The room we stayed in was nice but located on the side of hotel. There was constant noise and police/ambulance sirens going off.
The room was not very clean and the cleaners only made the beds and changed the towels. The bathroom was not cleaned.
The breakfast was nice. The staff were helpful.
The best thing about the hotel was the location. We could go walk to nearby restaurants and attractions.

Location is unbeatable. Walkable to many places, lots of dinning and shopping near the hotel. Although the hotel is a beautiful old building, there is a section of the hotel that is recently remodeled. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

I gave middle of the road stars for everything because I really wouldnt know what the Daubius is like, as they renaged on our, already paid, Experian booking, 2 weeks before my trip and sent us to the Radisson Blu instead - which was a very good hotel by the way. Just not what we booked.

It was truly my honor to choose your hotel for this stay. The facilities are excellent, and the staff are even more outstanding — always helpful and ready to answer any questions.

I was especially touched when I twisted my ankle and was worried about missing my connecting flight because I needed to contact the airline to arrange wheelchair assistance. I felt quite helpless at that moment.

The front desk staff member, Adrian, showed incredible patience and kindness. He searched across different websites to find the correct contact number and spent a great deal of time helping me resolve the issue. I was deeply moved by his support.

Location was great. However, for being a 4 star
Hotel with a high room rate I expected more. It was quite worn and unmodern. The bed was old and uncomfortable and one chair had a nail sticking out, causing damage to clothes.The housecleaning was terrible. No vacuum cleaning during my 5 day stay, empty bottles and dirty teamugs and glasses were left for days. The furniture in the lobby was in desperate need of upholstering.

Old world charm and elegance, and good location. Unfortunately our room was in the modern wing so it lacked the charm you see in hotel photos online. Staff was nice but cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The bathroom was not well cleaned (especially the floor) though they did change towels. Room temperature is centrally controlled at 24.7C (76.5F) which was uncomfortable especially to sleep. The hotel technician was not able to change our settings and suggested we just open the window. Reception staff was nice and helpful to get us a taxi to the airport.

My flight was delayed and I tried to contact the hotel to ensure I could check in after midnight (Expedia shows check in finish at midnight). Despite multiple attempts to call, emails and messages, I had no response which left me unsure if I could still go to the hotel. When I did manage to check in, the room came with a complimentary bottle of water, but when I went to open it it had already been opened and left there like it was new. On the second night, they took away all of my towels and didn’t replace them, even though I didn’t ask for new towels. Water in the shower was luke warm at best, but the rooms were over heated. Overall a very unusual and uncomfortable hotel.

We stayed three nights and on arrival the staff were very helpful and arranged a bottle of champagne as a surprise for my husband. Would've been nice if it was a lot colder than it was. Çleaning was done daily, even the towels, which was a surprise as we didn't ask for them to be changed. Didn't use the air-con as it wasn't needed. Hotel is central and has an underground practically at the front door. Amazing tram and bus system, although a bit confusing for me!

First the positives: convenient location, clean and spacious room, one particular staff who was very helpful. The negatives: very noisy area like Times Square, the hotel lobby and dining room had a very unpleasant odor, the breakfast was barely edible, the reception staff was generally not helpful or friendly. Overall I would not stay here again primarily because while the location was convenient it wasn’t so nice.

Our room was great, as it had obviously recently been renovated. The rest of the hotel was quite poor. The breakfast wasn’t great. Cold food and limited option. Considering the Cafe that the hotel had open to the public displayed really good quality food, the food provided in the B&B was substandard in my opinion. However, the room was great, and the location was spot on.

Good location and decent enough breakfast. Staff were friendly. Disappointed that our room was not cleaned & bed made despite the fact we we put sightseeing from just after 11am until after 6pm! We had to go to reception to ask for a set of clean towels. Hotel could do with a refurbishment- looking a bit tired. Hairdryer in bathroom was very heavy & uncomfortable to use. Not quite up to the standard of what I expect from a 4star hotel.

What a charming hotel

We stayed here with our 10-year-old grandson for a city break. They upgraded us to a suite, which was very spacious and made life a lot easier for us. Thank you. The service was excellent from the reception through to the bar staff and the waiters. All were pleasant and friendly. I guess some would say the hotel is 'dated' but I prefer to think of it as classical, a step back in time. I would certainly stay here again.

We arrived at approximately 12 pm from the cruise ship Scenic. The room was ready but we were required to pay an early check in if we wanted to use the room or wait in the lobby until 3 pm.
The room was ready why not advise you can go up now if you wish.
The bathroom had hair particles on the floor in the corner. I woke up tp find a spider in my shoe which I disposed of and left on a note pad on the bedside table.
We intended to dine in for the two nights stay but there was no menu in the room to look at, so I had to take a photo of the downstairs menu so we could decide what was available. No coffee satchels in the room only tea. The dark curtain did not close to block out the afternoon sunlight. It was only for decoration to cover the corner of the room. Why is there for ? it does not move.

