Bedroom was fine, but the bathroom needs an upgrade - the shower was misaligned and badly lacked power. Tinned tomatoes and paper cups for the juice and coffee at breakfast is not a good look. Restaurant closes too early in the evening to be of any use for guests who have a full day.

Upon arrival into the council estate hotel car park, beware of local travellers, as you you find your way in, there is No clear signage nor anyone to great you. At first I thought I had walked into a abandoned hotel from the 90’s I managed to find my way up to the reception floor where it was empty and a young man desperately trying to deal with a local travellers, a phone call and myself trying to check in. Considering the position he was left in, he was doing really well. Got the keys to our 2 rooms on the 7th floor, once we opened the door, both rooms absolutely wreaked of cigarettes and B.O. both rooms smelled the same, so not just a one off. Clearly not had new carpets since smoking was banned. There is no Air conditioning or venting, the rooms apart from the window which you can crack open an inch. Lucky we were too tired and went to bed, but the local druggies outside kept us awake from 1.00am until 4.00am screaming. It was a mixture of faulty towers and Grand theft Auto combined into one nightmare. Breakfast finishes at 9.00, when we arrived looked ok, but not really a selection, the coffee machine was out of order, when I asked the only member of staff, where can I get a coffee, she said I would have to have the juice. We reluctantly ate some kind of an egg and bean with overcooked sausage breakfast and left politely left without causing a scene. We booked this hotel, because it has a pool and a gym, the pool and gym were closed. Terrible hotel, Do not book it.

Very very short staffed only one member of staff on reception. Only booked for the pool and spa facilities and on arrival was told due to one person been ill the whole spa was closed!? One person manning the entire spa in a 700+ room hotel. Not fair on the guests at all! Totally misleading. Will not return.

Pool was closed, closes early on a Sunday, so disappointing. People playing loud music and shouting, put up with it until 3am then complained to reception, apparently other people complained and nothing was done, they went to tell them eventually but obviously don't like doing confrontation so they ignore the problems. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Wanting a lovely weekend away with my wife to be, having a not so pleasant experience. Our first room we was given was dirty and not maintained at all to a good cleanliness standard at all. Complain at reception they did upgrade us to another room however this was still dirty and not what i was expecting at all.

Awful beyond words with rude unprofessional staff
Stayed one night on the coniston suite. Room wasn’t even ready or cleaned. Told reception only to get a unmeaningful apology. Woke up to banging from the cleaner telling me it’s a 10am Checkout on a bank holiday rude with a stinking attitude.
No tea bags in the suite only to be told they are kept in reception !!’n you pay for hospitality and expect a warm welcome in a 4 star hotel !! No wonder Britannia hotels is constantly reviewed badly and this hotel typifies how poorly staff are trained. I would rather have a nights stay at bates motel !

The staff at reception, the bar and especially at the restaurant were great, the man at the pool wasn’t very helpful and needs to work on his people skills.
The room was ok but hadn’t been cleaned properly there was piles of cigarette ash on the window sill. The kids cot beds had broken and missing slats so not comfortable or safe.
The hotel is cashless but wasn’t told except the gym where you will need a £1 for the lockers.

Varied choice for breakfast, although hot food was cheap, overcooked and cold on the servery.
Rooms were dated and unclean, sleeping on a park bench would have been more comfortable than the bed provided!
We arrived late (after 10pm) had to pay for 24 hour parking permit, not listed as a requirment and when asked if we could stay past the 10am check out was told could be arranged at £15 per hour for up to 2 hours!
Ammenities such as the pool, sauna, etc were actually closed, (opening hours are between 9am -3pm!)
Hotel is in dire need of some maintenance, a lick of paint would do wonders!
The old woman on reception was rude and arrogant especially when asking about staying later, but when I pointed out the data breach, giving me a door card in a stapled envelope showing details of a previous guest (name, telephone no, address, email, etc) she wasnt bothered! Shall not be back, ever.
My advice, find a better hotel or guest house, nothing grand about this hotel

The pool needed booking a slot. When I tried to go it was fully booked. The reason we chose this hotel was the pool in case my daughter wanted to swim. She couldn't. There is also a charge for the pool even is staying here which I thought was crazy. Nothing going on in the bar and was one of the worst pints I have ever had. Breakfast was mediocre. The location and price were great.

Upon arrival at reception, the entire area had a very strong cigarette smell, apparently from other guests smoking in prohibited areas. Unfortunately, this smell persisted throughout our entire stay when going through the reception area.
Check-in was very slow, with only one staff member on duty at 3pm — one of the busiest times of the day. We had booked an executive room, but it looked quite tired and in need of refurbishment. The room was mostly clean but very dusty, with rubbish found under the bed. The shower had what appeared to be mould around the edges.
We could also clearly smell cigarette smoke coming from other guests’ bathrooms in the adjoining room.
Overall, the stay was just okay.

yes the shops were nereby, there was not enough beverages.
Also, we paid for dinner, but the time given for dinner was wrong, hence we missed our dinner and there was no refund.
There was a torn curtain and our bed linen was not changed for the four days we spent in the hotel.

