-Does not have AC so if travel during non hot moths is perfect. they do offer fan . -Does not have buffet however included a breakfast good for the sale price, and lunch or dinner for afordable price. This seasoned old royal hotel is recommended if you going to Lima to walk to the plazas and palace and some free museums tours around the old historic sites. It included the breakfast not buffet style; the breakfast was simple coffee or tea choices, local bread, butter and jam, eggs to your choice scramble ,sunny side or boiled, and fresh fruit bowl. the rooms are clean, tv and cable and Wi-Fi included, got hot and cold water; Stayed and was able to walk to restaurant, movies, bars, plazas, and many others shopping experience, ;

They have a door person in the front door to control how goes in and out they got cameras on lobby ,during night time the close the front door and opened to customers only so security is not terrible. Room key is a key not card.

The hotel is a classic type. It has character. All the staff were very nice, professional and helpful. I got to interact with Noe at the Front Desk and Lothar who work with the rooms. They are both great people. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Continental.

Very average hotel stay.

It looks better in pictures, very average, it definitively has seen better days. Noisy area. We choose because the location, otherwise find a better hotel for similar price. Shower looked old and not clean well. Overcharged for pickup at the airport, $80 soles. Since it was my first time and arriving very late and not having a local SIM card for cell I decided to go that way, but local taxi was charging $55 soles. Breakfast was pretty basic.

The hotel is really old. When arrived at 10pm, the door was locked. The area felt unsafe. The room was dirty and had a very musky smell. Tried to reach out to Expedia and the hotel for early checkout and unused nights, they said no. Breakfast was 7-9am but everything was out by 745am. Only one person was working so everything was super slow and told a long time to just get coffee. Very unorganized.

Overall a good place to stay. Nice and close to the historic district, with bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Hotel was elderly with a few rough edges, but fine. Staff were friendly, and the laundry service was good. Internet service, though, was not great - spotty coverage, low speeds, and there was a complete outage for a couple of hours one day. Also, for the technically minded, you cannot establish an outgoing VPN connection - for some reason it is blocked.

The town of Lima is wonderful but I recommend researching your hotel choices closely. The Continental seemed to accommodate the Expedia members in what was a mess than desirable location in the hotel. The hotel is due a hardware and security upgrade (door locks, bathrooms, etc.)
The window for the room is was given had construction noise in the day and nightclub noise at night.

Downtown experience

This hotel is one of my favorite in Lima. Location is a important, it is right in the middle of the downtown area, right behind wonderful plaza San Martin and four blocks away from main square plaza the armas. Lots of walking streets filled with restaurants, bars and shopping stores, souvenirs, museum, etc. Again, the spot is amazing. Rooms are very comfortable, clean and organised though a bit small for american standards ( europeans would find them perfect size). The breakfast is simple but ok if you need to fill you up before you go. Otherwise, there are plenty of options just outside the building. When the price is good, this is a good hotel to stay in.

The room was huge, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast could of been better. It was not hot, and if you didn’t get down there early, there was not much to choose from. Our stay was cut short, because of the fact that we have to leave Peru early. The hotel informed us the morning of March 16th, that the boarders were closing at midnight. They did tell us that the couldn’t refund our money for the two nights we didn’t stay. They did tell us if we had to stay we still had two night and we could stay there, if we got struck in Lima for 15 days.

Great variety of breakfast - fruits, coffee, tea, warm breakfast dishes, breads, juices, cold cut meat and cheese. Very close to a couple main squares and comforting security guard outside the hotel. Near Metro grocery store and many shops and cathedrals. Average cleaning
Noisy at night due to nearby clubs/bars. No airport shuttle service or hired taxi came to pick us up - even after we made arrangement.

Fantastic location close to many tourist attractions. However, many of the rooms have no air conditioning. It is located in the middle of several tall buildings. So, there is no air flow. Opening windows doesn't help. Only one poor quality fan is provided. It was very hot in early April within the room. But, the price is fair.

