Hotel was in a good location and was very clean and well maintained.

The bar area was out of service during our stay but wasn't a major issue as lots of choice in the area but would have been nice to end the evening there.

Only issue we had was one day our 2nd key was taken out of the electric supply so we were a key short and the following day another guest gained access to our room. Luckily we were in the room and I do believe he was as surprised as us so a genuine mistake on his part. After a visit to reception all keys were deactivated and 2 new keys issued and no further issues.

Didn't get the breakfast buffet because there are many restaurants near by to get food. Very convenient location, with the metro a short walk down and a Aldi down stairs. The minor issue I have is since this hotel is facing the main road, you have to get picked up and dropped off at the back which is inconvenient if you're group with lots of luggage. However the plus is that there are complimentary snacks and refreshments every morning which is nice

The reception took our passports upon arrival and without asking for permission, scanned the barcodes of our passports in a machine identical to \"the passport reading/scanning\" that only police or immigration officers use in international airports or police stations.
We told the reception that it is highly innapropriate and illegal for a hotel to extract that way information from the passport and save it in their basic computer system (and without permission).
The reception advised us that they will refuse to give us our room keys although we had prepaid in advance with expedia (and came by plane from another country.
The reception told us that we have paid expedia, and we had not paid the hotel.
We were shocked. I insited to talk to the manager, but the manager refused to come out of the office to explain why we were threatened to not get our room keys. After insisting , we got the keys.
They made us sign a form that got automatically filled in with our personal information during barcode passport scanning. According to reception, if we refused to sign it, then we were not going to get the room keys.
İt was extremely shocking and rediculous.
Upon check out, the reception had a strange procedure \" the hotel verifies online if the client is safe to check out and allowed to leave the hotel.\"

İt sounded as we were not in EU, but we were in the eastern block before 90's.
The rooms were very clean and spacious, the breakfast was very good and it has a great location.

This hotel is an excellent value and perfect location to walk anywhere in Budapest. The airport bus also drops off close by. The room was quiet and clean and I would highly recommend!

I would have given it a 3 star over all but Sayed one of staff members helped us so well that it changed my mind. Pickup and drop off in front of the hotel is impossible during rush hours. There is no designated area. Very limited staff. Only one person every 12 hrs or so I. The front desk. Rooms are not properly checked. Multiple items were broken.

Bad Check In and Billing Dept

During my stay I had trouble checking in. I then stayed another week and the hotel couldn’t even find my booking and finally figured out someone had canceled it. They ended up creating a new booking and tried to compensate me for my time with a room upgrade. I thought that was the end of things as I paid for my stay at the hotel and appreciated their gesture. Now, 3 weeks later, I saw that Hotels.com had charged my credit card after I already paid. When I reached out they said the hotel had put me as a no-show. Now I have been double charged and have to go through the mess of cleaning it up while dealing with a company (hotels.com) that doesn’t have a customer service number. On the last update they said that they can’t get a hold of the hotel so to wait 3 days for them to get back. I would NOT recommend this hotel if you are booking through hotels.com, it has been horrible. Also hotels.com customer service has been one of the worst and I am going to start looking at other options or just book directly with a larger hotel chain so I don’t have to deal with this in the future.

Location was excellent - quite convenient to walk from the hotel to literally anywhere within the inner city, with excellent transport links bus/tram/metro at a short walk away.

Room was ok, some of the facilities need updoing - bath-tub useless as no stopper to fill the tub, lights in the bathroom really dim, and only one TV channel was working - not like I was there to watch TV but others may like to.

Breakfast felt kind of bare minimum - quality of fruits was really bad, for example, brown banana - who eats rotten bananas?

Cheese cake looked stale - like sliced a few days ago and they will continue to serve until all slices are eaten.

Gym had no mirror, no floor mat for weight or stretching exercises. Imagine if someone drops a weight - it could easily damage the floor.

Apart from the above, air conditioning worked and I had good sleep.

Staff was nice, always willing to help.

Over all the stay was fine. It is in a GREAT location.
The staff are all friendly and helpful.
But there are too few English channels on TV. Even the BBC was unavailable. Which I used to watch in past stays.
The bath tub is very high at almost 67 cm tall. It is very difficult for older guests to get in and out of. There needs to be another grab bar in the back of the tub to help with getting in and out of the tub.

Very nice property located in walking distance to most attractions. If you choose not to walk, taxis are readily available, tram and bus stops are next to the hotel. Close to two of the Xmas mkts and a very short walk to the bridges and the Danube.

The city is fantastic and the people in the city are fantastic, but when you stay at this hotel, you can look forward to the rooms not being cleaned properly, not even the mugs are cleaned and the tea and coffe replaced. I cut my leg and appolgised to the reception and asked for the bed sheet as thre was blood on it. Throughout the stay they refused. I will not return there and would advice people if you don't mind the dirty room then go else where who do care.

