The staff are really friendly, on hand for all your needs. We were here on bed & breakfast, and found out they did free cake and coffee at 3pm which was a nice treat. Room and pool area was really clean. Beautiful views of the lake and really close to the restaurants. Looking forward to going back!!

This hotel is in an excellent location with the lake and the facilities of Garda town. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The choice of food each evening was excellent and the food was delicious. We would definitely stay there again if we returned to Lake Garda.

What a lovely hotel to stay in, we were really lucky to have side lake view rooms which had great views!
The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are very helpful. The pool and area around are perfect!
Bike hire for 5 euros was great and a ride to Bardolino is a must! Afternoon tea at 4 every day is a great added extra!
We didn’t want to leave!

Very nice and very clean. Parking can be a real problem. The property is up a very steep hill, and walking up it can be a challenge. On our second night, we parked up at the top of the hill, by the entrance. Navigating that part of the hill was even worse!

This hotel is fabulous on all levels.
The room was immaculate with an amazing lake view. The balcony was huge with sunbeds as well as table and chairs. The room was equipped with my favourite extras such as bathrobe and slippers, complimentary water, magnifying light-up makeup mirror and a range of toiletries.
All staff are outstandingly friendly and helpful and everything seems to run like clockwork.
The food is excellent; we were half board and could not fault any of the meals. The dining room is cosy and comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere. There was also the added bonus of complimentary tea and snacks every afternoon which were delicious.
The hotel is ideally situated, just a 5 minute walk to the ferry stop and a 10 minute walk to the bus station.
The only negative comment I could make is that the steep steps leading up from the road to the hotel are not very well lit at night, so could be dangerous for people with mobility issues.
I would not hesitate to stay here again if we go back to Garda and would recommend this hotel to everyone, it is amazing.

It was our 2nd time staying at this hotel. We had a front lake view which was absolutely gorgeous. The room was adequate for two people, although the bathroom was long and quite narrow, having to squeeze past the basin and door which didn’t open fully because of the handle. Not enough plug sockets. These are constructive issues and in no way spoilt our time in Garda.

View from the front facing room was fabulous. Front desk was incredibly helpful with a number of issues. Room was roomy, clean, bed was good and bathroom clean and good. Breakfast was fantastic so be sure and get it. Staff were very attentive. Walk into town was easy and very close to the ferry. Have dinner at La Losa - we ended up eating there multiple nights. Highly recommend this well located hotel.

I booked a special gateaway as by birthday treat and I did mention it in my booking confirmation but it was ignored. During check-in the lady at the reception was a bit grumpy but it’s ok. The room was super small but this is what we booked. The hotel is nice and very well maintained. In case if we ever come back we will be booking a larger room. The one we were in it was difficult to move around as it was too small. The breakfast is good.

The hotel has a great location overlooking the lake and a short stroll to the waterfront lined with restaurants. It has a pool onsite and a lakeside garden about ten minutes walk away. We visited the garden once but didn't stay as there is also a beachbar there playing loud music. Your room choice will probably make a big difference to your enjoyment of the hotel -- we stayed at first in a room at the front with a large balcony and a gorgeous view over the lake. Perfect. Because our plans changed we stayed a further night and, as the hotel was almost full, had a room at the back without any view. Obviously it was cheaper, but it smelled musty and was not a room we could recommend. The breakfast was first rate -- a mix of continental and freshly cooked eggs. The cleaning staff, bar staff and breakfast chefs were all friendly and helpful. The reception staff were a little more mixed and perhaps lacked a little of the warmth of the other staff.

Lovely hotel, fantastic views from the pool area, great breakfast choice, only a couple minutes walk to the promenade where you can walk either way. The room was spotlessly clean and the shower was great.

I booked a balcony room at the back of the hotel but had I known it had a view of the car park I wouldn’t have bothered. I would have just booked a room without a balcony as we only sat on it for 20 minutes as the view was just not great. It would be better if you could not see through the railings and you could only see what was above.

I stayed in July 2019 solo for my birthday. There was an awful sewer smell in room 203, they moved me a floor up to 303 but it was present there as well, and hit worse when the air con was off and at 3am in the morning, previous guests confirmed it too. My double, single use room was tiny, not even enough room to turn and get out of bed comfortably. Hotel won't exchange GBP for EUR even though they kept my passport so i couldnt get it from the Bank they sent me to. Breakfast was nice on the terrace and pool area relaxing apart from the traffic noise.

Garda is an amazing place to visit and the Hotel Excelsior is an excellent place to base yourself. The rooms probably vary but our standard no view room was as described and perfectly comfortable and met our requirements. The staff are very welcoming, breakfast is excellent with a chef on hand to cook your eggs however you like them. The pool area is excellent with views of the lake. The only thing to be mindful of is rhat the 'private beach' is a garden area about 5 minutes from the hotel.