This is the singular most unfriendly hotel staff we have encountered in decades of travel. The check in counter especially. I never write a review unless it’s warranted. Almost to the point they were downright mean and noticed it with other hotel clientele. Terrible. Last thing you want to encounter after long flights and hours of travel. Not one friendly face.

Great location and lovely hotel

A very nice hotel - it's old in style but it's very clean and comfortable. Reception was very helpful and polite when we had an enquiry.

It's a perfect place to stay for a few nights (we stayed for three nights). We caught the bus from the airport and it dropped us one minute away from the hotel, and there are many transport links nearby. I would definitely stay there again.

Property was within walking distance to most places for interest.
I found some of the staff, quite abrupt and not going to help.
Most of them were happy to oblige.
I felt that a cleaners, in my room, didn’t do a terrific amount.
only clean the sink.
I left.
My room very tidy and slightly made my bed.
When the cleaners came in, my bed was the same as I left it.
The breakfast was good, a lot of choice for breakfast. staff was keeping on top of filling all of the food up. Lots of choices.
The best time to go was 8 o’clock in the morning. After that time it was too busy.
You had to queue up for the coffee machine.

Brilliant place. I had a huge room, clean with a super comfortable bed, in traditional style with lovely character. The staff were helpful. The lobby and shared areas of the hotel are lovely. The cafe is simply beautiful. The hotel is literally across the street from the bus stop from the airport, and right by a metro station too. It couldn’t be easier to find. And to top it all off, the price was incredibly reasonable. Honestly I loved it here and wouldn’t hesitate to come again.

Danube Hotel Astoria is conveniently located in the middle of the city (Please note that this is on the Pest side, we didn't know the difference until we went there). Metro is right by the hotel so that made it very convenient but what i did NOT like about this hotel is the fact that breakfast was the SAME every single day, no change at all, some variety would have been nice. I also did not like the fact that there are no ice machines, no water fountains anywhere and when you requested for ice or simple tap water, it seemed like an inconvenience for the staff. I know this seems to be the norm in most European hotels but it sucks. I won't stay here again

The hotel is in a very busy area and it is extremely noisy. There is a siren every 5 minutes or less, buses and trams, and constant traffic. The room had only heating and it was unbearable even if we turned off as it was a warm spring day. No porter or help with luggage. The room , classic suite, was very large with 1 and a half bathrooms, but furniture was old,and dated. Will not be back.

Charming Hotel with Easy Access to City

Lovely hotel, with beautiful old-fashioned decor, very close to the centre of the city. Excellent breakfasts, friendly and helpful staff. Our suite was spacious and comfortable and the hotel windows have external blinds to reduce noise and light. Modern, upgraded rooms are available but we prefer classic furnishings.

The location was good but the hotel is very very noisy. It’s between two main roads and the windows are single glazed. We asked for a back room but they can’t if you have a child as they are smaller rooms at the back.
Also the reception area smells bad, but not upstairs the smell there was fine. Otherwise good location.

The stay at the hotel was far from enjoyable. This establishment offers no services whatsoever. If you’re simply looking for a place to sleep, it might suffice, but only if you’re staying in the newer section of the hotel.

The cleanliness is extremely poor, with massive amounts of dust under the bed.

In summary, considering the price, it’s acceptable, but don’t expect anything beyond the bare minimum. There’s no room service, no VIP benefits—absolutely nothing.

They need to renew the facilities and their furniture. The upholstery of the furniture gives a bad impression although in its heyday it must have been a luxurious hotel. Because of the location, if you invested in its facilities, it would be better than any hotel near the Danube. However, it is worth staying there.

The property is well located , there is a metro right next to it also a lot of groceries store and restaurants. Great location to stay . Front desk customer service are ok but not too friendly . Also there is a strong odor as soon as you walked in to the main hotel lobby and in the room bathroom (smell a lot a humidity and source ) however the room was very spacious with an excellent view .

Hotel with genuine character

Excellent location!!! Metro station outside and a 5 minute walk away from the bustling jewish district with its nightlife and cafes.
This hotel has actual character, you sense its history and if walls could talk...
Great buffet breakfast.
But yeah its the unique charm that won me over.
Staff are polite and professional.
Loved our stay in Budapest and the Astoria was a great spot to base ourselves.

This hotel was OK. It is in a very good area and there is a lot to do around there. The city is lovely and Budapest is highly recommended for anyone. But this hotel did come up short in some respects. It had mainly to do with the staff that did not seem to know a lot of basic things that they needed to do. I was supposed to be a VIP stay with multiple of advantages. I received none of them. The staff was borderline incompetent at times. Their breakfast was not good. Their bartender did not know how to make a martini. The front staff could not arrange for transportation to the airport in a professional manner. This left me frustrated and disappointed. But the actual hotel itself is nice and the room was nice. Overall I probably would not stay here again if I had any choice.

A beautiful hotel with lots of original fittings and features. A film crew were then when we arrived which made it feel quite busy but we were able to check in early and make the most of our stay. Hotel is on quite a busy intersection with traffic and sirens late into the night.
Convenient for hop on/hop off bus and walking to main tourist areas.
Really friendly and helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast. Would happily stay there again!