I would never stay in this hotel again or recommend it to anyone, especially if they value connectivity and service. First the good: the location is convenient; the room was not bad, but not appropriate for anyone with mobility issues, and the buffet breakfast was fine. The bad: the hotels basic wifi will not connect to Apple products. When I asked I was given a password to another hotel network which disconnected frequently; one day there was no Wifi; one day one of the two elevators didn’t work and was out of service for some time causing crowding for those needing to check out. Finally I was condescended to by two staff members over a misunderstanding with respect to checking out. They maintained that I had misunderstood a conversation in English, my first language, and the implication was that as I’m old I must be senile. Their English was workable but no more. In short I certainly wouldn’t stay there again under any circumstances. It was the only negative, besides rain, of an enjoyable visit to a beautiful city. Go but stay elsewhere.

I had to leave early, and when I got home, my repairman said the brake controller was destroyed and I'd need to junk that one & get another. Don't know if it was Hungarian electricity or the problem was with the hotel.

The room felt gloomy, lacking adequate lighting to properly illuminate the space which made it difficult to see. The bathroom appeared to be only partially clean, with a noticeable layer of dust accumulating on the makeup mirror, suggesting a less-than-thorough cleaning job.

The hotel location is close to the city center but is in front of a high traffic avenue where parking is not allowed. The room had a good size and comfortable bed but we reported the bathroom had burned bulbs and they were not replaced even though we stayed 5 days. Also the TV service has just a few channels and some of them were all blurred. I read the same comments on lighting and TV from previous guests but assumed they were fixed already. The front desk said there was nothing they could do. Breakfast buffet is the same every day but was okay. Front desk staff and cleaning room crew were very nice.

We got into the room and the first I realized that there was ZERO internet.
We got a new room after the receptionist was trying to \"find\" the internet. Took them about 30 minutes.
New room was fine. The king size bed was extremely comfy. The cushions were very good as well. The room was nice enough and all was good, also the bathroom. The shower had high water pressure which was appreciated. ac worked sufficiently and did not blow onto our faces. Only one thing we did not like was that the bathroom did not have an airvent !

Check-in took ages, the room had no mirrors anywhere convenient and bright, there were no spoons for hot drinks nor was there many options. Room overlooked one of the busiest roads in the city, but the windows hardly blocked any noise, it was awful - emailed reception asking if it was possible to move rooms and they never replied. Also got charged on checkout for having water etc from the room’s fridge, when they never said anywhere that they aren’t free, nor where there any prices in the fridge. Fine stay if you’re on a tight budget but there’s no way this is a 4 star hotel!

Big issues with facilities but great helpful staff

During my stay, there were a few issues. The elevator didn't work at times, so I had to use the stairs. The internet speed was slow, making it hard to work and attend meetings from the hotel, but the staff let me use the business center. Also, the room door didn't close properly, which was a bit inconvenient and concerning. On the bright side, the staff was helpful and friendly, and I appreciated their assistance.

Thank God, the previous hotel I booked, they couldn't accommodate me, I got my refund and I had to book another booking. Turned out to be the best.

I stayed at this hotel for only one night and wasn’t very impressed with the customer service (staff at reception aren’t super friendly, their tone is not very happy). The room is alright and spacious but I was really shocked about the lack of stuff provided (I asked for slippers for example and they don’t have any to provide to guests, which was a bit frustrating as I was staying in a 3-stars hotel beforehand and they had more items available than this one). Breakfast is alright, there are several options so that was good. Location is right at Astoria which is quite central but still a bit of a walk to certain places.

We like the location of the property. It was at the heart of the city and close to major public transportation, dinning and shopping. However the gym was horrible! The gym was not state of the art as noted in description. Half of the machines were broken and barely had any weight to work out with. The elevator was broken the first few days we were there but it did get fix for the remainder of our stay. The sauna was also not the greatest. It opens up at 10 which I feel is to late for people who wake up early like myself. Overall through not bad if you don't plan of staying in to much.

The Exe Budapest Center hotel is a reasonably low-cost hotel that is outstanding. The lobby is very modern and beautiful, and the rooms are very nice. The hotel is surround by restaurants and is a very short walk to the Chain Bridge, Central Market, Heros Square, the metro, and the central square (vorosmarty ter). It is a bit of a walk to the Parliament but we did the 1 hr. night cruise for $22 ea. and you can get a wonderful nighttime view of everything.

Upon our arrival we reported to Reception that we had no WiFi connection in our room and that some of the \"few\" TV channels could not be tuned to no avail.
We've spent all of our stay without WiFi, which to me, was a very important and essential facility!

The hotel is in a very good location in the centre close to all the different attractions including the night life and bars . It is difficult to find one location where you close to everything in Budapest as all
The attractions are spread out but with the location of the hotel , everything was a short walking distance or a short taxi ride. I would highly recommend this hotel .