Very tiny room, no place to move. We knew our rooms are without view but the view was to the noisy parking lot, while our windows were next to the chimney.
The air-conditioner does not work in the hotel until June so we had to open the windows and couldn't sleep because of the noise.
The staff during the check-in was unpleasant.
The breakfast and the staff in the dining room were excellent though.

Coffee at breakfast Luke warm and tasteless , you can ask for special coffee but when I asked for Americano I got given the same Luke warm coffee in a pot.

Drab, spendy, bore : Road view, but not lake

Just back from Italy, having stayed at 10+ places : this was the worst one.

By Italian standards it is almost not in the town, a new development sprawled out past the natural area of the small commune, clumsily carved into a hillside.
The indifferent, haughty atmosphere was thoroughly stuffy, snobby and drab. The 'calm' rooms are beige blandness. Their 'private beach' is the Bermuda grass backyard of a bikini bar that's 15+ minutes walk away from the hotel. & you can't really see the lake (you can tell it's there, a bit, through the trees.) Other guests have noted the meager dinner portions in assigned seats.

The real kicker : it's fronting a highway on a big hill at the far edge of town, so you are lulled to sleep by the sound of truck traffic decelerating and tour buses straining up the slope. To get to the town (15 minutes walk), the lake, etc. you need to bravely walk out in front of cars going full speed. Particularly exciting at night. The rooms facing the back get the noise bouncing off the cliff-face & parking lot view and the constant drone of A/C units all night.

It is very interesting that a tiny, cramped pool, a cookie at 4pm and a breakfast spread from a Las Vegas dentist convention rates 4 or 5 star reviews. And we are mystified that this is considered a 4-star hotel compared to the others we experienced in Italy. It is at least 50% overpriced.

Do yourself a favor and get a hotel that is between the highway and the lake, not the other way around.

Our economy room was small but comfortable , clean and well laid out . It didn't have a balcony unfortunately. Staff were excellent and friendly . Buffet breakfast was very good. The location was perfect and very near the lake and local amenities. Would definitely recommend it.

Very nice hotel, staff arranged our transfers and catered for meal food intolerance as I contacted them before and Food generally good. Close proximity to village with few different restaurants and bars for lunch.
One issue we found was air con had been turned off as out of season so was warm in room and there was no iron to borrow .

booked through expedia, the standard double room had no lake view; you get what you pay for I guess. The rooms at the front with the lake view would be nice. Decent location, 5 minute walk to the central hub of Garda town.

Wifi wasnt great; kept cutting in and out.

Loose cable fitting to the tv sounded like we were at risk of electric shock; notified reception and it appeared to be fixed the same evening.

breakfast was large continental style with eggs/omellette made to suit; a good spread.

have just returned from 4 night stay - we had a lovely time and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. It is near town, harbour, shops and restaurants. Good breakfast, helpful staff, nice pool area with plenty of seating, well stocked bar. The only downside for us was that room 120 is really a single room, not a double, although we did have a balcony that was nice. We booked an economy room but even so it was really small with the bed up against the wall - my pet hate! We could make do for a few nights but wouldn't have been happy if we were staying for a week. When visiting Garda remember that there are lots of mosquitoes and go prepared - we forgot and were eaten alive!

Just returned and had a fabulous time.The hotel was excellent.The staff were the best I've experienced.So friendly,totally efficient and couldn't be more helpful.The food in the restaurant was excellent.The location perfect and the room was clean and modern. The only thing to improve was our shower,which was lacking pressure but that's a minor point.The swimming pool was not heated but pleasant enough.Couldnt recommend it highly enough.Would definitely go back.Beware of the mozzies.take plenty of repellent!!

From the time we arrived to the time we left, the staff were exceptional. We stayed in an economy room and although it was small (as advised at time of booking) it was immaculately clean and we were lucky enough to have a side lake view too. The pool area was wonderful with stunning lake views. The resort centre was a mere 5 minute walk away so the hotel was perfectly situated. Bikini Lido, the hotel lakeside bar, was a great surprise and the most amazing spot to spend the day relaxing lakeside. Finally the restaurant...although we generally like to eat out, we were drawn to the restaurant most nights as the food was fantastic and such great value. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so memorable. We will be back!

Hotel wouldn't put air con on as it wasn't 1st June. Absolutely stupid as the weather was 29 degrees of a day. Bed was awful, squeaky - complained and nothing happened. This shouldn't be like this in a 4 star hotel.

My husband and I spent a superb 5 night stay in this superb hotel. Plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. One afternoon we had heavy rain so decided to stay and read in the lounge and enjoyed their complimentary afternoon tea & cakes. Also lovely poolside area where we had our pre-dinner drinks. All made for a lovely holiday.

