Nice hotel right on the Rhine waterfront. Rooms are compact but comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is an extra but would highly recommend, a great spread served with a friendly smile.
Owner Scott was wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful when one of our party took a tumble on the street and needed a trip to emergency. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

I want to come back here.

My sister and I stayed here 6 nights. We were a bit reluctant about what the rooms or service might be due to the reasonable price for our stay. WOW, we were jumping for joy. Friendly reception, fast elevator, super clean rooms and wow what a view! Waking up to that river view while enjoying coffee and tea each morning was heavenly for us. We’d been in Europe for 2 weeks prior and were exhausted from all our adventures. This sweet Gunther hotel was our savior in learning to just relax and take a big breath. Quiet little town. With the boats a few yards away to carry us up or down river, a bike rental around the corner, the hotel next door has an outdoor area where we enjoyed cocktails and a great little market just two blocks up to the Main Street. We had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, (but I missed having bacon), but we enjoyed starting each day fully nourished. I do want to visit again. This place felt like home away from home. Just for reference, the train station you want is not the first one that says “Boppard”. Get off at HBF Boppard I believe.

Very good central location in Boppard at the river from near the central square and KD boat landing.
There are two kinds of rooms with a balcony and a river view, I recommend getting the larger one, if available — it is worth the price difference. (Although the smaller ones are quite fine, too).
The breakfast is ok - same as in other similar hotels, maybe a little less selection.

(Don’t forget to make special arrangements if arriving after 9pm)

A great hotel to explore Boppard and the surrounding areas and towns. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and the location very convenient, as well as lovely, on the Rhine. My only warning would be, if you are a light/complex sleeper, the pillows and beds are uncomfortable and small. Typical of a small hotel like this one, but it is something to keep in mind. Other than that, it was good.

Overall, a great experience. The staff were all wonderful, and helped/suffered an English-heavy traveller like me. Boppard is a nice small town with welcoming people and some great restaurants. The breakfast at garni Günther was a decent buffet spread. Same thing every morning, but the amount of options available was commendable. The only issue I encountered was no hot water in the shower for a couple days, but they fixed ASAP as soon as they knew about it. A short commute by regional rail or bus to Koblenz, which is wild during Karneval, but has great shopping and restaurants for tourists.
The view at garni Günther from the second floor balcony down the Rhein was spectacular. Room was spacious, (by Europe standards) bathroom was not (but that is Europe hotels in general). Cleaned and straightened every day. Tons of shelf/cupboard space. Really appreciated the kind service with the hotel staff. Would recommend for tourists, solo travelers and couples/families for getaways or low-key holiday.

Awesome Hotel on the River

This was an awesome hotel to stay at. It is right on the river across from where the KD river boats dock. The rooms have a great balcony overlooking the river. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Several of them speak excellent English. This is a very typical German style hotel. The rooms were nice. If you want to stay in a convenient town on the Rhine River than this hotel in Boppard is a great choice. I would definitely stay here again. The town and the hotel are excellent.

Hotel is in a good position with rooms that overlook the beautiful Rhine river. Our room was nice and quiet but was very small with a toilet separate to the bathroom which was not ideal for hand washing. The carpet was stained and the chairs in the room had no spring left in the seats and looked grubby. Breakfast was good but small things like extra serviettes and a bottle of help yourself chilled water and help yourself juice, we’re lacking. We were satisfied overall, given the price, but would suggest giving the carpet a wash and changing the chairs.

I stayed for 4 nights in April in one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking the Rhein. The room was basic but large and comfortable with an ensuite bathroom including a bath. But the reason for choosing this room was the view and it certainly didn't disappoint - fantastic. Obviously well situated on the front the hotel also offered breakfast which again came with a view and was typically German. Staff were attentive and helpful. Only slight problem was the temperamental WiFi but that's not really an issue. Overall excellent and would definitely stay again and recommend.

Wonderful stay!

Boppard is a gorgeous little town on the Rhine. Easy to get around to other towns nearby by train or car. This hotel is right on the river front with only s small esplanade area between you and the river (a lot of other towns around have the railway between the buildings and the river). We really enjoyed our stay, the owners Sonya and Scott are just lovely, as is all there staff. So helpful with information and tips about where to go and what to do. Our room was clean and comfy, the balcony large enough for two people to sit on and watch the world go by. As peaceful as it sounds, you are sure aware that you are in the middle of a large busy country. The cruise boats, barges and trains running up and down the Rhine, let you know that. But it was interesting to watch and see a very different world. Some people have found the noise from the trains difficult, but honestly I always wear earplugs to sleep with when travelling (As I take a bit if time to sleep in a strange bed and I find they help as I am a light sleeper), so for me this was not a problem. Breakfast was nice and plenty of it. If I am ever lucky enough to return to this part of the world I would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Gunther.

This small family run hotel is so charming. Such a lovely change from the chain hotels we normally stay in. The owner's are on site every day and they are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. From our first morning the lady serving breakfast remembered what each of us liked to drink.It sounds like a small thing but it is these individual little touches that make such a difference. We had a river view room with a balcony. The view was amazing. It took me one night to get used to the train noises from across the river but they then only added to the experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Cannot fault this hotel. We were immediately made welcome and no request was too much for the delightful, English speaking staff, and ever present personable owner.
Room simply furnished, but neat and pleasant. Everything had been thought of.

