Had a fantastic stay at The Landsdowne.
Its a old hotel with lots of history. The staff, reception, breakfast and dinner, absolutely brilliant. Tomas, Hannah, Rosa, Dora, to name a few.
Our room was spacious.
We'll definitely be back.

Room was dated, pigeons cooing most the night. Light comes in from gap under door. Room 245 has a really uncomfortable mattress. Bathroom has dark mould around tiles in the shower end of bath. Was not a pleasant stay at all but an uncomfortable night with broken sleep, no water in room, stain on comforter very basic. Breakfast was okay but would not stay again.

Stayed for one night with a booking for the Congress theatre. Sea view room was clean and spacious as were all public areas of the hotel. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Handy roadside parking just across the road from the hotel. All staff were friendly and attentive to customer needs.

The hotel is an older building but very clean and well maintained. The staff at the Lansdowne were superb, all of them. The receptionist was welcoming, the bar staff were friendly and chatty. The restaurant crew were accommodating and professional. On arrival the room was not setup for four, an immediate apology and within 10 minutes the additional bed arrived and made up with care. The hotel has a free pool table that our boys loved.

The seaview is pretty good, The toilet has bad drainage smell on the first night and the hotel team quickly helped us change to another room. Pets stayed here is quite expensive, the food in the restaurant is all right. Parking is a bit tricky on the main road.

A lovely hotel with all the facilities except a car park. But there's plenty off parking nearby, so not a problem. Our room was clean, bright and had a wonderful outlook. Definitely worthwhile having a sea view room. The bar was well stocked and the restaurant served top quality food which was cooked to perfection. But a special thanks must go to all the hard working staff that made our short stay most enjoyable.

Family-run hotel with great customer service

The Lansdowne is an amazing family-run hotel in a great location for exploring the scenic town of Eastbourne. The breakfasts are superb and the traditionally furnished lounge is a tranquil spot to while away some time boosted by the backdrop of sensational sea views. The bar menu offers some nice snacks too.The hotel provides reasonably priced parking permits so you can park opposite the hotel.

Lovely hotel and some characterful communal areas and relaxing lounges. Clean and spacious rooms. Great location. Only issue was a loud fan noise coming from the kitchen - were told it would be switched off by 9pm but it wasn't - but after a follow up call it was switched off at 9:30pm.

The executive sea view room is spacious with huge windows and a great view of the seafront. Fantastic to just cross the road to go for a swim. Well located for all the town's facilities and walking distance from the train station. Good parking deal at 2.35 per day.
Downside was the bathroom is very small, and gets stiflingly hot, and has no space to put your toiletries

It was exactly as I expected for a British seaside hotel. The rooms are very dated and you don’t really want to walk on the carpet but the staff were friendly and attentive and it’s in a great location. Had lunch in the restaurant which was extremely average yet very overpriced. You’re much better going to eat somewhere on Terminus Road about ten minutes walk away.

Always sure of a comfortable and welcoming stay at the Lansdowne. It is based perfectly for us to access the seafront and other Eastbourne activities and out into wider Sussex venues.

Lovely Hotel in Great Situation

This is a beautiful hotel, right by the gardens and promenades of Eastbourne's main beach.
Service is excellent, food is extremely good and bedrooms a very good size, well furnished and with comfortable beds and chairs. The hotel is very dog friendly, with lounge and dining areas where your dog can be with you and there were many dogs there when we stayed.
Help for the disabled was particularly good. They have a disabled lift for access to the building, but whilst we were there this wasn't working, so staff met us at the entrance steps, helped us up or down, and took our mobility scooters through the basement and up in the service lift to the ground floor for us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. There is free disabled parking right opposite the property, and permits are issued for abled drivers just a few yards up the road. A wonderful hotel, and we shall certainly be returning.

Charming hotel where you want to take things slow and have tea or cocktails in the lounge (we did both: the afternoon tea was excellent). The staff is helpful, the rooms are big and confortable (but a bit hot when your room is not facing the sea) and the breakfast buffet has great options.
The beach is on the other side of the street, the pier is a short walk away and there was a lot of restaurants to choose from nearby. We walked to and from the train station easily and, much more strenuous but so worth it, to the Seven Sisters cliffs.
If I ever come back to Eastbourne, The Lansdowne would be my choice again.

I booked The Lansdowne for a spur of the moment short stay and was so pleased I did. All the staff from Reception, Housekeeping, and Restaurant were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel's communal areas were beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard and comfortable, as was my seaview bedroom. Only downside is finding free parking, which we did a short walk away. Also, our room looked out of the back of the property over the kitchen facilities but we did choose this cheaper option. Lovely stay on the beachfront

We had a great stay in the hotel (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 nights). Our room was bright and clean, and surprisingly spacious. Upon arrival, we noted that we were expecting an extra bed in our room; one was promptly sent up and made up. Breakfast was excellent.