The staff made this motel acceptable. Other then that, the rest wasn’t much. You must try their breakfast. Simple breakfast, but so darn good. That and I loved the coffee with the warm mild 😍. I would give the staff a solid 10 out of 10. WiFi kept going out, water turned cold mid shower, tv kept freezing.

First they never disclosed that it would cost us to call locally. We never got the local # to dial out but we got charged. When I spoke to the front desk the gentleman printed out the call attempts and how much it would be. I asked him to pls call from the front desk bc the calls never completed from our room. He too could not get the call to go thru. He advised us this # didn’t exist but Thayer would still get charged ever tho the # didn’t exist and the calls never really dialed out. I asked for a supervisor-no one was available. And he took the paper that he printed out and refused to give it back until I started calling Expedia’s 800#. Terrible service! Plus there were no heaters and it was amazingly cold at night.

Three strikes and you're out!

Upon arriving, paid the balance ($54) in USD. They charge in Dollars, but have no Dollars as change. They provided me change in Soles, but only at a 2:1 rate, when the actual rate is 3.4:1.

Bought a water and a soda from the bar downstairs and they tried to overcharge me.

Room was cold but did not have a heater. Uncomfortable sleep.

Shower had no hot water at 4:30am. Left it running for 10 minutes with constant checks, but it never got hot. I left without showering.

I would never stay here again due to the combination of all these things.

Located in historic El Centro, walking distance to many sites of interest. English speaking staff, with high standards for customer service. Hotel Continental is a decent value, especially with its free breakfast. I wouldn't consider staying elsewhere, while visiting Lima.

We stayed one night for a layover. The breakfast was better than I expected with eggs, fresh juices and fruits. The best thing is its location – right at the heart of the Plaza de Armas. We enjoyed walking around and eating with the locals. The souvenirs are also cheaper in this part of town compared to Miraflores. Wish we had more time to explore the local sites. The staff was friendly and helpful. They helped arrange the airport/hotel/airport transfer for an extra fee. The only thing I didn’t like was the room looked and smelled dated. Other than that, it was worth the money!

I booked my hotel through my travel agent who in turn booked with Expedia. I had a voucher and thought everything was OK. Upon arrival I was asked for my credit card to pay for the hotel. I explained that I already paid my agent who in turn had paid Expedia. They had my agent's debit card information on file BUT refused to use that. They insisted that I pay for the room using my credit card. My agent contacted Expedia and the hotel and they refused to do anything about it. This situation is totally unacceptable and I hold Expedia responsible. I will take to social media when I return and let everyone know about this horrible experience. My agent even provided a copy of his debit card AND his passport and they still refused to accept it.

Check in was excellent Room was clean and comfortable except that there is no airconditioning. There is a small \"cooler\" unit which does little to cool the room and does not dehumidify. I was quite tired and needed rest so did not report toilet not flushing until next morning. Was not fixed before I checked out. No TV instructions so unable to find English channels. All In all a very nice hotel for the price ($44) but it could be an even better property with just a little effort.
When checking out, I missed one of my items so I went back to the room right away. It was not there. But by the time I got back to the front desk the room cleaner had brought it down. Excellent!!

The hotel was suitable for just the two nights I needed, but many things could be improved. There was no heating system so my room was very cold both nights. A clock and safe in the room would have been appreciated and the cleanliness could be improved as well.

Close to plaza and markets

Great location to explore Lima by foot, and is located in a safe neighborhood. The rooms are very spacious! The internet worked sometimes however which was inconvenient. There are also no hairdryers in the rooms ladies, which was true of most hotels I stayed in throughout Peru and Chile. The breakfast is okay as well. Limited variety, usually ham and cheese sandwiches and eggs, which again was true of all the hotels I stayed in however.

