Overall great experience, really can't complain. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly.
Only wish the tables outdoors were wiped down or had a hand brush handy to wipe the tree bits off.

Perfect

The YHA in Alice Springs is perfectly located and a charming place to stay that ouzes character.

I'm 50 years old and stayed there with my wife. It was spotlessly clean and absolutely ideal for a few nights before heading over to Ayers Rock.

Clearly room had not been cleaned properly or in a long time as there was dust all over the fan and in corners. The blinds felt dirty. There was another person's hair on my bed when I arrived (I was the first person in the room so was not another guest) I had a late check in which I did appreciate the clear instructions how to get in, however there was no instructions on where to find sheets for the bed. Luckily I was able to find them on my own.

Excellent value for money, great security, friendly staff and clean well kept facilities ie: laundry and toilets/showers cleaned daily! Kitchen at times was untidy however this was due to patrons not the staff, room was comfortable, clean and in great condition. Overall very impressed with the complex

Pleasantly surprised as it’s been a long time since I’ve stayed in a YHA.
Facilities where fine a few more pointers as to what to do would have been helpful. However, the staff were very helpful when asked.

I liked the convenience of the property and it's closeness to the city and shopping, the guests that were there were also lovely and friendly. The negative side to the property was you were having to deal heavily with the locals and criminal behaviour going on in the area.

Good hostel - weak a/c in 4 bed dorm

The hostel was well-equipped. I was disappointed by the very weak a/c in the 4 bed dorm (much better in the larger dorm)

Well run Hostel with adequate facililities generally but excellent provisions in the kitchen of kitchen equipment.
Comfortable beds, everything kept clean and tidy. Xmas day was great with everyone in the hostel sitting around eating and drinking and talking to each other.

Good value but noisy

Facilities average but what expected in YHA and good value for money.
Common areas nice but on two nights we stayed here (3 days apart) loud music and voices. Music was excessively loud in afternoon and also went on late into evening and this could be heard loudly in the bedrooms. Asked guest myself to turn down which happened for short period before returning to excessive level - staff did not seem bothered by music/were not present.
As many people staying here seem to be on tours departing early it would have been useful if reception area had been open as we had to leave suitcases the night before (8pm) in locked storage.

Friendly and easy place to stay

The Alice Springs hostel was comfortable and friendly. It was an easy place to stay in. The kitchen is roomy and clean, and the outside movies are a bonus!

Met lots of cool people and it's great that there is a common room that has a lot of space to hangout. Staff could be a little better trained but it was also a staff in training when I arrived. No dramas, happy carefree environment, everyone helps out! There was broken glass in the first room I stayed in however the second was spotless and besides the glass the first one was clean as well.

Great Stay

I stayed at this YHA before and after my outback trip. I was able to leave my luggage with them which was great.
The room has lockers and a card key to get in so it is pretty secure.
kitchen was very clean and well equipped.
I would recommend staying at this hostel while in Alice Springs.

Good for short stay

Comfortable for one or two nights in the centre of Alice springs. The tour pick up locations are very close and so are shopping areas.

no way to get in after hours

I made a reservation and paid upfront but they failed to tell me what the code for the after hours lock was to collect keys. I wasted my money and ended up having to find another at 10pm! No number to call for after hours issues or anything! I left messages on their answer machine and no one bothered to return my calls keeping my money instead.

Top Hostel

My two night stay was even better than I remembered from my visit from years ago.....the room was perfect, air con keeping it cool; uncluttered, clean and tidy......the kitchen is well equipped and it was easy to cook and enjoy meals indoors or out. The toilets and shower area is also very clean, and having laundry facilities is a bonus after long travel days.
The front desk staff went above and beyond to answer questions about sights in the area, and direct us to local entertainment, as well as arrange the airport transfer. I would recommend this YHA to other couples as the double rooms are quiet and perfect in every way....this from an older, experienced traveller.

Manage your hostel!!!

They need to manage the hotel after hours. There was a loud party in the court yard area until very late into the night and started again by 4am. Most of the people here wake up by 445am to start an early tour to Uluru, and it was upsetting for the lack of respect to most of the travelers.
