I'm giving this 5 stars almost entirely because the staff at the front desk were so helpful. I needed to buy extra luggage and they helped me locate the store, called the store to make sure they had luggage and then when I came back I had another issue figuring out my new luggage and they solved that problem too. Just an overall willingness to go over the top to help. I was very grateful. The room was nice, the view of the harbor and little beach very peaceful. All was good, but the staff was excellent.

Nicer hotel in Port Angeles. Great location next to bars and restaurants and the Pier. We were there one night July 13th. They were doing repairs on the parking lot where the majority of the rooms face. I’d suggest paying the extra $40 to get a room looking out to the water. It will save you noise from the parking lot and pool. If you have kids , the first floor would be best to avoids stairs and let the kids jump around freely. The opposite for those who want quiet. Hotels should really disclose when you book if noises repairs are scheduled.

We upgraded to a room with a water view and it was great! The room was updated and clean. It had a balcony overlooking the water. It was worth the upgrade. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We used the bikes that they lend out for free to ride the waterfront trail. The location is probably the best of any other hotel in Port Angeles. It is walking distance to the wharf which has restaurants ,shops and cafes. There are also other restaurants within walking distance. It is only five minutes drive to the Olympic National Park Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center. If you are going to stay in Port Angeles definitely stay at the Red Lion.

Room was very pleasant although beds were so high that my 88 year old mother could not climb into them without assistance. Not enough ramps for wheelchair access and none of the doors to the outside had auto open or even a a doorstop to hold it open when wrestling a wheelchair through the door. Ice machine could not be accessed at all from the room without negotiating stairs.

Clean and comfortable. Doors didn’t shut automatically when leaving the room. Most staff was friendly. One made me feel like I was an inconvenience. A little pricy for what it was and to have a pretentious staff person on top of that wasn’t great.
Kids loved the beach and the pool.
There aren’t a lot of reasonably priced food options around the hotel.

Booked several months in advance, requested beach side view, but once we arrived staff told me they were completely booked out and could not give us beach side view. Front desk staff were rude, and unaccommodating. The area of Port Angeles did not have much to offer, and I would advise other travelers to look elsewhere. This hotel was by far the most expensive of my trip, and was not worth the price.

The front desk is as not helpful at all. We were told our room would be ready early and they would call. We waited in the town- not much to do- called them twice and 3 1/2 hours later we went to check in and they told us they forgot to call. We wasted our whole day. The workout facility has 3 pieces of cardio equipment and that is it. Very small. The pool door would constantly get stuck so you had to find someone to let you in and the town is dirty.

My stay at this property, which I thought was a hotel turned out to be a very average motel. There are two sections the front section faces the water. Another section is a large building back from the one facing the water and this one faces a parking lot and it is certainly just like a very inexpensive motel. I certainly think this section should not be advertised as a hotel. They shower area was extremely tight and the drain hardly worked.

Very old property that they've tried to maintain to the best of their ability. Price point doesn\"/ match up with a run down property. Better off checking out other hotels in the area. Lots of other properties around. Location was good. One of the bed sheets had stains on them. Housekeeping did not remove trash nor old wet towels. Had to flag them down to replenish coffee, and toilet paper. There should be some standardized checking of rooms.

Upon entering the reception, there were 5 workers behind the desk. One offered to help the only other customer there and the remaining 4 completely ignored me. I had to finally to approach someone and ask if I could check-in. On the 2nd day the cleaning staff only replaced the towels and emptied one garbage. The beds were not made, the coffee and amenities were not restocked and 2 other garbages were not emptied. I then learned (via google search) that the property policy was that we had to request cleaning. Maybe they should have told me that? Anyways, I sent a message via Expedia messaging requesting a cleaning and I ran into a cleaner and told him we'd be out in about an hour and please clean then. When we returned at the end of the day, the room was not touched. I called the front desk and told them and asked if they could at least bring new towels. They said they would but the new towels never arrived so we walked down the hall and took them from the open towel room ourselves. The room itself was pretty new and roomy, but the exterior walkways could use some sweeping (especially below the middle stairs). Big picture: For a motel that costs > $300 a night, I think better cleaning, service and amenities is in order.

We stayed here for two nights and were impressed by how attentive and helpful the staff were throughout our visit. The location is a definite highlight — you're right on the doorstep of Olympic National Park, which is incredibly convenient.

That said, the property itself could benefit from some updates and modernization. One tip for future guests: request a water-view room. My friend had one and the views were absolutely stunning. We ended up overlooking the parking lot, which was a bit of a letdown by comparison.

We didn't get a chance to try the on-site restaurant, as we preferred to explore local dining options. Overall, it's a solid choice — especially given the limited accommodation options in the area.

Good & Bad
Very clean rooms with recent updates.
Misleading and overcharging- 1/3 of the rooms face the water (for and extra $40 a night) and the “Mountain View” is a parking lot with a cargo bin and short tree line. To use the extra amenities (that include a pool in the middle of a parking lot and non-working jacuzzi that has an Arnold Palmer jug full of chemicals as a barricade) cost an extra $10. The workout room contains three cardio machines, a mat and an exercise ball. Laundry is $8 to wash and $8 to dry- but says it’s $2.50. When this was brought to the attention of the staff on two different occasions they said manager would have to handle it and said they could not refund unless it was a direct booking- but yet they have a credit card on file for damages and crickets are chirping.
Lastly, with a marathon in town, the price went waaaay up. If cleanliness is super important as a traveler, then this is the place. If ethics are important, then these details are worth considering.
