Wow, what an amazing place! Two nights simply wasn’t enough! We loved everything about it-so welcoming, friendly & attention to detail was amazing! Thank you so much-it finished off our holiday perfectly. We’d totally recommend the breakfast too-super fresh & tasty. Thank you! :-)

Location overviewing the sea was fantastic. It wasn’t far to walk down to the village and if you are to tired to walk up just call Tom that became our driver and guide.
Breakfast was a delight with warm food of your choice. If we should have anything to complaint over it was the dust under the beds.
We did miss AC but we knew that before booking.

The Mariner’s room had an incredible view over Simon’s Town harbor, was extra comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good and the location is away from traffic while 2 minutes drive to the waterfront and restaurants. Just mind the stairs to access the rooms, not for everyone.

This beautifuly presented Guesthouse is perfectly situated by the mountains overlooking the beautiful SimonsTown harbour and False Bay. With free parking I was greeted at the property by the lovely manager and staff memebers who are so friendly, never stopped smiling and couldn't do enough for me. I was lucky enough to stay in Room 2, stunning presented with a 4 poster bed and balcony. The views are incredible, especially for sunrise! The all inclusive breakfast caters for all and is served in the dining and lounge area again with stunning views over the town. During my stay upon recommendation from the Manager, i visited Boulders beach to see the penguins, some museums and the lighthouse cafe for lucnh to name a few. For me this was the perfect setting for my short stay in SimonsTown and will be the first place I look to book upon returning to this wonderful part of South Africa. Thank you so much for looking after me for my visit. Its somewhere i look back very fondly on for my holiday in South Africa 2025.

This was my third stay at the Mariner's Guesthouse, and I would not stay anywhere else. The accommodations are top shelf, the staff is more than helpful and quite gregarious. They attend to every need with exceptional service and kindness. Not one complaint! By the way, Mandy who oversees the property, would be a blessing to any hospitality property! Wonderful person.

Wonderful staff and great views at this charming little place. Excellent breakfast, and well positioned for those who enjoy a good walk to get either to town (with dining/shopping options) or the Boulders penguin colony. If you're driving, there is a rather steep ascent to get to the parking area, and if you have mobility issues, be aware that there are lots of stairs within the property. All in all, very welcoming, though! Hospitality was top notch and our little one adored the staff.

We enjoyed our time here and liked the property and the staff at the guesthouse, Mandy especially looked after us very well, the guesthouse is walking distance to boulders beach and Simons town centre, which suited us as we didn’t have a car.

A local car company booked for us, over-charged us for our onward journey, this was very annoying … be careful !

Superb Value with bonusses!

Very comfortable with attentive service and brilliant view over the harbour and bay. Nice bonus to have a balcony with a view as well. Parking was conveniently on-site and even though on the street, it never felt unsafe. Breakfast was great - never oily and very tasteful, the home-baked muffins superb. Both the manageress and the hard-working chef/waiter/duty manager/cleaner are worth a mention. He seems to be an extraordinary asset to the establishment and I'm embarrassed that I now cannot remember his name. A clean and superb property.

I loved my stay! Wish it was longer. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious and comfortable room. Good quality bed - loved the decor (light and fresh, not too cluttered). My room had an air-conditioner, but it wasn't hot, so I didn't end up using it. Beautiful view of the harbour and close to Boulders beach and penguins.

Stunning. Modern and fresh, plenty of sunlight. Fantastic reception, prompt, kind. Room is lovely, over looking the sea. Lay in bed and watch the sunset over the harbor. I can see whales from bed! Impressed with all the bathroom toiletries available. In the common room we shared a bottle of wine that was available in the honesty bar on a lovely patio. There is a telescope to see the creatures closer. Everything is perfect. Clean sheets. Snacks in room

I thought the property was very beautiful and the staff was incredibly helpful. My only thing is was my room. There were a bunch of ants crawling on the floor near my bed. It made me feel that cleaning didn’t do a good enough job. When I told the staff they were eager to clean it up.

The property is on a very steep hill, with treacherous steps, which was unexpected. Quite a walk to local places, but UBER works well, even over New Year. Laid back and quiet place, with a beautiful Garden Apartment, where we stayed for three nights. Friendly and helpful staff. Honesty bar. We did not eat here so cannot review food, but an evening meal requires 24-hours notice, and the property only takes RAND CASH.

We had lovely service and had two interconnecting enjoyed-suite rooms (which was perfect for two friends travelling together), one of which enjoyed the great views over False Bay. Lovely breakfast with the same views.The only disadvantage of the views from the elevated position is the walk back uphill from one of the handful of good restaurants in Simon’s Town (which doesn’t seem to have a taxi service!).

