As this was an early bday weekend for my sister and I, we splurged on the oceanview rooms. Wow, totally worth it. Waking up early to watch the sunrise. You can see and hear seals in the water. Eagles flying over head all day long. Great blue herons, hummingbirds, lots of shorebirds. Rooms are beautiful too. King bed was comfy. Nice big flatscreen tv. Staff were super friendly.

My only complaint was buying a vegetable croissant - croissant was the only choice for bread - I bought it early in the morning the bottom was soggy and disgusting. It had clearly been made the day before and liquid had fallen through. However money was refunded cheerfully, with no issues. Just disappointing because everything else was excellent

Different from other hotels I’ve been in. This one has abit of noise from other people. But it’s fine and doesn’t bother me since at night time everyone is sleeping. Random doors shutting loudly. I guess old building is like that. But the renovated rooms are decent and nice. I only had a chance to try their coffee from the cafe and it was good enough for me. Enjoyed it with the beautiful sunrise by the beach on the balcony. Only downside is our balcony is on the roof over the restaurant I think? so that part kind of blocked abit of the bottom. Nice little family friendly 2 night stay for us.

Our room must have been situated beside a utility room as there was noise all night that sounded like a clothes dryer with shoes in it. And then in the morning at 6am a loud delivery truck right outside our window, beeping and banging as the hotel restaurant received its order. Not restful at all!

hotel is dog tolerant. lots of areas your dog is not allowed to use the washroom - you can go to the back of the dark wet muddy parking lot to let them go to the washroom. staff are always nice though. i'd say always fairly clean. my bathtub had a very slow drain so it was a bit gross to shower in (told them about it). rooms are not that sound proof. i usually stay here so its good when its affordable!

The Hotel has and is undergoing some renovations with a clear desire to elevate up. Location is lovely as is the view from the ocean facing rooms. Really appreciated the Nespresso machine and creamers in the fridge.
Currently they are missing a huge opportunity by not having their Front Desk staff, in particular, trained in customer service at the same level the hotel hopes to achieve.

The next morning, 5 minutes after 11am housekeeping is banging (well loudly knocking as they could hear the hair dryer) on the door, immediately followed by the Front Desk phoning asking when we’d be out.
Now if this was a busy conference hotel with numerous check in and check outs all expected I would fully understand, but this is Parksville, a busy SUMMER vacation town, and it’s now mid-November well in to the shoulder season.

The staff was excellent. We ate dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed our experience and the food was excellent. The grounds are beautiful. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
My only complaint is the indoor pool was being renovated and I wasn't notified at booking. I feel hotels should let you know if an amenity isn't available before you book. I specifically picked this place for the pool and beachside access. When you travel with kids the small stuff matters. But other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The rooms did have a moldy smell in them and there is considerable noise from other peoples rooms. The walls and ceiling need to be insulated better as it was quite loud.

An ocean view room is 100% worth it, watching the time come in and out from your own bed is so lovely. The restaurant there has lovely staff and great brunch! Walkable to shops, nice very short walk down the beach. Also beautifully kept grounds. I would absolutely stay here again next time I visit Parksville!

Breakfast was not included but their dining room offered a good variety of options at good value. The ocean view from the room was lovely and there was easy access to the beach. The room was clean and comfortable (though I found the bed too soft and pillows too poofy and lumpy). The nespresso made great coffee for relaxing on the balcony. Big fitness area with squash court. And beautiful nature art by local artists all through the hotel, even the rooms. We would come back again. Hopefully the pool and sauna will be completed by then.