Watching passers by on the riverside walk was absorbing, and the nearby ferry made access to the opposite bank very easy. Nearby cafes and restaurants made the lack of same in our hotel totally irrelevant. The old town itself is a delight, quiet but lively and there appears to be no sign of the ubiquitous hooliganism.
We are very happy to have chosen hotel Gungther, and hope one day to return.

Great for families!

This was our favorite hotel over our three weeks in Germany. The small town of Boppard was ideal for jumping off to other destinations along the Rhine and other outlying areas. This hotel was perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. After weeks of shoeboxing a family of four into single hotel rooms, we were pleasantly surprised to be checked into a spacious three room family apartment! Breakfast was the basic but hearty German selection of meats, cheeses, eggs, breads, cereals, fruits, juices, and coffee/tea, but It hit the spot and usually kept us full past lunch. The hotel was centrally located within minutes of everywhere in town, and the staff was always helpful in suggesting great local places for dinner. Looking forward to visiting again. We will surely stay again at this wonderful family-owned gem of a hotel! Beware, however, if only staying briefly over a weekend as most everything in town (and it seems most of Germany) closes on Sundays.

A real mixed bag. The food at the restaurant was good. The beds were too hard. The pool was very nice and there were other fun things to do like table tennis, mini golf, and legal bowling. But I was extremely dissatisfied with the wifi. It didn't work most of the time, not just in my room, but anywhere in the grounds. The cellular signal was so week also that I was cut off from the outside. Unacceptable for me.

Boppard is a pretty sleepy town, but has a great and relaxing atmosphere. It would be a great starting point for any of the region's wine tours. The gentleman at the front desk spoke excellent English and offered us his parking spot when we couldn't find one (parking spaces, while plentiful, are hard to find empty until the late evening). Hotel breakfast was excellent and the rooms were huge, if a bit dated in decor. We had a courtyard view, though others looked onto the river.

Charm and value on the Rhine

Just a last-minute booking for a single night's stay, but we were nicely welcomed and enjoyed the charming little town of Boppard very much. Our room was really a suite, and much larger than we expected. Breakfast was a generous buffet and friendly service. We would enjoy another chance to stroll along the Rhine and we would definitely choose the Hotel Garni Gunther.

A good value right along the riverfront.

The hotel feels a little tired; we were split on how much we liked it. Our room faced the inner courtyard. This was nice as it was indeed more shielded from the river (shipping) and road noise and from the church bells. However, the evening was noisy with restaurant and office activity at the ground floor of the courtyard. Our room was actually a 1-bedroom suite and felt VERY roomy. The towels in the bathroom were by far the best found in our vacation. Warm and no screen on the windows, but so many windows that a little bit of breeze in the room was obtained. There is a sun terrace within the courtyard on the 2rd or 3rd floor, for the guests. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
There is a small lift. The breakfast was one of the best of our 2 weeks of vacation, with the best coffee and with excellent meats and cheeses in particular. However, the location of the food layout was particularly cramped. You can find parking in public spaces on the fronting road along the river or in public lots; you must pay at the parking lot machines for the daytime hours only.
This is a very, very nice hotel if only it didn’t seem a little dated.

I would not go again. The room was old and worn. Bathroom did get cold water only by dripping. The bathroom smelled horrible, for sure due to a mold problem. The restaurant toilet in the hallway was only partially working: Men’s restroom was out of use. Hand washing tub was out of water, so you could not wash your hands.

Maybe the view would compensate for something if you get a room with a river view, otherwise stay away.

Wir sind schon mehrfach in diesem kleinen, familienbetriebenen Hotel gewesen, immer mit Balkon zur Rheinseite. Man hat hier einen tollen Blick auf den Rhein und das Treiben auf der Rheinpromenade. Alle Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen sind supernett und immer hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer ( es gibt unterschiedliche Größen, auch bzgl. der Bäder ) sind einfach ausgestattet, aber gemütlich und vor allem sauber. Das Frühstück kostet 13€/pP und ist gut. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Nice hotel. We booked a small room with balcony to the Rhine and had an excellent view. The room was still big enough for 3 days. Curious thing: Every room has a hot water maker in the room. They offer Tea, sugar and creamer but no coffee. This is on purpose says the owner. Who knows why.

Leider ist dass Hotel teilweise etwas in die Jahre gekommen.
Das Zimmer entsprach nicht der gebuchten Kategorie, dass Badezimmer war extrem klein.
Es sind extra Kosten aufgetreten ( Frühstück) das bei der Buchung nicht ersichtlich war.
Laut Inhaber wäre eine Buchung direkt übers Hotel Günstiger gewesen, aber bei Telefonischer anfrage im Hotel sowie auf der Hotel eigenen Webseite waren Buchungen erst ab 4 Übernachtungen möglich auserdem zu diesem Zeitpunkt auch nicht verfügbar.

The location is the best! View over the Rhine river is amazing. Try for a room with a balcony towards the front. But the view has a price. The ships and trains are a bit loud, but that is acceptable for THAT view.

What is disturbing is the noise from the street directly in front of the hotel. The city sends the trucks to collect trash out VERY early ... like 5 a.m. And other delivery trucks bringing things so early.

The beds were comfortable! We slept great until early morning with the street noise.

Breakfast was tasty! A great start for the day.

A tip for the room... it would be nice to be able to darken the windows with a darkening blind. The curtains are light and look nice. But the sun shines early during the summer and it is also difficult to sleep once it gets light... along with the street noise.

Diverse mogelijkheden om de omgeving te verkennen.
Hotel was goed en het ontbijt is uitgebreid.