The hotel communications were excellent prior to travel, about our unexpected delay and during our stay. It is in a great location with fabulous access to all that Kalk Bay, Simonstown and beyond has to offer. A beautiful and professionally run guesthouse that feels like a boutique hotel. Fantastic!

This is an amazing place to stay! You can't beat the views, the complimentary breakfast and the staff that went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice stay. Our room was very nice and comfortable, the whole place feels very cozy too! Would highly recommend to anyone heading to Simons Town, you won't be disappointed.

Mariners a Great place to stay in Simons Town

Mariners was accommodating in that they let us check in early to prepare for an early wedding.
Everything was explained to us and Lizelle made sure that we gout our breakfast 1st as there was a large group staying over.
Rooms were comfortable and had a great view. Good bed.
Only 2 things that could have been better were :
- Honesty Bar was not stocked
- No Salt & Pepper on Table
There were 2 small things compared to our overall stay - Definite Recommend

Give me Simon's Town A N Y day!

Did my research and wow did it pay off. Mariner Guesthouse is all that you read. Comfortable, welcoming, safe, clean with world class views. Several minutes from Boulders Beach and the endemic African Penguins. An hour(ish) to Cape of Good Hope with more spectacular beauty. Got the luxury room with kitchenette and patio. Decided this was no time to bail on Capetown. Their water issue could be mine. I wanted to support the local businesses, to keep minimal footprint, and live life to the fullest while there. We decided that we could make \"the water thing\" work- that it was no reason to skip South Africa or the area.
Trust me, NOTHING stopped us. The beauty was overwhelming and the only drawback for us was 2 pms was not enough time in Simon's Town nor at the Mariner Guesthouse. I was stunned to take a \"bucket shower\" and feel that my hair had simply never felt softer. NEVER! Go figure.
Breakfast was AMAZING. With a pitcher of water on the buffet, may I add. Lavender flowerettes (one of many thoughtful touches) garnished the daily hot dishes (your choice among 4). Lots of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, pastries, breads. Yummy. Manager Daleen answered every possible question. My husband lost his fancy-dancy android phone - they found it and put it in a safe. Nightmare averted! Don't let the lack of water be a reason to skip this area now. Support them- you will learn more about their country as well as broaden your flexibility- always a good trait for the world traveler!

Excellent position. Wonderful view from balcony across False Bay. Well equipped and comfortable room. Good breakfasts. Easy walk to Seaforth beach and also to the penguins at Boulders beach. Walked downhill to Simon's Town for evening meal - and (rather more slowly) back up afterwards.

One night stay only. Did not do evening meal unless booked in advance. Gave suggestions as to places to eat. Lots of steps within hotel and no lift which could be a problem if walking issues. Lovely place to stay. Complementary sherry and fruit plus an honesty bar. Good breakfast selection which was nicely presented.

5 night stay over Christmas

Booked Mariner Lodge over Christmas as we wanted somewhere comfortable and relaxing. Our room was beautiful, spacious with four poster bed and large bathroom and balcony. Mini bar and tea/coffee facilities were good. Breakfast was the best of our 2 week stay and the staff were helpful. We would recommend this to fellow travellers. Close to bars/ restuarants and the penguins 🐧🐧🐧

A five star beauty

We arrived at this hotel after a very traumatic experience of a smash and grab at a red light, we had about $15.000 of goods stolen including all of laptops and communication devices so I could keep in touch with home and bookings. When I was greeted with such a friendly smile in such a beautiful place I burst into tears. Our stay was so comfortable, the food was excellent and the entire place had such a sense of calm about it. I would recommend this place for sure to anyone wanting a nice comfortable place to stay.

Construction Site with no water

Our room was clean but the staff failed to inform us that the water would be switched off when we got up in the morning to get our flight home. There is a drought so they should have known.
The hotel did not tell us in advance that they are building new rooms and there would be hammering from 08.00 to 17.00 each day.

Whilst the view was awesome, the friendly helpful staffreally made the stay memorable. Oh! And the breakfasts included in the tariff were just the best. Thanks for a wonderful week. The fire in the cosy lounge was such a pleasure to come back to on each of our chilly August Winter evenings.

This guesthouse was amazing! The breakfast was delicious, the staff was amazing, and the view was remarkable. We stayed in room #2 and LOVED the view from the balcony. The location was very safe, quiet, and peaceful. The fireplace in the seating area by the breakfast room was charming and cozy. It was easy to walk to the many restaurants in Simon's Town and to visit the penguins. We wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else if we return to Simon's Town!

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. Its a lovely house with great views. The staff are friendly and the breakfasts are great. Warning! it is located on the hill above Simons Town so it is a steep walk to get in and out of the town.
