We loved our stay. The hotel was a fantastic location and a bit of luxury. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and very accommodating in making s special occasion even more memorable. The breakfast was also lovely and the restaurant and outside space were in keeping with the boutique feel.

All the great reviews are telling the truth. Wonderful boutique hotel within walking distance to everything. Sonja at reception is exceptionally friendly. The waitstaff are cordial and watching them work is like looking at a well choreographed dance. We stayed in the little attic room. Very comfy.

Lovely quirky hotel. We had the room with the veranda on floor 2 which was spacious as was the bathroom. The breakfast was fabulous! Lovely restaurant with outside space to sit in the sun. Staff were lovely too. A great trip, just wished we’d booked for a few more days

Everything! Location super-central. Our attic room was perfect, squeaky-clean with gorgeous green-tiled, heated floor bathroom. Gerlóczy‘s atmospheric surroundings and Parisian decor. Handy elevator, but also fantastic spiral staircase that accessed all floors. Added the breakfast option to room which generously included all breakfast items on menu—delicious and beautifully-plated! But what really made our stay extra great was all the friendly and helpful staff: from Sonja at the front desk who spent much time helping us with deciding what sights to visit, Mehti in the restaurant, and another employee at the front desk who offered to lend us his own umbrella on a rainy day when all the hotel’s stock had already been borrowed. We sadly didn’t get the names of everyone to give a special shout-out, but they all added to the charm of this hotel. Will definitely rebook our next trip to Budapest!

I started working right away after I returned, so I couldn't find a time to leave a review up until today.

Hotel Gerloczy had everything you would wish from an ideal hotel -- absolutely beautiful, clean, warm room, great location, and even a top-notch restaurant on the ground floor. But what distinguishes Gerloczy even further is their genuine welcome and professional service. The staffs truly made me feel cherished and included throughout the whole stay, not just as a stranger or simply a customer.

One day, I will visit Budapest again solely for Hotel Gerloczy. It really is a special stay, I can't recommend you more.

Last but not least, extra thanks to Szonja for her kindness. Until we meet again!

Greeting at reception was friendly and wecolming with fast check in. Room well presented. We used the restaurant and had an excellent meal.
Only downside was some noise from building work nearby which is typical is most city hotels at some poiint. Location very good for explorering the city.
Would happy stay there again if in Budapest again.

The Gerloczy Hotel is a gem. We selected to stay there based on the reviews and we are really happy that we did. It has a great location. It is close to the busy areas but not on a busy street. The room is very clean, a decent size, with good amenities and comfortable furniture—especially the bed. The shower is large and has great water pressure. We liked that there was restaurant in the hotel. Besides daily breakfasts, we ate twice at the restaurant during our five days there. We highly recommend the Gerloczy Hotel and would stay there again.

Boutique hotel in a great location with easy access to the Danube, public transport and sightseeing red bus stop 13. Set in a small courtyard with indoor and outdoor seating. Amazing local restaurant which serves good quality unlimited waiter served breakfast, off the menu. Open all day and evening. The staff
are friendly and work extremely hard. I’ve stayed in many 5* hotels around the world and this small hotel with a beautiful staircase, rustic Hungarian charm is there at the top. Remember this is a European hotel with a super comfortable clean bed, enough water pressure with plenty of hot water. Windows that open to let fresh air in! 24 hour Reception very helpful. Slight disruption from noise outside on a Friday evening but wouldn’t put me off staying again. Great for a short stay or business trip to see this historic city.

I loved staying here! The room was beautifully furnished and decorated and the floor to ceiling curtains were everything. Even the bathroom was gorgeous. The whole place definitely had a historic and vintage feel to it. The spiral staircase was amazing and there is also a lift. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and assisted me in making the most of my time in Budapest.

This is a great hotel to stay for a week.Location is very central, Great service, there is a restaurant under the hotel that serves very good breakfast. I did not eat lunch/dinner, can’t comment. Room has a big bathroom that’s separated with a door for privacy from the room which is great. But, the bathtub is old fashion, one can’t stand up and take a shower. No shower curtain, it’s a bit inconvenient, but by day three, we learned how not get the floor all wet. Overall, great place to stay.

We were in a hurry at checkout but I think she charged us for beers we never had at the hotel restaurant. They need to be cautious about people signing drinks to rooms they don’t occupy. We had one beer and one glass of wine with dinner when we arrived and paid with card that night. We did not have any other alcoholic drinks at the hotel.

Everything about the Gerlóczy was first class. Our room was spotless, roomy, air conditioned.
The breakfast menu was varied, and the portions were such that we didn’t feel the need to eat again until late afternoon / early evening.
All the staff were all extremely pleasant, helpful and delivered excellent service.
We used the restaurant once during our stay, and the food we had was delicious.