The hotel is 3-stars for a reason: it hasn't been refurbished in a long time, so if you're looking for examples of cutting edge design, you might try somewhere else (probably outside of Eastbourne?). But The Lansdowne is very well looked after by the staff, and this gives the hotel a lovely nostalgic feel. Whenever we're headed to Eastbourne again we'll try to stay there first.

Charming and perfect, with amazing food

Excellent, charming hotel. Not overly grand, but comfortable, clean, beautiful and extremely friendly. It felt like a home, like I wanted to just hang out in the lounge all day looking at the sea and chatting with people. It had a kind of magic that is hard to describe. The sea view from my room was spectacular, the bed was comfy, everything was as hoped. Above and beyond was the breakfast - easily the best I've ever had, with a ton of options, all of them first class. Dinner in the restaurant was also the best dinner I had in Eastbourne. It's a really great restaurant.
The location was wonderful - west of the pier, where it's quieter and more genteel, with a gorgeous lawn right out front, and sea and promenade beyond it. You can walk to the pier in 10 minutes, but I was more impressed by the walk along the beach going the other way, towards Holywell, Italian Gardens and the South Downs. It was all much prettier than I expected.
I am already planning my next trip back to the Lansdowne. It was a really great, relaxing trip.

My friend and I stayed here for a couple of days very good location, friendly staff, and great breakfast. I took my two adult daughters there last year and we had a great time, so decided to tell my friend and we decided to go to the same hotel. She too throughly enjoyed her stay. We also enjoyed the shops, and Tina Turner Tribute night at the bandstand. Brilliant.

My assessment would have been higher but for one thing. My wife and I thoroughly dislike UHT milk and it is our customer to ask for a small jug of real milk for our tea and coffee.This has always been willingly provided in a wide variety of establishments from four star hotels to village pubs. I was therefore staggered, on checkout, to be ask for £1 to pay for the tiny jug of milk we had asked for the previous evening. To add insult to injury the milk had gone off overnight was useless for our tea. Such meanness beggars belief!

The hotel was very clean and well-kept, the staff were fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming and super quick to provide any services. I had to upgrade from a single to a twin room before arrival and the staff got it sorted straight away, in one phone call. After we got there, I asked for an iron and an ironing board and they were straight up to my room!

However, the ironing board was old and cheap and didn't hold the iron, so our hot iron actually fell off it when I put it down. Not great.

The bathroom door lock was also broken, and the door itself was off its hinges and swung loose whenever we tried to close it. It would shut, eventually, but not lock.

When I showered in the morning (about 7am), the hot water was very patchy, and the water kept going cold and then hot. My dad showered after me and had a better experience.

The breakfast was very good, better than most hotel breakfasts I've had; the area the hotel is in is beautiful, and we enjoyed a few walks up and down the beachfront.

Solid hotel, great staff, but could clearly do with some refurbishments.

Very comfortable, excellent value

Booked the last sea view room available at short notice. Very nice room but found the double bed a little small (but comfortable) as we have a super king at home. Impressed with the entire hotel which was very clean and spacious; extremely helpful staff and excellent breakfast.

I chose the hotel as it was dog friendly and its closeness to the beach.
Staff were friendly and helpful and on arrival, I asked for a table for dinner, which was booked, they provided a box of treats for our dog and I paid a small fee for having a dog in the hotel. The room was spacious and clean but we were hoping for a sea view. I think dog friendly family rooms are at the back of the hotel.
When we came down for dinner, we were then told that it did not allow dogs and we could eat in the bar, although only at the front of the bar, which was already crowded at this point. The menu was different and as I had wanted something different from a burger and chips as it was my birthday. We decided not to eat there. I found a lovely local Italian restaurant who let me bring my dog and we ate there instead. I was upset because at the time of booking, I wasn't advised that no dogs were allowed and I would need to sit on the edge of the bar area.
The staff were friendly and helpful and whilst a hotel that excepts dogs, it did not provide guests with the same options or access to facilities as those without a dog.
I would stay again but I may not bring my dog as I felt we got slightly less than guests who didn't have a dog, despite paying extra for having him.

Great room, comfortable bed and good breakfast

Really good stay. Great size comfortable room- whole public area spacious. Was a bit worried about dogs staying there but didn't experience any issues. Good bar and restaurant- both necessary as it poured down. Had paid for sea view which would have been lovely had it not been so wet and windy.