The location of this hotel is excellent, within walking distance of Garda town and walkway next to the lake. The food both at breakfast and dinner is just excellent . The 4 course dinner menu at €19 euro per head was just the highlight of most days. Breakfasts include freshly cooked omelettes and crepes. delicious. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Especially Vitor and the restaurant staff. My biggest disappointment was our room, at the back of the hotel with no view and more importantly there were heating pipes outside our room and the noise from them with the generator below was at times dreadful.

Breakfast had a good choice continental style and afternoon tea was served FOC to guests every afternoon. Nice touch. Supposedly a free Minnie bar but only water and a bottle of juice included but not replenished.

The hotel is situated 10-15 minute walked from the bus station in Garda town on a road on the way out the town it looks like. the view of the lake is incredible from the pool area, didn't try out the pool as it was April and still a bit too chilly but a lovely area to relax and read. We had a double room, nice big bed, the room couldn't have been any smaller but it was perfectly adequate, not much of a view fro the room, looking at a wall but it had been deorated with fake plants to create a vertical garden which made it slightly nice.

Small rooms close to city centre

We stayed here for 3 nights in a small room with little balcony. We would have liked more space, there was no where to store the suitcases or unpack them.

We never got to use the outdoor pool as the weather want great during our stay. The breakfast was good with omelette station cooked fresh you order.
Parking at the hotel is limited and cramped. One night we struggled to get parked.
The hotel is within walking distance to the centre, approx 10 minute walk.
All the staff were very friendly and hospitable. It had a nice atmosphere. Web we checked out they tried to charge us for the bathrobes Erich were left in or room upon check in. We didn't use them during our stay and I put them in the wardrobe as there was literally no where else to store them. They presumed we had taken them. They checked with housekeeping and deducted the charge from our bill. Apart from this incident everything was ok.

Very close to lake

Very nice hotel and only steps to the lake. Staff are very friendly, rooms are very clean and the breakfast was excellent. Parking was difficult though as there are not enough spaces and it is awkward!

Fantastic Hotel

The hotel was in fantastic location. The whole hotel was spotless and the staff very friendly and helpful. Drinks at the bar very reasonably priced and cocktail were gorgeous! Lovely pool area overlooking the lake. Fabulous breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

Dont go for the cheaper room

The hotel was lovely. The room was a great disappointment there was no room around the bed. The room was too small. Otherwise the bathroom was excellent. the breakfast was very good.

Relaxing at the beautiful Excelsior Le Terrazze

A relaxing 3 night stay in beautiful surroundings. The hotel staff were all very curteous and helpful.

Nice hotel .Great base for trips

Hotel was good .Friendly helpful staff.My opinion is best spot to stay by far.Walking distance to bus station and their buses run frequently and are cheap.Dont pay for expensive taxis .buses are great.It cst us 77 euros by taxi to get to hotel on arrival but only 4 euros each by bus on return.Such a lovely beautiful spot if you want a relaxing chilled holiday

Beautiful views of the Lake

Can't recommend this hotel enough - from the well organised airport car collection to the free afternoon tea and cake service. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and spoke multiple languages. The rooms were spacious and spotless and the pool area was clean and quiet enough to chill out looking over the lake.
A glass of fizz with breakfast also helped!
A 3 minute walk into Garda meant we were close enough to shop and enjoy the restaurants but we were not disturbed by the hussle and bussle of it all.
A great hotel that we will be returning to.

Nice hotel close to lake, ferry and town

Perfectly situated, every member of staff was a delight and the cleaners amongst the most thorough I've ever come across! The room could, ideally, be bigger and the balcony just about squeezed in a table and 2 chairs but nice size pool and restaurant.

Very friendly, multilingual staff made it a pleasure, changing from English to Italian to German easily.
Great location, lakeside, short walk to Gardas shops and restaurants.
Very clean and well maintained property. Pool and bar very nice, evening set meal 4 course very good value for money, as is breakfast buffet.

Nice Hotel in great location...small room and no A/C until June which was frustrating.Good breakfast and easy parking.Wi-Fi on and off...

Would recommend especially because of its location overlooking the beautiful Lake Garda.

Well-kept hotel right on the Lake

The hotel was lovely looking, very clean and stylish with a lovely pool/terrace area (though bit too cold for pool in March!). The restaurant was lovely and drinks in the bar very reasonably priced (Prosecco for €3!). The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us some great recommendations for our travels. The hotel itself was in a great location not only for the front of Garda Town, by the lake, but also as a base to getting to other places around the lake. We cycled down to Bardolino and Lazise, both gorgeous, and drove to Malcesine and Sirmione too. The room was rather small but very well kept and it was the most basic one so can't really complain.
