Don't let my 4-star ratings dissuade you from staying at the Towneplace Suites in Findlay, Ohio; I rarely give 5 stars. That said, this was our second time staying at this location in 2 years, and reserving the same type of accommodations (2 bedroom suite). The rooms are clean and well-appointed, and a bonus is that each bedroom has its own heat/ac. There are plenty of pillows and blankets, and these beds are hands down the most comfortable I have had the pleasure of using in a hotel. The kitchen is stocked with silverware, measuring cups and spoons, steak and cutting knives, pots, pans, a colander (!), cutting board, pot holders, dish soap, dishwasher, dish towels, paper towels, drinkware, plates, bowls...the whole shebang.
The living area sports a 48\" or 50\" (not sure which, but it's plenty big) smart TV, a couch large enough for 3 people, a large ottoman, a work desk/dining table and 4 dining chairs. We had a small issue with some of the stations not displaying but once we notified the front desk they got one of their maintenance personnel on it and it was fixed within a couple of hours. Turns out the cable service the hotel uses was having a server issue and just needed to be reset...easy fix.
The property boasts an in-ground pool, grilling area (we checked out the sizable Weber grill they have there for guests to use and it's CLEAN!), outdoor lounging area with patio umbrellas. The property is kept clean and free of debris outside. They have plenty of baggage carts.

Hotel was on back order for hotel keys so 1 per room. Also overbooked and charged me $109 per night instead if $159 when originally was the cost when booked and other people I was at hotel with were charged correct price for their room originly, but not me. Also, I did not have a pull out couch as booked, my refrigerator died iver night, spiiling $100 worth of food for a softball picnic the next day we were in town for. Very dissapointed. Also, the breakfast was very limited at 7am Sat and Sunday. I will NOT stay at this property again. The other people I was with also had problems, and even 1 family had to leave as hotel only could do 1 night and not 2 they originally booked for price etc. I did ask to speak to a manager and said was not in and if had any concerns, since I booked with expedia, I needed to call them as it does not work to complain to hotel, just who booked through if in need of a refund or for damaged goods due to fridge. They did have maintenance look at it, it did run a little cooler after the fact. Just very upset and not aure expedia is able to help at all. Thank you. Kim

Some good and bad

The one room suite I had was larger than my first apartment. The full kitchen was in great shape with the refrigerator spotless. My only issue was with the beds. The queen size mattress in the bedroom was quite low to the ground and not very comfortable (personal opinion). And the pull out couch that is advertised isn't. It is more like a flip over box spring, that needs a mattress. And unfortunately none was provided. I was sharing the room and had expected that my roommate would be able to sleep on something besides a padded mattress cover. The breakfast has a couple of hot items, waffles and oatmeal. Everything else is cold. It will put something in your belly, but that is it.

All in all my stay was both good and bad.

Our cozy weekend getaway

Me and my significant other meet here every other weekend due to the distance between our homes and the convenience of the location. We have never had a bad experience yet. However when we did have a maintenance issue, staff didn’t waste anytime in moving us to another room. Since our first time a few months ago, management and staff have always been friendly, helpful and professional. They have provided prompt service to any of our requests and each room we’ve stayed have been cleaned and comfy. It’s like staying in our own apartment, home away from home

OK but will not be back

Check in was good, but there is no real lobby—front desk is tucked away and it was a little hard to figure out where to check in. Our 1-bedroom suite was spacious. The sleeper sofa didn’t fold out, only sleeps one person and wasn’t terribly comfortable. The kitchen was nice but needs a deep cleaning. The hot water for my shower was only lukewarm, which was not pleasant at 6 a.m. Breakfast was more of a continental, although you could make a waffle. Overall an ok stay, but we would stay elsewhere the next time we are in the Findlay area.

Not great

Disappointed that the room was listed with a pullout couch bed. We had to purchase an air mattress as the pullout does not have a mattress. Without the purchased air mattress it felt like you were sleeping on the floor. Something you shouldn’t have to absorb for $200 a night.

Quiet & Comfortable, however...

The room was clean, bedding very comfortable, the hotel was quiet and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, when the shower was turned all the way up to hot, it was not hot. We were able to get a hot shower at night but the morning shower was lacking heat.I had read about this problem in past reviews but had hoped that it would have been addressed by now. It has not been fixed.

The breakfast options consisted of hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, apples, bananas, etc....no sausage, no scrambled eggs, no bacon. Luckily McDonalds is close by.

The location is wonderful since there are many restaurants, shopping and grocery stores in close proximity

The pool was drained at the time of my stay. I didn't inquire if they were intending on filling it for the summer season.

The outer hotel door had a ziptie on the interior handle, making the locking mechanism ineffective so that anyone without a card could gain access.

The doors, oh my goodness, SO SQUEAKY! The interior doors (bathroom, bedroom) do not open and close freely. They get stuck and they squeak. This makes it difficult to be quiet when others are sleeping.

Overall it was a quiet and comfortable stay but some of the amenities were lacking.

We liked the space of the room, but the shower was almost cool/barely lukewarm, the first two days. We had to talk ourselves into showering, since it was so unpleasant.
The day we were checking out, we did get a hot shower and were grateful for it.
The breakfast was less than average. We thought it would have at least scrambled eggs or sausage or something other than fruit, waffles and yogurt. Lastly, the coffee in the room and at the breakfast area was see through, flavorless and weak.
The staff at the desk were nice and the housekeepers were nice and kept the room clean.

The stay was great minus the complementary breakfast not available but its understandable. There is no mattress topper for the pull out bed so it is very uncomfortable sleeping on wood covered by leather for 10 days with just a thin blanket and sheets (a day or two I can understand but it was not at all easy to sleep on for a week and a half.) Not sure I would stay again

The weather was bad. There was freezing rain and it coated the sidewalks and parking lot with ice. In the morning the sidewalks were well salted but the parking lot was icy and stayed that way the whole weekend. They didn't continue to maintain the sidewalks for safety. In our room the headboard came off the wall at 2 am. It was loud enough to wake us and we stopped it from hitting us.The bolts weren't anchored and I saw strips of glue. They offered a new room but we said no. Just don't hang it back up until we leave. The free breakfast offered was typical of a hotel, but little room and not enough seating. They do allow pets and the walls are thin and you can hear the dogs bark and neighbors tv.

Lies and lies

I booked a two bedroom suite.. I got a ONE FULL SIZE BED room. I was told someone that day just changed it. The girl at the desk was as helpful as she could be considering EVERY management is incompetent. There was four of us. Two mothers and two sons that both weigh over 200lbs. I was told they reduced the room and someone would call me Monday. Today is Friday and I have yet got a call from sales or management. I stayed in one in Ms that made my visit very pleasurable so I decided to stay at this one. I was lied to even after callingWednesday. They said since I booked with an online company that getting my refund was complicated. Still I have not heard from anyone to apologize or to be helpful. The young lady at the desk is the only reason people come back to this hotel. I have never stayed at a hotel that NO management is there in the weekend and at 3pm during the week. (I'm a travel agent so I deal allot with hotels and will tell all my clients to stay away from this chain) this hotel need to revamp all management positions. Maybe the young lady at the desk should get a promotion.