Also, there was disturbances on one of the day in one of the rooms, i had to call reception before it was attended to.

This hotel is a tale of two halves, family area is not as fresh as the adult area. The conditions are not fit for purpose for a family and they really need to be looked at.

Asked for my room to be cleaned again and was told cleaners are in at 4:30pm, and then when I got back it hadn't been touched apart from making the beds again.

Camp bed had springs falling off it which I told reception and they just used the same one, so I had to make a floor bed for the kids (which they loved) but for the price this hotel is overpriced and unhealthy dirty.

You can see dust skirts along the walls and under the camp beds, aswell as finding bottles still under the bed from the last occupant and a few other things.

Reception staff just lost interest in the amount of people complaining and couldn't care.

This place needs a huge overhaul and soon

We got moved 3 times 1st room 508 had blood on pillows and bugs on bedding 2nd room 416 the windows where nailed shut and the double room was 2 single beds pushed together. The mattress where awful felt every spring 3rd room was okish room 624 only problem was the window leaked and there was a iron burn in the carpet. The staff work fantastic seeing as they seem short staffed. Still waiting on a reply about being moved so many times and the state of rooms

We stayed in this hotel before when it was Hilton and didn’t have a problem that’s why we came back but wouldn’t stop again

Room was clean. It had a big bed which was comfy. There was shortbread and things provided. Although the bed was very squeaky and the place could be doing with a little refresh. If it was my room the first thing I would change would be to swap the dressing table and tv around the dressing table was in the middle so when my partner was doing her hair for ages it was hard to get past.

Overall had a really good stay at the hotel which we got for an absolute bargain for the night.

Awful two night stay here.
Switched rooms 3 times due to the state and noise from neighbouring rooms.
As soon as i exited the lift on the 5th floor i was hit with a very stromg smell of weed.
My room was tidy, but not very clean. The bath was stained (seems as though the enamel is coming off, this was the same in all 3 rooms). I asked to switch rooms, staff were very pleasant and helpful, i was moved down the hallway.
2nd room was in a very similar state, bath and cleanliness, however the window was nit fully closed, on trying to close it, due to wind and traffic noise, i found it had been screwed shut, but not fully sealed so the noise continued through the night. It was 23:00 at this point and i wasn't prepared to move me and my son again.
2nd night, we came back and the noise from the unsealed window and neighbouring room (walls were paper thin) pushed me to ask for another room.
3rd room was very similar in terms of cleanliness, however it was quiet.
When walking through the corridors it seemed a few rooms were having parties, seen quite a few drunk people heafing out for cigarettes etc.
Staff were friendly, hotel was appalling.

Biggest issue was that the swimming pool facilities close at 1700 which is not clearly stated, this was a main reason why I chose the hotel and it should at least be something that is advised at check in.

We did an online check in the day before arrival. We thought it was just pick up the key and relax. After a long wait to check in (over an hour) We eventually got the key to the room and found someone else's belonging in there. Apologies were made the receptionist and she offered to upgrade us to one of the 'executive' type rooms by way of compensation. The room looked good but we could hear constant traffic noises. We thought a window was open. The window was fully closed but damaged - with cold air blowing around the frame into the room. The standard duvet was was very thin - we had a cold and restless night. We eventually got an extra duvet the following day after 2 or 3 requests.

The fire alarm went off on the Monday. No idea if it was a 'drill' or a fire? We did not know it was a weekly drill because there was no warning signs in the room. Myself and another 'disabled' person had to struggle to the stairs and struggled down 3 flights of stairs from 6th floor - before someone informed us it 'was' a drill. I dread to think what could happen in the event of real fire!

In summary - We had no problems with staff. The amenities were good, but our stay was ruined by the room experience re: traffic noise and cold nights

We were extremely happy with everything apart from the Christmas lunch the food was good but the queuing was terrible I think this needs the top dogs to sort this out for sure we thought it was going to be waiter service and should of been it would of been a lot smoother and faster for sure apart from that we loved it I am going to give a massive hand out to Helen she worked wonders and tried her absolute best with everything well done Helen she needs a big fat wage rise for everything she did/does oh just 1 last thing the bar should be open all day and tea coffee should be available all day too and maybe entertainment during the day this would make the grand so much Grander

We stayed 2 nights, the first room was infested with clothes moths in the bed and flying everywhere. Adam (reception) was very helpful and gave us a new room the next day. When I put the shower on the whole bracket including the shower head fell off the wall and rendered it unusable. The shaver mirror light didn’t work and the skirting board under the wardrobe was broken off and showing sharp nail/wood the whole length. I filled in a report card from the room and gave it to reception staff who said they would pass it on. The food was plentiful but very low quality. Well positioned hotel for walking into town with good views.