Not disclosing construction is similar to \"fraud\"

Whenever a hotel is doing major construction, and they dont disclose it until I have already paid a non-refundable room rate, I take at least two stars off their score. Hotel Continental is installing a new elevator, and the noise from the jack hammers was unbearable (from 9am to 5pm). I got the hotel after a difficult day of travel (it is south america). I wanted to take a nap. That was impossible. The construction noise was echoing throughout the entire building. I would not have booked this hotel had I known. I feel like not disclosing this amount of construction is similar to fraud. Hotels are not supposed to be this uncomfortable.

And then there's the room: very small, and it smelled like an old gym sock. Very musty. (my room had a small \"portable\" floor unit air conditioner that I never turned on (I might have helped? I dont know?)

The breakfast was below average. Room temp scrambled eggs, basic breads, juices, extra processed ham and \"mystery lunch meat\".

The location was awesome. The wifi worked great. The staff was sympathetic and gracious when I dealt with them (they held my bag safely in their storage closet while I explored Lima).

The construction was unbearable.

Great Value Hotel in Lima

The Hotel Continental provides great value in the Centro Historico área of Lima. It offers comfortable rooms, a central and safe downtown location, free wifi, an excellent breakfast (eggs, potatoes, juices, fruits, breads, etc.), and outstanding customer service. I would gladly stay there again. The only negative is there is no air conditioning.

Stayed here for two nughts. Staff was great, customer service representative was also available to answer touristy questions about things to do, for example on New Year's Eve. He was very helpful and friendly. Front desk staff was also helpful, quick to address any concerns. Room was huge, comfortable. Beds aren't as comfortable compared to what you find in the U.S., but the same could be said about all of the other beds I experienced while in Peru. They're hard and pillows tended to be flat and worn out. However it was a lovely quiet place to recharge for the night and bathroom was clean and comfortable.

The hotel was in a fantastic location (close to both the San Martin plaza as well as the main plaza). The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was really quiet at night, so I was able to get a great night's sleep. I'd definitely stay there again.

The room was 90 USD and didn´t have any internet when it was warrantied on the services offered. The staff didnt event receive me to put my complaint. I just wrote a complaint in the book and that was it. Very dissapointing response on the staff.

The best thing about the hotel is the proximity to the Main Square, about 4 blocks. The only hotel I've visited where you have to take up your own luggage. The room was ok although there was no mini fridge. The worst part about this hotel is the fact that they lock the doors after midnight. In our case we arrived late at night a couple of times to find that the doors were locked, the lobby empty and the lights off. There was no doorbell and we had to wait until the person in charge, who was sleeping, got up to open after about 5 minutes in the street in a deserted street.

From this hotel, you CAN actually judge a book by its cover. The rooms are BARELY average at best and the facilities are in ill repair. No alarm clock in the room and the beds were VERY average. The location does not have a safe feel and if not for the one staff member who was very helpful as a bellman, I would have rated the staff as dreadful. The front desk man one night gave me a lower rate of the taxi service than the man the next morning when it was actually time to take the \"shuttle\" to the airport. It appears that every hotel worker had an agenda to earn more money for their services. There are no fixed prices for the taxis as one person will vary what they will charge you at the hotel. In addition, the \"shuttle\" is not a shuttle service, but simply stated, they call a taxi to pick you up, for much higher than the price from the airport. Stay at your own caution.

I think it was alright. Stayed two nights cause I was bumped off my flight. The first night the room was small and had a bad tv. Second night, the room had a moldy smell. There are other nicer hotels near by for cheaper price, but for last minute it was ok

El hotel es céntrico, buena ubicación, aunque el precio sigue siendo discutible, ya que reservé el precio incluido IGV y al llegar al hotel me cobraron de nuevo el IGV, deberían ser mas claros en sus condiciones.

La personne à la réception est très désagréable, le petit déjeuner pas bon (pain sec avec un peu de beurre, boisson chaude, jus de fruit et aucun choix!), la température de la douche est impossible à régler, soit on s'ébouillante soit l'eau est glacée.
En positif, l'hôtel est bien situé, la literie est confortable et il y a des rideaux occultants, ce qui est rare au Pérou.
