel offers to see beautiful sunsets. Biarritz downtown is just a 10 minute walk away. The offered Spa massages were unfortunately not a relaxing experience - and fairly expensive for what it was - also happening in a relatively cold room while the massage chairs were heated - however, still... The breakfast situation was quite surprising - arriving during normal breakfast time 9:30AM, there were at first no glasses for juice or coffee / tea cups and after asking for it, the tableware that was given - even though it came out of the dish washer - was still dirty. The departure didn't give a warm feeling and the fact that the car was parked in the furthest spot away from the entrance while the entire parking space was empty while another car was being brought right to the entrance caused even more question marks, since the other guests were bodily fit. Just very strange and altogether giving the feeling of no care.

Absolutely lovely hotel - very comfortable and the staff are all very friendly. We often stay here but we’re disappointed with the swimming pool this time - each time we went for a swim the floor of the pool had been raised and was only knee deep - not great for someone who loves a swim. So we gave up and had to swim in the sea instead. Hopefully it will be back to normal when we return in September. Considering the standard and size of all the other pools in the hotels in Biarritz this one is poor.

Classic room = Average, plenty of better options

I've stayed in Biarritz many times but for a special occasion we opted for a more Premium hotel this time. Overall I was quite disappointed and would recommend plenty of central or beach front hotels over this one.
We paid 260 Euros per night (City Taxes & Breakfast not included in Hotels.com basic price) for a \"Classic\" room. For the price I was disappointed to have a small, ground floor room facing the car park. The hotel is very clean, nicely decorated and the staff were generally very nice but the overall experience was quite average.
While the hotel is not really that far from the centre of town, you will still think twice if you want to pop back for a jumper or quickly get changed before dinner. Unless you pay the extra for a room with a sea view there is really no interest to take this out of town hotel.
The Spa is only for specific treatments and there is no jacuzzi etc. It also closed at 6pm during the weekend which was before we considered to use it.
The outdoor pool is no doubt great in summer but not that appealing at 22 degrees in April.
Final point, If like me you have some Accor group status which usually gives you welcome drinks etc then keep in mind the hotel won't honor any of these benefits when you book through a third party website.

Mysterious Date Change

When I arrived at the hotel I discovered that I had been expected the previous night. I confirmed with the staff that my reservation was for the date of my arrival and for two nights - I have no idea why the date changed. However the front desk person said \"no problem, we have rooms\". He then proceeded to place me in a room that was a grade above my reservation (a suite!) I thought, ok, great. It wasn't a choice. It was just handed to me. Then when I checked out two days later, to my surprise, I was being charged for two nights, full rate, in a suite. To their credit, the bill was reduce to the rate I reserved and there was not a problem, but if there had been, what would be my recourse? To pay double what I intended? It's possibly a problem of communication with Expedia that the dates were changes, but that was an unwelcome and stressful moment in my travels.

The hotel was very nice . Clean comfortable beds a 15 min walk from the town which was good.
The restaurant was disappointing. The evening staff are good and the rose wine excellent. My steak was tough but not to bad. The breakfast was cold ! Cold scramble eggs, cold mushrooms. And cold tomatoes. The staff could not seem to cope with me pointing this out. Lots of shoulder shrugging no action. When presented with a bill for 26 euros a head I refused to pay. They took it off the bill. We left the hotel a day early even tho we had paid for 2 nights

Lovely, but why no drawers for personal storage!

Lovely hotel, quite pricey, but an excellent product. Huge comfortable indoor lounge / bar space, circa 600 sq. yards., but our designer room had no drawer storage space at all. Cupboard space was very inconvenient, all above 4 ft. 6 in. Excellent and varied French / Basque breakfast. Outside seating was unavailable, despite the sunshine.

Very professional staff. Elegant and beautiful property. Got hot during the night and couldn't turn on AC so opened window, which helped cool room, but was somewhat noisy. Felt breakfast was absurdly overpriced at 35 euro for a basic continental breakfast with an omelet.

Overall very good hotel. Staff and location excellent. Slightly disappointed with the facilities. No real swimming pool and the rooftop bar was closed the whole time we were there so nowhere to relax outside. This was disappointing as it was one of the reasons for booking this hotel

We stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic time, and the hotel was a big part of our experience. The building is beautiful and well decorated throughout. the pool area was easily accessible, and intimate with pool side dining service available.
The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom facilities were of excellent quality. Room service was frequent but discreet (our bed was always remade, water always replaced, but we were never disturbed).
We also dined at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and thought both the morning buffet, and evening set menus were of amazing quality, albeit expensive.

Beautiful hotel but not much around.

A beautiful hotel with a nice view and excellent service. However, it is a 20 min walk to the center of Biarritz, with nothing really close by to have breakfast for instance. The prices are quite high in the hotel. The gym is very small and in a dark room but clean. Great pool and it's heated.

Recently renovated, stunning modern and sophisticated decor, room was beautiful and spacious, modern renovated bathroom, lovely pool, gorgeous lobby, friendly staff from front desk to the restaurant. Enjoyed a fabulous dinner on the terrace of the restaurant, a true gem, wish I had stayed more than one night.

Gorgeous newly renovated hotel with lovely staff

We loved every minute of our stay and would not hesitate recommending it anyone who visits Biarritz . Staff could not be more helpful or accommodating. Hotel I aprox 15 mins walk to centre and 5 mins walk to beach. Lovely restaurant, pool and spa.

Great position

This hotel is in a great position, on a quiet road overlooking the sea and facing the lighthouse, but still only a short walk from the town centre. Our \"Superior\" room was spacious and very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We did not dine in the hotel but the breakfast was excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay and good value. Would certainly recommend it.

My wife and 20 year old daughter spent 8 days here. Although the weather wasn't kind for the whole time, we have no complaints with the hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay there.

Very neat hotel, which has obviously been redecorated recently.
Room with average size.
Service had ups and downs : we had very good service at reception for check-in / check-out ( the porter behaved like a vallet and went to the parking to pick up our car ) but on one day, even with the sign \"make the room\" out, we found that our room had not been made, 3.5 hours after we left, over lunch time !
Still the pricing is fair compare to the alternative hotels, if you can walk just the extra 5/10 minutes to the beach.

Beautiful location with some \"buts\"

We requested a king sized bed and got into the room to find 2 twin beds pushed together. Needless to say, it was not comfortable for a couple.
The carpet in our room was stained.
The lower floor (where there was a computer for internet access as well as locker rooms leading to the pool)smelled horrific. A combination of a moldy, mildew smell and sewage...
The good things about the hotel were its location--just a short drive out of the main hubub of town so it was quiet and relaxed. And the staff was friendly and did try their best to please.