This hotel was perfect for our Budapest stay(4d,3 nights). Location was central to everything we needed to see on our visit. The hotel was so welcoming and the staff very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed at the Gerloczy in Budapest for 3 nights in February and had a really lovely stay. The location was perfect, room comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated in an old-world style (think wooden beams, brass fixtures, striped wallpaper) and the staff were efficient and friendly. We were traveling off-season so got a great price..I suspect it would have been beyond us otherwise so we feel very lucky. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend:)

The location is excellent, next to but not in the entertainment areas and easily walkable to the river and all the sights. The restaurant has a Paris cafe feel, and the food is top notch, we dined like kings.

The Highlights -The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the Pest side, close to key attractions and vibrant spots. The building’s charm is another standout feature, reminiscent of an upscale, traditional Hungarian home. If you’re seeking an authentic experience over a standard chain hotel vibe, Gerloksy delivers.
We also loved the breakfast package, served in the hotel’s on-site café. The food was fantastic, with upscale and unique options like bone marrow and foie gras. It’s a must for food enthusiasts.
The Drawbacks - Unfortunately, the air conditioning didn’t work, making for uncomfortable, restless nights. Despite informing the front desk, nothing was done, which was disappointing.
The staff’s casual approach also detracted from the experience. Employees wore street clothes, making it hard to tell who worked there, and service felt unpolished.
Lastly, the bathroom amenities fell short. Housekeeping missed a day, soaps weren’t replenished, and the body wash seemed increasingly diluted, requiring multiple pumps for even basic use.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this characterful Hotel and would definitely recommend it. We had one of the rooms in the attic and whilst it was unique and comfortable, we would not suggest this room for anyone who has mobility issues as the bed is elevated and you have to climb up to access it.
The Hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre and close to the Danube so ideal for sightseeing.
There is a good selection for breakfast and we would highly recommend the restaurant where we had the best evening meal of our stay by far.
The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The Hotel arranged transport from and to the Airport for us which went without a hitch.
Thank you to all at the Gerloczy Hotel, we had a lovely time.

A really characterful and special hotel. Bedroom very comfortable. Breakfasts superb. Bathroom was spacious but old fashioned which would not suit some (no walk in shower, hand shower over bath) - but we liked it and was part of the 1900s feel of the place. Service was friendly and helpful. Excellent position - right in the heart of Pest but quiet.

Terrific staff - I needed a haircut & one of their team set me up with a Hungarian barber who spoke English. The hotel is near the Jewish Quarter & it’s beautiful Grand Synagogue - a must see in Budapest. It’s also near the Ruin Bars - also very interesting. Go early if you want to avoid crowds. The hotel restaurant is good & service is excellent

The Gerloczy provides a very clean and comfortable place to stay in central Budapest. It has character, staff are polite and helpful and I love the adjoining brasserie. It has all the facilities needed and is less expensive than other hotels. This includes a Nespresso machine, lovely toiletries, minibar, hairdryer and robes if requested. Linen was kept fresh daily.

I stayed 3 nights in this lovely hotel. It was quiet despite being right in centre of town. Position was around 10 min walk from shopping and wide range of restaurants and walkable to attractions and the sightseeing bus stops. Staff were very helpful and the room was large, clean and comfortable. Fresh coffee machine and a large old fashion bathroom with bath but no fixed shower which wasnt a problem. Restaurant at the front was lovely and staff great. Food great too. No other amenities to speak of just your room and restaurant but i was there to see the city not hang around the hotel. Room was quite warm even in spring with heating turned right down. No air con so might be hot in the summer. I would definitely stay here again as I love this style of hotel.

If you like the experience of older architecture built in the spirit of Budapest, then this is the place for you.

A beautiful 20 room hotel. With wide spiraling stairs. An elevator is also available. Rooms are quiet and simplistically elegant.

The restaurant has great food.

Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

This has been my favorite hotel experience in Europe.

This small hotel is in a stunning building. The rooms are stylish and well equipped. The bistro/bar on the ground floor offers a relaxing place to eat a delicious breakfast. We opted for the inclusive rate and it was exceptional good value. We had dinner there too and enjoyed the great food which was very well presented. The staff are very professional and looked after us very well. Public transport is a few minutes walk away and the centre of Pest can be explored on foot too.

Good service and breakfast, unique 19th century charm of a bygone era. The things I did not like were being woken up at 7am from a sensitive smoke alarm near kitchen... requiring people to evacuate. Window shutters did not shut and windows not sealed properly so smoke from smokers on balcony waft in your room. Lastly it was noisy, you can hear people easily walking on the hard floor in the the room above and next door. And sound from hallway travels through door easily so you hear people children yell.
